Malaysian for lunch is one of the best option to fill our tummy. Ordered fried vermicelli, quite happy with the taste but the portion quite small in takeaway box LoL
My friend introduced me to this little store inside the food court in Imax centre. She strongly recommended the Mee Goreng Fried Egg Noodles, so I got that. I have always thought Mamak Malaysian Restaurant in Chancery Square had the best mee goreng noodles in Auckland until now. But here, it was personally even better. Great portion size for a very reasonable price and really delicious!
We enjoyed beef rendang good portion for 14$ ,chicken laksa was so good too Plus roti and lamb skewers ,all very good
Recommend this place and the guy on the counter was good
For me its 4.5

One of the best Malaysian food in Auckland by far. Have eaten at both branches. Tried the Mi Goreng which had a great wok charred flavour, chicken satay, roti canai with dough made fresh and nasi lemak with the lovely coconut rice as well as the Maggi Goreng. If Im ever feeling like Malaysian food, I know Uncle Mans will not disappoint and is as authentic as it gets. All food is Halal and prices are very reasonable. 10/10.
We had nasi goreng and curry laksa. Great for the price and yummy. We would definitely come back again.
Probably one of the best mee goreng Iβve ever had. Beautiful al dente egg noodles, drenching in greasy soy and spicy sauce covered in fried shallots and decent portions of chicken and prawn. All tossed and coated with that beautiful wok char.

We come here quite often and always get the Mee Goreng Fried Egg noodle which is delicious! Always very tasty, sometimes a bit too saucy though. On a couple of occasions, our meals were very spicy despite asking for no spice at all, but that hasnβt stopped us from returning here. Good portions, friendly enough staff. Tasty food thatβs Halal too! Would definitely recommend ππ½
Wait on food can sometimes be long as they get real busy. Food is good. Love the Mee Goreng, the Maggi Goreng and their laksa. All of them are worth the wait. Good on them for moving to cardboard packaging although it doesnβt work so well with the saucy noodle.
5 stars just for the roti itself. Great seeing a place that actually makes it to order and the texture is great! Will be going again for sure
We often get takeout from here if we're in town. Their Roti is amazing and you can watch them make it too which is a plus :) we also get Chicken Nibbles which just act as a good side to go with the roti
My favourite Malaysian place! Even much better than Pappa Rich! I grew up in KL, Malaysia, so I always have the expectation of real Malaysian food when I order here... their food made me so nostalgic! It was fantastically on the spot. Very friendly too!
Decided to try this place on a whim once (after watching a movie, as you do) and Iβve enjoyed all the dishes Iβve tried since. Itβs one of the better places in the Metro food court. I like this outlet better than the one on K Road personally, although I saw a lot of reviews saying the opposite so take that as you will.
My go-to is the Kuey Teow Goreng and I also love the Nasi Goreng, both are really good at a hot spicy level. Portions are really big and pretty good price, I think most dishes are around $12.50 mark.
The wait is not bad, today I came just after peak dinner time and it was about 10 minutes. They give you a buzzer thing that will light up when your food is ready so you can wonder off for a while. Service is usually decent for food court level, the older ladies are really nice.
I usually prefer to dine in when I can because they use polystyrene containers which I donβt really like as theyβre not reusable.

First time eating here for a quick lunch work break today and im so glad i did. They were quite busy, which is a good sign. I ordered the fried char kway teao. I asked for hot and it was authentic malay hot. Very tasty and well priced. it was slightly charred, the way it should be! I Will definitely return
such great service, seriously friendliest greeting Iβve been met with from the entire food court in the IMAX complex.
Excellent value for money and the taste is so good
Thereβs 2 Malaysian food places in the same building but I definitely prefer this one for the taste and the value for money. If youβre not fussed with a food court atmosphere definitely come here over that other overrated place to be honest
Super cheap and perfect for uni students! And such a great location
Ordered Kuay Teow, lamb satay and Nasi Ayam Chicken for takeaway after a long day at uni.
Bloody delish! Definitely very close to home. The food was flavourful and worth the price.
Great authentic Malaysian food! Recommend Maggie goreng as this is the only restaurant I know in auckland who offer this dish. We go there often before or after movie.
Kind of sad at how much more average the food was here than the K Rd location :( the roti was not as flaky or golden. Seemed a bit overcooked with edges like dough unlike their normally sublime, flaky offering on K Rd. The beef rendang was also suprisingly dry though with the same delicious flavour as K Rd luckily. I would definitely recommend the walk to K Rd if you're able instead of this one though it's still nice in general if you're not comparing.
I wish I snapped a picture of my big bowl of coconut infused curry laksa. I am of malaysian origin and I thought my cravings of laksa would not be fulfilled here. I thought wrong, it's got flavour topped generously with beansprouts to provide that extra crunch in your bite. I say give it a go =)
The roti dishes and the Mee Rebus here are excellent and authentic! I haven't been back to the country in over a decade and yet, the first time I tried the new rebus, it tasted just like it did back home.
Convenient place as it is in food court. Will always recommend the chicken satay - the chicken is tender and well marinated and the peanut sauce is tasty. The Seafood Laksa is yummy with a couple of prawns and squid, the rest are fish balls and fried tofu. Could be better if added with some shellfish like mussels or clams to have more of that seafood taste.
DELICIOUS VALUE-FOR-MONEY MALAYSIAN CUISINEΒ
This is the place for delicious value-for-money Malaysian Cuisine in Auckland.
The Roti Canai (served with Curry of your choice) is the signature dish of this eatery and is sumptuous and fulfilling.
All other dishes are well-made and very tasty.
The location is very convenient and the anbience is good.Β
Do visit for a taste of authentic Malaysian Cuisine when in Auckland.
This place certainly ticked many boxes: quick, clean, cheap and tasty. The mi goreng was one of the best that I've had from a food court outlet. A nice balance of flavours and a generous portion size. Not too bad at all.
Stopped by after watching a movie at iMax at Queen Street. The food came out fairly fast, trying to pick something form the menu being the rate limiting step. I went with the Char Kuey Teow with a medium spice. The amount of heat was perfect and the portions were decent. I was expecting more of the char taste but otherwise it was good.
They also have roti tissue. It is crispy and sweet, an amazing dessert or snack,
Grabbing a quick bite before the Final Fantasy Symphony show, I wasn't surprised that the IMAX food court was packed.
I consider myself as a bit of a risk taker, so with that in mind I tried the Soto Ayam - Chicken and Cubed Rice Soup.
Cubed rice was literally rice cake but sliced into cubes, in my opinion I thought the cubes were gigantic however my partner thought they were smaller than the ones she's had in Singapore. In terms of taste I enjoyed the broth and it provided me with a homely feeling.
In all honestly however I didn't like the cubes, but my partner also had some and did comment on the authentic taste, so in that regard I'm glad that Uncle Man's is placing authenticity above commercial tastes.
Showstopper: Authentic Malaysian food at a convenient location.
Overall Grade: B
Great, delicious food for reasonable prices. We had the Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang and Chicken Nyonya Curry Laksa. Both meals were very tasty and good portions - my partner who eats for 2 was full and content. Definitely my new go to for Malaysian
Located in the Queen Street IMAX food court - Uncle Mans has opened an express outlet. Same crew from the main restaurant means the food tastes as tasty and delicious as the restaurant on K'Road and great value for money. Total hotspot for Malaysian food fix if you are anywhere nearby or before/after a movie.
Located in the foodcourt at Civic and they have the best roti! They only start making it from scratch after you placed your order, so you know it is served hot and crispy! There are three dipping sauce to choose from - Dhal, curry chicken or beef rendang, and the cheapest one (2 roti with dhal curry) is only $10. You can also find them in Kβroad if you want to dine in a restaurant. Food is very authentic and the owner is always friendly.
Highly recommended.

Its halal too.
Will go back again.
4.5 out of 5
We were in the food court trying to get away from the rain and decided to get a roti tissue. The cashier was quite unimpressed when I ordered it and looked quite annoyed. It took about 10 minutes, which was expected. The roti was just delicious and crispy and the condensed milk just added that extra sweetness. Quite a good go to dessert/snack.
Probably your safest bet looking for something fast and tasty at the Metro Food Court. The saucy Mee Goreng and Maggie Goreng never disappoint with plenty of dried shallots every time. Portion is not the biggest but just enough :)
Great food great service great atmosphere great price great everything...if you want to try authentic yummy Malaysian food here's the place :-)
Love the rice exactly same as what I had tried in Malaysia, chicken was juicy, perfect cooked, definitely I will come back.
The food here is too good, staff are really nice. Sometimes there is a wait but that's when they're busy so it is understandable. And their prices are really good considering the quantity and taste you get.
This easily beats the food from Malaysia. 5 stars doesn't justify the goodness. And the staffs are all super friendly.
Had mee hoon goreng. It was plenty and really tasty. Just like the char and crispy part. Taste just like home cooking. The owner/guys was friendly. Can't wait for the Wellington one to open. Taking from me as a Malaysian, i totally recommend this place!
I've tried Uncle Man on K'rd and it is nice... It is one of the best tasting Malaysian restaurant in AKL. So when I see the express version at IMAX foodcourt I went without hesitation.
Their food are quite good too, their Laksa is rich and creamy and the amount of spices is just perfect. The mee hon on the other hand is a bit too wet and soft unlike the one I tried at the K'rd establishment.
Their name express is also a bit of a miss, we have to wait for almost 20mins after ordering the food. It is not much quicker than the K'rd establishment.
But all and all, I still think it is nicer than the big Malaysian chain restaurant upstairs; Uncle Man is tastier and cheaper.
Authentic Malaysian food made me home sick
One of the best Nasi Goreng I have had as part of the Fast-food restaurants. The service was quick too. Hopped in on a rainy day, that made the meal more delightful.
Stayed in Auckland for 3 days. Everytime I go here, I am satisfied with the food! Ordered Nasi goreng(Hot) and Maggi goreng(hot), it was so delicious! If you're looking for Malay food, try this place!
Awesome affordable food close to Queen St. The Vege Mee Goreng is great for vegetarians. Added bonus they use cardboard instead of plastic takeaway. One small improvement could be organic juices in glass bottles and wooden knives and spoons for takeaway. π«
If you are from Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei or Malaysia and craving for halal chicken or beef meat or authentic malay food, this is the place to look for delicious food. If you are nearby, you must not miss trying the food here.
Tried the Nasi Goreng fried rice. Didnt expect much from this small joint at the food court. But Loved the fried rice. It had unique taste and flavour.
