my visit to the chancery bistro was excellent, the drinks and the sheesha (hookah) was great. I found that the atmosphere and the vibe nice and relaxing. I found that the staff was good especially during my time there the staff member Priscillah she was extremely helpful and attentive to not only my needs but to the customers around me, providing great customer service before we even thought we needed, my wife was especially happy when priscillah knew whether she needed an extra top off with her wine glass to keep her happy. If this is the example of what excellent service chancery provides I will be sure to spread he word and will definitely be back there again soon.

The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. We especially enjoyed the special bar drinks, the infused sex on the beach and the espresso martini was great. And the manager KD omg its like Mr. Perfect.Keep it up guys will be back soon.

Oyma served with a smile and grace as she placed this beautifully presented lamb shank and VSOP brandy in front of me for a lunch-time indulgence I rarely treat myself to. This did not disappoint as a rare treat worth having.
Oyma served me with such pride and joviality that it magnified the culinary experience from a level of pleasant enjoyment to a heightened platform of delight which bordered on the near-impossible when it came to being found beside mother's homemade cooking.
Having excellent food cooked with skill and presented with love made this experience one I shall not soon forget!

Everything was very good. From foods to hukka, and how they serve their product with courtesy was up the bar. Staffs were really friendly, fast at service, and helpful. Fully enjoyed the time in thist bistro.

I have been to Chancery bistro twice and both the time had an awesome experience. The manager and staff are great and knows how to provide excellent customer service. The Shisha is really smooth and better than any other Shisha place in Auckland.

- They have one of the nicest spot in Chancery Square but seems they take it for granted. The place looks a bit rundown although they put efforts on making the tables presentable.
Food was well presented but average in taste. We had duck and Caesar salad. Both duck and chicken of the Caesar salad was over cooked and dry. The price isn’t bad. NZ $60 for 2 people.

They need to put a payment system on the outside area so customers don’t have to go deep inside in the corner of their restaurant to pay.

I love the ambience of this place, its a good place to hang around. The food and portion exceeded my expectations! They do lunch/dinner specials for $20, which I think is a good chance to try out some of the menus. They seem to recently reconstruct the place, the bathroom wasnt very pleasant before, now it looks very new and modern. Wouldn’t hurt to try this place out :)

Some friends and I had a really great late night out here. Was pretty packed out but we were greeted by a guy and promised seating asap and service was quick and friendly. We didn’t really have much food besides a vegetarian 🍕 and fries, the shisha, drinks, ambiance and service was very very good. Enjoyed our lunch here today. The menu was varied and interesting and something for everyone. Great place to meet friends with a great ambience and relaxed yet smart location.
I like this place because it gives me a positive vibe. I have been here a couple times and I have tried the chicken pasta and the chicken burger. The pasta was alright but the chicken burger was really good. The portion is sufficient as well and the price was reasonable. The drinks menu here is a bit on the higher side and the drinks are good but not great. So I would suggest that you could visit this restaurant for a decent, sufficient meal and the ambience.
Two things made this experience worth writing about.
1. Aaron - great service, awesome follow up and all round great guy.
2. Chicken pasta - great portion and absolutely delicious.

Good ambience, reasonable prices and filling food. We had the market seafood (delicious creamy coconut sauce) and the scallop pasta (yummy and surprisingly filling, considering how hungry I was when we got here). Service was also good, with attentive staff who look after you from start to finish. The food took a while though.

I came here with my friend to use our GrabOne voucher. Despite the reviews on Zomato, we actually had a good service and the good came out quick. Mind you the Lions and All Blacks game was on and there was a crowd but it didn't tarnish our dining experience. The creme brûlée was wonderful and silky smooth tasting. We will surely come back!

Initially was browsing through the NIESH app and I found this so decided it was a good place to go to.
We ordered a cheeseboard , 2 pizzas and pasta. Everything but the cheeseboard was around 12 bucks each due to the NIESH deal (since it was discounted) and it was well worth the value.
The cheeseboard was more of an impulse buy and it tasted really good but we couldn't finish it since we were too full from the pizza/pasta :((
Customer service was ok and the ambience during lunch was average as well (seemed pretty empty).

Good food. I really liked their kumara Gnocchi! And I also recommend the pastrami pizza :D it's good. A little spicy for those who are sensitive to heat like me but hey, it still tastes good! Only downside was, I was a little put off by the lady that served me at the counter who for some reason didn't believe us when we had a voucher and seemed skeptical. . . The waiter was great though!
I enjoy coming here for brunch. I like dining outside under the chill city ambiance. Some staff are kind of slow and not the best at customer service but the food here is absolutely delicious - the price is also inexpensive. I love the Bombay pizza! Chancery overall has a pleasant atmosphere and it's nice to dine out there.
Recent visit 27/8/17 - the food over hear has improved so much since the last visit. I ordered the winter special chicken schnitzel and my friends got the green curry and Caesar salad. Huge portion and it was actually a much thicker piece of chicken than s schnitzel and great taste. The green curry was the highlight . Literally better than any green curry I've had at a Thai restaurant which a fresh green chilli flavour . Super impressed with the food.
Great staff and location. The carbonara I ordered wasn't very pleasant though. It was from the $15 menu and I didn't know it would be 30% pasta 70% cream sauce and slices of what looked like supermarket ham the actual sauce was super tasty, I just wish there was more pasta. The meat was gross it would be better to make it vegetarian or use chicken . My friends burger was okay . The fries are actually very good . With a bit of tweaking this place could really be great with their food . No doubt I will be back

Xmas work dinner at chancery bistro. Nice. relaxed and busy on our booked night. The attendants for the evening were friendly and did very well at catering for over 30 people. The food was amazing. Entree- raw fish in a cocktail glass. Mains- snapper on risotto. Dessert- chocolate cake. Had a great evening here

The quality and portioning of meals was good considering the price. Ordered the bruschetta which was a pleasant and flavoursome starter, the lamb shanks which was a tasty main (could have gone for another shank) and the crème brûlèe which was a nice end to the meal.
Overall, the staff were very accommodating and there was just the right amount of time between quality cost-effective courses in a pleasant setting.
The quick Lunch Menu offers decent, fresh and affordable food. The Chancery Square area is also a welcome getaway from the hustle and bustle of Queen Street or Britomart during lunch time. Good, simple and unassuming food and service.

The waitress gave lovely service. I enjoyed every course. The steak was cooked beautifully and the chocolate cake for dessert was rich and decadent.
Came here for August restaurant month and was pleasantly surprised with the meal. Entree was yum and My steak was tender and cooked well. Had a creme brûlée and was done perfect. Not too custardy and not too sweet. However could be quite pricy if not on a deal. Service was attentive and friendly though.

Such a great affordable meal here! We came on a grabone deal here for a three course dinner and were over the moon with how the whole night went. We were not treated any differently for having a voucher and the food was really delicious! Very generous serving sizes, great options, lovely flavours and really open to minor menu changes (things being subtracted that I'm allergic to). Really great spot in the central city.

I rung earlier in the day and made a booking with Paul and said I was bringing some important people through and was wanting a nice table, good food and service, as always dubious about using Grab One vouchers as I have read some places treat you differently and the meal portions are small etc....Well Paul did not disappoint me from the cocktails, drinks to the entree (squid was divine) main (Scotch Fillet Steak) and amazing Creme Brulee at the end absolutley every mouthful was amazing...So much so I have purchased another ticket to come back lol. You replaced the Lamb Shank with Scotch Fillet...well was the best piece of beef I have had in a very long time. Compliments to your amazing Chef. Once Again Thank you Chancery Bistro you guys ROCK!!!!
Went in for lunch on a very hot day, went actually because caravanserai was too packed. Not much in terms of lunch deals apart from a few $16 meals and $18 being the cheapest lunch meals.
I ordered prawn tacos, my friends the steak, tandoori chicken on bulgar wheat, and a lamb pizza. The prawn tacos were such a standout dish! super tasty and very filling. The pizza i did not try, but my friend did say the steak was quite overdone when asked for medium rare. The tandoori chicken was good but not a fan of the bulgar wheat underneath.
Service was good and attentive. Drinks were strong and decently sized.
Came here for coffee with friends. Great service from the staff who are very prompt and attentive. The soy latte was well made and probably one of a few places that actually know how to properly heat soy milk without burning it! Will be coming back here to try the food.
Wow! I met the real medium stake there. The meat was very textural. Satisfied with all three dishes. Warm-hearted service and lovely price.
The environment is amazing and beautiful. A very quiet place for serious or romantic talks. But the menu doesn't have much variety. They only offered one flavour of ice-cream. Vanilla. I think it is a place for eating and staying much, and not exactly short stays and a quick coffee. But I enjoyed it anyway. Will go there again to try the food.

We came here for dinner on Saturday night. When we arrived at 6:30pm the restaurant was empty but soon filled up. Service from the outset was incredible - our waiter was wonderful, very attentive and friendly. Best service we have ever had in a restaurant!
To drink we ordered a mango cosmopolitan (great) and a Heineken (great value). For starters we shared the turkish bead with dips and the salt and pepper squid. The turkish bread was cooked very well and served with olive oil and hummus which were nice, however it felt a little basic. The salt and pepper squid was great - first time trying this - and definitely something we will order again. For mains we ordered the scotch fillet and the snapper. The steak was cooked well (rare), tasty and had a really nice glaze to it (have had better steaks elsewhere though). The snapper was lovely too - a light but filling meal. The only disappointing thing was the tomato and capsicum salsa, which was meant to be served on the fish but for some reason was missing. For dessert we both ordered creme brulee which was also very nice.
Overall we really enjoyed our meal here. We could find no fault with the food or the service!

Had the $16 lunch special here today. There was about 6 choices,all looked pretty good. I went for the Lamb Tagine. The Chancery Bistro is split into 2 sections, a bar-island with a few tables around it in the middle of Chancery Square (this is where we were) and the main al-fresco dining area. Overall the dish was good and came out quite quickly for friday lunch service. The portion size was usual and the lamb in the meal was plentiful. Good stuff. With the Tagine, the flavour definitely was there. A nice, slightly fragrant lamb stew on rice. Only downside is $5 for a small glass of coke (not even a can full). That's outrageous. I'd usually expect $4 for one at the most. Quite annoying.
Ate here tonight with a friend and I can honestly say were faultless and one of the best meals I have ever had. We started with the chicken cordon bleu and the Mediterranean dips which were both devine, the main was the chicken bake which was stuffed chicken, gnocchi, and beans which again was amazing and the portion sizes were perfect! We then finished with the creme brulee and omg the best I have ever had! My friend and I have both made a deal that we wil be eating there atleast once a month. Bill came to a total of $120 including a rekordalig and a coke so I think money well spent.

Being the only customers at that time of the morning it was great. Also great was their creamy mushrooms and chorizo dish we decided for breakfast. Very tasty indeed and the generous portions also. This dish is served with roasted potato also which taste a bit old though...coffee was great that I ordered another and the service prompt and friendly.
UPDATE: Dinner service was fantastic. Most of our 11 dishes delicious. Wine and complimentary wine served cold and silver service styles. The establishment gifted us extra starters which was very kind and appreciated. Everyone who dined was impressed with the bistro, food - apart from the steak which hadn't been cut properly according to our steak eaters - dessert was devine. I had the creme brulee. For our evening lovely I've changes my rating.
Fantastic food! Came here with my girlfriend for a dinner on Sunday. Had great service, nice and warm in the cold weather. We've ordered two scotch fillet which were incredible, better than expected and steak was so juicy. Would definitely come back!😋

The place was buzzing with people and it was great to see the new lights installed in Chancery though I miss the fairy lights.
Our meals arrived as we finished each course on time and was made to our taste that we come for more to this place.

So I feel really bad giving this place a fairly low score as I suppose it's not really their fault. The food in this place overall was very good. The squid was cooked well, the steak slightly undercooked, I like my steak on the rare side anyway and would much prefer undercooked then overcooked. My partners chicken was a bit chewy or stringy but certainly tasty, If I'm being a perfectionist I could say slightly overcooked. The creme brûlée was absolutely perfect however and my partner and I had to fight for it. So food wise this place is about a 3.5 to 4. The service was excellent and we were fed three courses within 45 minutes, which is incredibly fast. The only thing that lets this place down is the next door bar which blasts house music so people in Wellington can hear it. It's so loud I couldn't even hear what my partner was saying across from me. If I was the owner of this place I would seriously consider taking legal action against the next door bar as the music is so loud it drives away other customers wanting to simply eat and talk. I would probably come back here again but I would probably check the bar next doors hours to make sure I was gone before base hunter gets blasted at war bleed volume.

Like many others we came here on a Grabone voucher. Have to say the whole experience was quite awkward. It was a Thursday night and upon calling for an appointment for the voucher we were told there were absolutely no free reservations and we'd have to wait until at least Sunday to get a table for 2. After saying we were after something that night and might cancel our voucher we were told the tables would be shuffled and we'd have a spot at 7pm. Funny part is when we arrived there was perhaps one other couple there, all the tables were empty!!!
The staff were incredibly awkward despite friendly and it was as if they didn't know how to talk to us?
Food was pretty good, nothing exceptional apart from the salt and pepper squid as a starter which was amazing and I didn't want it to end! Snapper was beautifully cooked although the salsa it was meant to come with was missing from the plate. Good food, awesome place, average service. Probably wouldn't go back because of the sheer amount of other places around and this one just lacks something special
Came for brunch on a rainy day. Chancery has always had a great atmosphere, and Bistro contribute well to it. The service was also very friendly. For food, I recommend what I had; the lunch recommendation - morrocan spicy grilled chicken (w/lentals, chickpeas, lemon, yoghurt sauce) and it was superb. Chicken grilled just right, seasoning went well the sauce. I would definitely come for any other meal, for any other circumstance whether it is for a special occassion or just a caual food-date with friends, this plave definitely recommended!

We have found this place a great family restaurant, great for service and excellent food. We had a set menu for 20 people and the choice was excellent. My favourite as always been snapper. It has been sometime that we managed to get back at Chancery. We were looking for Mecca and did not realise that it 's now called Chancery Bistro. As it was lunch time on Sunday the place was pretty busy for a Sunday. A waiter came to us and offered great outside sitting under umbrella. We ordered a glass of wine and now they have Heineken on tap which was a bonus. The place looked impressive with a new look bar in the centre of the courtyard. We found the food to be the same great tasting Mecca food that we always enjoyed. The service was also great and we would be back soon.

I was delighted when I spotted a Grab One voucher for this place which was for $59 for entrée, main and dessert for two. I thought, this is way too good to be true! And.... for a moment it was, because we couldn't find the place! It said on the Grab One voucher that it was on Vulcan Lane, which it wasn't. So that was a bit of a set-back. We soon found it... on Chancery Square! Fancy that. Anyway.... on to the review. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress who asked us to take a seat where ever we liked. She brought out the menus and I was a little disappointed as it was a bit different to the one on Grab One which I had fully studied and prepared for. The calamari wasn't an option for entrée but when we asked if we could have it there was no problem at all. The calamari was very good and the best I have had in a while. The fish I had for the main was amazing and had beautiful flavours. My companions steak was very good and came with various delights. The chocolate cake, which had replaced the "chocolate torte" (which I was really looking forward to) was average and the ice-cream tasted like it had been defrosted and then frozen again. My friend's crème brulee was probably the better choice. Overall, I was quite impressed with this place as it was fantastic value for money and the restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. However, I don't think these meals would be worth their standard prices and if it wasn't for the amazing deal, my rating would come down a notch. Nonetheless, it was a very enjoyable evening.

Place; quiet, like cul de sac, neat. The food, magnificent; lots if beautiful flavours, presentation perfect, and yes, the servings; truly generous. The service and team awesome! Highly recommend the place!
Great place for dinner as food was quite good! We had a voucher which made the prices more acceptable! Great place for sisha outdoors or eating inside, was a little cold while visiting and know that Friday and weekends are quite popping

Love this place always..never lets you down , love their sheesha, probably the only place in town where I would go for sheesha when compared to other places , this place is very good at night , with fully crowded , nice music to have some good drinks , sheesha n love their food too, their potato wedges / crispy fried chicken n their cocktails are one of my favorites, my friends loved their pizzas too, staff is too good, very friendly , we had a great party last night with 7 of our frns , thanks for the on the bar shots given to us..really love their hospitality ..finally a best place to hangout n chill with frns for the people who love sheesha the most
We had a really good time here lastnight! Staff, shisha and food were all great! Definitely recommend coming here for a chill night and to try the 1001 nights (sorry if I messed that name up) flavoured shisha.
lamb shank is delicious! The service is great! The price is reasonable. I would love to try more dishes with my family and friends next time :)
Fabulous evening when the 6 of us arrived on a summer Saturday evening out of the blue as we decided to leave ‘That’s Amore Pizzeria’ after discovering they charge like wounded bulls for glasses of wine. We enjoyed great food with great service at Chancery Bistro instead. We will definitely be back!
Oyma served with a smile and grace as she placed this beautifully presented lamb shank and VSOP brandy in front of me for a lunch-time indulgence I rarely treat myself to. This did not disappoint as a rare treat worth having.
Oyma served me with such pride and joviality that it magnified the culinary experience from a level of pleasant enjoyment to a heightened platform of delight which bordered on the near-impossible when it came to being found beside mother's homemade cooking.
Having excellent food cooked with skill and presented with love made this experience one I shall not soon forget!

Chancery bistro is an amazing place to visit with family or friends. The team and the vibe they set is on point. Shout out to Sagar, Revenge,Vinny, Aisha and Ha. Every visit is consistent that Bistro is almost our everyday hangout place!!
