On a very rainy evening last week we decided to go for the 2 for 1 steak meal deal at Cranks (Tues & Thurs). We have been previously, but that was some years ago, and were keen to try them again. Being a sports bar with gaming parlour we did not have high expectations, but the service was practically non existence - we had to ask for a menu, then water, then utensils even. However the steaks were very good, and saved the evening. We chose the Scotch fillet, stir fried veges and chips ($24) - one steak blue with pepper sauce and the other medium-rare with mushroom sauce, and both steaks were perfectly cooked to order, tasty and generously sized. The mushroom sauce was particularly good. There was a generous serving of fries and stir-fried sesame beans to complement the steaks.
Overall the deal is excellent value for money, but there needs to be an improvement on the service side.

It's amazing how they have a 2-for-1 steak deal every Tuesday and Thursday! The staff were very friendly on the phone and in person when we arrived. The venue is also great and the fireplace keeps it warm and cosy.
We ordered the Cranks Steak with mushroom sauce and the Surf 'n Turf. Both were amazing and cooked just as the way we wanted. Will definitely be recommending it to friends and family! 😊

Great place for a private party. We had dinner before the party. The burger was good, the garlic cheese pizza was very yummy and the nachos was divine. The platters ordered for the party were great.

We have been here countless times and have enjoyed ourselfes thoroughly. Cranks has always been the 'go to' place for our group and we have held many parties here and enjoyed weekend sessions sinking a few cold beers.
I have dined here on several occasions and not been disappointed. The food was as you would expect for a bar and nothing to rave about on facebook but it was at a standard we were happy with and that we would order again.
Ive had steak each time, its always been cooked well and a decent size. Only downfall was that the chips normally get soggy from the juices that run from the steak. Perhaps if the fries went ontop of a slice of toasted baguette as this would stop them from getting soggy and the baguette would absorb the excess juices.
Overall, we have always been happy with this place whether its to host an event, have a beer (or many) and even have dinner, its a good spot.
The other people that we see frequent the bar have been tidy, respectful and look like working type people unlike many other bars where its like entering a mob hangout.
You wouldn't expect to see lousy bums hanging out at Cranks - being in albany they attract a pretty good demographic of customer.

Very friendly sports bar environment. They even opened early so a group of us could "book out" the big TV to watch the Black Sox final - and NZ won! The staff have a laugh with the customers and the food is pretty good for a bar - the creamy pasta was great, with a bit of an extra zing.
My family and I had a awesome T-Bone steak at Cranks with their secret yummy sauce that keeps you wanting more. An excellent offer on a Tuesday with the Buy 1 Get 1 Free deal. I can definitely recommend that you go and try Cranks steaks. If you are looking for great service and yummy food, you need look no further.

Today I visited Cranks with a partner in crime. The visit was preceded positively with a phone call to Dave the owner requesting a potential vegetarian option. He went through what was available and even offered to create a vegetarian pizza for us, very accommodating. We arrived to a warm greeting and he sat us down and waited us personally. We both ordered a coke, she got the aforementioned vego pizza, and I ordered the beef burger. Now I can be very picky with beef burgers, if you're going to give chips with it, give me a decent amount, if you're going to put beef in, put a decent amount, and please please have a suitable amount of sauce. Tick, tick, tick. Good work Dave. When it came to the pizza, if this was truly an impromptu job, then bravo. It was delicious, with mushrooms to mellow it followed by a kick from capsicum and jalapenos, and of course there were further ingredients to ask zing. The Cranks hospitality had even another opportunity to shine through when we requested perhaps sauce on our pizza. A small bowl of sauce was brought out to us to add as we pleased. Afterwards my stomach was bloated which is a feeling I always enjoy and a smile was on my face. Thanks Cranks.
Food was delicious, especially the dumplings. Relaxing quiet atmosphere nice decor/setting, toilets could be cleaner with an automatic fragrance spray.
Great vibe, food is delicious! Language can’t describe how good the dumplings are - we’ve finished them before taking the photo!
I love this place! I've tried a variety of there food, chicken, dumplings, fries, burgers etc... they even gave me lemon chicken through miss communication and I was blown away at how good it was because I'd never have ordered it! Now it's on the list! The service is also tops.

This is one of my favorite places to get a steak meal from. On Tuesdays and Thursdays they offer a 2 for 1 on their steak meals and it has never disappointed. I bring my kids here and they are happy to pull out their high chairs and cater to my kids even tho this place is basically a bar.
Their meal seating areas are comfortable and offers a huge fire area during cold winter days too.
For a pub great food. We had tiger prawns and the wedges. Perfect meal. Will revisit. They have Tokyo dry on tap. Will take rodamai next time.

Very friendly staff, open latish and popular for their gaming machines.
Need to work on having the additional entrance open for those who don't want to walk through crowds of people to get to the gaming.
Music has been off or intermittent when I have been there has a boring vibe without a bit of music.
Great place to chill, drink and play on the machines. If your hungry you and your kin can order food and keep warm with the fire the staff have on, nice place to be at.
Your grilled chicken burger with all of those amazing sauces and flavours ,
Oh and those amazing dumplings to go along side couldn't have wished for a better takeout ...
