Mexicali Fresh is always the damn place to be. I always come here with mates or boyfriends or whoever. I always always always get the chicken quesadilla it is so fricken amazing dude it's just straight up dope as fuk. I love how they chuck the chips and salsa on the side as like an extra shnacc. I'm just in love with there mexican food here it's so bloody good omg you NEED to go here if you haven't because everything just tastes too damn good. x
Great place with yummy food! What made this outlet stand out though was the great service we received from Jenson. Would recommend. Generous sides of salsa and guacamole with the quesadilla.
Solid 4 star. I eat here once a week, the food is alway good quality, the fries are awesome too! The only thing that lets them down is over the busy lunch rush they sometimes don’t have enough staff, so the wait time is a little long (worth the wait though)
Much better than Mad Mex. Love that they now use free range meat. Mexicali fresh is good for a super casual lunch and can be made healthy if you want.
Apart from the fact there are now about fourteen Mexican restaurants in a row along P Rd, making it hard to distinguish (for an amateur diner like myself) which one you have accidently landed in (Mexico, Mexicali, Mad Mexicali, Mexico Mex, Mexicoli and Mex Mexico just to name a few of them) there is plenty to celebrate, which each one bringing it's own unique combination of Mexicanness to town... In the case of this one we combine a fast food element with basic rustic fit out. The tacos, nachos and quesadillas are made up in front of you by friendly servers and you can enjoy your meal on a high table with a pleasant brewski. Definitely a go to place for a quick healthy lunch at a reasonable price...
Dine in experience. Awesome interior, staff was friendly. Easy step by step when ordering for your meal although it was hard to choose which one. Nice quick easy meal to have. Also fresh. Yum. I would recommend to anyone who opts for a change.

I have been to every mexicali in auckland and this is the best one. Their food is always fresh with generous amounts of meat. My usual favourite is the Fajita chicken salad. Iv been here more times than I care to admit. I love their loyalty points system which makes eating here more affordable and a weekly treat

I really love Mexican food, though I am not the most knowledgeable about whether or not flavours are authentic. To me, Old El Paso kits are pretty amazing, especially the tacos and chicken enchiladas! So, when reviewing a Mexican restaurant, I am trying to keep in mind that I may not be the most experienced critic when it comes to Mexican cuisine. I really enjoyed the food at this place and thought it was fresh and tasty! My friend and I ordered two tacos each and some corn chips with refried beans and salsa. I'm not the biggest fan of refried beans, I find the texture really od but my friend enjoyed it. I really liked the chicken taco. I noticed my friend had chipotle on her one so I went back inside and asked the lady behind the counter for some. Why was the chipotle not offered to me when I ordered the tacos? It's not nice to deprive me of chipotle, and hiding it won't work, I will find it in the end! We also got some Mexican cola which was delicious! All in all, this place is good value for money, has friendly service and tasty Mexican food!
Anson from Mexicali Ponsonby has been applying his trade for well over a decade, is an absolute legend and home to the best cali burrito in Auckland. Big fan of the shredded chicken tacos as well. Highly recommend trying.

We went to Mexicali for brunch. Greeted with lovely smiles and hospitality ! The waiter allowed us to create out own Nachos with double meat or pulled pork and mince etc. Such lovely service and delicious tasty food !!

The street nachos are amazing and super yummy! I love that it comes with Queso cheese instead of regular cheddar sprinkled at the top.
It's very similar to USA, even the dine in baskets, the regular is massive and it's usually good. Sometimes it's better than others depending on the proportions of ingredients. Often too much beans & rice, no where near as much meat as you'd get in usa so one less star:)

Had lunch at about 1 on a Sunday, and it was surprisingly quiet! Mexico, next door seemed to have more patrons, but bang for buck, mexicali is way better. The food here, as always, was phenomenal, good size portions, packed with flavour, service with a smile! Parking in Ponsonby is always annoying, so keep that in mind..

I popped in for a quick lunch. It's the perfect quick bite. I was surprised by the flavours. For some reason I thought it might be under welming. The decor is a bit boring. But I enjoyed my lunch. It was really OK
Love how all the food is made fresh every day. My absolute favourite is the quesadilla chill, yum. They also have lots of promos do worth downloading the app if you like fresh Mexican.
Expensive, but good quality. Their burritos are generous and tasty - just be aware that their menu board doesn't list the more basic items - check the paper menu for more options.
