Tasty food with reasonable portion.
I love their chicken teriyaki donburi! It is delish! I usually order this and chicken karaage to share and yuuuuum yum! Super cute place too
We ordered in via Uber Eats & the food was presented really well. The Donburi was pretty saucy but enjoyable. The Bento Box was pretty filling but again, yummy! I would say though that the chicken was slightly oily.
We went to this place for a dinner and we had bento box, okonomyaki and a sizzling plate with chicken. Timing and service were good and meals were well presented and tasteful. We liked the experience and we are getting back on another opportunity. We recommend this place if you are around Eden Terrace looking for a japanese restaurant.
Best place for sushi and donburi on symonds street, get the teriyaki chicken donburi almost everyday and its always a great size and taste! Staff is always really nice and really quick, Dining area out back is also very nice! Would recommend dining here!
Great sushi outlet. Everything from the food, service, prices and dining area is on point.
All sushi here is delicious depending on what you like its hard to fault.
Cool lil dining area out the back and the staff are so nice and friendly.
We dined here last night and are delighted to have found a great authentic Japanese restaurant in our neighbourhood. The waitress warned us the Bento boxes were large. She was not joking, they were huge and had a great array of fresh options, we had the sashimi bento and the teriyaki bento. Yum, so full after. The service was attentive and friendly. The final cool aspect of this place was the ambience and decor. We definitely will be back.
Not sure about the other negative reviews - this is my favourite place for lunch & is often really busy weekdays. Sushi is excellent, fresh with good selection and the rice isn't overly sweetened like some places. The chicken & beef donburi & bentos are all excellent, good size with veges stir fried in. Customer service i have found to be great, they have even made sushi for me on the spot a few times when they had run out of a particular one. Might be slightly higher priced than others but the quality is better - no nasty gluggy sweet sauces here.
Such an appetising array of sushi as we walked in that we had choose a selection. You just can’t go wrong here. We also ordered 4 bento boxes which had my favourite seaweed salad. We all loved it. The restaurant is quite narrow but they make use of single seating along a dimly lit corridor that opens out to a naturally lit conservatory seating area. Cosy. Waitress is nice and will come back.
Small place but it doesn´t feel packed.
Not many items on the menu but you can combine which builds up your options.
Everything we ordered was good, kitchen responded quickly, service was good, and prices are not high nor cheap.
All in all, there's nothing I'd say it´s wrong with this place, but I wouldn't say it's particularly memorable; A basic quiet Japanese restaurant.
Not my first option to be honest, but would definitely pay it another visit if I want some Japanese food while I'm around.
Stopped by for a fairly late night dinner (around 8pm). The front wasn't full but the back area was. The back area is a nice seating area with big windows that look out into Auckland. The front area felt a bit tight but wasn't squashed, although it might be different when it's full.
Once seated we were given water and menus. The menu had a fair selection of food and wasn't overwhelmingly large which was good. Service was quite good, they had good timings when taking the orders. The food was nice. Went with prawn katsu curry on rice and the curry sauce was quite nice although lacking a bit in spice. Thought it was a nice touch to have pickles on the side. Quite a nice meal and nice service.
Came for dinner on a Monday night. Cozy restaurant with a lovely seating area out back for watching the sunset. Service was quick and polite. Food came out quickly and was tasty and affordable for a local Japanese restaurant. The Karaage Chicken was super crispy and delicious. The Bento Meal had a generous amount of food. Would come again for dinner on a weeknight.
Tidy sushi self serve/dine in restaurant with plenty of variety especially for those on a vegan diet. The indoor and outdoor dining is spectacular and new. The staff are very friendly and told me all the options that I was able to eat. Their vegetable tempura are very generous in size and the fillings are plentiful. My non-vegan friend tried the takoyaki and told me that it was one of the best ones she has had in her life. They use the proper quality ginger as well which is a good sign. Really worth visiting for a lunchbreak or a relaxing dine in dinner with some sake.
Better than average sushi. My 6 pieces (4 regular, 2 fancy) came to $10 which is pretty standard. Nice and fresh, tasty chicken.
Nice vibe and friendly staff. Delicious Donburi. Good for dine in and take out on busy street.
Ordered delivery 🚚 for lunch today.
Taste good and reasonable portion.

So fresh, yum...... amazing staff! Awesome!!!
Lovely place with great service! My son and I ordered the okonomiyaki and karage chicken as our entrées, followed by a sashimi bento and a teriyaki chicken bento. It was fresh and tasty, and the staff were very hospitable.
Thank you very much for my son's miso soup! :-)
Got Kokoro on Uber Eats and had to come here to review. So good! Their Karrage chicken is the only chicken I ever want to eat in Auckland again, and the family deals (and extras) are insane value! Thanks so much! Excited to have again!
I get Kokoro on uber eats often and in store. Every time it’s awesome and the serving sizes are good for the price. Love it.
These guys are amazing. They are my go-to via Uber eats. Snack wise my picks are edamame and vege spring roles. Meal wise if your after a protein hit the Chicken Karrage is amazing while most donburi hit the spot.
