We live dangerously too close to this place, i got the beef bruger with cheese and some fries on the side. The bun is a soft brioche bun with delicious beef meat, a very yummy mayo and pickled sauce, and something fresh greens between them. The fries were crispy and the sauce it came with was deliciously addicting. I enjoy this place and have to hold my self back. I could easily eat 2 burgers myself, I would also recommend the chicken burger if you get a chance ! Can't wait for the next cheat meal.
A neat little setup in Smales Farm among other quality eateries, Shake Out's frictionless technology is user-friendly and extremely efficient. Everything on the menu here is insta-worthy. The shakes are something special & the double cheeseburger, a classic..housed in a sweet brioche bun is equally as tasty as it is appeasing to gawk at but....for $12 it feels a bit light in the hand, and for a brand operating under the BurgerFuel franchise you'd expect the sizes to somewhat reflect that but nonetheless, the food is definitely something to write home about.
I ordered Vege burger , it tasted was fantastic. The burger size was smaller than normal burger but the price also cheap , so it was worthy to buy.
Great tasting cheese burger!
Very tasty burgers and chill environment but the size of the burgers are quite small. If you drop $20 for a combo you'll prob be aite though
Everything is simple here, from their menu to the self-ordering system and cashless service. Their menu consists of four burgers, fries and shakes. The only negative is that they are quite small, one burger definitely won't full you up, but they are damngood. Soft brioche buns made from a blend of potato and pumpkin flour, juicy patties, and a minimalist atmosphere.

Best burger in Auckland. Closest thing to In N Out in NZ!
Double beef and cheese is the best. The sauce is the best. The cheese fries are the best. Shake out is the best.

Love the simple menu and the self serve sauces. Beef patty was juicy but brioche buns were the highlight.
Would definitely go again.
Atmosphere waa good, staff were friendly. Loved ordering from the tablets too.
Tried for the 1st time to use a voucher up. Really really nice cheese burger. And a very good shake. Good healthy portion sizes ! Smart. Fries are fries. But also very good. Kind of pricey but the quality is tops. Simple minimal menu - smart again. Friendly helpful staff member explained the tablet ordering system - very easy. At the well known international Mc Burger franchise I always avoid the self order machine & order off a staff member as I feel I'm doing the job of the staff. I like to just say my order - they do the work - not me. No cash... interesting. Smart from a business perspective. But a lot of people still use it. What if my 74 year old father in law with Parkinsons shuffled in there with his $20.00 he grabbed out the car ? Then he realises he needs to go back out to his car to get his card to pay ? Maybe it would all seem a bit hard & he would just drive off. (Hypothetical scenario - but he's real) I'm sure the analysts factored in the probability of this type of scenario - & deduced they can afford to lose the odd sale because some old timer only had cash. I can see when its busy that very minimal interaction between staff & customers is required for a sale. You tap in your order - you take your number disc - you go pick up your food. Mine will always be takeout - the venue is clean & tidy but lacks any shred of atmosphere. Human interaction is under rated - ' but the ordering system is 'the way of the future' according to the staff member. Certainly a slick business model & probably here to stay. I'm all for change but if this is the future, I don't like it. But I did love the burger, so will probably be back.
Cutest little burger joint 📍Shake Out serves tasty delicate burgers at the touch of a screen! We got: Double Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger, Cheese Fries, Lime & Pistachio Milkshake and Berry Sundae. -
-
Juicy 100% beef patties in housemade fluffy Kumara-flour buns, paired with fresh greens and melted cheese! The only flaws are that it can fall a bit dry as there’s not much sauce; and that their burgers are more petite.
However the Fries were insanely crispy without being greasy; and the Milkshake and Sundae were creamy and not too sweet.
Brownie points for their 100% recycled packaging!
Have I mentioned before New Zealand burgers are the best in the world? I may be wrong but trying burgers in 34 different countries does mean something. From gourmet and fast food varieties, even the cheapo ones I gave them all a shot, while I haven’t tried the burgers from the remaining 161 countries at least I tried the countries that I know can make good burgers which includes most European countries, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and America.
Really yummy cheese fried and milkshake. The price is quite high but I think that’s what you pay for good quality. I haven’t tried burger but from the look of it they are pretty small. Easy to order with machine and all self service system is pretty good.
Probably the best (fast food or maybe any type of) burger I’ve had in Auckland. Not greasy and the brioche bun was really good! Fries were yummy too (just a bit too much salt on mine I think). Will definitely be back!! I wish they’ll branch out in the city though xx
Yum yum yum.
Love these burgers, and the fries with cheese sauce - I have no words for how great this is!
I would usually get the cheeseburger but this time I tried the vegetarian option and the patty could have been a bit crispier as was mushy after the first initial bites.
No doubt I will be back soon to this place as it is so convenient, their order system is so quick.
Highly recommend!
Made the trek out over the shore for this bad boy. Worth it. Went for a double cheeseburger, fries and the sparkling lemonade. Perfect order. Definitely going to try the cheese fries and shakes next time.
Shake out is definitely one of the best fast food burger joints out there! They’re cashless (so you can pay with card or with your phone or watch) and it’s SO convenient!
I got the loaded fries and it was sooo good! I literally wanted to drink the sauce (which comes in the cutest little takeaway coffee cup. (Wish it was all paper though cause the caps are a lot of rubbish - although can be recycled)
I definitely want to come back and try more of their menu!
Honestly best burgers in Auckland. Been here a few times and can't fault them. The softest, fluffiest buns, high quality patty and delicious sauce. The cheese fries are amazing! I think about them daily. Can't wait for the Browns bay location to open!
Their fries are absolutely bomb, but their sauces need a bit of work. I tried the chicken burger which was great, although after a few bites all I could taste was the chicken since the ratio was a bit off (this is not a complaint, more so a comment). The buns were so soft and smelled amazing. The shakes were super thick and not overly sweet which I rate. The staff were super friendly and hard working (you can literally see everything they’re doing since it’s a bit of an open kitchen situation). 10/10 would recommend people try this place out if they’re in the area.
(Even if you’ve already eaten food just go and get a shake from them, I cannot stress how good they are.)
Shake Out is the damn best burger joint! Been here so many times and every time I go I swear it get's better, the burgers are just too damn good makes me go crazy ahhhh go stooopid ahhhh. I've tried the chicken burger which costs $9.50 and I've tried the cheese burger which costs $8.50 and they're both delish. The burgers are a perfect size for me because usually burgers are too big for this little chicka. Love this place it's bloody legendary can't hype this place up enough. Been back many times after I've written this review and every time they've pulled through and have been delish! I actually got a dm from them the other day and they actually gave me a code to get discount on my food when I go so i was very excited and overwhelmed by that , so kind this place keeps getting better and better!! x
Great cashless concept store, plenty of parking nearby and really enjoyed the chicken burger and fries I ordered. the burger bun is very fresh not dried and the burger was nicely seasoned.
Best burgers i’ve ever tasted, usually i’m not the type to ask for burgers but shake out by far has the best i’ve ever tasted ! My drink was so delicious as well came here with my best friend and both were very impressed :).
A burger ain’t just a burger. Once upon a time it was a homemade mix of mince, sausage meat, onion, herbs, spices and whatever else the corner shop wanted to throw in for flavour. Lettuce was crisp and beetroot was a staple. Times have changed and so have what we want from a burger. Cheese is the hero with pickles as the sidekick. Sauce features somewhere and buns just ain’t a bun but a platform to showcase the masterpiece.
Shakeout gets it.
We are smart enough to push buttons (from the force slaved lines we’ve been pushed through at maccas) and this funky little outfit takes advantage of that to focus on the cooking. A simple menu done right. The caramel shake featured crunchy honeycomb that blew my mind and the fries were crisp which is revolutionary these days. The burger was moist, but didn’t explode down my arms for a change and sang with a sweet hint of tomato every 3rd or 4th bite. It was yum and I left with a smile on my face. I’ll be back for more because it works. Thank you.
Have been to shake out twice and have highly enjoyed both times. Got the chicken burger both times and really liked it. Tastes similar to bettys burgers in Aussie. The bun is really good and isn't your average burger bun as it is yellow and a bit sweet, super interesting that it is made out of potato and pumpkin flour which is super creative and I have never had anything like it. The chicken is coated with a really nice breading and is a good piece of chicken. The veggies are all super fresh and everything goes together so well. I also find the drinks to be super refreshing and taste different as the ones from a bottle. It is a self service order station and you have to pay by card which can be a little inconvenient at times but oh well. You get a buzzer to let you know when your order is ready and you go to pick it up at the counter, the last time I went we ordered 2 chicken burgers and 1 cheese burger however when we got it there was 2 cheeseburgers in there ( pictured in photo ) but we just took it anyways as we didn't mind. My favourite burger place in Auckland and definitely will be back !! Highly recommend :)
Amazing! This place might have just replaced Better Burger as my favourite burger spot in Auckland.
We ordered got a Cheeseburger, Double Cheeseburger, Cheesy Fries, Lime Pistachio Shake, and Chocolate Sundae. I absolutely loved everything. The menu was quite simple but I prefer that for my burgers, along with the modest size as you still have lots of room for fries and dessert.
The burgers were perfect, with a golden brioche bun, juicy patty, aromatic cheese and a good amount of pickle also. Shoestring fries were also great and I loved the cheese sauce. The pistachio shake definitely stood out to me more out of the two desserts I tried. It was rather thick and hard to suck from the straw but the flavours were reminiscent of a gourmet lime pistachio dessert. Would not hesitate to order this shake again.
The ordering system was very quick and convenient. Although there isn't much interaction with the staff, the girl working was very nice and made sure everything was ok with us as we were getting ready to leave.
Unsure about the service because it was all self service. But the burgers here were really delicious. The fries seemed to be self cut and were fresh.
The beef tasted like as if it was not frozen.
Highly recommended:)
They have a limited menu but fast and efficient ordering process. The chicken burger was tasty and juicy. The fries was just plain nice and crispy. Great fast food experience.
Went here last night for dinner, simple menu which is good. Double cheeseburger 8/10, patty was juicy, lettuce, tomato, buns all fresh, chips average, aioli has a vinger taste which was off putting. Burgers are rather small so we had to order cheeseburgers after and they were good not as good as the double cheeseburgers but still good, place is clean, it’s self service and pretty simple to use there system. Would go back

Best Burger shop in Auckland.
I have to say this place is the best.
How should I start this review..
Well I saw this place on Instagram so I drove up all the way from Matamata to try it.
It was so good I drove up again next week to try all the other burgers.
So far Ive tried their Cheese Burger, Chicken Burger, Double Cheese Burger, Cheesy Fries, 5 Berry Shake and Lemonade.
Soft yellow slightly sweet warm buns, slightly spicy tangy sauce with lettuce tomato and plenty of pickles, juicy lighly seasoned burger pattie with melted cheese on top JUST TAKE MY MONEY OKAY?
Chicken burger was soooo nice too it took me like 10 seconds to munch down a whole burger.
Best of all the whole ordering process is done on a kiosk/tablet so you don’t need to talk to anyone about your order. (Best for introvert loners like me)
Highly highly recommended, This is my new favourite burger place.
They got very soft bun, crunchie and juicy chicken, fast and friendly service, clean and tidy store. Flavour was ao good .Better than other burger shop!
Really yummy burgers! The buns are the best part, enjoyed both the chicken and the beef. The only downside to this place is we found it a little pricey for the size of the burger. After adding fries and a drink our whole meal added up to $25.
A combo option, larger burgers and a hamburger option for those that are dairy free would be great to see in the future.
I've been here three times since they opened. Nice freshly made burgers - however it doesn't compare to The Flaming Onion (in terms of taste, flavour).
The Goodside hub has potential, especially after events - such as the Takapuna Food, Wine & Music Festival (coming up).
Yum! We ordered the double cheeseburger, chicken burger and a side of fries.
Pretty basic but its been done right. The burgers are really good and the buns are from another planet! Let down was the chips - they are super basic / nothing special and I did not enjoy the aioli, would’ve liked to have another option
Awesome customer service, definitely will have again! Thanks guys
Yuuummmy! Uncomplicated menu. Fast service. Super soft burger buns. Go for the double cheeseburger! I will definitely be back! I’ll try the chicken burger next time.
Despite the unappealing promotion post I saw, I decided to give it a try anyways because of some good reviews. The whole cashless service is quite interesting and new (in Auckland anyways)
Food 8.5/10 Service 6/10 Ambience 6/10
Cheese Burger 8.5/10
The burger bun was sooo good! It’s soft and spongy (chewy?) at the same time, I don’t even know how to describe it but it’s niiice!
Veggie Burger 9/10
Same yummy yum yum bun! The patty was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside, it’s wayyyy nicer than I expected a veggie burger would be. Loved it!!
Cheesy fries 5/10
Just an ordinary fries with cheesy dip. I didn’t get the dip at all though.
Citrus Lemonade 8/10
Loved the citrus kick! Goes so well with a cheesy saucy burger!

Finally got to test the hype around one of Auckland’s newest burger joints! 🤩🍔
We got the cheeseburger, chicken burger and cheesy fries. 💖
We were surprised by the cheap burger prices but when the burgers arrived it kinda clicked.
They were small.
The cheeseburger was yum, the patty was really juicy and the sauce was delicious. The bun was really soft but wasn’t really toasted and within a few minutes became a tad soggy. 7/10.
The chicken burger was yum and the outside was nice and crisp. 7/10.
The cheesy fries were so cute! The cheesy sauce came in a mini coffee cup and 😍. The cheesy sauce was real good but the portion of chips was small for the price. 8/10. 🍟
Overall, our experience at shake out was pretty cool! The fancy self ordering tech was cool! The burgers tasted nice but were really small (especially compared to other burger joints) and we ended up having to get a second dinner after. Shakeout is a good place to get a light meal 😋🍔💖
The price is reasonable for the burger. Patty for me is 4.5/5. The bun is soggy but full of flavor. Fries is great specially the sauce. Nice ambiance thou 👍🏻
OH MY GOSH this place is amazing! Burgers are top notch! Did look a little small but boy do they fill you up, chips were really nice and fresh also, Soda was great too!
10/10 would go again 😆
Novel way to order. Cashless premises so bring your card. Select your menu from the counter via the tablet. Pay via card, grab your number and wait. Staff busy and not much interaction from customers which is to be expected.
Menu simple. Choice of 4 burgers. Fries with or without cheese sauce. I loved the cheese sauce ( came in a mini espresso cup) which reminded me of con queso...)
Fries were a little cold but all in all, burgers were lovely and juicy. Staff however could clear the tables on the way in. Tables stacked high with leftover food boxes. Not a good look.
Went and tried out shake out the other night. Was pleasantly suprised. Perfect place for the introvert to dine. Order on a tablet at the counter and once your handheld buzzer rings you collect it. The burgers are small in size but so fresh and tasty. And the fries were so good. Crisp decor and great food. Will be going often i think.
YOM, great burgers and shakes!! The food is kind of small but it is cheap and tasty. A bit annoying that you can’t take things out of the burgers and that the menu doesn’t tell you what’s in them apart from the meat, but I think that’s kind of the point of the restaurant - self serve, quick turn around. The cheese sauce on the chips is a big yes.
Love this place! Simple menu done really well. iPad payment method is great and really speeds things up. Food comes out really quickly and is reasonably priced.
Hands down, this place is way better than Better Burger and Burger Burger combined. Me and the wife tried their double cheese burger and normal cheese burger for a pre-workout grub, plus that huge as pickle that I did not get to finish and a shake.
You'll need to sit beside the napkin box for their burgerss it was JUICY AF! Literally drippin! The shake was THICC AF too and it was really good. - Plus that bun game, bro, SPOT ON.
We'll definitely come back this weekend with the whole family, dogs included. Cashless system was pretty good too. - This is like the burger version of Peach's Hot Wings, that is big.
North Shore stepping their game up. 💯
I’ve been so eager waiting for this spot to open because the photos of the Shake Out food looked so bloody good. Popped in today after work to check out the place and I have to stay Goodside is gorgeous! Headed to Shake Out because it was the first spot I wanted to try.
You order on self service tablets and payment is cashless, so it was quick and seamless. Staff were friendly and food came out very quickly. Food was hot and fresh but most importantly delicious! I’ve always wanted to try in-n-out or shake shack from the states so this is the closest thing to satisfy that craving.
The buns were so soft and the sauce is tangy and creamy. Read online that the patty tasted average but I loved it, I though it was seasoned well. Fries are standard, crispy and fresh. And caramel Milkshake was creamy and thick. Overall such an awesome spot to grab a burger with friends!
Amazing staff! And amazing food 🙌🏼 the shakes were amazing and will definitely go back!!! Just note that you have to pay and park outside 👍🏼
Quite similar to Better Burger where it’s menu is minimal but they do shakes.
Really tasty burger but fries were normal like simple shoestring fries.
If I were in the area I might go but wouldn’t drive all the way out here again I think!
But give it a try I’ve heard other people say really good things about it so you may like it :)
You'd be hard pressed to find fault with BurgerFuel's new baby brother - the prices are more affordable, the venue so clean I would literally eat my food off the floor if required, and a menu that's simple, easy to navigate and its eco-friendly in terms of packaging too. How's the beef? It's delicious - cooked to perfection, and the ingredients all mesh together nicely in the brioche bun. The chicken burger is great too - the crunch of the crumb of the patty is soooo satisfying... but personally I find it a bit lacking in the simplicity of itself taste-wise, when sampling the two back to back there is a noticeable flavour difference.
However - if you have issues with cheese on your burger, you will be sorely disappointed in your burger selection experience, as literally EVERY burger that has meat-protien on it comes with cheese. NO regular hamburger option here, sorry my dairy-avoiding friends - you get the Veggie burger, and that's ya lot! - this place is stringent on its "no modifications" policy - so that's a giant middle finger to anyone craving a cheese-free beef or chicken burger. This is literally the only reason I'm not giving this place a 5-star review.
👌
Simple but delicious burgers. The double cheesburger was so juicy and tender. The lime & pistachio shake was on point and wasn’t too sweet. It was a little bit hard to sip though since it was quite thicc. The cheesy fries were good but nothing special. Would definitely come back here!
Shake Out opened three days ago and I thought I should try it. I ordered a double cheese burger for $10.. it was very simple, very tasty and very juicy, so get a lot of napkins.
Friendly service.
I will be back.
Enjoyed this burger experience at Shake Out, Smales farm. We all ordered combos (vegetarian + chicken burgers), cheese fries and tried the shake. The lime and pistachio shake was a hit! The pickles in a cup tasted quite strange and not as vinegary/flavourful as expected. Portion sizes were perfect. Will be back when craving a less greasy fast food burger.

It is always a good experience eating out here. The ordering is easy through the kiosk, service is fast, and food is delicious. Specially their potato buns are so soft and tasty.
And the best thing, it is not so pricey for 2 people.
Great tasting burgers! The menu is simple, with enough variety. Choose a burger, add on fries and a drink if you like. Order yourself through the self-service terminal. The food comes neatly presented and tastes just as good as it looks. The fries are really good too. Shakes and Sundaes available as well.
Closest thing to Shake Shack in New Zealand. Fresh ingredients and great quality burgers. Fries are great as well - get the salt ‘n vinegar mayo for the fries!
Will be back here very soon! (Please keep the easy cheesy on the menu - amazingly balanced burger. 👌)
Potato bun was surprisingly tasty. Cashless. Orders are placed via tablets at the counter. Quick service despite the lunch rush. Tasty! Would order again.
Expensive although did appear to be using quality ingredients.
Cheese for cheesy fries was not only supplied on the side as to not ruin the texture of the fries but was tasty and dipable enough to have actually been worth the upcharge.
Luxurious pistachio shake.
Genuinely the best bacon bbq cheese burger I have ever had.
Unusual dystopian, sterile atmosphere.
Over all 5/5 wish they would make the opening hours accurate on google maps because I will be back.

Ordering process was smooth. Menu items are straight forward and affordable. Take away packaging was presentable. Burgers were tasty but the patty was somewhat dry. Cheesy fries was good but too salty if you dip it in the cheese sauce.
This is a super cool little store. The concept is that they only make 4 burgers (cheese burger, double cheeseburger, chicken burger and a mushroom burger) and a few sides. But this means they can deliver them super quick and use very high quality ingredients.
I had the double cheeseburger and is was amazing. They use biscuit like buns with are a little sweet in the American style. I also had a huge pickle and a drink. $12.50.
Amazing too quality food and fast-food prices and speeds.
this place offer you the top burger in auckland. it's just awesome! they got ipad order system at the front of shop, so easy and efficient. had double cheese burger by about $10.5. burger bun was so fresh and soft, might be housemade bun as I'd never see it in market or other stores. and the beef patty was just beef, really a feast, can't stop eating!
Best burgers so far!! The menu is simple, but everything on there is made to perfection. The staff is mostly friendly and you can see they are good at what they do. The only problem is that the food is addictive…I want it for every meal!!

Great burgers for kids and grown ups. Hidden gem in Takapuna. Great vibes for casual lunch/ dinner
Great tasting burger, the bun is tasty, the party is juicy and the salad is fresh with just the right amount of sauce. The fries are crunchy with bonus aioli sauce. The shake is alright. The ordering is fast due to being cashless transaction, Paywave is awesome just tap it. The food comes out quick too. The kitchen is open and very clean. The menu is limited but everything is tasty and prepared well.
Had the blob of feta burger, got roped into trying it because a friend had it. Boy oh boy this was something else. The amount of textures and flavours going on in here would not be words enough to describe.
I also had the cinnamon fries that you dip into your chocolate soft serve sundae and that thing was naughty. I even dipped a bit of tomato sauce and salt and vinegar Mayo to mix it up and it just worked perfectly.
10!
Great concept from Burger Fuel, aside from the rip off branding and style (Shake Shack). Good burgers, solid flavour. It’s cool ordering from the tablet, a bit of a gimmick but it’s quick and easy.

I started having doubts before coming by that a burger shop in the middle of an office park would actually be good, but I'm beyond glad I went and will definitely be back. They don't offer burger customisations so that they can provide faster service but there's nothing to tamper with this tasty design at all. Great patty, crisp lettuce and tomato, special sauce, and the perfect buttery toasted bun. Their shoestring fries are equally excellent especially with the cheese sauce for dipping. To be honest though, the only thing that wasn't blowing me away was the caramel shake as it was more airy and I prefer some denseness. Staff super friendly, tablet ordering machines were easy, and then EVERYTHING on your tray is compostable!
Great burger presentation and taste. One of the best burger shops in Auckland. Will throughly recommend. Sauces were also very tasty and complimented the chips and chicken very well. Thank you 👍 just visited now
