A hidden gem on Great south road. Came nearby for business and occasionally find this nice cafe. The owner is friendly and their pumpkin soup is really creamy and yummy-great in such a cold winter.

I've been coming here for coffee most days for years and really enjoy the friendly team at Rockfield Cafe. It's great to have a local cafe where they remember your name and the coffee is consistently awesome. I do occaisionally pick up something from the cabinets for lunch and everything is fresh and tasty.
I go to rockfield every week for lunch and I always enjoy the time I have. The food never disappoints, great range to choose from and tastes of quality. The staff are always friendly and attentive. The place is clean and affordable with plenty of parking. Did I mention great coffee to go ? :)

It’s hard to get parking in the greenlane penrose area for coffee. This cafe always has parking available.

Quite an ordinary cafe but food is tasty and very affordable, and the menu offers a lot of variety. Staff are very friendly and service is fast. Â Gets very busy in the mornings but staff work hard. Would recommend
Thought we would try this place for lunch and not knowing the area, was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very polite and pleasant. We had the Fish & Chips and French Toast. Both were very generous size plates, the food was great coffee was pretty good and were left very much full afterwards. I would happily pop in again if I were to be in the area again.
Great to have a cafe in this area that is open so early. Often steady with customers from opening at 6am.
Rockfield cafe is a good local spot on busy Great South Rd. Decor is quite old & tired, but the staff are friendly & hardworking so you can see how they get their repeat business.
Have had items from the breakfast menu before - all reasonably priced & cooked well. Also toasted sandwiches & muffins - really is your standard cafe fair.

Overall an okay reliable spot for a breakfast or lunch. Would be nice to see this upgraded, but that's not really important if the food & service is good.
We are lucky to have this cafe so close to home, and have visited it about every two weeks on average for the last 3 years. Â We always go for food ordered from the menu rather than cabinet food as they have a wide variety of delicious & well presented food at a good price. Â I particularly enjoy the corn fritters, fish & chips, french toast, nachos, open sandwiches or honey soy beef salad; my wife enjoys the salads, corn fritters and creamy mushrooms. Â We have never been disappointed with a meal. Â It can be busy during lunchtime on weekdays but quieter on Saturdays. Â The decor/atmosphere isn't anything special but the food certainly makes up for this. Â Very friendly staff.
Popular cafe in Greenlane. Friendly and helpful staff. Service was quick and good even during lunch time. Coffee and pastry were delirious but scramble eggs average plus a weak presentation.
This place is our local, and we have been twice now..have been wanting to go to a traditional cafe, rather than the new fangled cafes you get these days. After a long run this morning, it was time to go for the "Rockfield Breakfast" and it was a stunner!...full english breakfast with all the traditional trimmings, but without the grease...yum! I also really like the local staff, who are friendly, including the chef. If you fancy a real traditional , neighbourhood cafe, with good food...this is the one!
I have been popping in lately as it is handy to work. A really scrummy range. Today I had chicken and brie corn fritter stack and it was delicious!! really enjoyed it. I have had the stuffed potato too and it was good. I met a friend for brunch yesterday and we had the eggs bene and she had the pancakes and was most impressed. Only criticism was my friends latte' which she said was burnt, but my mocha is always delicious. Cheers guys

Jing and his wife are always welcoming and is a hidden gem for catering. We come from the city to pickup food from here as its always soo good. Highly recommended

What a great find this cafe is. Open early from 6am for coffees and quick snacks, more substantial kai from abt 6:30am. Coffee brand is Karajoz, and the long blacks are well made. A peaceful ambience inside contrary to the building hibbub outside.
Such a great place. So accomodating and the staff are willing to go above and beyond to show you that they care. Brilliant food. Will be back.

Such friendly staff and a very welcoming atmosphere. Meals are delicious and lovely presentation. Coffees are hot and fabulous! Seems they have a very regular crowd in each day and everyone is welcomed like family.
My favorite cafe. Absolutely fantastic food. Do fresh and tasty. I especially love their lolly cake & cheesecake. Sausage rolls are the Best I've tried. I definitely recommend this place. They take great pride in their food and it shows. Do well priced too!
This is such a lovely, welcoming cafe. The best coffee! After ONE visit, my first, she remembered how I like my mocha. Visiting only once or twice a week, as I work part time. She always remembers! The minute I'm in the door I"m greeting with "Morning Darling!". Super lovely people with the best sausage rolls and pretty big variety of food. Quite a large cafe with alot of seating great cabinet choices. Definitely worth a visit if you're out Penrose way.

and a ' melting moment' but plenty of choices .. my cookie was excellent. Don't recall price so can't have been formidable.

Fantastic, friendly, welcoming cafe, good coffee, friendly hard working staff and a broad menu along with cabinet food. Really good daily cafe!!!!!!!! Excellent prices too. Has internet and plenty of plugs for computers if you need to park a while.

Wow, what a trreat to find this cafe -- and o.p.e.n at 6am! Comfortable seating, peacefiul ambience, courteous staff, outstanding food (!) I ordered salmon and scrambled eggs on ciabatta - they totally overdelivered, could not finish it all, and it came with avocado and a delicious chutney too. Highly recommend this place. I'll be back! :-)
