Called in here on a recommendation from Mary Clare Bartlett on Friday 26 Jan 2018, we were meant to meet for a coffee but MC was called away. So was a sinking hot day so no coffee but had lunch here & had one of there 'Happy Smoke Fish Pie Day' specials. Yummy yummy yummy. Staff were very pleasant & has outdoor seating & clean facilities.
The name says it all. It's in a car park. Heaps of parking. Mussel fritters are to die for and I usually stop for Sammie a for lunch or a bacon butty.
Local Waiheke people love the Car Park Cafe. We don't want visitors reviewing our best cafe. We love the staff and if you really need wifi we suggest you stay at home.
The Car Park has a real kiwi feel with the wall art and rustic wooden tables and oversized design.
The staff are friendly and fast.
I ordered their in-store made sausage roll and iced mocha. The sausage roll was tasty. With a big meaty roll with chunks of carrot and onion an golden flaky pastry. It was moist but too salty, even when I dunked it in tomato sauce. The iced mocha was more like a watered down version from what I'm used to. The mocha was strong but had no creamy taste. I was expecting more since a cup was a hefty $7.50. The quality of the drinks let them down for me, as they're overpriced for what is offered.
And oddly enough when I asked for the WiFi they said that its only available for the upstairs customers, I have no clue what that means.
Their food is good, but the drinks and service was lacking for me. Next time takeaway would seem like the best option.
As visitors to the island we went to the Ostend Market and spoke to some locals and they recommended this café opposite Countdown supermarket.
Always trust the locals, they have the knowledge! Great food, excellent service. They have a fantastic selection of fresh food in the display cabinet as well as a tasty blackboard menu with lunch specials. The pies, deli rolls and soup was very well received and the steak sandwich is very nice!
The staff were warm and friendly and the service was quick and the place was clean with modern décor.
The newbie on the island, tucked in by Placemakers.
Well priced yummy "comfort" food !!
Something to please everyone from seafood chowder to the best pies on the island.
Check out the apple shortcake !! Well actually check out everything, great to have somewhere the locals can go and not be ripped off.
Thanks To Jen and her friendly staff.
Wonderful.
My daily breakfast combo fix! Just love it at Carpark cafe! If your just wanting a cold drink and pie this is your place to go! Or even a beautiful Thai chicken curry!!! Oh man I could share the whole menu I love it all!! Thanks jenny and team ❤️😍 highly recommended visiting if you haven’t!
Most lunch times whilst pondering of what to partake I find myself wending my way by default to this cafe. The steak and cheese pies are actually some of the best I've ever had; crusty pastry, rich gravy and tender meat, never an unwelcome morsel of gristle, unlike many of the alternatives.
Once, breaking away from tradition, I chose a bacon sandwich, mostly due to the permeating aroma of previously cooked bacon. This delightful treat did not disappoint; it was full back bacon, well middle bacon as back bacon is rare in this country, no rind nor fat, perfect. They even offered a choice of red or HP sauce, such a welcome variety as red sauce (tomato) is prevalent in NZ, so being British I obviously opted for the HP. Although far better than red sauce I'm not sure that this was actually HP, maybe HP fruity sauce, for it was rather sweeter than the ones in my larder.
On Fridays they offer a fish pie, most notable for causing long queues and traffic jams and by selling out by noon; such is their popularity.
Definitely my place for luncheon.
We enjoyed our lunch having come all the way from port waikato. Thank you

Best present on Waiheke Island. Can't bet Jens pies
Busy weekday cafe. Lovely food, efficient staff with excellent streamlined practices. Can't go past their soup selections.
Nice and cozy lil café - lots of things to buy pre-made (pies, sandwiches, and even lasagna) as well as made to order food. All around a great selection for a quick bite and coffee - or a sit down with friends for a full on meal that will have you busting at the seams.
Had Jenny's smoked fish pie really yummy, o ly on Fridays, good coffee ,and excellent service,my shortbread was lovely, she has other smazi g homemade pies as well
