Finding a table at an Oneroa cafe during the summer holidays can be quite the challenge. The seaview dining strip is prime real estate, and often characterised by full tables and long queues. To skirt this problem, we visited Too Fat Buns for a spot of lunch, as it's tucked away from the main road. It's got a fun vibe, but there's not much of a dining area so I would definitely recommend that you take away your order. In terms of the grub, the burgers are fairly solid, if somewhat pricey for what you get. I added blue cheese to my vege burger and it was a welcome addition. The aioli that comes with the chips is punchy, just as an aioli should be, and the shake a brain freezingly good whack of thick chocolatey goodness. Come for comfort food, leave with a full belly.
Quality beef patties. Always hits the spot. The aoli and chips never disappoints

Too Fat Buns. For starters love the name. I indulged myself into what was called the "man bun." Although it was quite tasty I still think the burger was a bit overpriced. The burger was cooked well but it was not as satisfying as I was hoping after a long day of drinking wines around Waiheke island. Would go here again and give this place a second try though!
Ordered the chicken/bacon burger, fish burger and fries. All I can say is these are the BEST burgers I have had in New Zealand! They take their time to make these gorgeous gourmet beauties (15-20 mins) so be patient & it will definitely pay off :-)
Good burger place on waiheke island. Has a fresh urban feel to it, but many seats inside so be prepared to take away.....but hey is waiheke who wants to be inside anyway. We had the venison and a fish burger. The burgers were juicy and tasty without the filling and sauces being too wet and sloppy. Both burgers were freshly made with fresh ingredients and buns. The place is a bit hidden down a row of shops but if burgers are your thing then it's worth finding this place.
Awesome burgers! I love how fresh everything looked and tasted. It will take 10-15 minutes before you get a hand of your order, but it’s definitely worth the wait. Cute place with friendly staff!
Great food. I order the small burger and a side of fries, and I'm always very full.Always greeted with smiles, and everything tastes fresh. I usually order through their phoning option, and they're very prompt at completing my order. Hot Chicky Bun is my favourite.
I ordered the vegan burger and fries from here and found them to be absolutely delish and good price for the size. Staff were super friendly too
Chicken burger was good, beef burger was under cooked and raw in middle. Chicken wings were under cooked, had feathers still on, were a bit slimy instead of crispy and sauce was average. Overall okay, but would only go back in a bind.
Visited TFB yesterday for a quick lunch while visiting Waiheke island. This one is a no frills eatery serving phenomenal burgers and fries. Very close to the post office at Oneroa, behind the ASB office. A whiff of grilled meat is the right direction. Menu is small, simple and somewhat easy one the pocket. Being an island, that too 'tourist-y', do expect to pay a bit more than the city prices. We ordered the Beefy and Chicken bacon bun (reg. size) and hot fries to go. Size of the burgers was just the right size, fries were nice and crispy; thumbs up for adding ketchup although I wish we'd asked for paper napkins. Both burger buns were soft, patties were juicy, bacon was crispy (on chicken bun) and loved their aioli. I wish there was some hot sauce for my beefy bun. Overall, totally worth a visit. Coming back for sure.
We visited yesterday, great friendly service, delicious burger! Highly recommend. I had the spicy chix burger! Yum! With certainly be visiting again. :)
The burgers at Two Fat Buns are amazing and really good value - in fact dangerously so. Probably the best burger I've had in NZ. The staff are always super friendly and helpful too.
Really cool little burger joint in oneroa, and burgers are huge and delicious. I got the Portobello mushroom burger with some chips, the mushrooms were marinated and outrageously good.
Definitely recommend Too Fat Buns :)
Great little bar, hip packaging. My husband had the beef burger and loved it, best burger he's had in a long time. I had the spicy chicken, the spiciness was good but I've got to say the jalapeno relish just absolutely ruined it! It was so hot, my mouth was burning for ages afterwards and it wasn't like a piece you could pull out of the burger. Please warn people about it as I thought spicy ,not chilli hot
Great chips. Taste exactly like burger fuel chips. Good portion of aioli. Burger were excellent - I had the man bun & my wife had the chicken & bacon. The Cajun chicken was had a good kick of spice. Highly recommend.
Such a cool little takeaway bar! My favourite burger is the Chicken, Brie and Bacon Burger and the chips are soooo good! I've also had the vege burger and it's amazing! Will definitely be back!!
The food was incredible. Flawless. Felt like the first burger Id ever eaten every bite. The people were so nice. They let me charge my phone there and I saw them bringing in fresh ingredients midday which severely bolstered my confidence in the food.
Delicious vegan burger. A lot of places over complicate or think vegans are like rabbits. Nope. Especially me I eat heaps😆 This burger ticked many boxes. Hearty, wholesome and tasty. Possibly the heaviest burger I've handled. A meal in itself. Fresh lettuce! Good people too. Thanks team!
Yummm - I had the special burger and fries, both delish and really lovely service - thanks !
Tucked into a shopping complex, this small, little burger joint was phenomenal! Very quick service and really great flavors from the sauces they had. Definitely seems family/locally own so I was happy to support them during our World Cup trip un New Zealand!
Delish food and friendly service. This is an unmistakable go-to for burgers+fries+shake. It can get busy (eg 1 hour wait during peak times), so try to plan accordingly / simply call ahead to check. My group enjoyed everything from the veggie to beef to chicken burgers. Will happily return.
Best quality burgers I've ever had. Seriously! Instagram ready whenever you open them up. So fresh and well made. Always try to stop off on the past Oneroa on the bus whenever we come over. A must do whenever you are on the island!
Cost a bit more but worth it.
The best burger I've had in a long time. Good amount of fries.
We will be back.
I am so stocked by the size of these burgers. We had a vegetarian one and a vegan one and it was SOOOO delicious! We had to wait 35min to enjoy them but it freaking worth it. Friendly staff, the place is is a hidden gem on the island! Worth the exeprience🤤
Best burger I've ever had. No exaggeration. Exactly how you want a burger to taste, but so so fresh! Also the gluten free bun is amazing! You would never know it was gluten free. Just like a real one. Fluffy and delicious. Also the chips actually taste like potato and don't seem.over fried or greasy. Truly amazing.
This tiny establishment produces really good to-go food!
Beef burger patties are done medium, and really tasty, with a good balance of lettuce, cheese and sauce. Even the small burgers were solid meals in themselves.
Also tried the spicy chicken burger which was indeed spicy, and also tender and juicy.
The hot and spicy wings were also fabulous.
Last of all, all of it was really affordable at NZ$12 for a regular burger, and NZ$8 for a small one.
