You get a few addition to the normal Shanghainese dishes. But never the less, this a typical Shanghai style restaurant, with most of your typical dishes. Not bad at all. Zomato gold worked well.
Deep fried chicken actually was quite nice beyond my expectation, it's different to the normal La Zi Chicken, which has bones. This dish is more like salt pepper spicy chicken fillet, very tender. Steam buns are our family's favourite, the main reason of keeping come back to this restaurant.
I go here all the time. The owner/manager is amazing. Such a nice man. The food is delicious and there is always so much. I can not reiterate how much I love this place.

Late writing this but fabulous food, excellent service from really lovely staff. We have only tried the lemon chicken and sweet and sour pork so far. Both are worth walking over burning coals for!! Can’t wait to go back!!!
As a Shanghainese, I will say the dishes are quite original Shanghai taste once you know which ones are typically right ones to order. Shanghainese like crabs, river shrimps been done in a delicate way. I will recommend. Good job.

Had lunch today using zomato gold. We ordered 6 dishes - none of them disappointed. We especially enjoyed the braised large meatballs. 2x juicy meatballs served with rice - so flavourful and they were huge! Serving portion is generous and service was friendly too. Will definitely come back to try dinner!

Plagued by reminiscence and homesickness, tried this pan fried crab with rice cake and soybean. It was about a decade ago when last time Dad cooked it at home.
This is one signiture dish in Shanghai and region closeby. I cannot tell whether chef in Jing An executed it authentically enough, but it is divine to my pallet. Maybe it is a dish so close to heart.
The crab flesh itself is packed with flavour. For every bite, the delicacy of seafood is intertwined with good amount of seasoning, including sweetness, which all contributed to how succulent and flavourful the ricecake is. Soybean adds extra texture and serves as nice garnish on the plate.
We also ordered a braised mince ball with bai choy on rice from lunch menu. The size of meatball is just enormers!
My husbad works closeby and feedback from their colleagues in respect to Jing An is not unanimously positive. But these two dishes will not let you down. And suppose other traditional Shanghainess cuisine on menu would be on the safe side. :) Will definitely be back.
With zomato gold we had a pleasant dinner. The dishes are good potion and well cooked. We especially enjoyed the soup. Not 100% authentic Shanghai flavour but still a nice place to go when you miss home

First time dining out at this restaurant.
We booked a table for nine people and ordered 7 dishes and had to add an eight dish as we still felt hungry.
The serving size were reasonable for the prices they charge.
The waitress was very helpful and accommodating considering there was only two waitress on during that time. Food tasted alright but lacked presentation.

Very good and tasty food. Price is reasonable for the size of each dish. There is also a wide selection. Staff are friendly as well.

We were a table of 10, got 8 dishes and spent $87 bucks. Probably one of the best Shanghainese restaurants I've been to in Auckland. Flavours were not excessively sweet and everything had a clean wholesome taste to it. The spicy dishes had bite and the soups were delicious. The beef dish was so tender it reminded me of sizzling venison while the braised pork stole my heart.

Jing An is good place when you don't know where to eat. They serve authentic Shanghai food. The taste is kinda sweet which might not attractive for some ppl.

Spectacular Chinese Restaurant in Rosedale.
For the first time in my life I got to try Paua and shark’s fin soup.
Tastes very very rich and healthy.
Chicken in alcohol sauce was great. The sauce actually tasted like sweet alcohol dressing. Chicken was very soft too.
Duck was well cooked, neatly sliced and seasoned perfectly.
Best dish was the deep fried prawns.
Even the breadcrumbs were soo good i was eating them like cereal. Prawn shell was cooked perfectly, soft enough to eat the whole thing, yet it was juicy inside.
I love their roast duck coz it's fresh made. So every time when you want to eat the roast duck, call to booking two hours in advance before you go. Then yoi can enjoy the fresh made crispy skin roast duck. And the bifengtang prawns were pretty delicious too, service was nice and friendly. Will definitely come back for roast duck！
Super dilicious fried prawns with breadcrumbs! You can pretty much eat them whole!
You can also preorder the Peking duck (need to preorder 2 hours before arrival for them to prep)
The abalone shark fin soup is amazing too, I believe they use non endangered species so that’s a good sign. Something special and out of the ordinary.
Drunken chicken was very tasty too. The jelly fish was ok but could to with a bit more flavouring.
The dishes we had were all very enjoyable. Highly recommended, don’t think if it as a Shanghainese restaurant. Think of it as a Chinese restaurant eat the above dishes and have a good time.

Busy Shanghai restaurant that is always packed with people regardless of what time you come - it's definitely best to make a booking before going there to avoid disappointment! They have very fast service and the food that they serve are absolutely delicious and super authentic! I love the tofu noodle soup and the vegetable fried rice. The fish, tofu and duck dishes are all very tasty! I'd love to go back and try their more carby dishes such as the glutinous fried rice cake and siu mai :)

As for the food, they looked quite different from the pictures in the menu. So could be a
bit deceiving. Generally the food was tasty, not fantastic. Just simple dishes. A bit
disappointed with the pork dish. There were more vegetables than meat. The bun was
supposed to be eaten with the lamb dish.
The cold dish was quite good and the dessert was normal.
As for service, just as expected.

Would probably give 3.5 if I had the choice. No real problems but nothing to rave about either. The restaurant is clean with plenty of parking. The food is on the slightly salty side but might be based on the dishes we chose. Food came out pretty quick, though oddly the vegetables and beer came out last. The dishes aren't fancy and I do feel like they use vegetables to make them seem bigger then they are.
JingAn Shanghai Restaurant is a very resonablely priced family restaurant, offering both dishes and individual meals.
Their Yang Chow fried rice is quite easily the best fried rice I've had in awhile. The rice is packed with flavour and offers a generous portion of prawns and chinese sausage. Although this is one of their pricier fried rice, it's definitely worth every penny, 5/5.
The Fried rice with salted fish and diced chicken is however a little bland and flavourless, I would not recommend this, 3/5.

I was very surprised by my visit to this what appears to be family owned restaurant. It doesn't seem like it's much from the outside but the food inside is delicious and very affordable for the portions you get. The tables have a inbuilt rotating platform to replace the typical lazy susans used in Chinese restaurants, which is a nice touch.
My brother and I fell across JingAn Shanghai Restaurant by accident and we are super stoked we did! Beautiful clean and friendly atmosphere and the food tastes homemade like gran would cook! Highly recommend and look forward to returning. Cheers!
