Been back twice to this place in the last month.
What I liked:
1. Good location along the exit to the Victoria street car park which has affordable weekend parking rates
2. Good variety in their menu.
3. Prices are reasonable when you look at the portion sizes which are generous and great for sharing. Some of the dishes like the popcorn chicken also offer an add on beer option.
Must tries:
Dumbu tofu which is slices of firm tofu served with pork stir fried with kimchi in the traditional semi spicy red sauce. Very yummy . Also their corn and cheese hot plate which makes a good starter and their popcorn chicken which was crispy and just the right bite size. Woulld love to try the army stew on my next visit!
Will definitely be back!
Out of the many Korean restaurants in the cbd, this might be my favourite. My favourite dishes here are the spicy beef soup (lunch only) and the spicy chicken wing. Also order their seaweed rice thing to have some fun making rice balls with your friends. Spice levels are adjustable so don't be afraid. Service is also great, you won't be disappointed.
Got the o dol ppeo 오돌뼈, which is spicy chicken cartilage. Highly recommend to anyone that hasn’t tried! It is quite spicy even on the least spicy option so if you enjoy spicy things this is the menu for u!
They have some really nice Tteokbokki - a popular Korean spicy streetfood with rice cake, fish cake, a variety of seafood and heaps of melted cheese on top. Many Korean restaurants in Auckland have have this in their menu and I think this place makes the best one! I also really like the OddolBbyeo - spicy stir-fried chicken cartilage with vegetables. All these spicy dishes can be a lot more enjoyable if you add seaweed rice balls, as it will neutralise the spiciness and make it extra filling.
Came in yesterday night with friends after design hand in. Tried the budae-jjigae ($40) with the extra glass noodles. Glass noodles were only $3 but they gave an extra large portion inside the pot. Tasted extra good when it was cooked with the spicy soup, sausages and luncheon meat. Loved the whole feeling of sharing a large korean hot pot with friends after an exhausting day of design. They also had free maxim coffee and tea packets by the water, which was a bonus :))))
Korean restaurants most of the times is synonymous to table top indoor barbecue where you will be offered with all sorts of raw meats and it’s all up to you to cook your own meals by grilling them in front of your dining table. It is very seldom to see Korean restaurants that offer a different kind of dish like this restaurant that we recently tried in Auckland CBD’s High Street.
Best rice cake I’ve ever eaten. We got medium spicy but even that was a bit much for us but still nice. They give lots of seafood and other toppings :) we also brought the jumukbap that too is cheap and we made about 10 medium sized rice balls. The cold noodle was also the best I’ve tasted the broth was nice and refreshing.
Always go for their boneless chicken feet and hot pot but this time we decided to try something else. Had chicken curry katsu, chicken deopbap and steak egg. All of them were nice especially the chicken deopbap and the female staff there was really lovely, friendly and welcoming. Good spot for both lunch and dinner.
Had the Budae jjigae pot, ordered mild which wasn’t spicy at all. Very flavoursome soup base. However there were only a few rice cakes. Portion is a little small, suitable for up to 2 people.
Tried the sashimi don and the pan fried noodles with rice. Both were delicious and the portions were generous. We later tried the steamed egg - a must try!!
Great place to enjoy Korean spicy food. Loved it. Atmosphere is like a real Asian restaurant. Just have fun, ejoy your food and drink with the way you like it.
The quality is great, quantity is also great but the service is alright. It can get very busy at night but a great place to eat with friends and bond.
Everything on their menu is spicy. The portions are quite big but there is no special over lunch times. I had their chicken katsu curry and it's quite similar to Japanese curries.
The perfect restaurant for a late night feast with your friends.
Service: 6/10
It was quite awkward just standing at the door for someone to seat us while the workers were chatting.
The food is served quickly so we didn’t have to wait a long time.
The workers are nice and didn’t mind us splitting the bill.
Food: 9/10
We ordered the bulgogi hotpot and grilled eel.
The portion of the hotpot was big enough to feed 3 of us. The soup was very tasty and had a great meaty base. It’s filled with beef, vegetables and rice cakes for a nutritious yet delicious meal. It also comes with light salad on the side.
The grill eel was very tender and cooked to perfection. The teriyaki sauce was marinated nicely into the meat so it was very flavourful.
Ambiance: 7/10
The whole place has a very cosy warm feeling which is great for friend gatherings.
The brown furniture absorbs a lot of light so it feels quite dark and relaxing.
The menu items written on wooden boards on the side of the restaurant make the restaurant have a traditional theme.
The chairs are old and some of them are slightly broken and uncomfortable.
This has become one of my favourite places to eat with friends on a late night.
Pretty good place to chill out with friends at night. And also a good place to go while you starving for korean cuisine.food quality 5/5 Quantity 4/5 Service 4/5 Environment 4/5 Price 4/5
Usually when I come here I end up getting the large dishes that are shared between a few people, I haven’t tried their single person dishes before. This time I got something from their new menu called Soonsal Cheese Buldak which is spicy boneless chicken. Everything was covered in cheese, there was also some bell peppers, pineapple and a ton of green onion. They also gave us some soup, and a bowl of rice with seaweed that you can mix by yourself and form rice balls - don’t worry they give you gloves.
The staff were really nice and friendly. Water is self service but you can also choose tea if you want.
Total was $40 which I think is pretty worth it for this kind of meal, split between us it was only about $13/14 each.
We ordered the seafood stuffed tofu hot pot with extra ramen. It was more than enough for 2 people to share. If you're not into spicy food make sure you double check with them to see if the dish is spicy. The hotpot was spicier than we expected🌶️🌶️
The place gets pretty busy especially during the weekends. But would definitely be back for more😊
My favourite korean place in Auckland hands down!
I come here once a week and get their chicken on rice takeaway or I eat in sometimes.
Their portion sizes are so big and there’s something about the sauce that makes me keep on going back!
I don’t know why Bangsan is known more than this place. Honestly it’s sooooo much better.
If you ever want a good stir fry get it from here! Also not to mention it’s super quick too!
Absolutely love this place ❤️❤️❤️
Been here twice. The first time, I got a very simple dish. Beef bibimbap. It was HUGE!! I mean HUGE! At least the bowl was. I really liked it because it came with a lot of vegetables too. Just a perfect proportion to rice. i am all about rice/carb to veggie/meat/topping ratio and this was perfect. The taste was simple but with their chilli sauce, I enjoyed it. I don't have anything to complain about. It is slightly pricier than other korean restaurants but as the bowl was big, it comes down to about the same.
The second time, I came with friends. The soup was really nice and so was the meat dish with perfect stretchy cheese.
You are able to eat inside or outside which I like.
My favorite place for Bulgogi and Bibimbap. All the dishes are decently priced and are really delicious. Ambience is all peace and clean. Perfect place for individual or small group eatouts.
I love to come here for Korean food. Portion was quite big. And the coffee and tea were there for free. nice and kind staff. Love to come here for other dishes
We chose to eat here Friday for a late brunch which was around about 1ish. It was quite busy, but they manage to seat myself and partner.
We didn't have to wait long for our food to come, and when it did come we both were surprised with the sizes. They were very big, we couldn't manage to finish it all due to the fact it was our first meal of the day. Would come back and eat here again definitely 👌🏾
Three of us went in for dinner, this place gets pretty busy even on a weeknight.
We ordered and shared the following dishes,:
Mul naengmyeon – cold buckwheat noodles
Bibim Naengmyeon – Spicy buckwheat noodles
Tteokbokki - Rice cakes and seafood
The noodles are on the average side, but still tasty. The tteokbokki is a great dish to be shared, I like how they use giant rice cakes and add cheese to the dish. We got mild flavour and it was the right level of spiciness for me, but if your tolerance to spicy food is up there I recommend you go for the higher levels.
This place also has great Odolppyeo (chicken cartilage) which is another spicy dish that goes well with soju.
Great place if you’re craving for spicy Korean food, service is great 😊
We always here for their Bul Dak, I reckon they make the best one so far. Staffs here are friendly and it's a good place to catch up with friends.
I came here out of indecision, with my boyfriend and sister. DDM's environment aroma is strong, laced with sauces and steam. It was fairly busy when we went but there was still seating.
I ordered good ol' bibimbap and we also got jeuk-deopbap and chicken deopbap. Let me start off by saying that the portions are very generous, huge even so if you aren't super hungry, you'll want to keep that in mind before ordering. The bibimbap was nice, as traditional as it gets with beef mince, mushroom, sprouts and cabbage. You can serve up as much gochuchang as you want from the bottle provided. Also, each meal is served with a spicy soup with fish cakes and cabbage salad on the side. So again, don't over order if you aren't ravenous.
The jeuk deopbap had a spicy kick to it whilst the chicken version was more mild with a more teriyaki flavor. Could have had more veggies in both of them but the meat portion was generous. We also ordered a steamed egg soup which didn't arrive but that was probably for the best as we were all stuffed at the end.
Will come back again to try other dishes!
Best Spicy Tokbokki ever. BEST!!!!!!! A bow of seaweed rice ball with spicy tokbokki or fire chicken is unbeatable. This place is the only reason why I can't lose weight. Love from the bottom of my heart~ 😍😍😍 the only thing is they don't have small size dish though. Everything is huge. So you have to come in group. Sometimes I just want to eat alone but can't
Me and husband tried this restaurant when we first came in here. This place has never disappointed us. They serve the best Korean cusine. Also you can walk in and have their tea or coffee free of cost and wait for your food to come in. They also serve a fish cake soup and a salad with any order. At the reasonable pricing and it's our favorite place 💓
Very authentic korean flavor! Always so happy when coming to this restaurant! Happy tummy after finished! The food was very good! Just one thing the waitress asked us to move table while we were eating so they could fit the group in, which is a let down but overall pretty good food 👍
It's a gem! Wonderful place, good food and servers are also very polite. Best part, it's open till late! It's got good feel to it and the best part is, they give complimentary tea!
Food and service are pretty standard but a great place to come to after a night out. Food comes quickly and service is efficient. I recommend the chicken cutlet salad and mussel soup.
Dined here for lunch a couple of times already. The service was good just like the other korean restaurants on high street. It was busy and yet they were very efficient. Self service for water which isn't a big deal.
We ordered the Spicy Beef Stew and Pork Katsu Curry. The food came pretty fast as we didn't wait for very long and they served us the free entree first. The Spicy Beef Stew came with a bowl of ride and salad. The stew looks homemade and the serving size looks decent. However, I could only taste a tiny bit of spicy which is probably the packaged spicy powder. The seasoning of the stew was alright but the overall taste wasn't what I had expected. I think Bannsang's spicy beef stew is better.
The Pork Katsu Curry was a lot better and more aesthetically pleasing. By serving it in a big plate, every ingredient was presented nicely and the quality looked good as well. The pork was nice and crispy but should be hotter instead of warm, and the curry had too much onions. The mushrooms could be cooked in the curry longer to absorb more of the taste. However, it wasn't a dish that I would expect from a korean restaurant though. The salad entree was my favourite.

a wonderful Korean lunch experience thanks to my Korean friends forced me to visit this place. I was welcomed and the menu was presented. it had a vast variety of choice. I had ordered chicken with rice in lunch express menu. after a couple of minutes, a bowl of soup arrived. it was a clear soup personally I did not like it. the salad they served later was just amazing. chicken n rice arrived later and i was ready to get full and happy.
Good place for a comfort and hearty meal, even though it’s underrated compared to their competitor across the street. Love the stir-fried chicken and rice. Their meals always come with a salad and a bowl of soup (which is spicy). Their service is pretty quick even when it’s crowded. I wish they have their lunch menu for dinner too cos I’d love some kimchi stew. They do have soup for dinner but it’s in a huge pot and for sharing only, perfect for drunken night out with friends.
We came here on Friday night and it was pretty packed but they still had space for all eight of us. We ordered over ten bottles of soju. Five bottles of beer. A few teapots of rice wine. The food we ordered was rice and seaweed, also chicken wings. Food is average. We just came to drink soju.
Try the boneless chicken feet with seaweeds rice balls everyone ! You won't be regret.
The only sad thing is these days they make the dish less but it's worth to try 😊
Totally korean style and ideal place to meet up with friends for sochu and snack before clubbing. Chicken wings with cheese on top is my favourite dish.

If you like spicy korean rice cakes this is the place to go
Decent portion, reasonable amount of veges n seafood
Ofcourse their main menu is chicken and chicken feet and all of them come wih their amazing unique sauce.
Decent place for soju as well.
It was a Friday night, I was hanging out with some mates after a movie. After spending at least over 20 minutes deciding on what to eat, we eventually arrived at this place. At every Korean restaurant, I always tend to buy the BBQ Chicken. But instead I ordered the Spicy Pork and sure enough it was spicy and delicious at the same time, a way to keep warm on a cold night with snot running the nose after the nostrils have been blocked. Great feeling. And also the salads and side dishes, they pretty much summed up a great meal for a Friday night before game day.
The service was ordinary, the waiting time was as expected since that there were five of us. The order did take quite some time. As always free water was in the front near the counter but there were no jugs.
By the time we were there, it was a full house. Kind of found it difficult to move around when were needed to go somewhere. But in overall, it has the unique Korean feel, once you enter the place especially with the K-pop music playing and the traditional decor around.
Not bad at all. Love the atmosphere here, came im after at late night, customer service is awesome. Will definately be the new joint after hours.
Good solid korean food! Good portion but definitely on the expensive side. If you are not into spicy food, i would suggest to be careful with what dishes you choose, because their medium can be quite spicy.
What i love about this place is their buldak!! And seafood pancakes! They are amazing! The buldak is basically spicy chicken wing with extra smoky flavour which I really like. And it comes with a bowl of rice and seaweed where you can make your own rice ball!
The place can be busy and noisy, but they are generally pretty quick with the food!
Dined here for dinner after craving some Korean food in town ~
We ordered quickly after being seated, a BBQ Squid and BBQ Pork dish.
As per usual self service for water, the staff were busy clearing tables and taking orders so very efficient here. Food came out quickly and the portions are very decent here.
I found that the food was very saucy which overpowered the meal for me, for both the pork and squid. But the meat were cooked well.
Overall nice atmosphere, does have a typical Korean bar feel and it does get very busy! Would definitely say come here for to get value for money for some decent Korean food ~
Great Korean Food! But very pricey!
I come here to drink 2-3 bottles of soju and get F*cked up before going clubbing.
Sometimes I bring my family along too... but it feels a lot more expensive to dine here when you are sober!
Their spicy food is good because it is actually spicy!

I absolutely enjoy my dish. It's literally MASSIVE and delicious.
I was surprised by the fastness because it's like I wait only 5-10 minutes only!
However,The service is quite disappointed me.
The food here is really great and the place is really crowded. The cheese tteokbokki is the most delicious but the spicy chicken feet is also great. However, the chicken feet is really spicy so if you're not a big fan of spices, i suggest you don't get this.
I was hurrying passed during the week and saw a couple of people getting their orders and I thought to myself, that looks yumm.
My wife and I did some shopping along high street and decided to eat here. The place is clean and not noisy ( being so close to Uni, you expect more noice than usual ) at all. Menus had those helpful pictures. We ordered the Spicy stir fried squid and pork ( for her ). I was curious about the seaweed rice ball, ordered that and soup for the middle, spicy tofu stew. A little left over for home.
The food was very good and quite cheap! You get your cup of rice and a generous serving of the main. Helpful staff as well. Food came quickly and served nice and hot!
We will certainly marked this one as a place to return to when in the city.
Heard a lot of great things about this restaurant and wasnt disappointed. Mostly Korean clientele and the atmosphere was noisy and friendly. Just like a restaurant in Korea! Staff weren't very friendly but orders were served quickly and food was delicious. We had the spicy chicken with cheese, egg soup and sides. Was super delicious and the sides were great too. Big portions so I think it's best to have at least three people. I went with a friend and we couldn't order much because the portions are huge. We had peach soju and it was delicious as well as reasonably priced for alcohol in the city. Food prices seemed a bit expensive at first but because the portions were so big it's actually quite reasonable. Great place to drink and catch up with friends if you like a busy atmosphere
Lotsa Koreans - no surprise! Which also means this is a legit go to place for food and drinks. They operate till 4am! Am usually there for Soju and beer. Beer's $8/bottle while Soju's $15. Btw, their Kimchi pancake's pretty good - albeit on the pricier side at $27/plate.
This place is always busy and I'm always glad to manage to get a table here! The place can be a bit mental at times but it's really worth it. Cheap and cheerful and always happy with the food.
Looking for a lunch option that's cheap, filling, and delicious in the city is becoming a more attainable goal, but finding one that can accommodate hunger pangs before 11 in the morning can be a bit more of a challenge. Enter Dong Demoon, open and ready for business at 10:30 in the morning, happy to serve my friend and me in an hour of untimely starvation with a minimal budget.
Dong Demoon is a typical Korean restaurant in its layout, with a decent selection of food that ranges from dishes-for-one to the familiar feed-a-group Korean dishes. Between two, we opted for individual portions as the menu suggested that the first few dishes were appropriate for only one per person, and that's true - if the capacity of the stomach in question could hold a gallon. Each dish was generous for the price, both of us struggling to finish and me being satisfied with half. The food itself was delicious, if a little greasy. The suggested medium-spicy of my spicy stir-fried pork was just the right shade of heat, building as the eating progressed. The rice left a little something to be desired, though, caked up in one chewy mess. Not enough to deter me from returning.
A recommended lunch option for large portions.
We walked passed this place on a Thursday night and noticed it was really busy - a good sign that it's good !!! And it was! We ordered the Buldak, spicy chicken, which was really good. The spice builds up but still so good. $30 for what seemed like a meal for 3 people, great busy atmosphere l, food came quickly and staff were friendly and attentive! Highly recommend!
Great place for a late night dinner. I usually come here with friends during the night, often its quiet packed but the staff go out of their way to find tables. The spicy fish roe soup is a stand out dish, the right combo of spiciness with being filled with MSG/salt. The spicy squid is decent but can be a bit on the salty side. Worth a visit.
Visited for lunch one day when our usual was closed.
Service was friendly and food arrived quickly, with a small refreshing salad to start.
The first thing we noticed was how large the portions were, being at least twice the size of other eateries.
I ordered the spicy beef stew which was good, but not the best I had had. Positives was the amount of meat and vegetables in it, so was well worth the price.
Dong Demoon is good place to visit when you don't want to spend a lot and have a hearty appetite, or wanting something to takeaway.
Whenever spicy chicken comes up in a conversation, Dong Demoon will most probably be mentioned too. Located opposite of Bannsang on High Street, this korean eatery is open from morning TO morning as it's a popular location for drinking and snacking. Similarly to Pocha, Dong Demoon focuses more on larger sharing dishes such as spicy chicken feet, chicken cartilages, spicy korean soups ; which range from $20-$60. They also serve individual dishes such as the classic stirfry pork/chicken/beef with a side of rice but unlike other korean restaurants, these dont come with any sides apart from a bowl of miso soup and a small side salad :(
The dishes that I have tried-
Stir fried Chicken cartillage with vegetables- 10/10 for taste! This dish comes in either mild, medium spicy and spicy. After reading reviews of how spicy their 'spicy' actually was, we opted for mild which was a perfect spiciness for me. Although the dish was $30, it came with a generous amount of chicken cartilage coated in a sweet spicy sauce and served on a large bed of veges comprised of leeks, spring onions and bean sprouts. highly recommended to share between 2.
Stir fried chicken and rice: 6/10
Wouldnt recommend this dish, or any other individual options, as you'd be missing out on their tastier large specialty dishes. Although the serving size was extremely generous, the flavour was pretty lacking. If you wanted sizzling dishes, I'd reccomend other places like bannsang or Faro on highstreet.
Overall, service hospitality was pretty bad ( i.e. grumpy rude waitress) but would return to try more of their larger dishes; especially their famous spicy buldak ( chicken wings).
Recommended dish: stir fry chicken cartillage
We ordered spicy chicken wings (medium) but still it was way too spicy. Chicken was cooked so well but if your not good with spicy food please order mild level. Then we ordered chicken gizzard (mild) but this time it wasnt even spicy, it was more like.. sweetness. Overall the food was nice if you like spicy food. Service was good too if u know this place is always busy as hell.
I decided to eat here with my family and I wasnt disappointed with the sizes of the dishes. The dishes were almost big enough for 2 people. I really love the ambience of the restaurant.
Overall i really love this restaurant and will surely come back again next time

Spicy chicken wing. Very delicious
I will come back soon.
Am so happy to know here. i like spicy, Top one is Buldak with the soju. serving is very nice also they are very friendly. i would be back here when i want to enjoy the night time
if you don't like spicy, you can choose how spicy you want ! : )
Came here for dinner yesterday night and it was so busy! We went in and got the Budae Jjigae (Army Base Stew), Cheese Ddeokbokki (Spicy rice cake with cheese), Dak Bal (Spicy Chicken Feet) with a bowl seaweed and rice, and two bowls of broth. For a group of six people, these dishes were definitely enough! All these dishes were so delicious and spicy at the same time. I think one of my favourites would have to be the Budae Jjigae or Cheese Ddeokbokki. The sauce from the Cheese Ddeokbokki was amazing, it kind of tasted like BBQ sauce. The chicken feet was so spicy, I had to drink four cups of water and a can of Milkis!
Overall, I definitely enjoyed my dinner here and I will most definitely come back! Korean food is one of my favourite types of cuisines!
Haven't been back here since last year. It's a really convenient location found in the middle of High Street. It's pretty busy but you shouldn't have to wait for a table that long if not at all. It has fairly different meals in its menu compared to most korean restaurants. Food was good and at pretty cheap too and the staff were really friendly!
Partner and I came here on a Friday night as it was one of the few places still open after 10.30pm and wasn't overpriced. The place looked busy even then which was a good sign so decided to dine here.
Menu was fairly extensive and prices looked reasonable, their single dishes were $10-15, and the waitresses showed us meals for two at the back of the menu. I was craving some chicken on rice, so we settled for fried chicken cutlet on salad for two which was $30, and I ordered extra rice for $2 as I wasn't sure of the serving size.
I needn't have worried, as the dish turned out to be huge, served on a huge plate with lots of salad. They had also served us some yummy spicy soup to start.
Chicken was delicious, moist and crispy, covered in a yummy slightly sweet kind of sauce and mayonnaise. We were big eaters but couldn't finish it all. For $30 for two people this was such value for money!
Would highly recommend this place and would go back again, next time with more friends to try out their other sharing dishes.
been here twice and loved the dishes. the ones at the back of the menu are large dishes and they are a bit large for 2 people, my favourite was the rice cake with vegetables, very flavoursome. we ordered the octopus on our second time here but not as nice and took half an hour to prepare. overall quite pricey due to its location but worth it
Incredibly hot is how I would describe the food here. But yummy and generously portioned too. I ordered the spicy pork with rice. It came with a side salad and soup. Salad was nice and zingy. Soup was nicely flavoured with some fish cake bits in it. The pork was smokily hot and proved to be ginormous with the generous amount of cabbage that bumped up the volume on your platter. No usual Korean sides, but you don't miss it. Slices of orange were a great palate cleanser at the end of the meal. Stuffed with change to spare in my pocket. Score!
Good for lunch or dinner. Serves delicious Korean food and the service is always top-notch. The only irk I have with this place is their Fire Bomb chickens used to pack much more heat, but it feels milded down recently. Bring the heat back!
I'm a regular here, this is a great place if you love extra spicy food (tip: if you can't decide what level you want, you can order medium spicy sauce and ask for extra spicy sauce on the side).
The chicken feet is hard to eat, chicken wings is ok, I prefer the boneless chicken feet but this doesn't come with seaweed rice so you need to pay extra. Also I love the spicy rice cake but feels like they don't put as much fillings in it as before.
Overall I like the atmosphere here, good place to have a drink with friends.
A few of my korean friends recommended this place, so I knew it had to be good! Ever since then, I come here always for 3 things:
1) their Buldak (spicy chicken wings) + seaweed rice. I always choose the most spicy level and it is enough to satisfy my chilli craving. It is served as a big platter of wings and a bowl of seaweed rice with a plastic glove. The idea is that one person puts on the plastic glove and makes little balls with the rice!
2) I've also had the soup with scorched rice which we ordered due to the interesting name, but omg! The soup was so tasty and that rice was crispy but soft at the same time. Perfect for a winter's night!
3) The korean pancake. Yum!
We also ordered a bbq seafood platter and that was slightly disappointing even though it was tasty because it had more noodles and raw onions than "seafood".
Overall, one of my new fav korean restaurants!
I tried a Bibimbop for the first time and it was delicious. My partner had a chicken cutlet and he enjoyed that. It was very affordable and the service was good. I will definitely visit again.
I really like this place. Although the dishes are a couple of dollars more than some other korean places, they give you A LOT of food!!
My favourite is the salmon sashimi don. They make it perfect every time.
Last time when I visited, which was on Friday last week, I ordered the squid and that was extremely yummy and not too spicy (I cannot handle hot and spicy food).
Rather than the normal side dishes, this place gives you soup and a really nice salad.
One other thing that's on the top of my favourites is the seaweed rice balls. Yum!
My friends and I came here for dinner and it was quite full - we waited for a while to get the seats (well, I think this place is quite famous).
For individual meal, we ordered spicy stir-fried squid & rice, spicy stir-fried pork & rice, and spicy stir-fried chicken & rice. For me they were not spicy but tasted really yum. Love the red gochujang sauce (which is the key ingredient to give the flavour and spiciness of the meal).
We shared a big medium-hot Buldak (chicken wing) which came with rice ball and seaweed. They were all sooo yummy. All of us were satisfied with our dinner here.
Just bear in mind that the portion of the individual meal was quite big. Some of my female friends could not finish the rice. My advice is sharing the individual meal - or takeaway the remainder. The problem we had was finding a car park - High St could be a busy area in certain times and it is such a small road.
I look forward to come here again.
Another awesome night filled with delicious traditional korean food.
Where else can you be?!
And also how can you tell it is a good korean restaurant
LOOK AROUND @,@
THE RESTAURANT IS FULL OF KOREAN FAMILIES. They are the real expect guranteen YOU that YOU will have good food HERE!
Very nice Korean late night food here. Tastes great, and is open late. Good prices, fast service, and great staff. Would recommend. Have been here about 15-20 times.
Only been here once but I was really satisfied with my meal. I enjoy and love eating spicy food so I was really happy with the meal I ordered which was Spicy Beef, because the flavour and level of spiciness was great (I could've probably even ask to increase the spiciness). The service was fast but the staff were unfriendly - being a little bit rude, probably because it was getting busy at the time (but still not an excuse!) Meals were also a tad bit pricey (maybe due to the location?). Although, I find it hard to bring myself back to this restaurant due to one particular reason - THEY DO NOT SERVE KOREAN SIDE DISHES! this almost brought tears in my eyes. Main reason I go to Korean restaurants is because of their side dishes, its just not authentic if there's no side dishes. Though, they did serve Japanese salad and miso soup. Extremely sad and disappointed about that so its difficult for me to recommend this place to other people.
The best restaurant to go to if a Kpop fan or Korean foodie. Their dishes aren't expensive and the quantity of the food you get is enough to feed you in 2 sittings. Their side dish of salad and soup is tasteful and i highly recommend their Marinated Beef dish. It's also a good restaurant to go to after a night of drinking as they close quite late.
My first time eating at a Korean restaurant and it was such a good experience. The service was great and the atmosphere was very comfortable to eat and talk. I'm not a spicy person in taste and eating dakbal (chicken feet) at mild for the first time was the right amount of spice to get me sweating but still eating so choose you're meals wisely or ask to lessen the spice.
Food was really great!!, had a stir-fry spicy squid and the taste was so good...the spices were awesome and service was nice..:-),went there with 2 of my korean friends to explain further the menu and ask what's the bestseller..,overall experience was great..very much recommended!!!
The late hours here make Dong Demoon a restaurant that is VERY hard to leave out of your 3am crave solutions! The Japchae here is probably the best I've had in Auckland! I definitely agree with the previous reviews... This place is not for the spicy-challenged, as the food here is very high on the spicy spectrum for most people. Great atmosphere, very private and intimate while being quite comfortably loud, allowing you to feel at ease! Great vibes. Good food. GREAT hours!
If you want some spice in your life, Dong Demoon is the place to be. They have extreme level of spicy chicken nibbles, chicken feet and many other dishes.
Situated near the coffee club on High St, Dong Demoon is an easy stop for lunch to even a really late dinner with couple of makgeolli (korean rice alcohol). My favourite choices for food would be the spicy tteok-bokki or the spicy chicken nibbles. It is abit pricey in comparison to the portion, so 3 people to a dish is recommended or go as a big group and order heaps of dishes. Alongside the main dishes, I like to order the egg stew, which is boiled up on a hot stove. It is an ideal combination with the spiciness of the main meal because it can get quite spicy. Even drink a banana milk drink they have and it will cool your mouth instantly- even faster than water.
Of course, if you aren't into the whole spicy thing, you can always ask to adjust the level of spiciness to your taste, or even order other dishes they have on hand.
This place is recommended only if you are spicy food crazed or understand the level of spiciness in Korean food. I come here whenever I feel like sweating it all out with spicy food. They do have level of spiciness options for some dishes but they will still be very spicy!
One of their popular dish is Spicy Chicken Feet (the texture is very different from Chinese dimsum style, and is quite chewy), also known as Dakbal.
This place is usually packed from dinner time onwards and can get a bit noisy with mostly young people coming to drink and have a good time (Korean way).
There are also non-spicy foods that you can enjoy so don't be afraid to have a go at something a little different.
I go to this restaurant when I feel like very spicy food. One of the best korean restaurants to feel the spicy food of Korea! Their ddukboki is the best one in Auckland. You might think its quite expensive but its portion enough to be shared between 2-3 people although its getting smaller these days ... Recommend you to have dish with banana milk to lessen the spiciness.
A Korean restaurant that the youngster likes to go and popular with Koreans as well. The food is great like the seafood pancake and Budae Jjigaeand. Selections here are a bit different to your usual Korean restaurant. You can even get chicken feet! If you get the seaweed rice, you will be given a glove which one person is in charge of making rice balls for the tables 🤣. Service is very good and the food order is out fast. Definitely highly recommended!
Bulgogi lunch special was tasty. The ingredients were fresh. If you add some chili sauce, the taste would be even better.
Lovely food, atmosphere and staff. Came here late Saturday night for some food and drinks with my friend and found everything to my liking. Staff was kind enough to put up with my constant song requests (sorry 😅) definitely recommend chicken feet and the crispy chicken and chips. Tastes especially good with 고구마 막걸리 Will definitely come back again.
Service was fine, food were tasty and reasonably priced. Dubu kim chi was really yummy!

Mouthwatering dishes!!! Very good service! Will definitely come back! Highly recommend ❤️
We enjoyed our meals here. Delicious Korean food. Recommend o try salmon salad and their hot pot. Helpful staff. Store is a bit small. There is a toilet which is well maintained.
All staff there is super friendly and polite. The chef seemed to have forgotten to add glass noodles to our soup, probably due to being swamped during dinner service. However, the staff swiftly addressed the issue, offering us two fruit milks as a gesture of apology. We truly appreciate your kindness and assistance. The food is always delicious, and love their hot pots and soups.
Food was good. I always thought Korean food is bbq, but this restaurant serve very special and different Korean food. I love the hot pot. Hope to see more variety as we have friend do not eat beef
The restaurant happened to catch my eye. My group and I came back for dinner and sat outside. I enjoyed watching the K-Pop music videos. The service was really good, food was reasonably priced - and it came out surprisingly fast!
Good Recommend. I think management or chef changed. We ordered cheese buldak and mulnaegmyun(cold noodle). Food taste amaging. Sizzling plate with spring onion, seasoned chicken and melted cheese was very good combination. Lady Who servef our table was very kind. We used to order bulgopmak from this Place. I cant wait to order this one.
Seafood Soup($32) Chicken($40)
Wallet💵 is a little sore but no regrets
More a bar vibe than restaurant, service was very fast.
Nice place to eat if you like spicy.
Second time here today, brought my 2 other work mates. Very yummy foods, can’t wait to be back. Full on busy as soon as they opened at 12pm probably cause uni has started about 2 weeks in. Highly recommending booking in advance. Few photo items on the menu are misleading (in a good way) as they appear to look small on the menu but is actually a large proportion, for example the rice cakes. But it’s fine if you’re from south Auckland cause no feeds are too big for us south Aucklanders
A place I frequently visit when I'm out in the CBD. The Korean fusion food here is quite good. I've tried various dishes, and most of them are delicious. Just be mindful of the spice level. It's a popular spot for young people to grab drinks, so if you're visiting with family, it might get a bit noisy. Parking is nearly impossible; you'll need to park in a paid parking lot nearby. The staff is friendly, and the food is tasty, which is why I come back often. Highly recommended!
Tasty food, lovely staff & atmosphere. Service is tip top!
Lovely service and awesome aesthetics with glow lights around. The food was affordable and big portions. Great for a group. Loved the seaweed rice balls!
