Absolutely stunning meal with fabulous service. We went for a retirement party and the team went above and beyond to really make it a special occasion. Food was exquisite, we cannot stop talking about the fry bread with goats cheese and mascarpone or the chocolate souffle!
I came here for a late (ish) dinner with a large group following an earlier function. Onslow is basically the only option in that part of town, which is the main reason I chose it, but I had high expectations. My expectations were definitely met, if not exceeded.
The food, wine, service and presentation were all exceptional. My main (fish) was one of the best meals I've had in recent memory. None of their courses (other than sides) are designed for sharing. I have no problem with that, but my one (very minor) complaint is that this wasn't clearly signalled, as it created a bit of a delay in figuring out what we were going to do and meant that we were a little bit too hungry by the time we got our food.
Overall it was a fabulous experience and I will definitely come back.
Just amazing fabulous experience from start to finish. The cocktails were amazing. The fried chicken with caviar is just mind blowing. And potatoes cooked three different ways just made my night.
Onslow - absolutely stunning. From the ambiance, to the service and the food; incredible dining experience. Thank you so much for the thoughtful touches for my 30th, and a special thank you to the knowledgeable staff on the menu (gluten free options) and the wine recommendations. The Lebanon red wine was exquisite. The best night spent here, and we will be back!
Expectations were sky high.
I usually expect nothing, and most of the time my expectations are met. But my first outing to Onslow was different. Like a Swifty getting tickets to Taylor I was off to my first “celebrity chef” restaurant, complete with the giggles and a skip in my step. Well, I would skip, if I could remember how. I follow the Instagram feed; also like a teenage groupie. I’d studied the menu in advance with diligence, regaled the Favourite Husband with my recommended choices, and I was not disappointed. From the moment we arrived and were met by a super friendly guy who showed us to our seats and my new best friend who took our coats, I knew I had found my happy place. The crayfish eclair was our first treat. How can anything so sublime have not passed my lips before now. That crayfish is something I’m left dreaming and fantasising about. The fried chicken with pickles and caviar was a delight, although I didn’t get the usual “pop” from the caviar. Probably because I was scoffing not savouring. My least favourite dish was the chicken liver parfait with smoky maple syrup, bit too sloppy and sweet for me. Like an over enthusiastic spaniel puppy. The dish of the day for both of us was the tuna carpaccio. Unfortunately I couldn’t get it to photograph well, mainly because I had high concerns that whilst I was faffing about trying to get the right shot, the Favourite Husband would be getting more than his one third share. My new bestie passed us out coats as we left and I had a lovely chuckle with them. Onslow, I love you. I’m saving up all the Favourite Husband’s pennies to return. Best. Night. Ever.
Service was outstanding and the food was great as well! The vibe was very intimate too! I highly recommend the Tuna Carpaccio, Duck Breast and Chocolate Souffle and thank you for the complimentary anniversary cake :)
Tucked into a corner of an elegant old building, inside Onslow exudes modern sophistication. The room is quiet enough for conversation. The service was attentive, and the food was both creative and delicious - not always true in combination. I started with one of several gin and tonic pairings - a great selection.
The crayfish eclair (one) lived up to its billing, a clever riff on a lobster roll. The salmon trolley sliced off three strips tableside with tasty accompaniments. Together they might make a light dinner. Instead of a main, I had the three sides - all good but better shared. The chocolate soufflé was excellent, and the hot buttered rum trolley was a sweet indulgence.
I ate too much, and the tab was quite high, but it was a memorable fine dining experience.
Overall great service and delicious food. The establishment feels upscale and luxurious, and provides a fine dining atmosphere even at lunch. Minor complaints: The “tuna carpaccio” was not carpaccio, more like medium rare and grey on the outside, but still tasted good. The “simple green salad” was truly rather simple, and I wouldn’t recommend it. Everything else was delicious and interesting and well presented. The starter “treats” especially are creative and delectable.
Loved our experience at Onslow this place was amazing my family loves going out to eat and this place could well be our new favourite, the food was excellent from the treats to dessert , flavours were amazing and well balanced nothing overpowering a lot of subtle surprises in the textures and flavours that you pick up in each dish, the service is warm and welcoming right from the door and through to when we left I love a staff that smiles and takes time to have a little fun whilst being sharpe and professional, timing of the dishes was perfect overall a perfect experience we’ll done team 👏🏽❤️ we will be back soon
Had a lovely dining experience here last Friday night with my good friend.
Service was great from start to finish. Shout out to Jach, our very friendly and knowledgeable waiter.
Food was yummy. My fave dish was the pumpkin entree dish. I loved the martini cart, my friend who isn't a huge gin fan was very impressed with his mezcal martini and I loved my dirty martini that was made using award winning Roots Gin.
Overall a fab dining experience. Thanks Onslow. ❤️
