These guys do an amazingly good, flavourful laksa with a very generous portion of tender chicken and two kinds of noodles. Not to mention the bowl is absolutely massive. I've tried laksa at a number of well-rated restaurants in Melbourne and nothing has come close to this one. Absolute fave (and the people are very lovely too!).
Unfortunately only took a pic at the end of the meal but as you can see there was another whole meal leftover to take home.

If you have followed my account long enough, you will realise I’m a maniac of laksa. This store offers laksa with meatballs so I ordered without hesitation. The laksa has some bean curds, meatballs, half an egg and bean sprouts inside. Tbh for a $13.5 laksa in a food court, there are other places that give more toppings (?) in the bowl of noodles with similar price. But I still gave a 4/5 because of the noodles they were using! For all the laksa I’ve tried before, they all had thick noodles but this place put both thick noodles and rice vermicelli inside!! These are the two types of noodles that I love the most and the rice vermicelli absorbed all the soup and provided a different texture compared to thick noodles. But from my point of view, the soup was quite strong flavoured and I ended up drinking so much water when I got home

Always a favourite within the food alley food court. Their pricd is legit reasonable for the amount of food you get. Their food taste better when you eat there than takeaways. Fast cooking! They do pretty good laksa, char kway teow, wan tan hor. Nasi lemak is very generous in size.
The chicken laksa here was amazing! The chicken was cooked perfectly. The curry was thick and flavourful and the portion size is generous :-)
The laksa here is next level! Generous portion, two types of noodles, amazing soup base. This is definitely the best place to eat in food alley.
The last thing I ordered from this eatery was the Hokkien noodle. I ordered the normal one rather than seafood but it still came with 2 decent sized prawns. Even had some pork crackling - I’ve ordered the same type of noodles elsewhere and pork crackling aren’t part of the meats added to the dish. The noodles tastes good overall. Very glad they had an array of chillies for me to add though and their red chillies are decently spicy.
Yum! This will now be my go-to at Food Alley. Got the char kwey teow and hokkien mee - these were tasty, substantial meals. Great taste, great value!
If your looking for a rich delicious Chicken Laksa this place is a must. Never a let down & it’s definitely worth it keeping winter chills away, but if your appreciative of what I’d say hands down is the ‘BEST LASKA out it’s a aLL year round dish lol
I always get the Wat Tan Hor here. Very good value for the price and has a lot of meat/seafood in the dish. Very tasty and easily the best place to get Wat Tan Hor in Auckland personally.
I've only had laksa here.
Always thick creamy and juicy, it's a must order at this food court!

BEST mi goreng noodles ever and I've tried them all! The egg noodles they use isn't that really heavy type of noodles, it's quite light and soft, I'm not sure what type of noodles it is but sri Pinang also use it. The flavour is perfect, with a nice amount of char from the wok, kind of has a rendang base flavour, my favourite mi goreng noodles!
Been frequenting food alley since 7 years ago (unfortunately less often in recent times), and the Malaysian store is where most of my $$ is spent.
Went back again tonight after a while, and I am not disappointed. Got the Char Kway Teow. All you Malaysian food lovers will know what I'm talking about when I say CHAR. It's smokin. We ordered the one with chicken, prawn and squid for $11.50. There were 2 prawns, 3 pieces of squid, and a TON of chicken. If you're the kind to avoid eating out because it's not "worth it", you won't find that here!
If you are in food alley and you are craving for some noodles, this is the place to be.
Apart from value for money, the taste is authentic too..
How do i know? This has been my go to place almost every other day if i go out for lunch.
Ordering tips:
Hokkien Mee
Chicken Curry on noodles

As per usual I am not disappointed. I had the nasi goreng and it was delicious. You don't come for the service or the layout of the dining area, you definitely come for the food and this is something you will not be disappointed with. I forced myself to each as much as possible but I almost popped so had to leave some behind
05-DEC-2015 : Had their Char Kuey Teow with pork, prawns and squid. Huge portion and was tasty. Very good value for $11.50. I'll definitely be back to try the other dishes such as the Wat Tan Hor and Nasi Lemak.
Went to Food Alley yesterday for dinner with my family. I chose 7. Hokkien Mee which had chicken, pork, squid and shrimp for $11.50 which is fairly good considering the amount I was given. The waiting time was not long which was good especially since I was very hungry. I was satisfied with what I was given and it was very delicious ☺️ the only problem with it was that I was hoping that the shrimp had the shell taken off beforehand as the sauce is quite sticky and I didn't want to get my hands dirty since my skills of taking off the shell is quite poor.
I always eat here once a week, and order the same thing all the time. They have a very good wan tan hor!! Their lo mie also not bad. Very recommended!!!
Better value than PappaRich at SkyCity Metro and closer to authentic. Tried their laska - really good and lots of different components in the dish. Can't go wrong with getting something from here. A favourite of ours!
Will be back soon.
I would give it a 10/5!
For me this place brings my Malaysian and Penang memories.
Char Kuey Teow is astounding! The best I have tasted in NZ.
Their laksa, curry noodles and me goreng are very YUMMY too!!!!!
MUST TRY
Fantastic food court Malaysian. One of the best char kway Teow around. It actually beats most restaurants. The food is cheap and the portions are huge. The Laksa is big enough for two people. Would definitely recommend if you feel like something fried.
Quick and tasty. Just exactly what you'd expect from a food hall outlet. Nice and cheap too.
Vege laksa was in a good sized bowl.
Nice authentic food!.….i had mee goreng their today was nice.
I love this food court so much. There is a great selection of different primarily Asian types of food. I have had fantastic India, Thai and Malaysian foods. There is also a drinks area which good value drinks including $4 beers. I always bring friends and everyone of them loved it.
A favourite eating destination of mine. You’ll likely find me eating some delicious dish from Seoul Seoul, but there’s a whole level of different Asian restaurants for people to choose from. The NZ version of the hawkers centres in Asia.
Now this place is super cool!
Food from Seoul Seoul and The Japanese place beside the Malaysian Noodles.
Cheap & portions are massive! Both photos food amounted to roughly 45 NZD which is like £22.50 in the UK. That's cheap!
100% Perfect Authentic International Cuisine. Great styles of menus. I usually go upstairs to Kampung Delight for my Asian style flat rice noodles with Fish cakes and hard boiled egg. Finalises with a Carrot milk juice downstairs. Nothing beats this International Authentic Food Court.
I always get excited when I find a street vendor or food truck I can order off of. It seems food is always a little more authentic. This is such a place. Take the concept of street vendors and put them under a roof. Authentic food made by authentic people. Have eaten there twice since I arrived yesterday morning and was impressed both times.
My all times fav for the past 20yrs! Just dive in, try everything Asian flavours. I yet had another discovery the other day. Thai Pork Nam Tuk with sticky rice.. Yum yum yum.. Of course my usual hainanese chicken rice and korean bbq squid are as good as usually! Very affordable hse wine. Go for medium it sure suits you drinking bud!
I was simply amazed at the variety of Asian food offered. Prices reasonable & quality authentic.
Handy to CBD for quick lunch break. Many choices of food. It will be perfect if they keep their place clean.
Set up in a style familiar to all Malaysians and Singaporeans, this food court buried deep within the bowels of Auckland city will offer you a taste of what it is to have breakfast, lunch or dinner in Malaysia/Singapore.
Had the ubiquitous char kway teow from a Malaysian stall that sounded promising - taste was good but compared to the little Malaysian cafe at Highland Park, this rice noodle dish lacked the "fire" that comes from a very hot wok.
Plenty of different options to try from and would love to drop in again soon!
Went there with friends, we had a great time. The portion sizes are good, everyone felt stuffed. Good prize range as well.
I got vegetarian bi bim bop and fried dumplings from Seoul Seoul, the Korean kitchen there and I paired it with the Korean imported beer Hite.
The meal was delicious, the elderly lady that prepared the food and took our order was so sweet.
Even though people sat around and talked loudly it didn't interfere with my friends and mine conversations.
I felt satisfied after my meal and would definitely come back for more.
Lots of food options from Malaysian food to Japanese. We had Indian food from the 1st shop and loved it! I had the very delicious and creamy butter chicken and my brother had the lamb Rogan Josh... Will be going back more often 😊
Decent food options, cafeteria style. There are probably 20 something Asian food stalls. We ordered char kwe tiau from the Malaysian stall and Hainan chicken with fried egg from the chicken stall. They were pretty good.
Not as busy as it once was! I think the construction around the area has truly affected business here. The food, what ever is left is still great and cheap considering some of these are expensive elsewhere. Gone are the $10 lunch days, a few gems here and there! Will come back, hopefully revamped next time.
This is like travelling to Asia without leaving NZ! Delicious and authentic street food at reasonable prices. Had the Thai Braised beef noodle and Malaysian Char Kway Teow. Yum!
Mee goreng noodles from the thai place is to die for 😍😍🔥 just mildly spicy, but full of flavour, filling and fast service!! I had this dish 4 days in a row it was that good lol. Highly recommend
Fantastic meals for a great price. Something for everyone and such lovely friendly staff. Wish I was local to come back more often!
Interesting authentic Asian food & beers. Good range covering most Asian countries. I recommend the Japanese food.
When visiting the Food Alley in the city you have to go eat at the Umaiya Japanese Restaurant. The food is to die for. The Bento chicken box ($13.50nz) is delicious. Food is made fresh while you wait and the staff is always friendly with a welcoming smile. The prices are great and portion sizes are pretty decent.
