Brought a voucher for this place. So amazing. Great service and the most amazing pork belly I have ever had.
Nice open setting, but venue is nothing special.
Staff are friendly and efficient, we had the crumbed camembert and the squid for entree, both amazing.
For mains we both had pasta dishes, the portions weren't overly generous but the carbonara was nice, while the seafood pasta lacked in flavour.

got a voucher on treatme for entrée and main or main and dessert. have seen a few bad reviews but decided to give it a try anyway. the first impression wasn't so good as the place looked like a cafe nowhere near to restaurant but we came here for food so didn't mind where to sit. when a guy gave us menus he didn't ask whether we want entries or desserts he gave us entrée and mains menu but we didn't mind. my partner and i both had calamari and salad, it tasted nice but 3 pieces of calamari definitely didn't seem like enough, on the menu it says $13 and if i was paying full price i would of definitely complain. for my main i had tender steak and potato pava which was yummy,a bit chewy but it wasn't the best cut of steak i was pretty satisfied for the price i paid. and my partner had pork belly which was also nice not the best but better than we have tried at couple of other places. i also ordered a mocca which was nice and tasty and my partner had lemon lime bitters which seemed to be from a bottle so cant comment on that. the staff was friendly a girl was nice and asked how our food was so was the Indian guy who served us. will only go back with a voucher and if imnearby as its a long drive from home
Hand down one of the best meals I've had out in a long time, we got a grabone deal for the 2 course meal and went out with my in laws for a meal. We got the calamari and garlic bread to start with then for mains we had the pork belly and chicken roll up and both were divine a sorely outstanding meal! Took a little while to come out but it was well worth the wait very impressed then we all got desert and that was delicious also. Will definitely be coming back!! Thank you for a great evening attached is a photo of my chicken roll up that had spinach and cheese inside wrapped in bacon with potatoes and veges and the best mushroom sauce drizzled all over it yum!!!

It's a cafe and restaurant so the vibe is casual and relaxed. The menu has just enough items on it so that your not limited nor too overwhelmed.
We had a pork belly and fish of the day. The service was good despite of the delay sometimes and food was delicious. I will definitely get back again.

Fabulous!! Amazing value for such wonderful meals. We ate like kings here and enjoyed our meals thoroughly! We had the eye fillet with potato gratin, wilted spinach and red wine jus - to die for! I also got to try the pork belly and wow it was delicious I wish I could have had both. We will be back for sure! We also had the scallops and bacon for entree and the deep fried camembert. Came here on a grab one and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The food was full of flavour and the service was prompt and polite. However the atmosphere left a bit to be desired. I would still recommend coming in for lunch or breakfast if the menu appeals to you.
Been here 3 times before and time to put review ..it is nice to see restaurant like this in browns bay.The service was great and the staff was really friendly. The quality of food was as expected and presentation was on point.The portion sizes were just right to satisfy without making you feel over full, and the value was really good. Tasty food, good service. Nothing "wow, wow" in particular but a good meal overall and nothing to complain about. Venue could benefit from some work to create a better ambiance. Most noticeably the ceiling; if a false ceiling were installed it would make a significant difference to the atmosphere instantly. Would love to see this place get that "must come back" feel and it is not the food or service that will achieve that as they are already great for a mid range dining restaurant.

Service was I little slow because almost full restaurant and only one staff was there. but we were talking so much that it wasn't really noticeable. More than made up for with the excellent food. it's great to finally see a good restaurant in this part of town. It's such a relaxing place to come and have a meal. we will definitely be coming here again

We used our grabone voucher for dinner tonight. When we arrived we were greeted with a smile. For entrees, I ordered lemon pepper calamari, hubby ordered crumbed camembert. For main, we both have fish of the day, which was snapper. It was cooked to perfection. For dessert, creme brulee with biscotti which was exquisite. I highly recommend this restaurant. Our family and friends had our Xmas dinner at freyberg on monday night. we really enjoyed our delicious and great value for money meals. my partner and i both ordered eye fillet steak with tasty mushroom and potato gratin and the steak was cooked to perfection. every body was enjoyed there meals and thank you very much for the wonderful dinner and we wishing your prosperous new year..
We had dinner at Freyberg to see if we would like to book the venue for our wedding and it hit all the high notes for us. The food is superb, we ordered the venison, the sirloin and the fettuccine carbonara and could find no fault with any of the dishes, not only did they taste fantastic but the presentation was stunning.
The decor for an evening setting is warm and inviting and there is music playing which completes a romantic atmosphere.
The owner Fernando spent quite some time discussing what we would like for our wedding and I feel confident that Freyberg will be the perfect venue for us.
We will definately be back to Freyberg for dinner or lunch regularly.

My wife and I have eaten there twice and on both occasions the food has been to very high standard. We went there last week I had the best steak that I can remember. It was the rib eye with a delicious sauce my steak definitely gets 10/10. My wife had the snapper which she really enjoyed. Service was pleasant the three courses were all very good. We will be returning in the very near future. The prices were very reasonable.
Came here Thursday night. Had their snapper. It was SO good. Very generous serve and price. Well worth the money. My friend's meal was also excellent. Nearly all mains are under $30. Great value! Must try.

I thoroughly enjoyed the food here and the friendly environment. I came here with my friend last week and ordered an entre, main and desert. The scallops and bacon entre was flavourful. Our mains were also a great portion for the both of us. I ordered the chicken special, and my friend ordered the eye fillet cooked medium. She claims it was well cooked and very tasty, as was my chicken also. Having a great balance of the mushroom sauce to give extra flavour. The deserts too were lovely, we shared the brûlée because dinner was so filling. Though, we definitely will be back with our other friends.

Like many others, I had a GrabOne voucher. I finally had lunch here with two of my girlfriends today. The waiter greeted us with a smile and let us choose our table. It was a beautiful day so we sat outdoors. I ordered the mini eye fillet dish medium rare. Our food arrived promptly. My friends ordered chicken fettuccine and the chicken melon salad. They were both happy with their dishes and so was I!
My mini eye fillet was actually really good. Slightly burnt on the outside, but it didn't take away from the awesome flavours. A little oily for my liking (only because I prefer really fresh, clean tastes and I don't cook with much oil except extra virgin). The food is great value for your money. I tasted both the chicken fettuccine and salad; I enjoyed them as well.
The only downside is how Freyberg isn't the most attractive place to dine. In fact, the exterior and interior are slightly dark making it look more like a dinner venue than a cafe. The owner Fernando took the time to ask us how our meals were and was super friendly. I would definitely come back here to try the mains as well as recommend this cafe to my friends asking for a brunch/lunch spot because the prices are so reasonable and everything was simply delicious!
The Freyberg has become our favourite restaurant for special occasions. The food is superb, the service really good, the chef and staff are friendly and the ambience quiet and pleasant. The portion sizes are good and the prices very reasonable. The creme brulee is to die for! We ordered 7 for our group as soon as we arrived to ensure none of us missed out! Altogether a fine evening out. Have been four times already and look forward to more. Our only suggestion is to have more vegetarian options. It’s a great restaurant to have close to home.

My Husband and I have eaten at Freybergs three times now - each time it has surpassed my expectations.
The staff are attentive and friendly, and the food is seriously amazing.
I am a regular visitor to the Freyberg Licensed Restaurant in Inverness Road, Browns Bay, North Shore City. I personally think it is one of the best kept secrets in the East Coast Bays. I usually visit on a weekday lunchtime for either soup or chowder, both of which are always on the menu. I occasionally lunch with my family and have ordered dinner servings of fillet eye steak, and, or a fish dish. My family choose to eat at Freyberg in preference to any one of the many other eateries, be they cafes, hotels or restaurants.
Chef Fernando is a most considerate host and usually ensures we receive his personal attention.
I am happy to endorse the hospitality at Freyberg, without reservation.

Impressed with the quality of the food in Freyberg's. Only expected cafe standard fare but our family was very pleased with the quality and preparation of our meals - would definitely recommend this venue!
We had a bit of a different experience service wise to the previous reviews. The chef (owner?) came out in the end and said the waitresses were in training, and he took our order. The food was excellent. I had the chicken salad and my husband the lamb loin. We also had the delicious rich chocolate brownie with ice cream. The service did improve once the meals came out and the girls were very friendly.
The steak was amazing. The food is well presented and the biscotti is marvelous. The chef is present and approachable, and shows a lot of compassion into the restaurant
I am not a meat person and am overly sensitive with smells and taste especially when it comes to meat but when I tried sirloin steak here, I couldn't really find faults to pick out. The mushroom sauce was also delicious I ended up leaving the aioli sauce on the side I asked for my fries, and scraped off the remaining sauce on the plate instead. I also liked how the fries weren't like any other restaurants that had brown coated grease. The food we ordered were Steak and Egg, and a lunch special(fish, which was undoubtedly amazing) and they both came out in less than a quarter of an hour. This restaurant is just like what the slogan says, it is "an affordable fine dining," with really good hearty meals.
Used a grab one dinner voucher the lovely host allowed us to use it for lunch. I really enjoy my experience here and the service was good.
We thought the mains were quite good but was really lacking in rich flavour. We really enjoyed the desserts, I've never tried a Brûlée so I have nothing to compare to but this one has inspired me to order it more often.

-Cooked: 10/10 (tender perfectly cooked meat)
- Presentation 10/10 (looked amazing)
- Flavour 5/10 (was lacking, I wanted a punch in the face of flavour, but I could almost call it bland. Just need to work on seasoning and packing in flavour to make them perfect dishes)
Brûlée and tiramisu: really happy about the prices.
Portion: 10/10 (perfect after large mains)
Cooked: 8/10 (biscotti was rock hard but everything else was amazing)

Great meal and service. The Sri Lankan staff are extremely friendly and service attentive. We had the venison which was delicious and cooked to our liking. The Creme Brulee was superb...we'll be back as soon as we can!

My husband and I have been there with friends and by ourselves and think the consistent high level of performance by the kitchen and waiting staff should be rewarded with the restaurant becoming a very popular to eat.

We've dined at Freyberg a number of times this past month or so, both lunch and dinner, and we go back because the food is outstanding. Combined with great service it's very hard to beat, certainly in Browns Bay but also on the greater North Shore. Highly recommended.
This cafe is a perfect example of why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. While the sign outside may be old and faded from years of neglect, the service inside has always been spot on. I've been here now for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; never have I had a bad experience. The chef is clearly passionate about what he serves as all the meals I've had were well presented and quite tasty. These guys are onto something here and I wish them all the best!

Went to Freyburg and had the best lamb shank. The size, taste, presentation was perfect along with friendly staff! The menu had a great range of meals, entrees, and desserts it was hard to decide! I'm definitely going again soon!
Freyberg is popular and was packed when we visited was yesterday for lunch. this guys doing affordable up market food's..it's very nice to see this kind of restaurant in browns bay.. i had fish of the day ($21) and my husband had the venison loin ($22) both was amazing n very well presented ... highly recommended... thanks and looking forward for your dinner.
I have eaten here few time for dinner with my husband and twice for lunch with a friend. The meals have all been SUPERB, Still not many people know about this restaurant, but I think once word gets out, it will get a lot lot busier. if you looking upmarket on the shore then this is one of the best. The food is amazing . i think you cant find any where in north shore that kind of quality food's for that price...great work guy's keep it up

The food are AMAZING in this place. The place it's quiet a bit hiding from the main road, but definitely worth to look for it.Have had the joy of dining here a few times now, was last night Had the tastiest fish ever. snapper with crumb vegetable smoked salmon and fish cake..... Don't feel confident that I'll be able to replicate it at home.

one of Best restaurant in north shore. My family and I come here a lot and the food and service has always been so consistent. The calamari is to die for!! lamb shanks is always our first choice to bring any of our friends that are staying with us from overseas. you cant beat this price any where...Never let down! I couldn't recommend enough.

A friend recommended Freyburgs and we were delighted. I had a superb, beautifully presented Lamb Shank meal with tender steamed vegetables. My friend had very tender, melt in the mouth Fillet steak cooked to order, again beautifully presented. with vegetables lightly steamed to perfection. For dessert we both opted for Caramel Brulee which was light and delicious. The service was warm, friendly and very welcoming. We will definately be frequenting them as often as possible. Highly recommended.

The meals were of a very high standard, nicely presented and well proportioned (the Creme Caramel was the best ever!!) My wife and I went here for dinner one evening. The food was delicious and the prices are really reasonable. My wife had the ribs which were very tasty and I had the steak with prawns. Steak was cooked to my preference and I followed that up with a passionfruit cheesecake which melted in my mouth. Will most definitely returning.
I have been here several times now and the food is always really nice and such a good price. I highly recommend the lamb shanks and creme caramel. It's nice and quiet with a relaxed atmosphere and there's plenty of parking. The staff are lovely and friendly and I have had excellent service every time I've been. We had an awesome dinner. 3 of us had ribs, I am quite fussy about ribs and these were cooked to perfection. The meat just came away from the bone. One had calamari, which tasted great and one had pizza which was full of the ingredients, very tasty . We has a lovely dinner.

Dropped here today, although we've got Grabone vouchers to use, Staffs were great and polite. we had a little bit of waiting for our orders to arrive and their gourmet burger for me is not worth the price, other than that everything is great.
