Great place. Lovely ambience. Me and husband, we both love their pad Thai prawn and the country fish. Tom yum mild is excellent! We will keep visiting and probably order the same menu again!! Con, bit of a wait on the food and rice top ups. Cheers!
Preferred rating is 4.5:
2 adults, 15 year old and 11 year old. Hubby and I had Prawn Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles - generous servings with plenty of prawns with flavour. Miss 15 had mild Tom Yum Soup - she loved it and ended up taking the rest home. Mr 11 had the sirloin salad - while it was nice enough the onions were in pretty large and raw, which isn’t the greatest. He didn’t expect the meat to be cold either. Overall service was a 4.5 and food a 4.5. We live down the road so see that the place is busy and not busy. Tonight was busy. We’ll be back again - definitely good value for money.

Always found food to be good. Good portions for takeaway. Been to restaurant 2x. First time hardly anyone there and service fast. 2nd time there had been event In Botanic Gardens and they obviously didn't expect the numbers they had and it took awhile to get served. Best going there during the week when not busy. I like the place.
The food was beautiful! Very filling! The staff was really nice over the phone and nice when I walked in to pick up the food. The kids loved it aswell.
Went out on a limb to try a new Thai restaurant. Got sexy little duck. Great value for money. I got mine takeaway but the restaurant looked nice a clean. Good atmosphere & nice staff. Meal was tasty, only little complaint is that there wasn't as much meat in the dish as my usual restaurant. Other than that great. Would go back again if I wanted to go somewhere local
Nice cosy and calm atmosphere. Great service and food came out rather quickly which was great :) we ordered the pad Thai which was delicious as well as the Tom yum which was also great! However the sweet and sour snapper was a disappointment. The sauce was rather runny and was not mild as we wanted.
My thai to go place because it's really close to me. The food is great. I love their curry puffs & tom yum soup. The atmosphere is really cosy the waiters are usually very nice, there take away time is very quick usually 15-20 minutes & they have 10% discount
Had a beautiful dinner Here for Hubby's birthday.very generous portions and very attentive and friendly staff.would definitely go back.
We had the spicy lamb, asked for extra spicy and they delivered which was amazing .thoroughly enjoyed by the whole family
We had a happy occasion at this restaurant - myself and three friends. The meals are a generous size and the taste is true Thai. We ordered the banquet B for four people and we were able to mix and match our selection to suit ourselves. There was more than enough food for us all and we also took some home. I recommend the steamed snapper with lemon and the Thai chicken curry is authentic and tasty. The banquet enabled us to have desert of ice cream and lychees with fresh apple and cream. The Botanic Gardens are about 200 metres away so we actually tied the meal in with a visit to the Gardens before hand - I recommend Thai Tradition Restaurant as a lovely way to finish the day after an afternoon browsing the Botanic Gardens. We will definitely do it again.
Look I have been very sceptical since this restaurant was sold and was under new management, I tried once after the ownership had changed and I wasn't at all happy with the quality of the meals. Me and my partner got a two"Tom Yum (chicken) soups" and Spicy Girl (She's hot!!). The soups were 10/10 in flavour the spicy girl I have to be fair and say I would give it 7/10 I think it was good but a little bit bland in actual flavour, but for the price you pay it feeds two people. I have to give this experience a good feedback, until next time I guess. I hope they can carry on delivering good quality food.
Just found this restaurant after a bad service (no service) experience at Bronco's.
Took a pot luck on a Monday night.
Great food, good service, fair price.
Our new favorite local Thai.
My wife and I have visited this restaurant twice in recent weeks. On both occasions we were accompanied by another couple. We all found the food expertly cooked and served. The authentic serving staff were helpful and prompt in dealing with our order. We plan to make further visits with other couples as part of our Christmas and New Year celebrations.
We have especially enjoyed the varied banquet menus.
We had an awesome dinner here. The place focused on single details. Napkins are folded beautifully. Glasses are placed on handmade coasters. Their menu has a variety of choices. I can not remember the total number of pages of their menu.
We chose raw prawn which was tasty. Their squid tentacles salad was amazing with huge portions. Their hotpot was super nice with a lot of meat, seafood, and vegetables. The price is cheap, $36/ hot pot with 2 different flavors. Their service was excellent. They also have special dishes: whole snapper for $28.5. We are so happy with our choice. This is definitely our favorite Thai restaurant in South Auckland. Highly recommended.
Great place, awesome atmosphere, just so peaceful to dine in with friends and family. Enjoyed the friendly service and good food. Portions are good and there is plenty of parking outside. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Had the Pad Thai, Pad ped and Cashew Chicken, all of which was delicious, check out my photos. They also have plenty of space for larger groups.
If you want authentic Thai food that won't break the bank. Check out this place. Chef Don cooks up amazing Thai cuisine with a newly incorporated special Thai Street food menu.
Prawn dish - lamb dish & scallop dish
All 3 meals were absolutely delicious. The dining room had great decor and the waiter was attentive.
I highly recommend this place and will go back.
Great portion and authentic taste. Nice staff, excellent service, huge portions
Family dinner made even memorable by delectable food and courteous, snappy service despite being understaffed—- kids unfamiliar with Thai cuisine were suddenly converted! Their larb and tom yum are not merely authentic but worth many repeat visits. Aroi krap!
Wow...absolutely delicious Food ...by far, the most Authentic, Traditional & Tastiest Thai food I have had in NZ. We had the Country Fish & Mussaman Beef Curry....amazing taste and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is super and the Staff are very Warm and Welcoming. Will definitely be going back there soon. Thank you, Thai Tradition Restaurant, for the wonderful Thai Food Experience.
If you are looking an elite kind of a restaurant, then I highly recommend this restaurant. From atmosphere to food to service, this place is awesome! As the name suggests, the place offers you a traditional thai experience with top class service. The food tastes great and got quite a lot of options as well. There is ample parking space as well.
Visited Auckland Botanical Gardens and decided to fine dinner. Decided on Thai. Tried Thai Tradition Restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. Walked in and found it to be as if we were in Thailand. The found was amazing. Beautiful presentations. Pad Thai with chicken. Wait staff was friendly and dressed in traditional style. Loved it.
Good kai and well priced. Six of us ate there and did there 32 per head meal (min of four people) clean it up but couldn't have eaten much more.
Very nice place, good Curry and perfect Service. You can bring your own drink.
My "Duck Love" curry was delicious. Ate up every last drop and every last grain of rice. But don't get the idea that there wasn't enough. There was, but it was so scrumptious I couldn't resist eating it all.
Stopped in after a nice walk through the botanical gardens next door, with my date, and we were very pleased with the atmosphere, service and food. I recommend this restaurant. I will be dining or ordering from here more often.
Yummy yummy food, reasonable prices, large portions. Would go again.
