I had tried one of their mee goreng and it was really nice. It was quite different from other places since it had a distinct sambal flavour in the noodles.
The shop is a small area across the road from Rainbows End. There are other stores and restaurants around too and this one looks to be the smallest. They have a few tables inside. The menu looks interesting and would be keen to try more when I'm in the area, particularly the sago.
We had nasi goreng, nasi lemak, mee goreng and roti canai with chicken curry. All were really delicious 😋
Loved this little place! It’s the closest Malaysian food outlet to us and whenever we crave for a hearty Malaysian meal we go here. Good price, friendly service, generous portion and yummy dishes!
This has been my go to place since they’ve opened. The hokkien noodles is DIVINE. Other favourite dishes are the laksa, marmite pork and nestum prawns!
Oh man I'm sad I didn't take photos for this one but let me tell you I will be back . If you are wanting value for money this is the place to go! No the interior is not fancy but the staff really care about the customers. And the food!!
I got a chicken laksa and my partner got Malaysian Chicken curry on rice . My laksa was spicy but flavorful , you know the kinda spice that hits you but it taste so good you can't stop eating . The noodles ! Pretty sure they were hand made cause I could still taste the flour on them ! Amazing! My partners chicken was so tender it was filling of the bone well trying to pick it up. Just so flavorful and juicy!
Your guys food is amazing and great value for money . We will back to try more things off your extensive menu! Hope your happy with some new regulars 😬💞
Good food for a good price. If you're Malaysian you will like this place especially when the chef is from Ipoh.
The wait here can be a while hence the 4. But otherwise friendly service and good food. Highly recommend.
Thick, creamy and flavoursome laksa. Best you can get in south Auckland and for only $10! More veges in the curry would be nice but to be honest not too phased
For $10 chicken curry laksa is the best value meal in Manukau area! Wait can be long if gets busy as most of the time it's only the husband and wife team only.
If you don't mind the wait then do try here as a cheap eat option when you are around here.
It was tasty, the Nasi Lemak was very good and came with the nuts and dried fish and so was the Laksa. The roti was as good as you are going to find it here in NZ (it's not the same as Malaysia but it's tasty). The roast duck was a tad salty but the service was friendly, portions massive and price was fantastic.

Indeed YUMMY! Big portions as well! My husband and I ordered Nasi Lemak, Mee Goreng and Chicken Laksa, and everything is just authentic! Their Nasi Lemak needs more sides (dried fish, peanuts and sambal) other than that it’s all good.
Can’t wait for our next visit and will order the Hainanese Chicken, repeat order Laksa and mee goreng ❤️
Staff are smiling and nice to us.
This place lives up to its name.
The staff are lovely, friendly and accommodating
The food is yummy Malaysian Chinese.
Yummy Kitchen is tiny. I think only has 5 or 6 tables but it does do takeaways. The decor is basic, more like a takeaway joint with a few tables.
If you are looking for the current fad of Neon Asian Fusion go somewhere else.
Yummy Kitchen is simple, and delicious.
Thank you.
Tasty Malaysian classics available at Yummy Kitchen! Have been here a couple of times now for lunch since I work around Manukau.
Recommend the Mee Goreng and Sambal Chicken Rice.
Tip: order through Menulog and pick up at a time convenient for you.
My husband and I are regular customers for years. Loved everything on the menu although the boss already knows what our order is every time we walk in :P
We don't go there as much as we did before because we moved out of South Auckland over a year now.. it's quite far to go there but we still visit them once a while for their yummy authentic Malaysian food!! Very yummy and flavourful food with consistency!!
& a friendly reminder there could be a long wait for the food especially during the dinner time as they've only got one chef so you may wanna phone them first for the takeaway order or go there earlier before you get too hungry :P
So glad I discovered this little Gem 6 months ago. I'm addicted and go there at least once or twice a week. The Laska is the best I've ever had. Chicken curry with Roti great too. If this place was in the viaduct and seated 100 people it could charge 5 times as much and be full every night.
I've been to this place many times and I am one of those guys to firmly believe to make a good chicken curry, you must cook with random off-cuts with bone in. As a true Indian, when you eat with your bare hand you get to suck all the flavors in for maximum impact 😜 and they will have you do just that!
Food - 4.5/5
Ordered Malaysian Chicken Curry with Roti (Paratha), chicken pieces were tender and very flavorful. This dish reminds me of my grandma's, you ought to love your nana's food.
Ambience - 3/5
It is small takeaway type of joint. I wouldn't expect more than this quite honestly
Service - 4/5
Food served to my table reasonably quick every time, friendly staff
always good, great service and Amazing tasting broth,I love spicy so I always ask for extra spicy which the provid and than increases the tastes lever for me very satisfied
Saturday 10 Mar 2018,老公喊炒贵刁,有锅气好吃。我喊滑蛋河,比其他餐厅淡,好吃。
4/4/2018
I order 红烧香菇排骨饭,像酱油排骨喽。
And 云吞面,云吞和面都好吃,我喜欢它的叉烧,老公嫌它太干。
husband order mee goreng, taste better than last time (that time is too wet.)
11/4/2018
Husband order yummy nasi goreng (taste spicy is his favorite )and hokkien noodles.
I order sweet and sour fish fillets on rice (very Appetizing)
28/7/2018 lunch,
I ordered a xing Chow fried vermicelli, at first a little spicy, more you eat, getting more spicy.
My husband ordered a Malaysia Hokkien noodles, just okay.
6/1/2019,lunch.
I order won ton dry noodles, love it.
Husband order mee goreng, too salty.
We take away tofu with assorted meat and vegetables, smell good tasted fine.
9 March 2019,try another dish.
I order 海南鸡饭,husband order大碌面。
Delicious fresh food! So many vegan options as well. We all loved our meals - I had the vege laksa which was incredible, my daughter had the vege rendang Beef on rice (vegan soy fake meat) which she loved so much, so did I, she didn’t want to share it though! Haha My son had honey BBQ pork on rice which he enjoyed. We also got the vege sambal chicken (soy fake meat) on rice to share which was nice. The laksa for me was the winner, close to being the best I’ve eaten.
I visited the restaurant on a Thursday at 2pm and was surprised to find the carpark almost full. The restaurant is small with 3 large tables and 4 small tables so it maybe a good idea to book a table here. There were diners at two other tables when I arrived. The restaurant is nice and clean but little ambiance. I ordered the curry chicken laksa ($10) & a can of coke ($2), both good value. The laksa arrived promptly and was a nice large serving. Their spin on the curry laksa was including a slice of lemon which of course gave it nice touch of citrus. The laksa tasted great and I'll definitely be back. The service was fine. They also do takeaways.
Came here for lunch. Clean and tasty food. Good selection of vegetarian options available. Friendly staff. It's more of a takeaway joint though and cramped for space inside.
Good value, large range of Asian food. Presentation is well above the mark for a takeaway restaurant. They are a bit slow when busy however.
Yummy food! Friendly service and reasonable prices. Had the hainanese chicken and Nasi Lemak and vegetarian Tofu. The Nasi Lemak could do with a bit more sauce otherwise awesome meal.
one of my fav place for lunch. Friendly staff good service and yummiest food. you may need to wait for long but its worth waiting. Give it a try you wont leave dissatisfied.
We are tourist from Singapore. So believe us when we say that this is authentic Malaysian/Chinese food. Besides the authenticity, we find that the food is good and variety aplenty. Maybe it's being homesick but the food (and the balacan chilli) deserve full points!
Great little place. Service is friendly and fast. Food super hot and scruumy.
Been having the roti chani and chicken curry for lunch....this is really good dish. The balance of flavours and portion size is perfect.
Very hard to leave dissapointed.
My parents are big fans of Yummy Kitchen, we’ve been frequenting it as a family for many years and it was one of their selections for my visit back home. We ventured in ordering two quintessential Malaysian dishes and the quality of the food is as good as ever. For the price you get such generous serves and every bite tastes authentic and comforting. My only slight negative is that on this occasion there was a glacial pace (with only two covers). On other occasions (peak lunchtime) it can be hard to get a table so do plan ahead. It's worth it though.
Came to this little place because of the Hainanese Chicken photo I saw that so yummy looking. To be honest, the rice is average, the chicken is succulent and juicy with soy sauce ,shallot oil topping but the portion is way too small!!! Chilli sauce is quite nice.
Very authentic Malaysian curry Laksa and Egg gravy rice noodle (Wat Tan Hor) And the belachan chilli is so spicy, goes so well with the noodles. Good portion size and reasonable prices.
We discovered this place a few months ago and have been back at least 50 times. Yes, a few times a week. :-) This is a gem of a place but hard to spot unless you are looking for it specifically. The nasi lemak is outstanding, so is the hainaese chicken rice and hokkien mee. It's family-run and the owners are very good with recommending meals if you are not familiar with Malaysian food. Anna can probably talk you into ordering something something you may have reservations about trying. She can even sell fridges to Eskimos. In short, I recommend you go there the next pay day. :-)
Lunched here after hearing it opened in Manukau! Not that many Asian restaurants out Manukau!
It's a small restaurant, but the food looks and tastes really good! Staff are friendly although they seem flustered at times but I guess that happens when it's busy and your speaking three different languages to different customers, which is understandable!
Ordered the Mee Goreng and Stir Fry Vege Chicken with Black Bean Sauce on Rice.
Both dishes are really big in portions! We ended up taking away the left overs. The food was good and filling although there is a wait for food to be delivered, but it comes straight from the wok so at least it's freshly made and very hot haha.
They have an extensive menu included a wide range of vegetarian options which I will definitely be back for.
I'd highly recommend if your looking for big portions and a great meal!
really great malaysian food . hot spicey , clean and great service .
The staff and owner is very friendly.
We made a big takeaway order of Mee goreng , chicken curry , roti and fried rice.
They were fast , food was hot , really delicious and they even gave me a discount for the big order.
Highly recommend this place , especially for takeaways .
It right across from Rainbowsend with plenty of parking.
The menu has good selection , i like my food spicey and chilli and they made sure the food was delicious and flavoursome.
Cheers Sam
best of luck for the future
Great food - we had a spectacular prawn and chicken noodle dish, and spicy pork belly lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The dumplings were excellent also. Prices very food - excellent value.
Small but very busy restaurant. Staff was friendly. We came here for malaysian food and although we didnt have any trouble ordering the Malaysian dishes that we wanted the choices werr very limited. The food came out fresh with good flavours however we did wait for 20min+ after ordering.
Excellent customer service, the owner is really friendly and welcoming. Food is amazing and affordable too. Keep up the good work :) but would like the chef to keep it more authentic as their fried rice tends to have lots of dark soy sauce...
We had lunch there few days ago. The restaurant was not big can may be accommodate about 30 people maximum. We tried their wantan noodle soup, kampung (village) fried rice, fried Hokkien noodle (black thick noodle), spring rolls, mee goreng (fried noodle), honey ribs rice. We loved the new goreng and kampung fried rice cause they tasted like what we had back in Malaysia. The fried Hokkien noodle was yummy too. Nice to try out if you are in Manukau.
The laksa is the best I had in Auckland, other dishes are all good as well, I'm glad this place is close to work ,best choice for work lunch
Good food and excellent, friendly service.
I had a the spicy beef noodle soup. I was going to have the brisket but was told they no longer do a brisket as it is "too fattening" which is a little bizarre. The won-ton soup was a little disappointing as it seemed there was nothing in the won-tons but minced pork.
I do wish they had condiments on the tables too so you can customise the food to your personal preference though as having to ask is tedious.
Amazing time. Very friendly service from Anna. The food was delicious! The service was quick. Well worth the visit. Yummy Kitchen is yum yum yum!
Really good food and friendly service. Dinners can be a bit of a wait but freshly made wontons/dumplings to order is worth the wait IMO (You'll see them making the filling and shaping the wontons - not pre made or frozen)! Reminds me of mums cooking. Wholesome, fresh and full of love.
Still one of my favourite places for Malaysian food. I visit regularly and it never fails to give me and my family a great meal at a very reasonably price.
This place is one of my regular eateries. Good quality Chinese and Malaysian food. They do a great Hainanese Chicken Rice and their Mee Goreng is worth trying too. Prices are reasonable with good service.
good , home cooked style food. good hospitality too. went back a few times for takeaway. wouldn't hesitate to recommend ! feel free to contact them :)
The food here is simply delicious. Great prices and wonderful hospitality. Can't ask for more really. I've been back a number of times and they have never failed to impress.
AMAZING! Finally found a perfect Chinese
takeaway! The food is absolutely delicious and huge portion sizes, very well priced, and amazing hospitality! Anna is so friendly and even introduced herself and shook our hand when we arrived not to mention hilarious and had us in fits of laughter. She even asked us if we would like music on. Chicken vegetable Black bean is my absolute favourite. Highly recommend, can not wait to go back!
Good dining, food very authentic, reasonably priced, quiet, small and personal.
Cans of drink at $2.50 - pricey, should have ordered green tea instead.
Overall great service :D Friendly and hospitable owners made for a nice dining experience! Very tidy restaurant. The food was spot on. Having experienced traditional Malaysian cuisine in Brunei, it transported us all back there. Very authentic!
Yummy food! Restaurant quality and delicious. I've been going there very regularly - the hospitality from the owners is amazing: friendly and chatty. Hope they can have a bigger space to serve more customers and also introduce asam laksa to the menu!
Visited on Saturday 8th Jan for lunch. Warm welcome on arrival by very friendly owner who recommended 2 Malaysian dishes for us. Food was served promptly and was great. The outlet was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom.
We look forward to visiting again.
Don’t be fooled by the atmosphere. We’ve been coming here for years. If we feel like flavourful Malaysian and local, yummy kitchen is our go to.
Good number of vegetarian options, which is great. The items we tried were delicious. Friendly owner/operators. Highly recommended and will be back to try more of the vegetarian options.
1 of the best salted fish fried rice I have eaten in a long time.
Great place to get takeaways. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty the food was. I've tried a lot of places but I would have to say the fried rice and mee groeng was the best I've had so far. Simple and delicious. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is portion size is smaller when compared to other Chinese restaurants, but overall good food and service. Parking can be difficult to find in front of the shop especially on weekends, best to park off street and walk to the restaurant.
Authentic, delicious and affordable Malaysian cuisine. We tried the char koay teow, mee goreng and curry laksa. Great wok hay taste and delicious. Can get busy so be prepared for longer wait times or order in advanced.
Update: went again after a long time being away and it’s just as good as I remember. We had the laksa and it was so flavoursome. The staff were so lovely and food was just the right amount of spice.
This is an under-rated little gem of a restaurant. It is nothing flash and lacking in decor, but the food is top-notch, cheap with large portions. Service is fast and I never regret stopping by.
I often visit my parents in Auckland, dad knows a lot of good Malaysian food spots in Auckland. He took me to this one and said hands down best char kuey teow in Auckland. Food was great, even had a bit of my mums chicken rice! The chili they use there definitely has a kick so be wary! Overall a quite satisfying meal before heading off to the airport. Highly recommended
Loved the egg tofu. Quite a lot of vegetarian options and can do allium free.
Very good food if you are into Malaysian. Try their curry puff. Prices are very reasonable.
After eating at various 'western' diners the first 2 days in Manukau, we were craving for some flavors of home (ok Malaysia is not my home but the food is close enough). Finally found this diner thru Google maps. First time here I ordered the Malay Curry Beef Brisket Rice and Malaysian Wat Dan Hor. The curry beef in particular was amazing. Wife was gushing over the Hor Fun saying it's better than any zichar Hor Fun she had eaten in Singapore. Oh and the owner also served us hot Chinese tea which "saved our lives" on that frigid day. First time eating such legit Malaysian dishes in Auckland. We came back here the next day and tried the Char Kway Teow and Rendang Chicken on Rice. Both were awesome as expected. Will definitely come back again if I ever come back to Manukau.
Yummy Kitchen in Auckland is a popular Malaysian restaurant, known for its great taste and smell. Although the restaurant doesn't have many seats and can get busy, it's worth it for the delicious dinner options. The menu offers a variety of Malaysian dishes to choose from, making it a great option for those looking to try something new. Overall, it's a must-visit spot in Auckland for those craving authentic Malaysian cuisine.
If you ever feel like a Decent Curry Laksa - This is the place to go...
Amazing owners who go out of their way to make sure you have left feeling fed, or over packed the quantities you've ordered for take away... Love this place....!!!
Delicious and tasty meal. Highly recommended as price reasonable too
If you are craving for Malaysian Chinese food, this is the place. I love their egg grvy noodles and char keow teow!
Hidden gem in the heart of Manukau. Since moving in the south Auckland from city, I have tried many takeaways in rewa, papatoetoe or around Manukau City. This place turned out the best of them all. Amazing, I have tried mostly every on rice meal and fried rice, everything is just literally YUMMY.
