One of my favourite authentic Chinese Malay restaurants in NZ. The portions are always generous and packed with flavour. I keep coming back for their noodles - the chongqing Noodle is a must get. The restaurant isn’t big so it isn’t suited for big parties.
this review is SOLELY for their Sichuan-style Spicy (chilli) chicken. it is one of the BEST i ever tried in AKL. the only thing that stops me on giving them a full 5-stars is because they are mixing chicken meat and cartilage in this menu instead of full meat like in other places. but taste and portion wise, it wins me. it is a true SICHUAN style chilli chicken.
We had the fresh pepper fish with steamed rice and it was great. The price was slightly higher compared to other similar places but we think it was worth it.
We got the spicy soy fish which the waitress recommended. For these type of fish dishes which could serve up to 3 people, I reckon this one is a bit salty compared to some other places. The saltiness, spiciness, and the soy bean taste however, triggers you to eat more and more rice to reduce the strong tastes and thankfully, the vegetables in it weren’t soft - still has a little crunch in them. The fish itself had a crunchy texture on the sides and the meat is surprisingly quite soft considering it was already fried beforehand. The aroma of the corianders on top really helped freshened up the overall smell of the dish. If it was less salty, this dish would’ve been really really good.
Taste - 7.5/10
Size - 8/10
Price - 7/10
Service - 7/10
great place! the prices are different to the menu on Zomato(a bit highier but the portions are quite large). Highly recommend the spicy assorted! the staffs are very friendly too, would recommend to book because they get very busy. Instead of traditional chinese tea they offer a sweet herbal tea, super nice with spicy food! would come often!
After more than two years the food taste the same as before, food quality is the same as always, wide variety of food, generous portions, we recommend the fried fish with ginger was very nice (lately they seems to have reduced the amount of fish fillet and put more Taufo instead), Nasi goering Ayam was good, Sambal chicken was very nice, koew Teow and mee goreng were good, mushroom with veg Was nice, one thing was not so good and that is the Singaporean fried boodles ( vermicelli ) was nothing like the original one so I would not recommend it!
Malaysia Nasi Lemak curry and beef randang was kind ok but not that great!
Small restaurant. limited tables. Food is appetizing, good size to share for 2-3 person and quick service, it came few mins of waiting after we ordered. This place is more of Malaysian chinese food.. Good price too.
I've ordered takeaway a few times here before, I go for vegetarian noodles soup with black mushrooms and tofu. This is not on their menu but customized for me by the owner of the restaurant. He's very friendly indeed. I order here because the noodles soup is very different from other cuisines. They use different spices, unsure what spices they use but the taste of the noodle soup is very different from other noodles I had from other places and very tasty, so I keep coming back. I will definitely add pictures next time I order.
I would eat here pretty frequently in the past although now my budget is a bit tighter for going out to eat. I have to say of all the dishes I’ve tried here i have never once been disappointed. The female server is always welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere is simple and comfortable and the food is delicious. You can’t really go wrong no matter what you choose to eat here.
This is some of the best Asian food I’ve ever eaten. We LOVE it here.
Any of the mushroom dishes, butter prawns and mi goreng noodles is our go to. Don’t be put off if nobody’s here, I still don’t know why there’s not a queue down the street. Straight fire
Amazing Malaysian Chinese fusion restaurant. Great value for money too, their food is quite authentic and flavoursome! Highly recommend
We had the pork belly and veges with rice and we also had the dumplings. The food was absolutely beautiful, the service was amazing and the complimentary house tea was exceptional. The price was very affordable, we highly recommend stopping in here for a bite to eat. The guy at reception was super attentive. Thank you for everything.
Popped in for lunch. Shared a great chicken curry laksa and crispy sweet and sour pork. Really good food and well priced. Friendly and casual atmosphere. Just right.
Very delicious chinese food
This is a great little restaurant, we've been here a few times and it's never disappointed.
Every dish we have tried has impressed.
My partner and I had a full dinner with sides for only $30 it was very good food with prompt service. I especially liked the dumplings the serving size was enough that we both got plenty, the plate was full.
On another visit we had the whole fish with vegetables, this on its own was enough dinner for the both of us.
The environment is good, while the restaurant is popular we have never had a problem getting a table and we can take our time and have a good conversation over dinner without any pressure to move on quickly. It's a quiet place but the staff are very responsive when you need something.
We will certainly be back again
Great selection and friendly service at reasonable prices
This is a great 'no-nonsense' place to dine. It has a selection of Chinese and Malaysian dishes which are very reasonably priced for the amount of food on the platters. Upon arrival we've always been served with some type of traditional tea; either a rice wine, green or a liquorice (which of late we joked it was a COVID19 suppression blend as it was so rich and dark). Their spicy King Prawns are to die for and the steamed dumplings are yummy! Excellent attentive service, no alcohol (but hey - preload) and really good competitive pricing - (For three adults $80 and we waddled out of there!!) Thanks Linda ;-)

By far the best sichuan food I have ever tried and I've spent a lot of time in Hong Kong and China.
Hidden gem of a restaurant with great vegetarian options.
One of my favourite places to eat!
Not sure why it is malaysian restaurant. Its menu is 90% Sichuan and 10% Malaysian. Haha ok maybe not that much.
The food is pretty good. The signiture noodles is tasty, the beef was a bit tough due to the type of beef i think.
Char kuay teow was ok, like a chinese version as the flavour was more chinese like. Still nice.
Prices was very reasonable $14 for those dishes and serving size quite big
Also go stir fry lotus root and wood ear fungus.
The rest of the menu did look tasty, lots of sichuan fish and chicken dishes that are large so will be keen to go back with bigger group
Tried the basic Malaysian food: Nasi lemak (rice is nicely cooked) Yang chow fried rice and beef kway tiau. Loved it! Worth the money and portion.
