Used to come here a lot back in uni days. happen to be around Grafton today so decided to pop in. quality still as good as before. a long queue around lunch time speak for itself. fresh raw salmon!
Amazingly clean, the owners care about each and every detail and the service is great. This is my absolutely favorite ramen (chicken). Sushi, Bento and skewers and udon noodles are also great. I work in the area and come a lot and was never disappointed.
GOOD:
One of the better ones when compared to the sushi shop around that area. Good selection, seasoned relatively well.
BAD:
If you get the older lady, great! If you got the older man ( I think he's the chef?), well, you're going to have a bad time. Not for sitting down and have a nice hot meal with friends.
VERDICT:
I think it's quite good for it's class. It's a sushi shop targeting people who works/study at the university/hospital. Good for a quick feed if you are around the area. Lady behind the counter is somewhat efficient and are quiet lovely. There is queue if you go at lunch hour during workdays. Should probably re-think your choice if you want to dine-in.
Would come back again if my wife wanted a sushi while she's in labour in the hospital.
I absolutely love their sushi! :) it's so different to sushi from chain stores. They always have lots of interesting varieties and I love trying new things so it's great. The lady who works there is super friendly as well. I also like how you can take your own ginger 😂 I looooove the ginger so it's awesome how I can help myself to it hehe my favourite sushi here is the teriyaki grilled salmon nigiri I think, it's honestly the best thing :) and their tofu pockets are super yummy as well

I work at the hospital and love to get out for lunch. Damo is one of my favourite local spots, definitely best sushi in Grafton. I love their hot menu, chicken katsu don and spicy chicken teriyaki don are my faves!! Staff are always so friendly and service is nice and quick
This is great if you're looking for affordable sushi in the area. They have a range of variety and quite generous portions. At the front, they often have boxes of five for $5, which are perfect for a light lunch.
In my box today, there were two deep fried pieces of makizushi, an avocado California roll, and two teriyaki meat makizushi.
The deep fried sushi were amazing. The larger piece had teriyaki pork and grilled tasting avocado and capsicum morsels rolled inside, and the mellow umami flavours mixed with the crunchiness of the deep fried outer was amazing. The smaller piece was a simpler pork and sushi rice that was beautifully accented by crunch and soy sauce.
The avocado California roll was a little meh, as the avocado was so raw it was very firm, and it was unravelling a little. It was good that it was wrapped in glad wrap to separate it from the wasabi, but a neighbouring piece was not. If they could separate the wasabi, I think that would be even better.
The other makizushi were pretty good: well sized, one was meat with a crunchy salad which was very refreshing, and the other a standard meat and avocado.
All in all, very good value for money if you're looking for a cheap sushi eat. Not the freshest if you go in after the lunch rush (post 1pm), but the variety and interesting combinations is always a welcome benefit.
I love this place! The teriyaki chicken udon is particularly good. Can be a little hard to get a seat sometimes. Their takeout sushi is really good and so is the takoyaki plus they are lovely people.
One of my favourite sushi place in Auckland. Owned and operated by a very friendly Japanese family. The sushi are freshly made, and their miso soup is very yummy. My favourite is Tuna Onigiri.
Friendly and quick services. Good fresh food.
I love the ramen here. Good price and fresh sushi with friendly service.
Good place to grab a quick lunch from work. Lots of ready to go boxes but the wait can be long during lunch hours if you order from the menu.
Dumpling Ramen lovely and spicy! Yum... Good variety for a little shop. Looking forward to eating my way through the menu.
Much better than St Pierre's around the corner. Huge range of beautiful (and tasty) sushi, plus a variety of hot noodle or rice meals too.
Had the teriyaki salmon bento box for lunch and let me tell you. I can't wait to get back there to try all the other food they are offering. That stuff was amazing.
Nice little place, but you know what they say. Small packaging pack a big punch. Value for money, especially they little lunch box table.
Good range...Its a good break from my usual diet. I probably spend too much on this but its an exciting part of my day. Better that St. Pierres.
The best sushi in all of Auckland. Spicy salmon don is a must try!
Great food and affordable price too. Favorite lunch place!
Consistently delicious and good value food. My favourite lunch spot

If you're a nutter for fresh fish, try the Spicy Salmon Don.
