It's great to find a place that the whole family loves. The food is always amazing. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Always welcoming everytime we go. I only marked atmosphere down slightly because its a large place and when you go earlier in the evening before it starts getting busy you can really feel how large the space is.
Incredible evening and meal last night! Everything was amazing and I can’t wait to book in again. Highly recommend Pisco Sour & Pinky Lady cocktails too. Venue is great for parties too.
Our evening started off a little tense. Inca was not our first choice of restaurant and as some of the people we were dining with are difficult eaters I was quite nervous as to how the evening would go down. The wait staff were amazing, they explained the menu and how we are supposed to order. The waiter enquired if anyone had an allergies, and recommended us some guacamole while we read the menu to make our meal choices.
All the food was absolutely delicious, the flavour combinations were great, the cooking was bang on, everything was tender and flavoursome. We finished off with the Grande dessert which included some absolutely delicious sorbet.
We really appreciated the waiter confirming which meal had honey (wife is allergic) in it as they came out of the kitchen.
Awesome dining experience, would absolutely recommend to all. Make sure you get the Salmon!!
Our evening here was absolutely fantastic, from start to finish. It was my childhood friend’s birthday so we decided to treat ourselves to a slightly more expensive restaurant, but I will say that it was worth every dollar.
The food itself was delicious, for one. We ordered the salmon ceviche, prawn taco, wood fired pumpkin, and eggplant dish. Interestingly, the cuisines served aren’t my personal favourites (just not my cup of tea), but I could tell that the menu had a lot of thought put into it, and to be honest I will definitely be returning to try the other menu items. The only downside of our experience was that we didn’t try more for fear of being too full!
But the real highlight of the night was the service. Never before have I felt so well-attended to; my glass of water was always full, the waiters were incredibly friendly and attentive, and they even clearly put thought into the order in which our food was brought out. The experience felt akin to being pampered, and honestly made the price tag worth it all.
Just stoked by my experience. Can’t wait to return and try more food! Thank you so much, team.
Lovely Peruvian & Japanese fusion, lots of travel memories of food from Peru with ceviche and more. We went for the "Feed me option" for $98 excluding drinks but it was a very good feed with plenty of food and the churros/banana ice cream was incredible. Pork ribs & Tempura Prawns stand outs for me. Enjoy the Guac too! Yum.
I went to Inca with my sister and mum last Friday and it was just perfection! Could not recommend Inca more. Lovely service, and was a treat to see the owner, Nic Watt, was there preparing and serving too.
All of the food was seriously delicious and beautifully presented, but oh my goodness the black cod was to die for. A must try if you're going to Inca! Will definitely be back. :)
Prior to learning about this place, I didn't realise that Japanese Peruvian fusion was a thing. If you haven't tried it, I'd suggest you do. This place was absolutely buzzing when we got there and for good reason. The food is seriously top notch and the service matched. Standouts were the corn fritters, empanada and short rib. The burrata was average and there are better ones in Auckland but overall, Inca is a solid stop on the Auckland food scene.
Outstanding food and service as always. Thank you to our server Naomi for her amazing service ❤️ the tuna tostada is a must have every time.
Heading in on New Year’s eve I had slightly lowered expectations after reading several negative reviews, but my experience was quite the opposite, despite being packed, I thought they absolutely nailed it. I ordered the market fish ceviche, bbq mushroom blue taco’s, and chicken karaage. All three dishes were cooked perfectly, full of flavour, and adequately portioned. The coconut and chili sauce in with the ceviche was to die for, crisp capsicum and some sort of rice crisp was present for texture, and fresh chili elevated the whole dish. The bbq oyster mushrooms were that every bit of sweet and savoury I was craving. And the chicken karaage was tender, crispy, sweet and had a sharp salty presence that made this dish so moreish. Dining for one, the young staff member who was working the door was so polite in offering me a choice of sitting at the kitchen counter or table, and helpful in deciding how much I should order and the sequence in which the dishes should come out, superb. I opted for sitting at the counter facing the chefs. They worked fast, but delicately, and efficiently in the heat, and were still polite enough to entertain me with the occasional smile/joke. Thanks for providing me a great new years eve experience, its one I'll remember.
Recommend :)
Took my partner there for her birthday on Wed night, along with another couple. Absolutely fantastic experience. We had probably 6 or 7 sharing plates or desserts. Cost was $374 in total, including a bottle of wine and a round of cocktails. Not bad! Every single dish was an exquisite taste bud tingling fusion of sweetness, savoury and spice. If this is Japanese-Peruvian fusion then count me in. The wait staff were awesome, particularly the way they explained how things work, mix up fresh guacamole at our table, and set a really lovely pace for all the dished and drinks coming out. I don't usually write reviews but feel compelled to do so after having such a wonderful night at Inca Ponsonby and hearing about the closure of the Newmarket restaurant the next day. I highly recommend Inca.
Wanna teleport to Peru from NZ?
Visit Inca!
When I tasted the food felt like I was back in Cuzco! The food was so authentic and delicious!
Must try:
Of Course Pisco Sour to start with then guacamole INCA style, BBQ Black cod and grande dessert (a tasting of INCA's dessert/ ice cream & sorbet/ fresh seasonal cut fruit)
Added to my favs of Auckland!
And on top of that Elie and Crew were amazing!
Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, good pacing of dishes, and plenty of GF and DF options.
For drinks, we had the yuzushu Japanese citrus umeshu with soda, and the ‘no-jito’, which we enjoyed.
For food, we had the Chef’s selection sashimi, market fish nigiri, ‘rio’ salmon ceviche, bbq oyster mushrooms blue corn taco, and spicy tuna tostada.
Everything was fresh, and beautifully presented. The standouts were the sashimi - ‘twas *chefs kiss*, and the tacos - sweet, smoky, tangy, would recommend.
So so good, everything was perfect, staff were lovely. Chefs were amazing. We tried the Tuna Tostada, Soft Shell Crab Roll, Chicken Karaage, Black Cod, Eggplant and Churro Buns.
From the moment the maitre d' greeted us we knew this was one of the better restaurants we have visited, beautiful food at a very reasonable price.
We asked the maitre d' to surprise us and did they deliver.
The food came out over the course of 40 minutes or so and there was always some turning up as you finished off the previous delight.
Atmosphere was vibrant and we were able to talk to the owner and express how happy we were with everything.
Enjoyed lunch on a wet Saturday. Ceviche, guacamole, and sushi were among the best we have had anywhere. Absolutely fantastic! Empanada and spicy tuna roll were not as on point for us, and we wouldn't do those again. Staff were uniformly pleasant and cheerful, but we kept having to ask for water refills, and with only one other couple in the restaurant, a bit more pro-activity would have been welcome. Prices are on the high side, as others have commented, but for the right dishes, well worth it!
Excellent meal, great service.
Will definitely dine again when next in Auckland and would recommend to anyone looking for a great meal.
