Seafood soup is really great.. full of flavors best of best!! Must try!!
A little but clean Chinese-Korean restaurant on Dominion Road. I ordered the spicy seafood noodles soup the other day. Portion is very decent - lots of seafood in a bowl. Also, I really love their tea too - very elegant taste, super nice for a cold winter night. Their yellow radish side dish is also lovely. Definitely come back :)
Came with a group of friends specifically for the jajangmyeon, the black Korean noodles. We all ordered a noodle each and shared some of the special dishes. Think that because we were a large group that the special dishes came out first and the noodles came out afterward. Usually, you eat the dishes with the noodles. I wasn't particularly fond of the sweet and sour pork (tangsuyuk), I didn't like the flavour of the sauce. The chicken with vegetables (kkanpunggi) was ok, same with the stir-fried seafood and vegetables (palbochae). I quite liked the yangjangpi, a seafood salad with a mustardy dressing.
I had tried the jajangmyeon before and didn't like it since it tasted too much of black bean but this one was quite nice. A really subtle flavour and nice noodles. A friend had the tray jajang which was nicer since it was a bit drier and had a little heat to it. Quite a good place for Korean noodles.
Original: We had 3 most common dishes. Black bean sauce noodle, seafood spicy soup and fried rice. Spicy noodle soup was quiet nice. But black bean sauce noodle and fried rice was terrible to be frank. Food potion was very small hence two of us ordered 3 dishes. Won’t come back. 2 star because staff service was good. Update: improved. Everything I said above changes. Real tasty and will be my go to place!
Reviews recommended seafood so I ordered the Spicy seafood noodle soup and it was heavenly! So full of flavour and spice was just right! the only fault is that there was barely any seafood. I'm not actually sure if that's just how the dish is supposed to be or that it was just lacking the meat! Also ordered the Ganjajang and I actually had no idea what it was, it's just that we thought we'd try something else with meat in it. I thought they had given me the wrong dish because there was no meat! but on closer inspection, I realised the meat was diced up super tiny I could barely taste it let alone see it. I didn't actually like the second dish because it tasted like msg flavour. Too bad I can't speak Korean so I could communicate with staff. This place deserves a 3.5.
It took a while for waiting but worth. A lot of Korean families went. Our Korean friend said it was so good especially the seafood dishes. Actually it is. The prawn u can tell it is so fresh and saucy, the Udon soup is a little bit spicy but okay.
Great value korean-chinese food - had jjampong and black bean noodles. Texture of noodles were really good. Broth was adequately spicy. Could do with more seafood/meat in the dish though... Restaurant seems rather popular, and had many Koreans in it at dinner time. Do note that they close on Mondays and Tuesdays!
Best Jjamyun and Jjambbong in Auckland. There are so many korean-chinese restaurants in Auckland where most dont even meet average standard where this place is by far the best. As I know, the chef, who is the owner had been in this business for more than 20yrs and he makes authentic korean-chinese. Dont know why there are bad reviews here. If this place gets 2.5, i wouldnt know what other places would be worth! This place is always full of people, waiting outside for tables anyway, so I guess the rating here doesnt mean much.
We had the seafood jia jangmyeon and also the prawn fried rice. The noodles was not bad, but I really like how they cooked the fried rice. Slightly moist but the flavour is good and mixes well with the black bean sauce on the side. The spicy soup that came with the rice is so very good. One thing I think they are lacking at this place is maybe pork cutlet option, or even 2 people combo meal with some korean fried chicken on the side with ordering 2 noodles. Their menu is simple, but the food taste good like home cooking. Overall not bad.

My mother and I are regular customers here and look forward to having a good meal at this restaurant. The food is a nice change from the many restaurants that like to douse their food in way too much flavor, leaving you feeling sickly. The food at this restaurant does the opposite - it is flavorsome in a more delicate kind of way where the sauces are smooth and light. Incorporated with the food are a lot of vegetables and it has a sense of authenticity about it, more than just the cookie cutter restaurant menus that are plentiful in Auckland. The service is wonderful and the people are very lovely and welcoming. Cannot wait to eat here again! Yum!
Clean and nice Korean-Chinese restaurant on Dominion Rd. A bit of a wait for the food even though the place was empty, but the food was worth it. Jajangmyeon (black bean sauce noodles) and sweet and sour pork were both yum and huge portion. The texture of the noodles is to die for!
Pretty good Jajangmyeon and tang su yuk.
Serving time takes a little too long on weekend. Could use some improvement on that.
Reasonably priced.
Delicious Korean Chinese food. Long wait but I understand they were short-staffed. Would recommend
4/5 Korean Chinese food (jjajang myun, basic black bean paste noodles hits the spot)
3/5 staff/service (short staffed, hence many options are self services, with orders taking extra time)
Overall yum spot, but wouldn't recommend if your in a rush.
🤌
Thank you team despite being short staffed.
In my personal opinion, this restaurant serves the best jjampong soup noodle. The broth is so rich w seafoood flavour which is dominated by prawn flavour , and the noodle is al dente with generous of squid and pork meat. Will come back for more. The gajangmen is also great with al dente noodle and generous of sauce. The highlight for me however is the jjampong which is suitable for cold weather
It's a really nice place. Delicious Jajangmyeon and Jjamppong. I ate it with the gulbaegi(double bowl size).^^ It is really the best korean and chinese restaurant.
Delicious and reasonably priced. Go for the 간짜장 (stir fried black bean noodles) over the 짜장면 (regular black bean noodles). Worth the extra 3 dollars 👌
Kangchon is indeed a gem of a find in a thriving food haven that is Dominion road. Service was very personal and homey which I assumes stems from being a family owned/run restaurant. We ordered Jjampong and Samseon Jjampong on a rainy afternoon and what a delectable delight it was. The broth was rich and spicy with the latter served with a good helping of seafood. We will definitely come back and try their other specialty mainly jajangmyeon and Tangsuyuk. Thanks Kangchon!
The food seem to be very authentic. Ordered black bean noodle, deep fried Chicken with sweet and sour sauce, hot sedfood noodle. Very satisfied with what I got and love the spicy noodle soup!
Especially delicious and authentic, the restaurant will not lose the quality of the food in order to serve quickly, especially like
Definitely the best Korean noodles in the entire Auckland
Super delicious
Authentic
Customers are mostly Korean
Love the Jajangmyeon and the chicken was delicious just a bit pricey. But overall very good!
Most famous restaurant. Was at Queen St but moved to Dominion Rd. The most delicious dishes are same as before. Really enjoyed it. Thanks so much.
Chinese style Korean food. Very tasty but a little expensive.
