There’s really nothing fancy about Xi’an but there’s a lot that’s special about it. You go there for the hand pulled noodle soup and it doesn’t matter which one you choose, it’ll be good. If you like authentic food that’s full of flavour and of amazing value, then this is the place. Xi’an is an institution that will outlast any fancy restaurant out there. Would I like a beer with my food, yea I would but also, I’m glad I don’t get to have one - healthier you know. My pork noodle soup was everything I wanted it to be, warming and perfectly seasoned, it was a simple dish so it was nice to add a little pickled garlic to it, that tastes like Chinese medicine and not garlic at all - super unique flavour, not spicy, not even garlicky. I always get pickled cucumber, every place does them differently and I love all of them, crunchy, fresh, spicy, saucy yum!

You might think this is a restaurant in Auckland. No. It's actually a portal to China. This is unapologetically Xi'an flavors straight from the streets of China. And just like China, it's a place to eat with very little service. But I'm cool with that. The restaurant is run by 3 women and they throw down the most delicious meal I've had so far this trip. The lamb noodle soup is just right. The cold noodle dish is great too. Wear loose and cool clothing because you will be sweating it maybe it was just me. I wish they had cold beer though... That would make it the best.

Truly love the hand pulled noodles. The first time I visited I got the cold noodles+burger combo, and was not at all disappointed! Both were delicious, tasted authentically Chinese, and the meat in the bun was so tender and perfectly cooked. Today I got the #37, which had perfectly chewy noodles, delicious, tender, braised pork, and an amazing sauce with a very decent portion for the price of $14. Would recommend to anyone looking for good Chinese food or a lovely comfort meal to take home.

Amazing noodles full of flavors for reasonable price. Go there for a nice full bowl of flavorful noodles with great chili oil and you will be giving 5 stars too.

Love the hand pulled noodles here - really flavoursome and just the right amount of spice! It can get busy and there aren't many seats inside, so just be aware of that if you intend to dine in or are with a big group. Service is fast and I haven't waited longer than 5-10 minutes to receive my food once ordered.

BEST hand pulled noodles in Auckland (Despite there being many shops around). Highly recommend the following dishes: -Hand pulled xian styled braised pork noodles. -Hand pulled cumin lamb noodles. -Hand pulled noodles with Spicy chilli oil and veges. -Cucumber salad with sauce. Generous portions for such a cheap price. I think this is the best value for money you could get around in the CBD. The staff dependent on the time can have limited English, but you can often communicate using the menu board with no issues. Overall one of my favourite places to dine in the CBD.

got the cumin lamb rou jia mo (肉夹馍). the bread (馍) is pretty authentic tasting. i did notice that both the bread and meat were taken out from a fridge or freezer and microwaved, and im unsure if they like further heated the meat in a pot or pan more. i did not like how fatty the lamb pieces were. every piece of lamb had a large chunk of fat on it which was not fun to eat, especially when it was microwaved. overall, i enjoyed the taste and would be interested in trying more dishes. the environment isn’t really good, the chairs are really old and stained.

How did I end up here when I was looking forward to going to Amano for our Friday date night, Haha 😂 My partner needed to do some work after our meal, so we need something quick. Standing near the ANZAC Ave traffic light, we noticed this little gem. It turns out to be a memorable night - the food was rustic and authentic & we both couldn’t stop talking about the thick hand pulled noodles afterwards. They are sooo fresh, chewy and silky - it’s out-of-this-world!! 👍👍Did you know you pay $4 extra you can add their delicious braised pork to any noodle - we did and it was simply amazing😋. There isn’t your Hip Group style immaculate service, but you really just need to place your order and wait for your food to arrive before stuffing your face with all the deliciousness, get your own water; plus the lady who works there is loveable too!! So in conclusion - if you are after some yummy Chinese food, you must try this place & you will love it ! 🎊🎊 If you are after some romantic ambience, this is unfortunately not the place...

Good portion, good flavour and solid value for CBD. I've been going to Panmure branch in the past, good that there is consistency. Only downside was a rather small amount of meat and sauce on large noodle bowl, seems like large only gives more noodle. Another sign of inflation I guess, if price can't go up, give less meat :P

I mean… just look at this yumminess!! The lamb soup is incredibly savoury without too much of the lamb funk. It’s been my staple comfort meal for years. Highly recommend

We ordered pulled pork with hand made noodle(number 37). I added extra meat (extra 5 nzd). 14 dollor noodle in the city with good portion, good taste. You wont find it anywhere. Just needed more seasoning. Big Recommend.

Sooo good. The hand pulled noodles with cumin lamb is sooo good, rich and meaty and full of flavour with the perfect amount of chew in the noodles. But, my favourite is the cucumber salad and chilli oil. A must to accompany the noodles , so fresh and zingy!!! Last but definitely not least the staff are AMAZING! I ordered UberEats and my salad and chilli oil were missing, driver would not admit fault, impossible to speak to anyone at UberEats, who gave me a refund but I wanted my cucumber salad! I allows Xi'an and they were so apologetic saying they were glad I called and the driver had left without half the order. They said it was their fault they were busy! So, their food is so good I got on the bus and went there. The cucumber salad was sitting on the counter ready for me and they refused to let me pay, even though I insisted. Xi'an is the best!!! UberEats 🤬.

Attentive staff, quick and easy order, fast service, incredibly chewy hand made noodles made to order with different flavors of topping. We had mince sauce topping hand made noodles, lamb soup with vermicelli. Huge portion, adorable, delicious. I recommend.

Went to the place first time to try typical Xi An cuisine. I ordered lamb soup with glass noodle and a stuffed lamb bao bun. The food was delicious and I enjoyed it. The place is very simple decorated and if you are looking for typical Xi An street food, this is the place to go. The restaurant is a chain and you can find the food bar all over Auckland and Hamilton. The staff were friendly and helpful.
