The best place on GBI for gourmet breads and croissants to take away at the weekend, consistently serving excellent coffee and providing grocery essentials, hot pies and pastries as well as top notch pates, cheeses and a range of alcoholic drinks, for residents and visitors alike. Open 7-days a week, the beautifully restored premises have been family run since 1999 in such a low-key and no-fuss manner that you won't find the owners giving too much attention to what's said about them online. Which is why I'm doing it instead. Stop by and see for yourselves when you visit this lovely location. Just keep it low-key too please; if we tell too many people, it'll spoil the surprise...
What a fantastic little gem this place is. Stopped for brunch & back time & time again. Excellent food, especially the Thai, with an opportunity to learn a bit of the language too. Great service, and if you stop & smell the roses whilst cuddling George the cat, you might remember when life wasn't so crazy.
Well worth a visit to enjoy the views & soak up the tranquillity of the island.
Has nearly everything you need here. We had a few feeds here during our stay on the island, really nice crunchy fries and yummy toasted sandwiches. You can dine in with views of the beach or takeaway. There is alcohol for sale here too. Nice owners and staff.
Had a great cheese burger from these girls. The dinner menu for Thai doesn't have prices, but it's $35 per meal to eat in or $25 for takeaway (extra for prawns).
Nice friendly store, however none of the goods on sale were priced so no way of knowing what you were going to pay. The receipt didn't provide a cost of individual items either.
Nice place to stop off and have a break 👍
Been there to do grocery shopping & some corona's for my nephew... came over for a holiday... very friendly people...prices are expensive but 👌 🆗️ for the island... love the salad greens.. i think its locally grown here alfalfa.. its yummy as.. gonna take some home to auckland when I leave hopefully...
Lovely place, very friendly, fantastic view and excellent coffee. Plus you can buy anything you need.
Awesome hosts
Thai food is like being in Thailand again
A must try
Mulberry Grove store and cafe has recently been taken over by new management who are friendly and on to it. Their little sun-drenched cafe overlooking the beach is a beaut spot for a coffee and a cheese toastie and well worth a stop. Homely but tasty food, great selection of groceries and produce in the shop and you can also get petrol here. They're happy for you to use their internet if you need to which is a bonus on this off-the-grid island and the shop cat George is also always up for a pat!
Ordered a fish burger and it was surprisingly good. The fish was crispy outside but still juicy inside. My in laws had toasted sandwiches and they were very happy with them as well. It was so good that I wanted to go back to have the same again but due to the sight seeing during the day didn't get to do it. Will definitely eat there again next time visiting the Great Barrier.
Super friendly, helpful staff and owner Steve- yum toasties and the wedges were delicious! A lovely bright cafe space to sit in/ work from with beautiful views over the water! Recommend!!
