Dined here again after loving it the first time but didn’t take any photos.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere here, fun banter and attentive staff. The decor inside is modern is like a hidden gem in Auckland, tucked away upstairs.
The highlights for us was the chicken and prawn siu mai and the prawn with spinach crystal dumplings. I appreciate the wholesome flavours that are just like the dim sim you’d expect to find in Hong Kong/ China.
The other dumplings were just as good but the two above where my absolute favourite ☺️
Definitely be back for more! Bar manager is hilarious and staff overall are attentive. Great vibes!
Returning from a trip to China where I came back 5kg’s heavier, I wasn’t too interested in trying this place but after much persuasion from my work colleagues I decided to indulge in their wishes and try out some Chiwi cuisine.
Finding Bang Bang was honestly quite annoying, its located within Saint Alice and need to have separate orders. Not too bad for us, we had a few drinks before heading in for dinner.
We ordered pretty much everything off the menu, Char Siu pork, Sweet & Sour Pork, Siao Mai, Pork Buns, Chicken Salted Fried Rice, Deep Fried BBQ Wontons, Prawn dumplings and Pork Dumplings.
To my surprise the food tasted good. Like I probably wouldn’t call this place authentically great but its got its own unique Chiwi flavor.
If you look past the poor attempt at Cultural Appropriation, I like how they tried to make it casual and branch out to a wider audience. Having it in such a hot spot especially during the weekend evenings, it is an excellent way to promote Chinese food so from that aspect, that’s awesome.
Service was fun, I really liked how casual our waitress was and she wasn’t afraid to tell us what she liked and didn’t like.
Understanding that this is to appeal to a specific customer segment I’ll be comfortable to give this place a solid
Overall Grade: B+
Showstoppers: Get the Char Siu Pork, Fried Rice and Wontons. The dumplings and siao mai were quite average.
the restaurant is hiding inside Saint Alice restaurant. Dim sum taste a bit below ordinary, however the potstick fried dumplings are quite good. My BF really loves their dandan noodle, he literary eat it all , even the spicy soup. Then is the hainanese steamed chicken, fresh and tender, might just need more soy sauce.
The price is actually below average at queens wharf.
This is a hidden gem. Tasty food and friendly service. My favourite dishes were the BBQ pork Char-siu and Dan Dan noodles.
Lovely food, reasonable pricing. $1 dumplings! Nice drinks, try the Purple Goanna and the Zen Blossom!
Love the concept- almost like a mahjong parlour hidden in St Alice's, good for snacks and drinks in a quieter environment. Slightly overpriced, but what do you expect in this part of town
This is an authentic, welcoming and tasteful restaurant which hit all the right notes for me. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced (would recommend the pork dumplings), the staff were friendly and generous and the atmosphere was festive. We even got to karaoke a happy birthday for the occasion. Loved every minute there and would highly recommend it!
Went here with a large group. Super delicious food and drinks, and staff were accommodating and lovely. Karaoke machine was also a nice surprise ^_^ Thanks for having us!
Had my birthday dinner and drinks there. What a great vibe. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was awesome.
