Went there last night. Absolutely awesome, authentic Austrian food. One thing I rarely do is have desert but at Carinthia I just couldn't go past the Patisserie display.
We will be back without a doubt. It was worth the drive from Mt Albert in terrible weather on a wet winter's night.
i recently move local to Carinthia. Im a fan. I take the kids for an early dinner, we have good service, the best food and handy to home, what more could you ask for :)
Great service, loved the atmosphere and the pork hock was outstanding
It was an amazing experience. I am German and I can say the food was so good, it reminded me of home. I will definitely come back and have more of the käsespätzle. There were just two minor things. First the homepage said there would be fondue specials, but there was no fondue meals at all and unfortunately they were out of almdudler. But overall I loved it.
Dropped by for coffee and a toasted sandwich at lunch time. Efficient service. Pity the dinner service has gone.
Easy to miss if you're not sure where they are, keep an eye out for the driveway entrance as there is a fair number of parking spots there. Came for lunch and they had quite a selection of food to choose from and I went with the pork schnitzel.
It was a fairly large serving of schnitzel and chips. Both were fried well. The schnitzel was fairly thick.
I also had the hot chocolate and it was ok. They did have other tarts at the front counter but didn't see them until after paying so maybe next time. I didn't like the dining area being composed of large tables but think that might have been due to an event they were having. I thought the service was alright. Friendly but not overbearing.
A basic 'no frills' place with large tables seating 8 to 10 people, plastic table cloths. Decor is a bit dated but looks clean and uncluttered. A cabinet display of sweet items. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the schnitzels are large and well cooked. We used a GrabOne voucher for lunch and felt we got value for money as the portion was generous, but the meal lacked finesse. A little salad, coleslaw or dish of sauce on the side as garnish would have elevated the appearance of basic schnitzel and french fries. It's more a cafe than a restaurant but it may have a different ambience in the evenings ? It's possibly more a place for the locals than for anyone making a trip across town specifically to dine there.
Carinthia is rather out-of-the-way at Glendowie. I was there with friends for a shared dinner - beer, smoked pork sausages with potato salad & bread, pork schnitzel & a pre-ordered pork hock for 2. Sausages were excellent; pork meat was quite dry. Service was efficient - the wait staff was pleasant. (Food - 3/5; Service - 3.5/5; Ambience - 3.5/5)
It's a raining Sunday so of course we need something sweet to deal with the "blue".. this place offers a good selection of cakes and pastries, and I have to say they are delicious. Not too sweet and great layers of different favours.
We just ate breakfast here. The portion sizes were good the food well cooked. It is reasonable value for money and we'll definitely be back.
It was relaxing and easy environment to manage the kids.
We have eaten at Carinthia twice recently and enjoyed both occasions. The service was friendly and the wait staff very helpful in explaining the different ingredients for our chosen dishes. This last time I had steak Carinthia and it was perfectly cooked so we celebrated by also indulging in a dessert from the cabinet. I feel the management are putting in the effort to achieve better ratings and have only rated it down due to one first choice not being available. We will return as I rate it as a favourite for ambience, service, friendly staff, food quality and especially the fries!
Quite casual - almost a pub type feel to it, but pleasant enough. The crumbed Schnitzels are really big sizes and taste great; I haven't tried many of the other dishes as the Schnitzel is too hard to resist. Good selection of German/Austrian Pilsner and wheat beers.
Good beer and nice atmosphere, but I'd prefer other restaurant near by, Der Metz. Snitzel has no sauce, and fries are very dry. Food is very average.
Good choice of food - not just stodgy German fare. Really interesting twists on what I had previously encountered by way of Schnitzel.
Nice selection of beers.
One of our favourites ! Great atmosphere, great food....saurkraut great, desserts are world class, beer is so good, schnitzels are yum, german sausages are so yum and so is the spatzle....
The place was re opened a few months ago and now the atmosphere is more cosy and authentic. Real Austrian food, hand made dessert, and a good choice or German and Austrian beers. Friendly and fast service.
