The egg tarts are the best in Auckland!
Mum bought the original sponge cake and a Portuguese egg tart from Yuan Taste to share. I tried a bit of everything and I prefer the sponge cake to the Portuguese egg tart.
The sponge cake was light and airy so it wasn't very filling, making it the perfect cake to have a cup of coffee with. The cake wasn't very sweet as well, which I really appreciate. I'd like to try the coffee and walnut cake next time as the coffee cake is one of my favourites. The Portuguese egg tart pastry was a little dense and dry in my opinion but I absolutely loved the egg custard. The egg custard was sweeter than the sponge cake and was quite similar to a creme brulee as it was torched on top.
I'd come back for desserts and snacks and recommend this place.
Their egg tarts are pretty big, but if you go too late you may miss out as sometimes the egg tarts have already sold out. When there aren't any egg tarts left I buy the original sponge cake to share with the family which is perfect to have with coffee. Service is friendly.
This is such an authentic Taiwanese traditional bakery. Love the different types of sponge cakes and the egg tarts are extremely yummy!! Have a look at the photos. I just love it full stop š¬š¤š
Ordered the original one, itās ok. Too sweet for me. For me, I prefer the cake skin rather than the cake, sorry to say that. May try other flavors with friends

Love this bouncy and not too sweet chiffon cake. Range from $20-25. Our favourites are cheese, walnut, coffee and matcha. Perfect afternoon tea treats and great for gifts too. They do stamps collection. Heard they started selling tarts too. Will try next time.
I tried Chocolate cake and it's just PERFECT!!! Love it!!! Highly recommended
But the cake is too big, even for 2 people... can't finish it all TT.TT
Hope that they will have small size for all flavours so we can taste them all xx
Extremely fluffy sponge cake but moist and not dry at the same time. Extremely hot and fluffy when it comes out if the oven and marked with a fair price.
Went past on this shop. First time i saw it and looks yummy. I wasnāt wrong. Love the cheese flavour. very soft and good flavour. Thinking to try other flavours next time.
The chocolate cake was lovely! Nice and soft texture. Tasted homemade- not too sweet and not too rich. No icing which is great for my taste too.
Tried their cheese flavour sponge cake today, was very good, a nice mixed of sweet and savoury, the cake was very eggy and fluffy, would like to try other flavours next time.
Like a dense sponge cake but with a more eggy taste. Similar but better than Uncle Tetsuās cheesecake which is too airy for me.
We got the original flavour, fresh out of the oven! So soft and amazing. We ate it immediately but alas it was too big so we ate it over a period of 3 days as a snack. It held up well in both taste and texture.
$15 is fair. The lady at the counter was lovely. She could probably tell how excited I was getting the cake. Kicking myself because I should have smuggled some home. Please bring these to Melbourne, Australia!
Located near the escalators at the Strand Arcade, it is in a fairly central location. You can see the cakes being made behind the glass walls as you come up to the counter. They have a few different flavours available and they are different prices, from the original at $15 to the Almond Cranberry at $25.
They come in boxes which are fairly big and quite tall. I tried both the original and the chocolate. The texture of the cake was quite nice, a very firm sponge. The chocolate had quite a nice flavour, although most of the chocolate was at the bottom of the cake. Quite a nice snack to share and isn't the most expensive cake to get.
Good services! Delicious cake! Coffee is my favorite! And I have try chocolate flavor as well, their cakes are not too sweet, soft and fluffy, good size!
YUM ! Like eating a cloud, I canāt wait to sneak back and get the chocolate cake. My family snuck piece after piece so I may need to get 2 when I come back ! So good ā¤ļø
Tried the chocolate flavoured one, it literally melts in your mouth!!! I ate too much hahahahaš itās better than the uncle Tetsu cheese cake for me

Taiwanese Castella dessert shop in CBD
Decent texture, good size, not too sweet not too bland, decent price.
Not much more positive things i can say about this, i believe it was a good dessert option or even good enough for breakfast or lunch.
I have tried original and cheese taste which are both soft and tasty! My friends and I both love them so much! This place is new open and waiting a long time to get it. But I think it's worth it.
We got both the classic flavour and the chocolate flavour.
The classic flavour is a light fluffy yellow sponge. It is a decent size and is quite worth the price. ($15)
The chocolate cake has chocolate chips near the base and this really is what makes it so special. This one is more expensive ($22) but is still on the cheap side for an asian bakery cake.
Canāt wait until their Pandan flavour comes out as well as the other choices. Will definitely be back for more.
Was really soft cake. I have tried in my country before but this one is more soft . Original one is like Egg! Can feel egg a lot . Chocolate was not that sweet so i could finish all of them haha
Tried the chizu cheese cake, the chocolate sponge (pictured) and the pandan sponge. The cheese cake was something different, small but worth a try. The sponge cakes were simple yet tasty.
I grew up having egg tarts for breakfast and snack and I must say the egg tarts (Portuguese custard style) from this place did not dissapoint. The combination of the egg, sugar and custard is near perfect and I am so happy to be having this as it is almost similar to what I would have in my hometown - only twice the size, a meal by itself! :D

Edit: The egg tart was ice and did come warm. The pandan cake had a really nice flavour to it.
Got the pandan cake and chizu cheesecake. Very fluffy, airy and spongy pandan cake, the flavour was really nice and you can actually taste the pandan flavour which is not overpowering at all. The bottom was a bit dry but still great. The cheesecake also very yum and got nice texture - perfect treat with coffee or tea!
Brought the Japanese cheese cake it was delicious, super creamy and light.
The staff was also very knowledgeable about their products I asked if I could bring the cake on a domestic flight and immediately he gave me a answer I was very satisfied. 100% would recommend
Egg tart is one of my favourites and I recommend every one of you come and try it.
Soft and crispy tart also with none of the egg smell interrupt your bite.
Can't find dressmart branch on Google. But It's all from the same cake shop. I'll just leave the review here, staffs are pretty nice and friendly, cake is soft and delicious, suits for every age group.my kids love this cake.
I super love their egg tarts and pandan cakeš¤¤
Really delicious š„°
My friend and I walked past having a very heated discussion about what to have for dessert, until we saw these babies being freshly made in the window and boom, our decision was made.
These come in all sorts of flavours like chocolate and green tea I think but we went for the original.
It was warm, light, fluffy and spongey and quite possibly the best quality lil sponge cake Iāve ever had omfg!! Bless bc they also dish out loyalty cards.
The original was only $15 and the other flavours cost $20 plus but the box is quite wide and tall; way better value than the ones you get at Uncle Tetsuās tbh š¤·āāļø
Good tasting and soft sponge cake! Looked a little dry on the edges but still tasted good! Cake is ideal to have with friends and family
Tried the cheese flavour. No too bad, just the skin was a little bit dry.
They do the best ever egg tarts here, not too sweet and perfect pastry. Will be back to try the sponge cakes!

Delightful experience along with a yummy taste of freshly made cakes!! Never had š¹š¼ Taiwan made cakes, but trust me..Loved it!
Especially the egg tarts and marble cakes are the best of all!! Do visit during roaming around Queen Street or Aotea Square!
Stunning cheesecakes. Great cuz m consult m consistency and flavor. I was also amazed by the quality and taste of the cheesecake biscuit. And one should not forget the egg tarts. They are too die for!
Seriously, if you're reading this review, give this place a try; you'll be amazed.
The best egg tart I would say š
Very tasty sponge cake. I feel the original sponge cake is reasonably priced and good value. Awesome gift idea. Highly recommended to try!
Newly opened bakery cake shop, so far I can see three favors, original, cheese and cholocate. But according to the boxing, there's more choices coming probably in the near future.
Quite famous cake from Taiwan, if you have time or just happens to be in town, would be good to try it out.
Price is higher than the shops in Taiwan, about 3 times more expensive, but hey, we're in NZ so everything is expected to be expensive.
Staffs are new so need sometime to improve, but smiling on their faces so not bad for a start.
OMGGGGGGGGGGG I freakin loveeeee their egg tarts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its soo deliciouss!!!! the best egg tarts in the world!!!!!!! You will not be disappointed!
