Acho's is awesome !!! The food is amazing and the beer is just perfect !! Even during the winter its possible to have a cold beer because the heaters keep us warm !! I really recommend Acho's at anytime of the day !! :) :) :)
Awesome place the buns are so tasty. The vibe of Acho and St Kevin's Arcade is great. A really nice, chill place to meet for drinks and snacks after work.
Achos! (love heart emoticon) The best Sake, Plum Wine and hot Japanese bar cuisine 7 day 4pm - 1am establishment EVER! Just around the corner at St Kevins Arcade on K Road
Great little place, open every day until early hours. Large beer and Japanese whisky selection. Food is second to none.
First visit last night, pulled pork bun and karaage chicken happiness
We love the pork buns yummmmm
So listen, this place has been a local of mine for ages. Tomoko & Nobby like to keep it simple, and fresh. You cannot cone to this place without ordering the edamame, Karaage Fries Chicken & a Bao Bun. Top that with an ice cold asahi and you've got yourself a nice little late night munch. Always super friendly service, amazing food. Just a shame it's not open anymore. I still hold hope that they will return
We had a great time with a friend one night. The place is simple but great service and great sake. Good variety of japanese whiskey too. Open till late on week days!
Acho's is an oasis in Auckland and serves lots of different kinds of sake, whiskey, beer and tasty Japanese food. Steamed bun with deep fried chicken fillet, lettuce and mayo is my go to snack. For the most surreal drink experience ever try some of their fruit flavoured jelly sake....
Great casual place to go to on K road, we only ordered drinks and they have a variety of whisky at a cheap price, you can either choose to have it mixed with tonic/soda water or neat/on the rocks etc. They also have different flavoured plum wines served in cute cups, which is very sweet. Service is friendly and down to earth.
What is in those pork dumplings!! Heavenly little bundles of scented pork with a light aldente wrapper. And the Soup of the day? Delicious chunks of chicken with lots of veggies in a delicious broth. And it’s a bar? This is quality Japanese food. Definitely coming back.
Chilled Japanese Bar/Tapas.
Very neat location and friendly staff. Only came for a beer and enjoyed the environment.
Will be back next time for more food!

A perfect place to grab snacks after your friday-drinking session. They serve amazing baos and sides! And the best part is they’re open till late!
Having been someone who love Japanese food, I have been reading what is happening online for new food space and ideas.
I am delighted with the chose at Acho’s. A Japanese “pub-food” that have a huge selection of Japanese sake, whiskey and beer. The menu is full of traditional Japanese pub food in a different name. This is not the best part of place, it’s their daily specials that really blew me away – seasonal food that changes everyday.
Acho’s is situated in the St Kevin’s Arcade on K Road, not great if you want a carpark, but great if you are there for a fantastic night out. Acho’s only occupy a part of the arcade, with high chairs and tables. That open space is shared amongst other eateries, so if you have a friend who wants a burger or Lebanese food instead it is definitely a place to go to.
They will give you a menu and you should definitely go inside to admire the alcohol that have in place, some very rare and hard to find Whiskeys is a must.
This is a great place to share food and drinks with people you love. Not the traditional restaurants.
Nice place for a nice snack and drink. We stopped by after work for a bit before heading to dinner.
The food menu does have a variety of different things to offer but they are fairly small, thus Japaneses tapas. Although small, it is fairly priced and just delicious. If you are only able to try one thing make sure that it's the donut chips.
The drink menu was also fairly extensive. It separates it out based on type - Sake, Whisky, plum wine and others. What we found was a sparkling sake with jelly which was amazing.
One of the biggest issue is that it is quite small, only having a few tables scattered in St. Kevins arcade. So you need to get there early to be able to get a table. The table also aren't very big but due to the nature of the restaurant that wasn't too much of an issue.
The service was good. Very friendly and when they forgot about one of our orders they said sorry with the matcha plum wine for the group. Make sure to check their facebook page before going to see what's on special.
wow! this place is amazing! the service and quality of food and beer is enough to get anybody excited, ( they even serve sake & 18 year old japanese whiskey ) Friday nights here i come!!
Popped into here for lunch as most of St Kevin's was closed due to the summer holidays. The lunch menu is small (mainly just buns) but I was able to order off the bar menu (which starts at 3.30pm) without any issues which was great. I wanted to love the octopus ceviche - the avocado balances out the wasabi and the cucumber provides the needed crunch - but unfortunately I am an absolute wasabi wimp and couldn't handle more than a few bites. The pork katsu bun is probably up there with the buns at Chinoiserie and it's nice to see a Japanese take on it. Would be a great place to pop into after work for drinks & snacks.
By far the best place for Japanese in all of New Zealand not once in at least 50 visits has the food not been perfect the beer ice cold and the service second to none..beer and a feed for under 20 bucks now on K rd and its healthy food to boot..If your looking for good old fashioned manners lovely owners to hang out with then if you can find a better place then Im there with you too..6 out of 5 stars...open to 2am for you late nite munchers...
The selection of fine Japanese whisky, alone, could make me go to Acho's once a week or more. I am in love with this beverage scottish made famous and our Asian friends craft to perfection, and at Acho's you find a good options for a very reasonable price.
But more than whiskey, Acho's is home for street food (there they use the Spanish word "tapas"). Loyal to their roots (the bar follows a food truck), they keep it simple and cheap.
I basically tried everything from the food menu, which is made of small snacks, so please don't go there if your looking for a big meal.
So far, I'd say the stars are the raw octopus with avo and the deep fried seaweed, which comes with the snack set, but you can also order individual portions. Perfect to have with kirin beer.
Must also mention that the service is outstanding. Staff is friendly and courteous and will make you enjoy even more this amazing small place.
Super friendly proprietors, cold, cold beer and the chicken katsu bun was just outstanding. It's the perfect addition to St Kevs Arcade and a great place to camp up and sip that cold, cold beer on a hot day.
