Had Chicken dumplings takeaway from this place on Sunday night. I wasn’t expecting much from this place but to my surprise the dumplings were really “yummy”. No wonder they named themselves “Yummy dumpling house”😄.
Been here twice, tried about 8~9dishes in total
foods were great and flawless at both times, plus theres a flexible of food choices for every budget or taste
Nothing to pick on about their services nor anythinh special
Decent shop decor
If you are into spicy this is certainly the place to come in the city. The service is friendly and laid back. we got "mao cai"/spicy soup with self-picked ingredients which is very flavourful and spicy even as mild.overall very good will be returning.
Visited last Saturday for dinner@YDH. First impression, place was packed so that's a good sign. Table was cleaned quickly and we were given the menu riteaway so happy with service. We asked for their recommendation in spicy chicken; pat came the reply as chicken with chillies. Mind you, this is an appetizer and comes with no sides of rice or noodles. So we asked for a small portion of steamed rice. Additionally, we ordered for steamed dumplings (pork+prawns), and noodles in spicy sauce (Dan Dan noodles). Chicken was superb by itself, a must have with beer. The huge helping of fried red chillies was amazing and yet not overpowering. The numbing Sichuan pepper corns were just right in terms of quantity. The dumplings were alright (weird coz they've got it in their name), my fav still being at Eden noodles. Dan Dan noodles was much different from what I had@Eden; this one was loaded with the fresh numbing after taste thanks to the Sichuan pepper. Eden has chili oil flavor; loved both. Steamed rice was not a idea coz it was dry with dry everything (we should've taken the hint when our server sounded surprised when we ordered for it 😂). Overall, go for chicken and Dan Dan; maybe next time I'd try their hot pot. For dumplings, I'd still head to Eden Noodles. This was my first experience with Sichuan pepper and I must say YDH did do justice to whatever I'd heard about them. Total $$ was 36.50 for two; other than their signature preparations (chilli chicken and the likes in big photos on the menu), most dishes are priced well under $12. Interesting decor with references to Chengdu/Sichuan region of China. Worth a visit, we are coming back again for sure.
As a Chinese person from Sichun, I I highly recommend this restaurant to you if you like yummy spicy food. I ordered Ma Po Tofu, spicy chicken(cold dish), dumplings, were all very authentic and tasty! I will be back and hungry for more!!!
I suspect this place is great. However, we ordered vegetarian stuff, which (mostly - see below) was fine, but a bit dull. Other stuff (that others were having) looked great, but the reason I'd try again (with not vegetarian) is the black mushroom dish. This was spectacular! Unlike the other stuff we ordered, which was contrived vegetarian (they substituted vegetarian options for what would normally be meat), the mushrooms are meant to be like that. And they were good, and a generous size. Worth a try, unless you're vegetarian
BEST Spicy Chinese Food we've ever had in Auckland!!!! The food is absolutely high quality, a very talented chef and the food was presented beautifully! I'm so glad I found this Chinese Restaurant while walking up Upper Queen St. Definitely worth the drive and money. Have been there numerous times with family and hubby. Great job! A+
I loved the pork and prawn dumplings. Best I've had in Auckland so far. The spicy pork slices on rice were yummy but I would ask for more spice next time. I definitely want to try more of their dishes.
Oh my, I really loved the food, especially the lunch combo meal that lady works there recommended me. She was so kind and dumpling that my mate bought it. It was also delicious.
Service was quick and friendly. I was amazed at the portion size. $14 for a big plate of dumplings and it tasted great.
You know it's authentic when a white guy like me needs to get his Chinese friend to order for him. 10/10
Great option before heading to a show, food is so tasty and you can have a good meal and a beer for 40 dollars and no issues with getting a table most of the time. Relaxed and can actually talk as its not ridiculously noisy. Been a few times now and yet to be disappointed.
Hearty portions of yummy food!
We had deep fried chilli chicken, beef in pepper sauce, prawn special fried rice and mixed veg in garlic sauce. Seriously good food.
Happy to recommend.
Food is delicious, the workers are kind and greeted us as soon as we entered. We saw the tables be cleaned often during our hour or so of dining. Very lovely atmosphere. Will be back soon!
Great portion, good customer service, but if you are watching your salt intake, make sure you let the waiter know.
Atmosphere was absolutely peaceful & hygienic! Food was DEVINE, I would recommend this place again!. Try their egg fried rice, AMAZING
Decent portion of delicious mapo tofu with rice is $13-14 only.
Had a delicious meal here. Prawn & cashew nuts, chicken & cashew nuts and dumplings. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Definitely the best Chinese meal we’ve had in a very long time.
Love the food. Great price 👍
Yummy dumpling house is an absolute gem of Auckland. The food never disappoints. Strongly recommend the tomato egg, braised eggplant, cucumber salad, shallot pancake, needle mushroom, mapo tofu and I'm sure all the meat options are good too. Great portion sizes and a good price
Deliciously excellent, Authentic Chinese food! 5 stars it's a must eat place. Rich and flavorful. Menu is in English and has photos to help you decide on your yummy meal
