It's our go-to place when we are homesick. The food is simple and tasty and reminds us of the food that we are growing up. The Thali is a full meal for a great price. Must try the dosas. Ambience is great for a quick meal and the staff is very friendly.
Ethnic and authentic South Indian food. I would rate it Best in New Zealand. Waiting time is usually a bit longer, they must improve on time management.
The restaurant is quite small and simple but food is authentic and delicious! The only negative is that sometimes it is closed even when it says it should be open. The staff are very kind and courteous and the pricing is very reasonable. Good variety of breakfast and snacky items which are all very tasty especially the dosas, meals and bhajjis. The ambience could be better but its sufficient. Will definitely visit again!
Its really nice place to have good and cheap food and good service; but main thing is food. I think its best south indian food i ever ate in Auckland coz thay gives authentic taste.

Probably one of the best dosa (known as thosai if you’re Malaysian/Singaporean) I’ve ever had - crispy on the top, and doughy on the inside served with the best coconut chutney (thick and creamy) and with a side of homemade chicken curry.
If you’re craving for homemade dosa/thosai, this would probably be your best bet. This is your neighbourhood dine and dash kind of place - there’s only one person /sometimes two taking orders and serving food so don’t expect 5star service.
Great place to have some yummy south indian food that too at affordable prices. Opening hours fluctuate a lot. Apart from that all good. Needs to have special attention to the cleanliness for dine-ins. But food compensates everything.

One of the best south Indian restaurant in Auckland. I have always loved their idli, chutney, chapathi, mirchi bajji, masala dosa and upma. Service is not bad , but the place needs to be cleaned well. I am happy that I can get my hometown's food here :)

The chicken gravy and the non veg thali meals are really great. If the chicken gravy is given as a regular curry like other shops in a considerable price that would be better.
This is the best restaurants in Auckland to have the authentic south Indian food .I feel it hygienic ,healthy and not too spicy .The best to have here is pungululu ,mirchi baji ,karapodi Idly ,dosa .The non veg meals that is served here has guntur chicken.I would love to have more of that guntur chicken .Everything here is good in terms of taste ,hygienic but the delays in getting food and less seating are the major cons of this place .The number of people allocated to work is also not sufficient .That is the main reason I would not prefer to go here sometimes .
One of the best place in Auckland for authentic south Indian food, love their chilly bajji and Dosas .. authentic and cheap .. only negative part is the service, think they have to be a bit more organized in terms of taking the orders and serving the food. But it might be because it’s a family running business .well will recommend for a try if you’re a lover of south Indian food.....

Worth very penny you pay. Taste really gets you the south Indian feel. Especially the pickles, chutney and the karapudi on the idli, just made my day.

The restaurant looks quite old styled from outside and is small as well however the food that they serve is quite sumptuous . Never heard of egg dosa earlier but it came out very nice when served. Chicken curry is quite special and the price is nominal. My advise would be not to visit this place if you are looking for an overall experience like ambiance ,service ,price ,huge south indian food variety .

Fantastic South Indian food at a great price! Whenever I feel like healthy home-made comfort food this is my go to place. It's tiny and there's usually a wait for a table but definitely worth it.
Had the rava dosa and vada! Delicious and authentic South Indian feast!! The sambar and chutney was just perfection. Will definitely be coming back.

Now the bad and worse:
They need to stick to their opening hours. If you visit this place, there is only a 60-40 chance that it'll be open(during opening hours)
Their service time is awful. It literally takes more than 30 minutes to get served.
Attend phone calls. If we want to order in advance, there is a great probability that they won't pick up the call.

You have good food, but you need to learn how to run a business. All the best.
Very Tasty South Indian food with reasonable price. I prefer always going there for Tiffins and Snacks. They prepare fresh food everytime, everyday.
When I'm craving for home style food I visit Venky's. Of course it's not a fancy eatery but the food is spot on. Love their mirchi bajji and the vegetarian thali. Great South Indian food for a good price.
A great place hidden away in Sandringham, good authentic South Indian food but service need some work. Very reasonable price for those who want to eat more for less.
Hidden Gem. Amazing taste and flavours, good quality food and very authentic. Prices mind blowing cheap and excellent service with least words spoken. Decor and ambience below average but the place is very clean. We had the special non veg meal and days special chicken pulao. The pappu (lentils/daal) and chicken curry was very good. This place is the best restaurant for value for money as everything on the menu is $ 5-7 but no compromise on taste, portions and quality of food.
I love this place. Its tiny and the interior is nothing to look at. Service isnt too professional but is welcoming. But the food is excellent. I love their south Indian thalis and the chilli pakodas. Simple, no frills and satisfying. Oh, and its very inexpensive. Incredibly so. Anyway, its everything a small family eatery should be. Highly recommended.
ONE OF MY FAVOURITE INDIAN RESTAURANTS. Be warned - the decor is NOTHING to look at. In the winter there's a bit of a draft and it does get cold. Customer service is okay, just what you would expect from a tiny family style restaurant..... But the food is cheap and delicious and tastes perfectly homemade. The roti is the best I've had and the potato dosa is to die for. I can also recommend the vegetarian venkys special. If you're just looking for a quick bite to eat and don't really care where you sit or what the place looks like, this is the place to go to.
I really love their 8$ vegetarian combo meal a lot. Definitely give it a try when you visit next time. Very reasonable rates for tasty food. I am a frequent visitor here and was never disappointed.

Food is awesome and cannot be compared with any other south indian restaurants in Auckland. They serve original version of south Indian menus which is unique and which is best about this restaurant.
Good food, really good prices ! Perfect place for cheap and quick meal. I go there whenever I am in that area, never been disappointed with the taste.
If you're looking for good ambience though, this might not be the place for it.

Its a small outlet with few tables to dine in. Family run business I guess. Mainly South Indian dishes. Dosas, Vadai and idlis. For others few dishes like Chicken Pulao etc. One will have to wait before tables are cleared. We ordered chicken Pulao, masala vadai, medu vadai, rawa dosa n masala Chai. Very good homely cooked feeling. Ginger chutney was mouth watering. Very economical. Must try. Cheers
A little corner providing cheap eats. It's a steal and best for a quick Indian snack. The size of vada plate is really small probably can order two plates to feel content. The food is simple and healthy and that's the highlight.
Not the best ambience....but food is good. Love the food and the variety for such a small Resturant. It is newly opened so will give it a break on the ordering process. Staff are very welcoming. Hope they can keep the quality of food for my future trips.
First Visit to this small resturant, and we have to say it was an awesome meal. Wonderful hosts and tasty hearty south Indian meal. The chutney and chicken kurma was just yum!!! A must visit for a South Indian food lover.
Nice homely food. Didn't feel like I ate out. The portions were large and taste was also good. A little bit of attention to hygiene needs to be given as there was no handwash and no paper towels or hand drier. Decent place to take a break from the monotony of rich oily food.

We have ordered idli, masala vada, puri, veg meal, Guntur chicken curry with rice.
Food was really good and felt like eating in a typical south Indian place in India. The sambar was really flavourful and the ginger chutney was mouth watering.
The best thing was Guntur chicken curry after eating which, I felt like a home made fresh chicken curry with south indian masala and coconut flavour.
Overall, it was a very good place and would recommend this.
Today we are going to taste punugu and mysore bajji after several years and are expecting a good taste.
Price was really affordable and the food was worth it.

Mirchi Bhajji- this is made very differently in Andhra & Telangana, this one is more like Andhra, so a someone 'Straight-Otta-Hyderabad' must not comment by comparing.

This is a represent of South Indian food with full of flavors. If you like spices, this is the place to go. Great food and is cheap as hell! Me and my partner have been going to this place since 3 weeks on weekends.

This is authentic south indian.. especially andhra style food. I would say that the food tastes really good and cheap as well.
I would recommend to try andhra snacks mirchi bajji and punugulu. I got a feel of eating authentic andhra food.

A nice outlet opened recently in sandringham. I come from the southern part of India and I found this particular cuisine to be always on the higher side of my budget here in Auckland. Then I steeped into this place. The food was great matched the same typical style of preparation as back home the best part of it was that it was cheap as.... A plate of Idli or Vada for 3$ cant get cheaper than that. A dosa for approximately 5$ is a bargain. Its a bit low on the ambience but still a nice a little place that has come up. Surely will be going there again.

The combo meals are definitely the way to go - lots of food and variety for a small amount of money.

Mutton curry - this has to rank among one of the best mutton curry I’ve ever had
Dosa/idly/vada - all excellent. Bangalore masala dosa and Vada is usually our go to when undecided on the food
Chicken pulav - this beats most of the biryanis - another excellent item on the menu
I just loved it. We have been here for a number of times, and believe me, the food is sooooo delicious. We finished everything and can't upload pictures of empty plates.
Service is always dependent on what time you are coming here. The atmosphere is calm, clean, and relaxing.
If you want to eat food that tastes like home. I will highly recommend it for you. Even our little one could eat everything.

We ordered a Banglore masala Dosa which did not disappoint, it was accompanied with a refreshing coconut chutney, the most simple yet flavorful sambar and a flavor bomb of a pickle too.
The venky's non veg meal was the most bang for buck. Chicken curry, palak dal, rassam, curd, a chapati, papas, rice pickle and to top it all off a gulab jamun.
We also ordered a chicken fry which had just the right amount of spice and was super masaledar.

Great value, quality meal. Chose the Venkys Special Combo non vege $15. chicken thigh bone in curry was delicious. Filling! Nice range of side dishes. Would prefer slightly wider range in the"colour wheel" beyond yellow! eg spinach. Bright lighting, no- frills decor. Didn't feel like a fancy dining experience so it was fine. Enjoyed the Indian background music
One of kind Indian food you won't find in other Indian restaurants, typically made at home varieties, no nonsense plain home made food. Definitely worth trying.
