Had steamboat buffet for 3 on 23/4/17. I've eaten at ALOT of Asian places across Auckland and I rate this place on my top list for steam boat. If you are looking for a nice place to dine during the wet and cold winter season this is the place to be.
Just had dinner here 18/04/17 Steamboat so loved the seafood
all you can eat for $26 per person so worth it thats including drinks & dessert (was not sure what some of the dessert was) apart from that I would return and recommend this place was so yum thank you

Best steam boat experience for me so far! Highly recommend. Great service. great food. friendly staff
The steamboat was awesome! Honestly it was a little confusing at first but it didn't take long to get use to it plus the staff were all so lovely and helpful. The food tasted fresh and delicious and the fact that desert and drinks were included was just an added bonus.. 10/10 we will definitely be going back!
Awesome environment, friendly staff and great food... Thanks for an awesome night tonight... Will definitely be back again..
Very nice dinner very full as well good price and good selection . Thanks alot
I've been twice and both times I have enjoyed the food!
The food is tasty and the portions are big, so it's also value for money.
Place looks amazing. Service, top notch and food, fresh, delicious and so much of it!.. WELCOME BACK!.. bigger and better.. We've missed you guys.

Yummy food &very good customer service. Definitly would go again.
Absolutely love this place
Steamboat was AMAZING. Will definitely be coming back for more.
Everytime I feel like pho my bf and I always come here. Delicious flavorful broth. The noodles are soft and chewy not sticking together cause some resturants they pre cook the noodles and once they pour in the water if tends to break which is real annoying. Quick service/amazing customer service and big ups to the chefs 👌🔥
We came here quite often, my favourite is the crab broth noodle soup. Their portion are quite generous, lots of seating area , and they do both menu food and steamboat buffet in the evenings.
Had the deluxe pho and spring rolls. Deluxe pho had lots of flavor and plenty of meat. Very good portion. Also tried the spring rolls. Was crunchy and filling was delicious. Service was quick and friendly.
8/10
So happy I found this place - it's a fuss free all you can eat hotpot buffet and it's pretty legit. $29 for a decent range of seafood, meats, soft drinks and cooked food. Staff are friendly and are happy to top the soup up. Would def recommend for a cheaper hot pot alternative!!!
One of the most extensive buffet choices you can get for $29. Great choice of meats to cook, veggies and other Chinese specialties. Also includes cooked dishes, desserts and drinks. Can’t fault them. Good friendly service
This our go to Vietnamese place along with Try it out. The Deluxe bowl is packed with veges, meat, vermicelli, and a spring roll to top it off! Must try :)
I love the hotpot here. They have a good selection of smorgasbord food like deep fried chilli and garlic ribs, nuggets and deep friend fish cakes. My favourite are the curry fishballs. I also love their desserts - I tried a deep-fried banana looking dessert thinking it would be a deep fried banana but it was actually filled with some sort of sweet bean, it was glutinous inside. I hope they never get rid of this dessert! I also appreciate how they have bottled fizzy drinks so you know you're not drinking the fake powdered stuff. The raw ingredients for the actual hotpot are great! I honestly feel like they've covered most seafood, meat and greens. Love how they have soy bean sheets and bamboo shoots as well! One criticism is how cramped the food station is. It is always an extremely stressful experience to go and get food and the floor is always slippery. The plates are not strategically placed and would probably be hard for children to get to. I also think the dishes need to be done at a faster pace and to a higher degree of cleanliness because there have been countless occasions where I've gone to get some food and there were no plates or just dirty ones.
Delicious food at a great price, wide range to choose from we frequent this place almost weekly and have had great service every time. Always busy but that's not surprised with how everything is.
We went to Saigon Kitchen on a Tuesday evening and the place was full, which is a great indication of its popularity. We ordered lemongrass chicken on vermicelli, bun bo hue (spicy beef soup with noodles) and Vietnamese pancake. The food was fresh and tasty. The pancake was crisp and had lots of delicious filling and the lettuce and mint complemented it perfectly. Bun bo hue has been my favourite since we visited Hue several years ago and I was not disappointed with the Saigon Kitchen version. Next time I will take my teenage son with us and try the hotpot buffet which looked very appetising.
Favourite Vietamnese restaurant in East Auckland! Food always delicious every time we go, I pretty much would recommend everything, especially the pho which has a deep broth, the Vietnamese pancakes which is so crispy and good! Summer rolls always wrapped tightly with lots of filling. Portions are very generous and filling. Only thing i wouldnt recommend is their Traffic Lights dessert. It wasnt a cup of green jelly, yellow beans, and red beans but rather grass jelly and red beans in coconut cream. Quite misleading.
Service is simple, you walk in and let them know if youre there for the menu or for hotpot. The staff are always helpful in explaining what is what.
Came here with my family on a Friday night. Very good value for kids. $1.70 for each year they are old. My twins loved the seafood. Mussels in the shell, prawns and baby octopus. Good selection of raw and cooked foods. All you can drink and desert - ice cream is pretty good. I would highly recommend to anyone to check this place out. Service was fast and friendly. Steam boat broth is good and a lot of condiments to choose from. A lot of families were there.
Best hotpot place in Manukau!
Staff are friendly and attentive, food selection is more than ample and their dessert bar is awesome.
Their deluxe beef pho is to die for. Pair that with lemon soda and your life will be complete :)
Crispy chicken wings are a must and their curry fish balls reminds me of the ones I had in Hong Kong. I personally love their Tom yam and chicken broth for the hot pot as it’s light and not too overpowering the other ingredients.
5/5 for food selection
3/5 for ambience (screaming kids running around amok)
5/5 for service
5/5 for properly labeled sauce and condiments (unlike other buffets I’ve been to)

Amazing Chinese owned Vietnamese Restaurant in Chinatown Building.
Being honest the noodles didn’t quite taste authentic, but they were not bad at all.
I’d give 3.5/5 for taste but the drinks were actually really good so 4/4 it is.
Rockmelon milk tea was nice.
Love this place. The male server is always very welcoming. Got the beef pho although I usually get pork/chicken on rice. Love this place. We always visit for lunch even though we are based in manukau. Also, they serve ice tea on a hot summer’s day which is a bonus.
This place is great. I love the full selection foods presented hot, cold, fried, raw and the list goes on drinks are free at self fill. For my first time I enjoyed experimenting with different foods, most foods I enjoyed and very minor I disliked.
Saigon kitchen is worth every dollar best $28 I've spent in a long time. For the amount of food to choose from $28 is a good price. Highly recommended.
I ordered takeaway for Summer Roll, Wood Ear Pork Ball Noodle, Avocado Smoothies.
Haven’t been there for a few months, they can keep the standard, very good! And the waiting time is fast. Tried many Vietnamese restaurants, they are the best, Highly recommend!
Came here last night and it was super busy! Staff were running around and we were kinda confused whether to take a seat but after waiting for a few minutes they seated us and brought some tea over.
Most people there were there for the all you can eat hot pot but we ordered from the menu.
The service was slow and the food took about 20mins but they were busy and very under staffed so I can’t be mad about that.
The food was actually quite nice.
Compared to my other favourite Vietnamese restaurant(Try it Out) the food is less oily and the Lemon Grass Chicken was much more juicy!
I don’t know if it’s worth the drive from where I live but if you live in the area it’s definitely a place worth trying:)
Big portions and big flavours.
Pork mince skewers are really good.
Beef pho is a must order when you’re here.
Convenience: 5/5

Affordable price and quite big portion. Fresh vegetable as well. Yummy ..美味しかった、おすすめです。どうもありがとうございます. (In a hot day lunch, maybe you can serve plain cold water instead of hot tea) thank you
Always have a great time dining here! Food and service is 10/10. Always packed with diners at night for the steamboat! $28 per person and a choice of plain soup, tom yum or spicy!
One of the better steamboat restaurant. The prawns were really fresh and sweet although we only ate 3 pieces each as there were lots of other selections. There were crabs too but were not as fresh as the prawns. The lamb and beef slices were cheap cuts, not premium hence quite fatty. Love the Thai (or perhaps should be Vietnamese) fish cakes. The varieties were really good including deserts with ice cream. Good value for money at $28 each. A good venue for family dinner and it was nice to see the oldies happily enjoying their ice cream in a cone.
Came in for dinner tonight. The wontons were really good. Size was small. Tried all the desserts and the best would be the coconut sago. The steamed egg was also very good, it tasted like the inside of an egg tart. Chocolate ice cream was real rich. Would definitely come back again.
If you're after an Asian hot pot experience, Saigon Kitchen is the place to go.
☑ Variety (meat, seafood, sauces, hot dishes, desserts)
☑ Good service
☑ Reasonably priced
I have to say for me it’s the best Vietnamese restaurant that I’ve been to. Love the Pho here, so authentic. The hot pot buffet is definitely value for money. The most important aspect for me to have buffet is not the variety of food, but freshness of the food. The restaurant ticks both boxes. The pancake is a surprise. Highly recommended!
Located in the heart of East Tamaki at China Town. Heaps of parking space, generous portion, reasonable price and good quality food! Friendly staff, very enjoyable experience!
Surprisingly Chinatown really delivers when it comes to quality food establishments, this week because of the rather rainy weekend, nothing beats the rain like a bowl of piping hot pho.
Now to be fair I'm not 100% sure if this place is owned by Vietnamese but it doesn't matter cause the pho here is fantastic, the portions are out of this world and there is plenty of meat to go alongside the noodles. In terms of atmosphere this wouldn’t be a place that I take someone for a first date unless I knew that the person was as interested in eating as I am, still, if you're after some great tasting Vietnamese food, Saigon Kitchen is an absolutely fantastic choice.
Showstopper: Big bowls of pho.

A decent place to go when you don't know what to eat or just too many mouths to satisfy. Have been there for a few times now and the quality and quantity of their foods and services are quite stable and fast. Very spacious and lots of seats available. But if you are going on Friday or weekend night, make sure to reserve a seat or get there early. Otherwise you might need to seat in the Chinatown foodcourt outside the restaurant. The buffet food selection areas could be a bit more spacious, too...
Nice variety of selections: salmon heads, crabs, prawns, squid, shaved meats, different types of tofus, 3-4 types of green veggies, different types of noodles/vermicelli (I don't even know what they are exactly) etc. Love their wontons, make sure to take some when you see them as they runs out so fast! I found their cooked hot food are quite salty though. The saigo taro soup and grass jelly and chia seeds drink are definitely recommended! But wouldn't recommend the jelly desserts.
They are doing a great job keeping their environment and tables clean. And the food services are quite fast, especially considering there are always so many customers. You can still spot some suspicious spots on their plates sometimes but would say it is reasonable, not too fussed about it...
The food here is fantastic I have tried most of the menu and they all fantastic very authentic. Ice coffee is beautiful, and the service is great, very quick with the food, if the restaurant is full it might be a little delay with the food but just because they are very busy with all the orders to come but it is worth it in the which the food is beautiful and you don't have to wait too long anyway if it's busy. I just keep coming back more and more
I honestly can not get enough of this place! We have not tried the hot pot buffet yet but i can honestly say the choices look amazing and it is on our to do list. We have been here quite a few Times now and ordered from their menu. The spring rolls were very good. We have tried several types of pho and they were amazing. Large portion and tasty broth. This place gets busy so be sure to book in advance especially if you are going g for hot pot. The front of house staff is very kind and always squeezes us in when it is busy and they had even took the time to explain the hot pot to us as it looked a little intimidating since we had never done it before. The waitstaff gets very busy with the crowed but is always very attentive and polite. They are also very knowledgeable about the menu and have provided good suggestions. Will return and highly recommend. Food Quality and service has been consistently good with every visit regardless on the crowd size.
Really nice Vietnamese food! We had the chicken wings, spicy beef/pork rice noodle soup, and lemongrass chicken on rice, all of which was very tasty. The portions were good and the prices are pretty cheap. Will definitely be back.
Another good find in Chinatown. The Deluxe Bowl with pork and spring rolls are my go-to dishes. The rice vermicelli noodles with shredded pork, pork patties and spring rolls has a good amount of serving. The pork patties and spring rolls are very tasty and has the authentic Vietnamese flavour. Although, the service could be better as sometimes we have to wait to get the menu, to take our orders and for the food to arrive. We normally go there at lunchtime in a weekend and they can be really busy. The price is reasonable and the restaurant itself is spacious.
Service was exceptional, the waitress catered to our every need she was amazing , would highly recommend the restaurant to anyone who loves good food
Located at the heart of Chinatown is this steamboat buffet restaurant. The service was pretty decent as when we went in, we were given a table immediately even without reservations. You have to pay first before you eat though. I thought we would have to choose what broth we want but that was not the case. After a minute, a guy immediately gave us our hotpot. I went straight for the meat section and the balls section. The food was okay and its what you get from a buffet steamboat. I would have preferred if they had the chinese BBQ sauce there as thats what I was used to whenever I ate hotpot before but not a big deal. I didnt try the cooked meal as it didnt look that appetizing to me but my partner said it was good, especially since it took us awhile to get the hotpot boiling again. Overall I will come back here again when I crave for some hotpot.
Good buffet dinner where we had 3 different hot pot (satay chicken, chilli, tom yum). Service/front of house service was a little bit poor. There was plenty of veges, meat and sauce options around which was quite good with the soup base (despite it being somewhat bland). the atmosphere is decent and environments ok (some hazards with wet floors around the area)
Saigon Kitchen is located at where Paragon Restaurant was (in China Town). Steamboat is what most customers are coming for, though ordered food is also available. (I think the owners were local Vietnamese Chinese who once operated restaurants of similar style in Otahuhu & then in Somerville in the past 10/20 years.) The ready-to-eat food was not just supplementary, but fairly well-cooked - sweet-chilli mussels, deep-fried chicken wings, braised hocks... A wide variety of food for steamboat & desserts were also available.
(Food - 3/5; Service - 4/5; Ambience - 2/5)
First time here and on one of the coldest winter days so far. You know as soon as you step into the restaurant that it is not a warm place, the staff are wearing quilted winter overcoats and beanies. But as long as you are seated away from the constantly opening outside doors which result in a cold draught and you are warmly dressed then the food you order starts to speak for itself.
I had a really flavourful shredded chicken noodle soup, one of the best in a long while. My two sons were also very happy with their pho choices, lemongrass pork noodle & deluxe beef.
We were there for lunch and while the restaurant was busy there were plenty of tables available.
Went here for dinner, Awesome food and quick service. Had rare beef noodle soup, beautiful flavours. Very accomodating to my needs. Would recommend to everyone 😊
This winter, Saigon Kitchen would be your preferable choice for dining out, they have all you can eat hotpot for $26 with a wide variety of raw food you can select from. From cooked food to raw meat they have roughly three big trolleys of food for customers to select from. When customers are hungry and are waiting for their hotpot food to be cooked, their deep fried chicken is to die for, very hot and crispy which means it is very fresh and also they have cooked mussels awaiting.
Hotpot meat you have lamb, beef, chicken, pork to cater for everyone~
Must GO when you are near burswood and wanting a hotpot in a very cold evening.~
Went there for buffet dinner the other day, but they were so full! Even the people who booked end up waiting for a while. We decided to order their dishes from the menu. I have to say im quite happy with my meal! I ordered the bun bo hue! I think it was good! I also enjoyed the spring rolls. My friend enjoyed her lemon grass chicken on vermicelli.
The prices are reasonable, and the portions are very generous. The service was pretty quick and efficient. I can't wait to try their buffet!!
I've been here a few times and I always order their deluxe pho. My dad is from Vietnam so I have tried authentic Vietnamese food. The food there was full of flavour and is definitely one if the better Vietnamese restaurants in Auckland. Love how there's a lot to eat in one meal. The beef soup is to die for. The pho itself has definitely got the aunthentic Vietnamese taste I was looking for. I sometimes order their cha gio which is amazing. So crispy and so flavorful. The people who work there are also really nice and friendly. Highly recommend!
I've been here about 5 times now thanks to a friend of mine introducing me to it! Absolutely hands down the best beef pho I've ever had in Auckland each and every time! The broth is always full of flavour, theres plenty of meat too. The service is always great and the restaurant is pretty and dimly lit for a relaxed vibe. I brought my partner here two nights ago and he agreed it was the best pho he's had. There's also a good amount of drinks that they offer too including milk tea! Will continue to come here to eat as long as the food and service stays as it is 😊😊😊
Pretty good stuff, large portions for a very decent price. Food was really good and pretty fast service even during lunch hours. Clean and nice ambience.
I have been here twice. Their service is awesome, they made me a special Tom Yum soup base as I am a vegetarian and advised me if I need to refill flavour just let them know. Must try their dessert - Taro Sago. 26.00 per person, very beautiful price.
I absolutely enjoyed the dinner at Saigon kitchen. We ordered the beef pho and lemongrass pork bun. Both were delicious! Huge portions as well. The restaurant is busy but the service was quick! Will return and try their hotpot buffet next time.
At lunch, they normally just have menu items but at night they also offer hot pot. Hot pot has plenty of options for meat, seafood, veges and noodles. They also have a selection of condiments, drinks and dessert which go with the buffet. They also had pre-made hot food options but I only liked the salt and spicy pork. If you don't like hot pot they also still have the menu items.
A big issue was that it did take a while to get the hot pot going. Other than that we were able to have people eating hot pot and from the menu on the same table.
A group of my workmates decided to try this place out for lunch. We used to go to Try It Out for Vietnamese, however this new restaurant seems to be quite popular and a workmate recommended this.
I ordered my standard lemongrass chicken noodle soup to compare.
The broth was rich in flavour, with a generous helping of noodles and fillings. The soup contained more pork mince, spring onion and corriander than other places I have been to.
I liked how the chicken wasn't shallow fried/deep fried like many other Vietnamese places, this mean the chicken was succulent not dry.
Comparing this to Try It Out and even Hansan, I would rate the Lemongrass Chicken Noodle Chicken superior in flavour.
My workmate swears by wonton noodle soup and said his rice dish wasn't as good.
This place is used to be Paragon restaurant. We went here last week lunch time to try out their food but boy was packed full so decided to eat somewhere else. Yesterday however we came back as I was very keen to try their steamboat. I must say, its not too bad. There is a lot of choices from meat to vegies, cooked foods, desserts and sauces. They all looked fresh. The soup base however is a bit bland. Not as tasty as compared to the other buffet steamboat we have been. On the brighter side though the staff's were very friendly and efficient. Overall, not a bad experience at all, would love to come back at lunch time to try their other menu 😉✌🏻
As a family with decided to dine here for lunch after hearing some great reviews from the follow Vietnamese community.
We ordered Cambodian noodles, pho x 2, and pho dact beit. All dishes held generous servings of noodle, broth, and meat. Very delicious. Highly recommend and one of the better phos you can get in Auckland! Also ordered the spring rolls which were freshly made and very delicious, very authentic Vietnamese cuisine here!
For drinks we ordered mango and durian smoothies, now durian is very acquired taste. . Haha, it's fresh and very delicious. The mango however taste like it's just mango concentrate.
Very busy restaurant, the staff seem rushed off their feet but we were seated and orders taken in a timely manner. However tables were left for a while before they were cleared. . But oh well, the food is worth it as there's was a steady flow of customers coming in and out.
This place opened 22 January, 2017. We went there a week later to check out its $25/hd steamboat. To put it briefly, the selection of food available was amazing. This is one place that cannot go wrong. The service was very prompt and good even though the place was packed.
We went back tonight for steamboat. The place was full house and some of the customers who could not get seats in the restaurant opt to be seated in the Chinatown food court. This tells you how extremely popular this place is.
Came here for a quick Sunday lunch. we got the satay beef noodles, grilled pork vermicelli and the friend spring rolls. All were yum but my favourite has to be the spring rolls that’s came with a tasty dipping sauce. The satay beef noodles weren’t that yum and tasted a bit weird but the vermicelli was good. I will say however that they give way less meat and mostly give noodles. We also got some drinks which were really good.
Overall would recommend for a quick lunch in china town.
Long overdue review
Saigon Kitchen is my go-to Vietnamese spot almost on a weekly basis in the past 2 years or so.
The flavour of their pho is decent for NZ standards. But best of all they kept their pricing modest and generous with their portions when compared to all other vietnamese joints.
Plenty of onsite parkings with easy access. The restaurant is spacious and toilet hygiene is acceptable.
Tried the vermicelli pork noodles, it’s better than the nearby Try it out Vietnamese version. Reallllly flavourful pork. Also super friendly staff! Would go back to try other dishes
Tried out the Steamboat Buffet for $38 per Adult. Child prices depends on age. There's a variety of frozen meats and seafood, as well as cooked foods, vegetables, cold entrées and desserts. The dessert range is actually pretty good. You can get the ice cream which is in the freezer in the ice cream tubs. Clean and tidy atmosphere. The Pho is very good value for money, big portions and lots of options to choose from
Hotpot is perfect on these cold Auckland nights. Always feel satisfied but not over stuffed. Veges and all the yummy meat and finished off with crabs and prawns.
First time trying their hotpot buffet. I had no idea this place was quite popular. It was quite packed during the time we were here. They have a small selection of hot food. Then the rest are veges, meat and seafood to be cooked. For the hot food I really liked their lamb brisket and their egg omelette. For the hotpot stuff, my go to was the sliced beef, salmon head, cuttlefish and the squid. My wife's favourite is the crab. The seafood here is quite fresh and no bad ammonia aftertaste. They also have a small selection of dessert in the end. There was coconut jelly, coffee jelly and coconut sago soup with yam and also of course ice cream which I didn't go for. Our favourite was the sago, it was nicely cooked sweet, slightly thick and the yam flavour was good. Overall, this place is good priced and the selection of food is great. Service is not bad, staff comes and collect the used plates, but it is a buffet after all.

Loved it. Beautiful inside. Comfortable and looks decent. Price is a bit up there but over all were happy. As usual the toilets were not really clean. If the toilets were checked more often and kept clean it would be the whole 5 stars. Loved the dumplings by the way. 👌
Saigon kitchen is our neighbourhood favourite and it just hits the spot with all things Vietnamese food offers. The hotpot is already busy but for us, it’s the menu items that deliver. Their classic Hainanese chicken packs a lot of flavour and always fills me up. Their Pho is another favourite of ours and we never go here without having the spring rolls, add a bit of sriracha in the nuoc nam and it’s amazing! Overall I highly recommend this if you’re looking for hearty and homely meals
Delicious food, great service, lots of options. One of my top 5 favourite restaurants!! 😀
Food is always consistently good.
Portions are reasonable for the price.
The staff are chill which I personally like.
I never have to book there is always a table when I go.
Best place for pork Chop with rice Vet Style they been around for over 24 years they use to be at Otahuhu like 20 years ago when i arrived in New Zealand. you know it's gonna be good when a restaurant survives over 10 years without changing owners

Friendly and fast service, the food is so good. It’s one of my regular visit restaurant. The night buffet is super good value plus there is a lot variety. Highly recommend to all the people and family. VH
Absolutely loved this place! Price was so good to, all you can eat and that includes dessert and drinks too which I thought was so good ! Really loved the experience and would happily go back.
Pho beef and dry vermicilli w grilled pork are always my to go dishes here. The grilled pork is my fav and the portion is generous as well..w great value
I have been to Saigon Kitchen for hotpot buffet dinner many times and I absolutely love it. Today is my first time trying their a la carte menu. My sister in law and I ordered no.13 deluxe beef pho (pho dac biet) and no.9 steamed rice rolls (bauh cuon) to share. The pho is the best I tried in Auckland so far. The steam pork rice rolls is very delicious too. I wish my stomach could be a bit bigger so i can try more dishes on the menu. Definitely will visit again.
Great Vietnamese food here. A large restaurant that gets pretty busy during lunch time. Spicy bun bo hue was on point. Definitely will come back again! Plenty of car parking but might be busy on the weekend since it's part of the Chinatown complex.
Reminded me of times gone past. Delicious food cooked authentically. Fare prices. Humble abode. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
