My favourite place for yumcha, they have an awesome variety, a convenient area to park and a big seating space perfect for large groups. They do these unique rice rolls using purple rice - so delicious, and their Portuguese egg tarts are so good!

I live in east but I always come here for yumcha cause it’s soo good. Very wide selection of food that is not available at other places. I came for dinner recently and everything was so fresh and tastyyy. Plus they have a handful of biggg private rooms that’s good for large or imitate gatherings.

This should be the best yumcha in central area now. A lot of choices to choose, and many new yumcha dishes such like red rice noodle roll, goat tripe and walnut bun.

Only got the chance to take photos of the duck, but all of their dishes are delicious!

Professionally run with a huge, spacious venue. Great place to dine with friends and/or family. Great quality food and overall enjoyable dining experience.

I never heard of the Cypress till my young one asked me to take her there for a birthday gathering, and once there this was the old Valentines site, and hooray is a Cantonese theme eatery too, my second trip there we had the usual known Cantonese dishes such as steam fish, fry rice, stir frys etc. nice vibrant ambiance like in any Canton theme restaurant too must return for yum char one day too,
so if you wanna find a popular Cantonese restaurant go the the most noisy one like this one.

This is now my next favorite yumcha. Newly open, excellent service, very large friendly. The food it very good and they also have special dishes other yumchas don’t have. Also this yumcha is the most worth and best value for money. Hope they keep it up! Have already came here 2 days in a row!

The best BBQ pork we've had! It was fresh, juicy and the ratio of the meat to the fatty pork was just perfect! The restaurant itself was nice and clean, because it was nice and open with high ceilings, the smell of the many different dishes didn't engulf the place, so the ventilation is great! The wait staff were so polite & if the manager on the night who served us was great! All the dishes we had were yummy, juicy, full of flavour but not over powering because you could still taste the flavor of the meat! We BBQ Pork, Prawn & Cashew, Lamb chops in black bean sauce, Honey pork, Oysters(these were jumbo sized), green onion pancake(it was more of a bread than the usual pancake BUT it was YUMMY still & a much better suit to all the dishes). We'll definitely be back to try other things but for now, we're very satisfied customers!

I’d say there was a good selection of the dim sum dishes, we tried out some different and newer dishes and also got our go-to stuff. Wait time wasn’t too bad to get a table.

Great ambience and nicely decorated. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Extensive choice of Dim Sums and quite a few rare finds.

Favourite of the day has to be the Red Rice Roll - 紅米腸. It was a surprise to be able to have it here as it’s rare even in HongKong/GuangZhou. This was a bit like “zaa leong” where the deep fried dough were wrapped by thin rice roll. BUT WAIT!!! There’s more to this red rice roll!! The deep fried dough were stuffed with meat! I very impressed how the chef has each layer perfectly - the rice roll were thin and smooth, the deep fried dough was crispy and the meat stuffed in has pretty good flavour.

Will definitely come back for dinner and try other dishes.

HOTTEST YUMCHA OPENING 📍Cypress Restaurant 柏悦酒楼 replaced the old Valentine’s on Dominion, and it is BUZZING. We arrived just before 11am and it was fairly empty...11:30am I turned around and it was max capacity; and when we left the queue outside was like half of China. ANYWAYS we got 14 dishes and here are some of the highlights! (BTW I have no idea how to translate these to English so bear with me 😂)
-
• Crispy Red Skin Rice Rolls (14/10) my first time having these were in Guangzhou, China and only a few places do them in Auckland. Cypress is one of them and WTF never have I ever seen filling that FAT and the crispy layer between the filling and the red skin was AMAZING it’s really authentic, probably better than the ones I had in Guangzhou! They pile it with 4 types of sauces and you NEED to try this to get what I’m talking about! • Walnut Buns (10/10) I’ve had these a few times elsewhere but these were the best in terms of real ingredients, portions and pastry : filling ratio! • Egg Tarts (10/10) YES perfect balance of custard pudding and pastry! I really need to say that all of their flaky pastries are PERFECT, it’s not thick, hard and dense yet it retains its layers that crumbles away. Not too sweet and not too eggy, I could’ve ate more if my stomach had more room. • Char Siu Pastry (10/10) front dish in photo, the sweetness and saltiness of the char siu filling was intense and moist. THE PASTRY THOUGH so crumbly and buttery and flakes away as your teeth sinks into it! • Braised Beef Tripe (10/10) HANDS DOWN BEST beef tripe I’ve had, a plate of thick piping hot soft tender beef tripe that’s insanely soaked with flavour, you bite into it and it legit bursts in your mouth! • Fried Crispy Taro + Meat Dumpling (9/10) massive portions! Crumbles in the mouth and not greasy at all! There’s a layer of buttery Taro mash between which was my favourite part, and meat mince filling in the centre! -
Theres a HUGE VARIETY we didn’t get to try and everything here is not greasy at all! Also can I just say, 14 dishes only set us back by $83 !!! I can vouch that this will be the new yumcha go-to that is affordable, authentic and offers variety!

We were at Cypress for Yum-cha which is opened recently. I don't usually have confidence in Chinese food. My first experience at Cypress was reasonably good - nice food with good varieties; fast & friendly services; comfortable seating environment. Dim-sums were pushed out in trolleys.  I'll need to try its dinner before giving a fairer comment.

Good and authentic Chinese food. The food came out really quickly and was delicious. However, the sweet and sour pork was lacklustre as it tasted a little bland. Apart from that, everything else was delicious.

A classic chinese style restaurant. I came here with me grandma and my family and left feeling satisfied and will be coming back here again. We ordered the steam blue cod (live from the tank), salty fish eggplant pot, cashew chicken and veges & gai lan with beef stirfry.

Went there with my family for lunch. The food is amazing but it doesn’t like other Yum cha restaurants which have trolley to pick up food from.

The food is delicious. The restaurant was so crowded during the weekends. We had to wait for a bit to be served. The price is a little expensive but it was worth it. We came in a group of 3 people, the bill was approx 140 including 15% surcharge on public holiday.

Enjoyed the 3 course Peking duck for $78!! The duck for the wraps had a decent about of just skin pieces/no meat left on skin pieces which I’m more used to (empress garden from what I remember has a lot of duck meat on it). Was crispy and delish! Although I thought the soup was a bit bland as didn’t have the flavour of the duck bones in it. Also had the beef flat noodles $28 and man tou deep fried buns $12 with condense milk 🤤 yummy! (Yep we had lots of leftovers to takeaway for 2 people). Service was ok, friendly, some staff speak English most didn’t speak it very well. Didn’t get a tea top up. Clean enough and ok ambience, like you could dress up or dress down if you wanted to. Would go again! Although the other main meals seemed pricey, $38 for that long bean and mince dish😵 $32 for tofu

Delightful place to have your yum-char, and their prices are reasonable especially for its portion size. However, they don't push the carts around like any other yum-char places, but they'll take your order instead. Although it can take a while for them to take your order, they speedily serve your order. However, if you come over on special days such as Mother's Day, then be prepared to face a long queue, both to get in as well as to get your order. Parking is not too bad, as you can use the shared parking area.

Came here for a banquet style dinner. Very nice food. Very good service. Dined in one the private rooms. Waitress/waiter were attentive and efficient without being intrusive. Pics of the fish dishes is not off the menu as we brought in our own catch for the kitchen to prepare. I returned today for a yum cha lunch. The food and service was very, very good. Definitely going back for more. Update. For yum cha, make you come earlier than 11:50am or be prepared to wait more than 30 mins. Staff did not appear to have a system in place to handle casual diners waiting.

This restaurant is not my usual go to restaurant, personally I feel the food is good. But one of my friends had bad experience with them before. I am consider it was one time thing. Food come out from Kitchen fast, Services is good, Especially manger or owner, he was greeting to clents of every table. Parking should not been a problem, the parking lot outside has a lot of parking spaces, even they have underground parking.

I like how you just order what you want, instead of waiting for food coming around to your table like other yum cha restaurants. And their food are so yummy

The food here was good, tasty and affordable. The service was good, very quick. It was very busy at lunch time on a Wednesday so I’d recommend coming a bit earlier to grab a table quicker.

For its price, worth the wait. Part of ordering is that you don’t have to wait for the cart to come around, and most things are available if you go early enough. Highlights would be the custard bun (the black one), prawn toast (almost all prawn, tiny toast) and the red rice roll. I have yet to try anything less than average from their menu, even something out of left field (like red bean cake) that I wouldn’t normally order were all peasant surprises. This is now our favourite establishment for yumcha when we come to Auckland, narrowly beating out Alexandria Park.
