The best sisig I've had in Auckland. Unassuming place on K Road with very friendly service and very reasonably priced but great Filipino food. Will be coming back to try more of the dishes.
One of my Filipino favourites! Their tocilog and bagnet dishes are superb, the kare kare and crispy pata are real highlights too. This place also does amazing Jollibee-style fried chicken and spaghetti which hits the spot when craving that type of food. Very friendly family setting and authentic dishes, a must try!
An Authentic Filipino Heirloom Cuisine in Auckland..always a pleasure to dine at Ensalada Cafe Kudos to Stella and Barry Chef owners. A must visit..👌👌👌👌👌
Stopped by for a late lunch around 1400. It was empty and so I was able to sit at a table and get the menu. They took my order at the table. I ordered the sizzling spicy pork sisig and the BBQ skewers.
The sisig was nice. Good flavours and textures and the right amount of spiciness. The BBQ skewers were also good but aren't the best I've had since they didn't have that charcoal flavour. They were still flavourful and quite succulent (since they were cubes or meat which made them a bit different for the others). The Java rice was a bit bland and overcooked since some bits were chewy and crispy. I'm just a sucker of buko pandan since it is one of the best desserts you can eat.
Food is nice and there is quite a selection of different items. It isn't very big so you might want to book if you have a large group. On a side note, it does look like they offer karaoke if you're up for it.
GREAT FILIPINO FOOD 💖 Almost all the dishes I’ve tried is really nice but my most favourite is the JOLLIE BLAIR and the sauce hmmmmm 😍😋 Lovely service as expected from Filipinos 💖 Keep up the good work guys! xx
I think I have tried almost everything in their menu, but my personal favourites are Jolly Blair, Bagnet and Crispy Pata (yes, I am a dry-feeding person). When I was still working in Freeman’s Bay, I always went pass the place on my way to/from work and never missed a chance to eat there Friday/Saturday as a reward for a week of hard work. Being there made me feel at home.. as you can see the place is full of pictures of tourist spots in the Philippines. The staff and owners are very friendly and welcoming. And if your looking for authentic Filipino dishes Ensalada is the place to be.
Been coming here for a while and I always find it pretty homey. The service is awesome, they are so accomodating and super friendly. Being Filipino, I think I consider their food as levelled up home cooking. It’s got the familiar flavours I would find if I came to a relative’s house but with more impact. One of my favourites is beef salpicao (not pictured). But a new favourite is the bagnet kare kare. It’s such an awesome combo of two yummy dishes. You get the delicious peanut based sauce of the kare kare with crunchy skin and tender meat of bagnet. During this visit, we also had fish sarciado, bicol express and pancit. All really good but gotta give the fish sarciado a special mention, the sauce around the fish was so good and such a good leadup to the fish. For dessert, we had turon a la mode and it was delicious. Bonus points for quotables quotes that come with the dessert, thought that was crackup. Ahhh almost forgot! The iced tea is the bomb here. Definitely coming back again and again for some more delicious Filipino dishes~
Great authentic homemade Filipino food! The owners are welcoming and lovely and the portions are generous. I recommend getting the barkada meal if your dining with 4 people because it's worth the money. If you are quite critical about Filipino food in NZ this is a must try because the flavours are close to being back to the philippines
Great food and excellent service! Love their barkada deals! Today, my dad and I ordered their bangsilog and grilled pork and its so delish. I would definitely recommend this place 👌🏻
Affordable prices for the most authentic Filipino restaurant I've been to. The also have the best deal when dining with a group. Endless rice and home made iced tea. Can't get any better than that
Food tastes great! They are really one of our top choices to go for Filipino food. Staff are always friendly and accommodating.
I just hope they will move to a bigger and nicer place soon. :)
Good food, service was fairly fast and friendly and nice staff. First time to try this cosy restaurant and it was a good dining experience for us. Tried their Bagnet platter, Bangsilog and Bicol Express and they were all spot on with the Filipino flavours. I am still seeking for a Filipino restaurant that serves boneless bangus though!
We’ve only been to try Filipino dishes maybe twice. Therefore we were not sure how the food should taste. We felt overall, Ensalada has delivered quite good, especially for quick tasty lunch out.
Service was great, restaurant was very clean and organised. Generous dish and good taste.
Salmon head was too sour for our liking but we believe thats probably how they were mean to be.
Deep fried fish was interesting and probably my favourite with apples and tomatoes, interesting combination.
Pork sisig and java rice were both quite nice.
Would probably be back at some point tried other dishes.
Parking can be an issue but try to park around Mercury lane.

Not bad. Out of the three Filipino food establishments I've been to this was "ok"/"sakto lang" the staff is really friendly and accommodating though but that's a different matter from food.

Visited this restaurant yesterday... We ordered tocilog (tocino, itlog and sinangag)... Big serving in an affordable price... Easy to find location... Definitely coming back...
The everything on the menu is amazing, the owners are super nice and friendly, the restaurant itself is rather small but it gives the place a very home-like atmosphere.

My family and I enjoyed Ensalada's food. We had the jollylair and bbq. The chicken were nice and soft on the inside and the gravy was sweet, complimenting the chicken very well. The bbq pork weren't chewy as well. They were nice and moist on the inside. Compare to other filipino eateries, Ensalada has, by far, the best taste. Portions were good and people behind the counter were very friendly and accomodating. However, the wait time can be improved. I hope your business grows bigger so we can enjoy your delicious food in a spacious cafe :)
Laila Razik and i had dinner here a few weeks back and we ordered kare kareng bagnet, pork sisig with rice and iced tea. Mmmmm sarap! Would definitely come back!
The best Filipino restaurant by far. Love the friendly staff. Amazing food. Great service. Great ambiance. A must try restaurant. You'll love it. No doubt.
Have tried Pork Bagnet and pork sisig here and it's very satisfactory with good ambience and location is accessible to downtown. Good place to try out Filipino food !!
Lovely staff. Very friendly and helpful. I liked the beverages which sort of doubled as a dessert.
The food is nicely presented but lacked that extra something to make it memorable. In other words, the food looked nicer than you expected it to taste.
Excellent service an food 😊 been here a few times with friends love it. Jolly chicken is amazing!!! You won't be disappointed with this. Will take more friends here in the future.
Must try is their barkada meal. I personally prefer the Bagnet Platter, Beef Bulalo and Pork Sisig. I also like their iced tea which is refillable!
I absolutely love Filipino food! I grew up living with a Filipino lady. She was like my second mum, unfortunately she passed away last December... and I really miss her cooking. The food in Ensalada cafe reminds me of her cooking... it made me all warm and fuzzy ❤️
I absolutely love the cornned beef silog, garlic rice and the crispy pork! Obviously i had to have them with vinegar and garlic dipping sauce. It was so good!!
I can't wait to go back and try their sisig, dinuguan and kare kare... looking forward to trying some longanisa too!
Great little cafe! Very friendly service and lovely food ❤️
Food was great! Service was excellent. The food taste very authentic. Kinda reminds me of my hometown - pampanga. The food price is affordable. If you're having a walk around the city, this place is a must on your list.
If you miss food from the philippines You should eat at ensalada cafe. Their food is always cook deliciously and you really know that they serve only the best!the staff is very accomodating and friendly. Since i work near by the resto i would eat there regularly and everytime the experience and the food exceeds my expectations ! I have brought some of most my friends at Ensalada cafe and each one of them love it and recommend it to their. I would not have second thoughts of recommending this resto to my friends. More power to you Ensalada cafe and i assure i will always promote your resto!!!!
Reminds me so much of home! I have been craving for filipino food and finally i get to try this place. The pork sisig is good and the tapsilog my friend ordered is good too. The iced tea was so much like home. Will definitely come back here
Ang Sarap! went here on the recommendation of a Filipina I know and it was great! I ordered the fish escabeche and it was very fresh and delicious. Can you please open a restaurant in Wellington as I'm moving there soon and love your food!
Been here for a couple of times with my husband. Everytime we eat here, we always come out full and satisfied. They make sure that all their customers are entertained and they even ask you from time to time "how is the food". Highly recommended. We'll definitely keep coming back!😄
I am completely satisfied with the food they serve. It is delicious and clean. I have tasted the other Filipino food from other Filipino resto and so far, okay talaga ito and worth your money's worth. So lucky that we live 2 blocks away. =) I have been recommending this place to other Filipinos here in Auckland who are looking for a quality Filipino food in Auckland CBD.
Been here about three times now. I would definatley reccomend the pork sisig (about 17 bux).
Staff are pretty friendly, environments pretty relax and allows convos with friends.
Only bad thing thing was rice took a little while but that too was worth it (garlic rice)
Def worth the trip.
My partner and I (she's filipino) have been trying different filipino restaurants around town. Most are pretty good, but Ensalada is the one we keep coming back to.
The service is always amazing and friendly, the food fresh and delicious (the sisig is to die for)! Highly recommend this to anyone that likes tasty food for a great price!
I'm a big fan of Ensalada. Warm and friendly owners and staff. I love everything that comes out of their kitchen. Must try crispy pata, tapsilog (i already like tapa but the garlic rice, vinegar, and pickled veggies are also champs), dinuguan, and of course.. halo halo
*Excellent food - With a range of authentic Filipino cuisine to choose from that will satisfy your cravings.
*Great Service - Will serve your food on time and still hot on the plate.
*Friendly Staff - Ensalada team always serve with a smile. You can even talk to the owners, Barry and Estee who are all hands on, serving and mingling with the customers and will go the extra mile to satisfy your taste buds.
Highly recommended and although we have already been there 3 times, we are still so looking forward to the next visit.
- From a Very Satisfied Customer :-D
I always come here with friends and family and by far, this is the BEST filipino restaurant I have been to! The atmosphere, the staff, but most of all the delicious food is what drives us to come back here time and time again. If you're looking for great and authentic Filipino food, THIS is it! My favorite is the chicken sisig, as well as the refreshing iced tea! I so highly recommend Ensalada Cafe!
Food here is very good, what I like about it is that it has Filipino and International food. I recommend this place. In fact, when you leave the place you will come out very satisfied :)
A very good place with nice environment and nice service. The food was really good and really generous quantity. All staff members were very nice and accommodating. It surely felt like home 😍😍😍
Am literally eating in this restaurant now. friendly and warm restaueant with a friendly owner and a beautiful daughter.
the food is decently priced considering nz standard and feels like home even though we are 9hours away from home.
I came here with a bunch of Fillipino friends and it was quite enjoyable. One of the mate has been a regular visitor here so she ordered the whole food. All the chicken , pork and fish dishes are very delicious . I like their special deserts made in coconut and milk. Price is also quite reasonable considering its location however you need to tell them in advance if you plan to visit in big group.
I would love come here again :)
Authentic Filipino one of few restaurant in Auckland city, I heard filipino are very nice & good in hospitality .that was exactly true.A warm welcome from pinay girl.i never ate Filipino food before ,I have suggestion from my pinay friends ,so I decided to eat TACILOG & that was amazing delicious.Pork x rice.tge lady is so nice pinay she give me seafood rice(free) 😍.SALAMAT PO : )
I'll surely come back : )
Been to Ensalada twice. What a good experience! Owner Stella welcoming and certainly entertaining customers and husband Barry the Chef, are doing a great job. Equally does Erica the waitress. The place is very clean and the food is honest and tasty. Last time I had a Sinigang soup. So good. A bowl full of vegetables with pork on a tamarind based soup. Well balanced and seasoned. Refreshing flavour. I will ask for a bigger portion next time, so yummy! Can't wait for Friday to come for another dose of Stella/Barry. Great to have a business with personality.
went there for lunch earlier with some friends from Norwegian Star Cruise! the place was awesome, very accommodating staff and great food as well! We're happy we brought them there, hindi kami napahiya and we are proud to tell them oh hey welcome to auckland where we have lots of good people, great food, specifically filo food! =)
I reply enjoyed the chicken Sisig since I love chicken. I loved my first visit so I brought my 4 sons for my 25th year old son's birthday. They all loved their meals ordering the steak, pork ribs and the burger. The service was so good although it was a late night. Thank you for a great night out. I will definitely be returning.
Amazing food! My husband and I were visiting on our honeymoon and staying at the Langham hotel down the street. We came across this place one evening and saw how crowded it was and took that as a good sign. The staff was super friendly and cleared a table for us after a large group left. Ordered the iced tea, it is a must have! Delicious! I ate the basil pesto pasta, seriously one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. Husband got the crispy Pata, it was exactly what he had been craving. We also got a side of garlic rice. Very good. We ended up coming back a second night for dinner. This time husband got the surf and turf, said the steak was cooked better than some high end restaurants. I got the tapsilog, also very good. Wish we could've tried more dishes, everything sounds amazing.
My sister was here yesterday with her friends for dinner. When she came back home, she told us how they enjoyed their foods. So today we went here for lunch with half of our families and voila!!! it was so good!!! Everybody enjoyed their foods as much as we enjoyed Stella and Barry. It was a perfect day for us, with a perfect food, perfect weather and great hospitality.
Actually, I was reading all the reviews here before going there. And I proved to myself why they didn't get any bad reviews, it's simply because they are serious about their foods. The only thing is we're hoping that you will have a bigger space so you can accommodate a bigger crowd. ✌️️Anyway, this is a must try restaurant. Will definitely be back.....soon. ❤️️your iced tea!!!
Thanks guys 😘 Keep up the good works.👍
Authentic home-style cooking at its best. Ensalada Cafe may be the newest Filipino Restaurant in Auckland, but sure does not show any signs of being a beginner in their craft. Ensalada Cafe, situated in the famous and always busy K Road, offers reasonably priced Filipino and International Cuisine that will definitely make you look forward to your next visit. We ordered the Barkada Special, which was good for four adults (and 2 pre-schoolers!) -- A bowl of pork sinigang, Bagnet, Sisig, Unlimited Rice, Unlimited Iced Tea and Leche Flan for dessert. I have to say, Ensalada Cafe has the best iced tea in Auckland, reminiscent of how Iced Tea is made and served in The Philippines. Truly refreshing specially on a hot summer day. The Bagnet and The Pork Sisig did not disappoint, and the servings were ample enough for all of us. The Leche Flan was given a different twist on how it was usually served, by topping it with Langka and Vanilla Ice Cream. The end result was a delicious combination of western and Filipino tastes. The Pork Sinigang for me, was the main highlight of our meal. The soup was amazing, as it used gabi to give a richer texture and flavor to the dish -- just like how your Mom, your Tita, or your Lola cooked it back home. Overall, it was a truly enjoyable experience. Will come back soon for the Tocilog ang Bangusilog for sure ;) Thank you, Tita Stella for being a most gracious host.
We ordered pork sisig and beef bulalo. Great food, big servings too! All in all good dining experience. I will definitely come back and recommend this place to friends.
I recently dined here with my family and 3 other friends. Food servings were huge and yummy! Definitely worth our buck. The owner was friendly and looked after her customers well. The only downside to our experience was the small, cramped-up dining area which left no room for my 10-month old son to wander around.
Amazing and really authentic Filipino food - my step family is Filipino so I definitely know the classics. At Ensalada they are cooked to perfection! We only had limited time in Auckland but still managed to come here 3 times, in fact we didn't even bother to find another restaurant. If you always wanted to try filipino food - this is the place! All dishes we tried were delicious and the owner is a lovely lady who will definitely brighten your day :) This would be our go-to restaurant if we lived in Auckland!
I saw this restaurant thru my friends posting pictures on Facebook that they eaten and been to Ensalada. The name struck us as a Filipino restaurant. We got enticed more in seeing their pictures that lead us to check their menu and prices. Prices looked very affordable and the pictures looked like the food was prepared by a master chef. So my wife and I decided to have dinner there with the kids. I must say that the food did not disappoint us at all. The pictures we saw were the real thing when the food starting coming out. We really recommend this place for it's value for money and such lovely host. We felt very welcome and just like having a meal at home. We ordered the barkada feast - Pork Sisig, Bagnet, Bulalo, Leche Flan (with vanilla ice cream and langka slices), unlimited rice and bottomless ice tea! The food is really good and again highly recommended.
Had dinner here tonight with friends and we had the 2x family/barkada feast for 7 people it was totally worth it! The sisig was really good! Also their buko pandan and leche flan was really yummy. I would definitely come back here
My wife and I, together with 2 other friends, had dinner here on recommendation from other friends who have raved about the nice food and excellent service. They were absolutely spot on!!! We ordered the meal for 4 people at $75.00 which included crispy thinly sliced pieces of pork called bagnet, spicy chicken sisig, pork sinigang which had a flavourful thick soup base, coconut and pandan dessert and unlimited servings of white rice and bottomless iced tea! Wow, what a treat!!! I am definitely coming back to try the other offerings they have on the menu. Well done Ensalada!!!
My partner and I stopped in to sample the Philippine food here, and we enjoyed the dishes we ordered very much. Everything is freshly cooked to order in this cozy, attractive cafe, and the family that owns Ensalada really cares about their customers! They are planning on expanding the menu by adding more fish dishes to the current large selection of dishes featuring pork. Try Ensalada - you'll have a wonderful experience!
I have not eaten Filipino food before so was very pleased with the range of 5 tasty and different dinner dishes. I enjoyed them all! Friendly staff and good service, so we had a very nice time. Had a Filipino friend with us so we had already discussed the kind of dishes that were available, but Stella was helpful and lovely to chat with after our meal as well. Recommended particularly if there were bigger tables for us Kiwis with big appetites :)
Good food, fast service and very helpful, friendly staff made for a really enjoyable dinner with a group of friends. Would definitely recommend.
The food was great and the staff was friendly and very service minded. We had a lovely evening with friends and food. First time I tried Filipino food and really enjoyed it.
Very welcoming atmosphere. Great service, food fresh and cook beautifully. I've worked in the airline catering industry for over 25 years.. many chefs tables, many presentations. The taste of the food in this restaurant is comparable to first class food made for top airlines of the world.
I love the menu selection- just the dishes I missed back home. I like that the flavors are original Filipino. Excellent service - hospitality comes out naturally being a family-managed business. Ambience is fresh and light. Price is just right as well.
The food taste good i feel like im in the Philippines the Hospitality Service is Awesome ill recommend this one to my filipino friends 👍👍👍
Been here a few times now, I remember when they were still in Downtown serving salad, I was pleasantly surprised when i came to the Kroad cafe and found out that they were serving Filipino food. Serving sizes are good, and the value is great when compared to the prices you are paying, and on top of that, taste wise, its pretty decent. My only complaint is that the location is a bit far from the CBD, but other than that, 100% would come back
Our group had dinner for the first time and was extremely satisfied with the quality of food but most exceptional was the great service and attention to customers needs. Definitely a winner whether your dining-in or ordering take-out.
Been craving for bagnet this past few months so decided to visit this new cafe in upper queen street. Was very much satisfied with the taste of their food. Truly an authentic Filipino style of cooking. Food was superb including their pork binagoongan and the serving, ah! very much worth the money! Customer service was great also and the staff are so pleasant, friendly and hospitable. Can't wait for their pares and halo-halo!!! Two thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻
I'm a fan of bagnet, so I was super happy when my partner brought me here. Their bagnet is super good, Worth it. 😂 I will definitely come back to this place and try all the variety of their dishes. Filipino cuisine is still the best!
Super tasty food - had the Bicol Express which is nothing pretty to look at, but 'wow'. Perfect balance between the chilli and the shrimp paste. Spicy, fragrant and just really tasty. Super friendly service too. Many thanks.
Food was absolutely fantastic, highly recommended. ❤️ the pork and selections of pasta and salads were my favourite 😍😍
If your looking for just a place to dine out or catering, check them out. There Asian fusion style food makes it a great place to go.
Thank you for the Fantastic food at our conferences!!
Great way to eat Filipino food at its finest.
The Pork and chicken pasta was my favourite.
If your interested in tasting Filipino food but don't want to travel far this is the place to go.
New Filipino Fusion restaurant in Auckland. Very nice food and friendly service. Good food portion and tasty too. We love the bagnet. Good catering packages available. International food option.
One of the gem that Auckland is lucky to have! After years of opening still successfully able to maintain serving the best filipino/international cuisine in town! If you have not tried dining in their chic place...try their catering services...you will never regret! This place is one of the best! Super thumbs up to the owner/chef!
Tonight was my second time at EnSalada Cafe situated at K-Road and the food was just amazingly delicious. We had the traditional Filipino dish, Bagnet served with bagoong and tomato salsa, Torta eggplant, Pork sisig and Fish Escabeche Macau (Sweet & sour fish Filipino style). Nothing beats having good tasty food with good friends!
Oh! We also tried the green tea shake which tasted really good.
Customer service is definitely a 5 in my book.
Great tasting food at a very good price. Good value for money, and oh top of that amazing service
Fantastic authentic Filipino food in a very well presented cafe. Staff were lovely and service was quick. Easy to get to from CBD.
Many of the dishes are oily but full of flavour. The pork sisig, crispy pata and pork sinigang are very good.
Fantastic food and friendly service.
We’ve been to this restauarant a number of times now and have never been disappointed. The portion sizes are very large and the drinks are very cheap. The food is very authentic, and on the one occasion when they disn’t have the meal I requested, they recommended another dish that was equally good. Best Filipino restauarnt in Auckland!!!
Dining here always feels like home. Delicious food and you can even have karaoke on certain days. Their jolliblair is by far the closest to jollibee’s chicken joy. Love their crispy dinuguan and you can even request it to be a bit spicy. They also have a good backada meal. Reasonable price and staff are welcoming.

Just the Best Filipino restaurant in Auckland! With mouth watering food and a cozy ambiance plus a very friendly staff that you can converse while waiting for the food.
Awesome food. Every dish I try has been my favourite dish ever lol. Good service and friendly staff
