We came to Java in a group of six people for our Christmas team lunch. The restaurant is nicely decorated with Indonesian/Java theme and we were served by friendly staff. The dishes were all very tasty and packed full of amazing spices that created the authentic Indonesian flavours. We all really enjoyed the food. This restaurant has a lot to offer - what more can you ask for? 👍
A heartfelt thank you A & Z and the team at Java you’ve exceeded our expectations in catering for our companies event. I'm already hearing amazing feedback from our guests. The exquisite dishes were prepared with meticulous care and served with such professionalism. The vibrant flavours of Indonesia were relished by everyone, and we savoured each delectable bite. Thank you for the exceptional service, food/presentation and overall effort that went in to cater for our companies event, we cannot be more grateful. We look forward to enjoying more of your outstanding hospitality and superb food in the future. Thank you once again. Ed.G
The BYO option was the selling point for me (corkage is $5.00 per bottle or six-pack) as well as the recommendation from my friend. It was a great first impression and I will certainly be going back to try the rest of the menu with my favourite bottle of wine of course. I did wonder whether cider is allowed so will ask this next time I'm there for sure. I ordered the fritter platter, nasi campur and for dessert: martabak manis. I enjoyed it all however, the oiliness of the fritter platter was a bit much. Not that the Indonesian pancake isn't light so if you're quite full from dinner maybe opt for the other dessert. I was fine as I love a pancake. I did like all the components of my main but not sure if I truly love tempe and tofu but that's just me as I'm not a huge tofu fan and it was my first time trying tempe. I think I'd try it again but maybe not in a sweet sauce. I wasn't too sure what the "greens" component was on my plate because it was just two slices of cucumber. Probably should've been a pile of cucumbers! Location is great, nice staff.
Went in for lunch and got the nasi royal, nasi campur with fried chicken and nasi kuninh with beef rendang. Was pleasantly surprised about how delicious everything was. All dishes were not only presented very nicely, they were all very flavourful. Customer service was very good and efficient.
Lovely place! Very generous portions, great flavours and it was interesting to try different type of food I've never had before. No alcohol wasn't an issue at all !
Why don’t I live here 🥲😩🥲
We were recommended to come here from a bartender in the area and it did NOT disappoint!! My husband and I shared a chicken dish and the fried fish and it was SO GOOD, especially the chicken!!! SO much flavor, a variety of little options with the main… UGH SO GOOD!!!!!!! Surprised this isn’t a 4.8 or 4.9, then again I know how petty some folks are. ;)
YUM! Thank you for the great service and help!!
Very big portion and friendly tentative service! A hidden gem in CBD. The rice is bit hard, but beautifully seasoned and presented.
Everything fits to street food style of Jakarta. Even dishes are plastic! 😂
I visited with some family friends from Indonesia and the food was all so good!! We ordered loads of food to share and try and it was all delicious, there were so many options available for vegetarian/vegan and gluten free too which was amazing
Mee goreng was flavour bomb! Taste is different from the usual Mee Goreng . Not a fan of the chicken nibble that came with it the Mee Goreng. Tofu curry was delicious. Would definitely come back to try other menu. Sambal condiment was spicy.
Really delicious. I got the duck penyet and rissoles as an appetizer and they were both so good.
Wow! Very authentic Indonesian food. Best in New Zealand. Truly delicious!!
Great value for money, we can't wait to come back. Multiple vegan options available, they were super flavourful. So happy 😊 Thank you It's Java!
Not bad but not great either. For the prices portions were fine. The mee goreng had a good char flavour to it but the kopi tubruk was too bitter even though it's supposed to have condensed milk in it.
The best spot in Auckland to taste authentic Indonesian dishes! They have everything from nasi campur Bali to bakso (meatball). We love the atmosphere as it's warm, inviting, and very cozy to hang out with friends. The food is wonderful, our favorite is Nasi Campur Bali and Nasi Ayam Betutu, the portion is generous. Also try the "Teh Kotak", a sweetened tea to complete the meals.
Very delicious Indonesia restaurant. Love the ayam and duck penyet. Will definitely go back
What we ordered:
Nasi Campur Bali $24
Mie Goreng iga $23
Es Soda Gembira $8
The food here is absolutely amazing. The Nasi Campur Bali had a bunch of different elements and was tangy and spicy and coconut-y and it was just delicious. The mie goreng iga was also amazing, it came with these pickled carrots that I would buy by the jar and I just love fried noodles. We also got the es Soda Gembira which was this really really sweet drink that we loved. It's very sweet and fizzy and I don't know how to describe the flavour other than being very unique. Honestly the food was a bit pricey but it was so delicious and different from other dishes I've had so it was definitely worth it
Loved it! Perfect place to dine if you wish to try authentic Indonesian food. The sambal nakal was too good 🔥
Felt like I'm in the backstreet somewhere in Indonesia. All the deep fried dishes were crispy and tasty. They don't have parking so we took Uber there but it was worth!
