Great place, came with my family, everyone loved it.
Good quality food and great variety of Indian food. I enjoy having standard thali. Daily $7 special food attracts. The lassis are also great.
We went to get some jalebi but it was near sold out so tried barfi instead. Pistachio garnishing and hints of almond tasted very good; authentic and melt in mouth texture. I will definitely try more sweets as the range looked good in the cabinets.
I'm shocked by the low reviews of this place as I had a lovely experience dining there last night. I suspect that management has changed, as I heard bad things about the restaurant from someone who went about 7 months ago but I can see that the reviews have generally been very positive in the last 3 months.
The service was very friendly, the restaurant clean and the food fresh and delicious. I tried a standard thali, channa bhatura, cardamom tea and some sweets and everything was great! As a frequent Sandringham road diner I would say it rivals some of my favourite Indian restaurants in that district. Would definitely return.
Being there twice. Friendly staff. The food was really good. Tried paneer pakoda, samosa, gobi prantha and ginger tea. Would love to visit again

Been there thrice. Tried Samosa, Rasgulla, Cake Rusk, Balushahi, Jaleebi and Perha. Honestly speaking, the taste was really good. They are a bit pricey but I didnt find any problem with the taste or the Customer service.
This is good place to eat all vegetarian indian food . The food always tasty slightly different which i think is great the staff are very frindly and greet u with a smile and dahi puri was delicious...ππππ
Super varieties of sweets is always very attractive here. My each visit refresh my nostalgic taste and Good customer service also appreciated
Masala dosa was great on Valentines Day! And chilli mushroom was yumm!! Staff was polite and provided great service :) had a great time with my wife
Awesome place, superb ambience. My go to place for all the Indian delicacies especially the moong dal halwa. I truly enjoy being here. A must try. Strongly recommended!
What a tasty food specially the butter paneer. Cleanliness is also very good and staff was so polite. We will be back soon. Thank you team Xotic.

I don't u understand why there are so many hate comments. Come on people! Get a life.. anyway I love this place coz of their Food, service & great vibes!
Amazing food great service delicious π food ...I went with my whole family on Sunday last week ..I am very pleased π to see a place like this In Auckland which we definitely Needed.. I am living in Auckland from last 7 Years .. I have not tasted anything like XOTIC is having... The place is so Neat and Clean With excellent Customer Service... I really liked the place and Definitely I will only go to XOTIC in Future.... No where else π.....π
Great place great food..... taste is awesome.. service is good too.. would love to visit again nd again.. sometimes they choose a playlist which should not be played in a restaurant. aloo parantha is love..
Xotic! You are looking real pretty nowadays! The smaller shop is perfectly set out. It looks clean and inviting. The lady who served me was smiling as I walked in and was welcoming. Since my last visit a couple years ago, the whole place has had a well deserved makeover and the smaller shop is far FAR better than the huge shop that is now next door and in the middle of renovation and looks like a new establishment will take place once itβs all finished. I have to say the sweets looked delicious and inviting in the new glass cabinets. The way it is all put together is awesome and well done. I will definitely return, and wonβt hesitate to recommend to others. Thumbs up from the Maoridian (Maori-Indian)
Quite an elaborate menu. We like this place. Their samosas are really good. I love the rasgullas and rasmalai from their sweets section though all their sweets taste just like we get in india. Really good.
Good selection of Mithai at this place. What you'd usually expect to find.
We ordered the ras malai today which were rather delicious. At $3 for 2, it's pretty good.
The girl serving us last night was really lovely so I have to give this place a better rating on that :)
Updated : came today for some pav baji for only $5 on a Sunday it's a steal!
I don't get so much hate regarding this place. I find it very nice, the staff is not so welcoming, but all that can be ignored for the great variety of food and sweets. The taste is great compared to some of the well known "Indian" restaurants, and found it to be authentic. The presentation might be average, but the price for the food is very much justified. My favorite is the ras malai, pav bhaji, and any of thalis. The dosas are good and can do better.
I like exotic because you have various options here. They offer a wide range of vegetarian indian cuisine - breakfast, snaks, chat, sweets, lunch/dinner meals. Their food taste and quality is decent (nothing very great) but you will always find space here even on crowded weekends. Open till late so I go here even at 9:30 for just a bhelpuri or sweets. I have had lots here - parathas, dosa, chats, sweets, thalis. I like the options in thali's that you can choose 2/3/4 curries also like the samosa chat, rest is pretty average.
Walked in on a rainy day to have some chhole bhature, paratha, fresh lime soda and mango lassi. Excellent cholle bhature. However, wonder if there's any place in Auckland that sells the version of masala popular in Nathu sweets, or Karol Bagh in Delhi. No complaints about the paratha either. The fresh lime soda had crushed black pepper. That was surprisingly different from the traditional roasted jeera spice mix. Order took a tad bit longer than expected, considering the restaurant was nearly empty when we ordered. Overall, this was a second visit and a satisfying experience. Way to go!
Xotic is one of the best Indian eateries to go with friend and family.
Abundance of space with varieties of food, sweets and chats.
Recommend to have Paranthas (especially Gobi paratha).
Overall good with reasonable price.
I like the Xotic lady owner- shes very lovely to me whenever I come in, and thats right she does have a lovely smile. I agree she has had some VERY bad staff but I know she has dealt with the most part of that issue as I dont see these people anymore; shes a very nice lady and I wish her all the best. I know she works very hard and is 99% of the time working at the venue. I hope everyone who has had a bad experience gives them another chance...everybody makes mistakes and maybe it was just one of those days. vegetarian is cheap and cheerful and healthy! Try pau bhaji and some rasgulla to finish- that is my favourite and sure to please :-).
I went to their Mt Albert Branch last night. Lady Owner at the counter was charming and had a beutiful smile. service was great, she even gave me a sample of sweet before i made my purchase. Excellent!!!
Maybe you whingers are talking about another branch, I think there are several, but in my opinion the Mt Albert one at least is tops! A great vege thali or a masala dosa or channa batura for $7, a samosa chat for $5, great food at unbelievable prices. I wish they had kept the old stainless steel plates, the new yellow plastic ones are tacky. The staff are friendly and I've eaten there perhaps thirty times with no digestive ill-effects ever so obviously no hygiene issues either. Keep it up Xotic!
I suggest if you dont like the decor and the lady in charge, walk out and dont sit there and grumble. She has other customers to service and you have other joints to eat at.
We've been to the Mt Albert restaurant several times for the buffet at weekends and once for a normal meal. The food is fantastic. During the buffet the choice of curries is very good, along with sweets, fruit, rice and unlimited nann and paratha. I'm not a vegetarian but always look forward to eating here. On the downside, the bright yellow plates have a school canteen look about them and some of the staff do need to look a little more enthusiastic. But aside from those minor points, for price v. qualiity, this place is very good.
I've been eating vegetarian Indian food for almost 25 years, and coming to Xotic fortnightly for about six. I always found the uber-casual 'service', and blaring Bollywood videos somewhat refreshing - quaint, even. The decor may have undergone a radical transformation, but the food's as good as it's ever been, and inexpensive. Perhaps I am easily pleased, or it may be that I'm not burdened with the same bourgeois conceits as some of the other reviewers on this site. That said, I agree: it only takes one mediocre dining experience to create an irreversibly bad impression. Happily, that's not my experience of Xotic - for me, this place rocks.
This place has become excellent now!! we avoided it in the future due to the ambience, hygiene etc. But now, I would recommend this place to anyone who likes vegetarian Indian food.
In fact they have a special cuisine called"indian chinese",truly a blend of both tastes.
Although I had food here 11 years ago when I was a student in Auckland but I remember it.. I loved it at xotic sweets. keep up the good work and see u soon
Delicious Indian sweet- always come to this place for tasty authentic Indian treats ππΌ had a lovely time catching up with my friends here too. π―π
Great place to have an authentic Indian food.
I have been going to this place since I moved to Sandringham 2.5 years ago .
Friendly and hardworking owner ( lady )
I never had any issue with their service and food.
Welcoming staffs and management
You won't find the big portion delicious food for that price anywhere in Sandringham. For an example South Indian Dosaπ,Best dosa with best Chutney and Sambar.
Thanks Xotic π
Samosas were very very delicious.
Not so spicy and crunchy too.
