) which is flavor party in 1 bite. Sweet, spicy & sour along with fresh salmon, crunch from the almond, ahh just simply divine! Their πͺπππππππ πππππππ & π΄πππππππ π·πππππππ₯ are so crispy, mushroom provides a tang, calamari was super soft and tender. π²πππππ πππππ

Han Restaurant in Parnell offers fine dining modern Korean cuisine. I love Korean food and enjoy it regularly. The price of Han had always deterred me from trying but after all the positive reviews and recommendations, we decided to come to Han to celebrate a couple of birthdays.
We ordered the Salmon Moochim, Bibimbab w Japchae, Charcoal BBQ Chicken w Rice Cakes and the Sirloin Steak BBQ. My favourite for the evening was the BBQ chicken which was coated in a sticky spicy BBQ sauce. The chicken made from thigh meat was juicy and tender and the rice cake had a nice chew to it. This was served with a side of soy mayo, coleslaw, pickled radish and white rice. The sirloin steak was cooked at the table with a small charcoal grill and that came with rice, sauces, house kimchi and ssam veges.
We wanted to order the slow cooked pork belly but was advised that the amount of food we have already ordered was considered a lot for the three of us.
I can see why Han is raved about online with food bloggers and reviewers. We had exceptional service throughout the evening. Even though we were too full to order dessert, they were kind enough to gift us a small mango sorbet dessert with a candle and chocolate writing β very thoughtful! They even gave us some freshly made chocolate chip cookies to take home!
Delicious food and amazing service. We had the tofu taco which was so different to anything Iβve had before but was so yummy, still thinking about it now. Also had the calamari pancake, bimbibap and spicy pork, all amazing! The spicy pork was one of the best Iβve tasted and Iβve had a lot of korean food in my time.

My favorite entree was their mushroom pancake, their pancakes are done in a fusion style, itβs crunchy, crispy and well seasoned with aroma.

Their charcoal BBQ is a definite highlight of the night and a must order. The meat were shown to us in the raw form first then barbecued, cut and served to us, accompany by traditional Korean ssam. Dip it in sauce/salt, wrap it up in vegetables or devour it with a bit of rice, there are multiple ways to enjoy it.

The round caged seating area was edgy and cozy at the same time! Great ambience for intimate get-togethers, I canβt wait to come back π―

KOREAN FUSION FINEDINING at its best @hanrestaurant.nz ππ₯ We weβre treated to an absolutely SENSATIONAL meal at Han (thanks Chef Min)!
For dinner we had selection of their steak π₯© including eye fillet which absolutely melts in your mouth! We also had the #charcoal bbq pork and chicken π (with rice cakes) alongside traditional #korean side dishes as well as rice! Loved the charred taste and great portion sizes!
Not only were the bbq π dishes amazing (with the finest #cuts π₯©), the small plates were also perfect π₯ ! A highlight for me would have to be the k style calamari pancake which was absolutely spot on! After the first crispy bite, the rest of the pancake just slowly crumbles and melts in your mouth as you take another bite. The flavours were bomb too and trust me your want 2 servings of this!
A dinner is never complete without a SWEET FINISH! The multigrain icecream π¨was such a delightful surprise π and I wouldnβt have asked for a better #dessert to conclude an amazing night! Thanks for the great hospitality @hanrestaurant.nz and Iβll be back! π

Amazing modern twist on Korean cuisine. They nailed the presentation and atmosphere. My only complaint is the portion size is small and my broke ass wants more π but that's only because they truly are delicious. I loved everything I ordered and I'm sure you will too π
Ordered the 5 course menu, was delicious ! Intresting flavours and nice ambience.
Negatives - Our drinks were a little slow to come (glass of wine and a beer)
- Down the back there was a particularly loud group... (cant help that really) but they all starting cooking on their little barbecues and the smoke pooled around the middle section near our tables and others....... was a little awkward because it wasnt moving anywhere......but regardless, had a lovley meal !
The 5 course taster was on point in flavours, textures and quantities. Pacing was perfect. Very inventive and delicious fusion flavours, e.g. the chocolate mushroom refresher!
I loved everything. The chef even came to ask which of the dishes we liked the most! I'd say the octopus. It was solid.
Only criticism is that a few dishes were over salty.

Started with the fried chicken which is tangy sweet. The daikon cuts through and balances this dish out well. 5/5
The beef galbi is amazing to look at so much going on in this dish. The beef is super tender but still holds shape and colour. The mushrooms were divine. 5/5

What an incredible night I had at Han π I didn't know what to expect when I ordered this dish called the 'crispy calamari pancake' given that it was a Korean inspired restaurant I was excited to taste it π it 110% did NOT disappoint! The pieces of calamari were fresh and full of flavour as it was glazed with honey π― the mayo sauce made sure the dish wasn't too dry π€€ and the crunchiness of the strips of pickled onions gave a contrasting texture to the softness of the pancake itself. When you put the pancake in your mouth, it almost melts inside but at the same time it's chewy and flavoursome π such a yummy dish I wish they did a larger portion of this so I could eat more of it!!
Pleasantly surprised. Korean fusion at it's best and lives up to the fine dining name. Loved every dish we chose and would definitely come back for again. Compliments to the chef and wait staff. Yum!
Have been wanting to try here for a while and worth the wait. The food was incredibly tasty. Beef tacos and the Calamari pancake a highlight. The duck was incredibly flavorsome and the grill good quality meet. Also had the duo of mousse to share with my husband and while not being really a fan or Asian style desserts, it was really good. One of the highlights was the quality of the drinks menu. The only let down was the service was a bit slow and maybe some portions slightly larger though maybe I should have ordered some more of the amazing dishes to try.
Exciting Korean fusion food with a modern twist. The dining room is small and intimate, the service was eager but patchy at times. The food was most enjoyable, in particular the kimchi wrapped pork belly and oyster dumplings, the beef short rib and the duck breast main. I hidden gem well worth investigating
I have tried 3 of their desserts (winter garden, beetroot ice cream & duo of mousse). All are very different from your usual sweet desserts and a lot more "earthier" in flavour. Definitely if you are looking for the typical, instagram, sweet-tooth desserts, this isn't the place for you. But if you would like to experience dessert interpreted in a different way, at $15 - $18, it is moderately priced and won't hurt the wallet too much. i rate it 5 stars because it was different and i couldn't really tell if i liked it or not as it's not really something i've tried before.
Bit of pricy, but Very good for special occasion. Food is surprisingly nice to us. Waygu beef is average okey though. Korean restaurant, but a fusion cuisine style. Friendly staff.
Great dinner and the vegan options were fantastic. Loved the mushroom pancake (kind of like a waffle?) and tofu taco. The Korean vege dish was great, especially enjoyed the fern shoots.

Warm and cozy on the winter night we visited. We had the crispy calamari pancake which is a must have. The bbq whilst delicious and entertaining, didnβt come with enough extras. The girls shared a sublime mouse. Excellent staff. Iβm taking the bloke next time.

Came here for date night on a Saturday and what a bloody treat. After giving up on the city due to insaaane congestion, we decided to head to Parnell and check out new spot, Han.
Seated quickly with polite and friendly service, at a beautifully ambient, intimate table, it was a massive relief from the carnage of town. We ordered the fried chicken, mushroom pancake, sashimi crackers and karbonara. The pancake, chicken and crackers were amazing. Served amazingly quickly with beautiful finesse and a complex variety of flavours. The karbonara was different, and the kimchi was a massive asset, but I wasn't sold on such a creamy, European dish after the starters. The pork belly was really just bacon, and I'm not sure if I'd order it again, but in general a fabulous meal. The Pinot noir (by glass) was also incredibly rich and silkyππΌ overall a top night with a refreshing cuisine - an asset to the Auckland food scene.
Best of the best Korean fusion restaurant in town. My partner took me there to celebrate my 28th birthday and everything was absolutely amazing. All the food we ordered on the day was not only well presented but yummy. The staff were really friendly, attentive and welcoming. They explained to us the whole menu and gave us suggestion for the drinks and food. I love the ambience of the restaurant and the lighting that makes us feel so cozy. When we went to the counter to pay, the chief (I think he's Korean) even talked to us and asked us about the dining experience, what dish we liked the most etc. I think everyone working in this restaurant really put their effort in delivering the best food as well as the best service to customers. The only minus point is you might have to wait a bit long as this restaurant is super busy during meal time. But it's not a big deal for me as I can just enjoy their lovely drinks while talking with my partner tho :) Highly highly recommended π½

Itβs one of those days that even my coffee needs a coffee, however nothing a great meal canβt fix. Tonight is our first visit to Han, we just walked in with no reservation made, thought we would have to wait for a while. Staffs from the kitchen was very friendly and welcoming, he greeted us with a smile, said the manager will attend to us shortly, and that we could sit by the bar until the manager is available. The manager attended to us promptly and had our table ready in a few mins time.
The ambience and the dinning experience was just awesome! Firstly, the cocktails we ordered were one of the best we had in years in NZ - long green tea and cherry blossom. For entree, we had calamari pancake and pork bossam. It was our first visit, so we were quite keen to try the charcoal bbq but werenβt sure if our table will be big for that, the waitress for our table was attentive and explained the dishes in details with a few delightful recommendations. The food here is so yum like next level. Especially loved the beef golbi taco! The beef is so tender, juicy and flavourful. Itβs so tender that you can just bite into it and forget about your knife and fork. Would have rate it a 5/5 but the wait time on the food is too long... I fell like I was gonna starve to death not even exaggerating, you can tell from the lighting of the photo how long we waited. They only have one staff on the floor so youβll have to be patient when you want to call for a wait staff as well. Iβll still go back again though because the food here is just too good. Just donβt come to this place when youβre starving like I did and youβll be amazed.

Very much a posh Korean fusion restaurant, I guess it will be great for a date, but just not my type. Good service and vibes, booking recommended.
A Korean fusion restaurant, very good vibe , food are all very nicely plated and very refreshing ingredients and flavour, I get surprises from almost every dish! From salmon taco to the yuzu beetroot ice cream dessert!
Dish size are quite small for the price, but itβs well worth it if you are after something different to the tradition Korean cuisine.

Came here 2 weeks ago when the Zomato Gold deal was 1 + 1 on food (I think this has changed now). We got 2 Korean BBQ ($40 each) and overall was an enjoyable experience, although it would have been expensive without the zomato gold.
The actual menu is variable and there is lots of different types of Korean food to try. The restaurant diverts from the traditional Korean cuisine and serves it in a modern way which is definitely quite refreshing.
The restaurant itself is dimly lit, and each 2 person table has a small light and a smoke ventilator which is ideal for the KBBQ.
Came here with the family on a quiet Sunday night. Very dark inside with a sleek industrial theme.
Food wise since it was our first time here and we just got the waiter to feed us, so we got to try all the food.
Things to def try are the tacos and both flavours of the pan cake! The Korean take on the carbonara was interesting!
Do not get the self grill set, it is slow and portion wise u be better off going to a proper korean bbq! My took forever to grill and they gave me only 2 pieces of lettuces and perilla leaves (very stingy on this).
Desserts are the high light of the night! All three are good with different variations for people who might want to cleanse their palate after meal or just go hard on the chocolate!
Overall, just try the fusion food as this is what ur after in a fusion restaurant and I would say they do s bloody good job of it!

Premium location, Modern decoration, nice atmosphere, friendly staffs and tasty food. We ordered calamari pancake, Korean style chicken and BBQ. Calamari is fresh and cooked just enough, it retains somewhat firm texture. And spices match pancake well. Korean style chicken is yummy, juicy inside and crunchy outside. The pickle on the side gives you refreshment. I like the small BBQ grill, suitable for 1 or 2 ppl eating together. The sauce is delicious and itβs easy to get tender and juicy meat.
Recommend and will definitely come back soon.

Came here during weekday for their lunch menu. We used Zomato Gold. Me and my partner both got the beef skirt and pork belly to grill at the table. We were given a portable charcoal grill to cook the meat. The experience was fun however the meat cooked rather slowly. The meat were tasty, accompanied by what tasted like bugolgi sauce and range of pickles, kimchi, vegetables and rice. Whilst everything tasted fresh and delicious, we couldnt help but feel that the portion of the meats were extremely small. If it had not been the 1+1 deal we would feel short changed.

Self cooking charcoal barbecue was an amazing experience that everyone should try. The little mini barbecue pit on your own table served with high quality meat, sauces, seasonings, vegetables, rice and kimchi.
Kimchi fried rice was packed with different types of flavours and felt like I was eating a really well balanced meal.
Fried chicken was really tender and juicy inside whilst keeping its crispyness on the outside.
Best place for some fancy dining experience!

Han is the best Korean restaurant, if not the best restaurant I have visited in a very long time - it's a bold statement I'll back with my experiences in Korea recently and extensive travel. Speaking to the owner and chef afterwards - Min, I left knowing he genuinely loves and cares about his food, guests, and restaurant.
The starters of Kimchi Pie and pork were delicious and a sign of things to come. The mains, which we ordered as a plate of mixed BBQ, had very fine and fresh meats - absolutely delicious. Finally, I'm not usually one to stay for desert, but I did, and I was very impressed, both the Soju watermelon and Raspberry Ice cream were excellent fusions.
Finally, the drink options were great, especially the fact there was a creative set of non-alcoholic cocktail options. I was genuinely impressed and my cocktail was fantastic without!
To top it off, the decor is well thought out, and I didn't even look at the bill at the end - whatever it was, was well deserved.
Have come 3 times now and every time has been as amazing as the first. Will definitely be back a fourth time + . Awesome bubbly waiter who although it was really busy ensured you were looked after and chefs are very friendly not to mention food is worth the money. Definitely above the average Asian cuisine.

We decided to come back again to try their normal menu which turned out to be great. Went along with the manager's recommendation and we absolutely loved the calamari pancake and beef tartare. Managed to say hi to Chef Min who is such a humble and smiley man! Service was wonderful and I'm glad we were able to experience Han for what it usually is.

I can only speak for the Valentine's Day set that we had which was below expectations for what the price is worth. It was our first experience dining here and I was so sure it wouldn't disappoint, having read all the positive reviews.
I was aware that the place is rather small and had requested a table by the side, which we were given. But we could still hear every single word from the next table. Apart from that, the place was uncomfortably stuffy and we were perspiring during the whole course.
Food was disappointing. As a big fan of Korean food, theirs was nowhere near authentic. And the bbq meat set had only a few sticks.
Staff were not very attentive in refilling our glasses as well and there is only one unisex toilet which didn't look very clean to me.
Perhaps, the normal menu would have given us a better dining experience. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.

Cheeky Tuesday:
β’ Pork belly & aged kimchi pie - beautiful golden crust, filling was super soft pork belly and the aged kimchi contrasted well to balanced out the fat.
β’ Beef tartare - just the freshest beef minced so small it melts in your mouth, you barely have to chew. The tiny dried anchovies really lift the dish, with your choice of kicks in the apple wasabi purΓ©e and blue cheese ice cream (I hate blue cheese, but I dig this ice cream).
β’ Salmon - loooove the seaweed moss on the top, brocollini had a proper kick to it, and the beetroot made my day - roasted with so much love it was oozing with sweetness. All itβs missing is some crispy salmon skin, which broke my heart a little.
β’ Hanβs traditional charcoal grill - venison | pork belly | beef skirt - venison was so fresh and tender it melts on your tongue, grill the pork belly to a crisp for a proper good time, and the beef skirt rounded everything off.
β’ Seedlip non-alcoholic cocktail - the only downside of the night, somebody please tell me why this tastes like grass? At $16, Iβm straight up sad. I may as well have had a kale and spinach smoothie twice over, and that stuff is rough.

Atmosphere in Han is very modern and relax.i love their service , my favorite dishes are beef tacos and Korean Charcoal BBQ ,meet is tender and juicy. It is one of the best Korean restaurants in my opinion.highly recommend !

1 portion of bbq was good for 1 so I would recommend 1 meal per person.
The service was good however the restaurant filled up fast which impeded the service as well.

Amazing food and fantastic service. We loved how all the flavours of each dish went so well with each other despite being unconventional, every dish was such a delightful surprise! The portions were pretty well sized as well, with 2 starters and 2 mains being extremely filling. Our favourite for the night was the beef galbi taco which was really tasty fall apart pieces of beef on really crispy shell, topped with some delicious kimchi. Loved the good blend of flavours and textures of the beef tartare, especially with blue cheese ice cream. The lamb neck had a mix of interesting sauces and flavours despite being a typically common Kiwi restaurant dish, and I especially enjoyed the roasted kumara which was so naturally sweet, it was was almost candied. Really high quality meats were served for the BBQ as well. As we were getting the bill, the Chef was really friendly and so keen to know what we loved about the meal, which made the experience even better knowing how interested he was to Ensure we had a good experience. We will definitely be back Again to try more items on the menu.
The place and ambience was excellent. Tastefully decorated, taste of food was superb. Service was however slow. We waited 50 minutes to be given a stove with the raw BBQ meat. We also got the lamb neck. Both were delicious but the portion sizes were small. Sauces are their specialty.
Nice bulgogi sauce and doenjang, delightful flavors for the BBQ. The lamb was juicy and tender with very refreshing perilla sauce that I have not tasted anywhere else.
Happy to pay 1+1 price for the experience, but maybe not full price given the choices in Auckland.
This is not your traditional Korean restaurant. The food was not cheap but everything we ordered was full of flavor. Presentation and service was great. We were glad they were able to accommodate our children with some simple dishes. Itβs a great place to go for a special occasion.

The atmosphere and indoor decor is very relaxed, the service is also great and the chef personally asked for our opinions.
Each dish is carefully put together and beautifully presented, with a selection of fusion dishes with our favourite being the beef taco.
The meats in the Korean bbq main dish was super fresh and came with a variety of sauces to add flavour.
Overall this was an excellent experience, very highly recommended!

One of the best restaurants I have been in Auckland. Korean cruise made in European way. Even Asian fusion sort of restaurants are not as popular as used to be, Han is really worth to try. Not very big restaurant I have to say, went on Tuesday lunch with a friend. Not very busy and only one waiter on the floor. The waiter works fast and make sure to look after all tables even only by himself.
Enjoy the food, you can tell each dish designed by the chef with the Love. It is Korean food, but with European cultures in. Love all the dishes, the Chef and believe he is owner delivered the food to our table and explain each dish by himself. You must try the beetroot Ice cream, to be honest, I am not really a big fan of the beetroot, but it is the best ice creams I have ever had in life so far. I called the Chef and asked where he gets the ice cream from, and was told he made the ice cream himself. I have to say it is amazing.
Nice food and great service, thank you Chef for being so passionate about the food, we could even feel the passion from each dish. I will definitely come back and will highly recommend to all others. Thanks and keep up the good job Han!
The best korean restaurant in AucklandοΌοΌοΌnot the cheap bbq buffet, it's the luxury one with wagyu and other good quality meat. All dishes are pretty nice with nice presentationοΌ
This meal was sensational!! We tried the beef tacos, fried chicken, bimbimap and the trio mouse desert as well as the tomato Carmel one. They were so flavoursome and beautiful presentation! It was not only yummy to eat but fun to eat! Would highly highly recommended!
Wow!! The flavours and textures were unbelievable. One of the most delicious meals I have had in Auckland and we will definitely coming back. A lovely team who create some incredible flavours. See you again very soon!!
Han is more than a meal, it is more like an experience, a real hit to all the senses and an establishment that is breaking down borders of ethnic cuisine.
Fore warning, if you like traditional Korean food then this place probably isn't for you.
But everything we ordered here was absolutely mind blowing, from the pie to the Korean BBQ to the calamari pancake, every dish is nicely thought out and executed. Keeping a traditional Korean flavour profile while challenging your perception of what Korean cuisine could be.
If you want to have an interesting and delicious meal, make a booking try it for your self, you will love it.
Our third visit to Han was last night, for their special Modern Korean New Yearβs Feast. We have loved our previous visits, but have to say this completely blew us away! Some of the best food we have had in a long time, it was innovative, exciting and every bite was delicious. Han is holding fast as one of our favourite fine dining restaurants in Auckland.

My husband and I have had few meals where we've thought WOW that was amazing. And we've eaten in most of the fancy restaurants around town. This was one of those few amazing meals. We are very familiar with Korean food, my husband being Korean so we really did not know what to expect and were also skeptical.
Han blew us out of the water with every bite. This is not traditional food as it is modern Korean but we loved how the chef has incorporated the Korean culture in the small details. Seriously, everything was AMAZING. I am surprised that it doesn't have a higher rating and isn't as popular as other restaurants. Perhaps because Korean food is still considered a little adventurous.
We had a lot between us - the calamari pancake, raw beef salad, KFC, pork belly pie, bbq, salmon and the bingsu dessert. I can't name one bad or even average dish. My husband was impressed that even the bingsu was made the traditional way with milk.
The only downside I can think of is that some of the food is a tad sweet which we understand why and don't mind too much.
Also beautiful plating, beautiful restaurant and great service.

Exemplary food and service. The waiter was attentive without being invasive, and the galbisal BBQ was fantastic (coming with perilla leaves!). A lot of nice vegetable options too. The fit-out is slick, and the place had a really mellow and intimate ambiance.Β Even the music, which is usually not notable, was perfect. Worth going to Parnell for.
Finally I found very nice Korean restaurant. Food here very fresh and yummy. They have a good vegetarian option too. I will back to try vegetarian dishes.
A wonderful experience shared with a good friend, you will be amazed.Β The price reflects the attentative service, the fine wine and the exceptional menu.Β The crispy calamari pancake is a must and encourage you to try, a great delicate entree with melting flavours (tip get the bigger option as its that yummy).Β The BBQ experience is definitely not what you want to do when you go out for dinner however the lovely bbq pork belly straight off the grill and then wrapped up in sesame and lettuce leaves along with kimchi and sauces and side of rice made the bbq experience even more enjoyable.Β The ambiance of the place is a very intimate setting.Β Enjoy!
Service at Han was friendly and professional. Itβs not a cheap option (with mains solidly in the $30-50 bracket) but we easily fed 5 people with 3 BBQ options, 3 starters and 2 sides. The sesame leaves served with the BBQ are so interesting and the sauces and kimchi are delicious. Whoever designed the extractor deserves an award, absolutely spectacular functional design
My partner and I came here for our anniversary dinner last weekend. We made a last minute booking which wasnβt a problem at all. The atmosphere is lovely, dimmed lighting adds to the elegant contemporary ambiance. Staff were very attentive & kindly explained the menu to us as well as made welcomed suggestions on dishes.
Loved that the chief took interest in our dining experience and ensured we enjoyed the food.
Food was amazing - calamari pancake is a favourite. Each dish had ample flavour and was clearly crafted with care.
My only criticism is that Zomato states Han as causal dining, we didnβt feel that was the case & felt a little under dressed - (partner was wearing a cap & tee)

I was especially excited about trying this place because I had previously tried the head chef's delicious, exquisitely plated food at the markets - honestly some of the best food I've ever tried on a paper plate.
Han did not disappoint, in fact I'll probably go back just to double check that yep, still some of the best food I've ever had, only this time in an amazingly designed restaurant with lovely servers and dessert! options!! Hell yeah, go to HAN, prepare to open both your wallet and your heart.
Stand out dishes: Pork belly pie, delicious and perfectly balanced with condiments and textures.
The chocolate kumura dessert, how did they make it taste so creamy?? witchcraft probably.
Have not tried the BBQ yet but so definitely will, next time!
Stunning modern Korean food that will simply amaze.Β We have been here for lunch and dinner as a couple along with bringing family and also clients here.Β Everyone has been simply stunned with the flavours and quality of the food - in a modern ambient environment.Β And yes they have Korean bbq but also soooo much more.Β My favourite is the calamari pancake - it is to die for.Β My partner likes soooo many of the dishes but his latest favourite is the beef galbi dish - see the attached pic.Β He reckons that it's probably the best beef dish at any NZ restaurant!Β If this was in NYC it would be at least 2 Michelin stars.Β I hope that you enjoy HAN as much as we do - check out the menu.
This is the best contemporary Korean BBQ restaurant I have been. A mix of traditional Korean and French cuisine. The ambience was cosy and relaxed - perfect as we were having a catch up with friends whom we havenβt met for years. The service was very attentive. They have small but good selection of drinks. Now comes to the food - DIVINE! We had the wild caught king prawn and it just grilled to perfection. Military soup and calamari pancakes are full of flavour. The bbq meat is top quality. And the pork belly just melts in your mouth. The highlight was the dessert, I am not a beetroot fan but I gobbled down the mixed grain anglaise, yuza sauce, almond, beetroot ice cream & red ginseng meringue in no time! I am so coming back to try the remainder of the menu.

We heard lots of good things about this fairly new restaurant. We sure weren't disappointed. We ordered four snacks (calamari pancake, Korean fried chicken, shrimp, and pork belly pie). And we had two entree dishes (venison tartare and cured salmon). The shrimps came to the table first and were very fresh but didn't blow our minds. Then came the pancake. That was really tasty. The pancake dough was sticky but not too dense, it was just right. Chicken batter was light and crispy. The pie was our favourite. That pie was really interesting. First impression of it was that the combination of flavours was confusing but after the second spoonful, the flavours start to make sense. The complexity of the flavours added so much depth to the pie. We then had a desert. I had the chocolate kumara. It was very nicely done, light and easy on the palate. The service was very good. Our maitre d knew all the dishes inside out. We didn't have main in the end since we had six dishes plus a desert already, all for just $160 including two alcoholic beverages.
Second visit:
We had the fabulous calamari pancake again (still as nice as the first time), modern pork bossam, karbonara and tomato granita for desert.
Pork bossam is light and easy, makes a good entree to tingle your palate, getting it ready for more. Even though it says pork belly, the belly was quite lean, so don't worry about it being too heavy.
The karbonara is an interesting one. The sauce is creamy and tastes just like a Italian carbonara sauce. The noodle on the other hand was taro noodle, which tasted a bit like soft boiled glass noodle. Because it is so soft, mixed in the dense creamy sauce it becomes quite soggy and heavy. After a few spoon full I felt too full. This is a dish you have to approach with a very open mind. If you order it with the expectation to be serve Al dente noodle you may not enjoy it.
The granita is highly recommended. The cold icy granita is refreshing, melting away whatever greasy dish you had before. Dressed in basil yoghurt and soju compressed melon it was my dish of the night.
Next time we'd like to reorder Korean fried chicken and Military stew.
Plus some new ones; Homemade free range pork belly & aged kimchi pie and Hanβs authentic charcoal BBQ.......
Went this place for lunch, outstanding food, great ambience and excellent service. Not very Korean authentic but the all presentations was divine very matched with upmarket Parnell.
It was honestly amazing the food, the service and the ambiance. I'm coming back definitely. Can't wait to try more of their menu. Best Korean in Auckland hands down.

We have been wanting to try HAN for a long time and finally managed to get there for lunch yesterday.Β Let me say that this is not only very likely the best Korean restaurant in NZ but also one the best restaurants in Auckland.Β The crazy thing is that it's also well priced i.e. we had 4 dishes and two alcoholic drinks for $83 all up!Β We had the prawns and also calamari pancake starters and then the military stew and bibimbap mains - see the picture for the latter, it was soooo good.Β It is the special touches in the way that they prepare each and every ingredient of a dish that makes the sum of the total all the more than the individual parts.Β We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant - especially for the way that they take Korean dishes to the next level!Β Oh - and if Korean food scares you a bitΒ then HAN is also a great way to access something new.
Had to edit this - as last night I had a birthday at HAN which was fantastic and I had this amazing custard dish.Β It was Silken spicy seafood egg custard, paua, prawn, calamari, roe & a soon dubu sauceΒ See the pic!

I was told that Han opened to business only 2 months ago.Β It was a Saturday afternoon & there weren't many customers at Han - unlike at Winona Forever next door, it was packed with people. Anyway, we wished to try the modern Korean food.
We chose, for sharing, the Military stew - chorizo broth with ox-tail, veggie & sago, veggie bibimbap & venison tartare (which I specifically requested to replace Han's charcoal BBQ with venison bulgogi, pork belly & beef skirt steak). The stew was rich in flavour; bibimbap, unlike the traditional recipe, was my wife's choice. Venison tartare was excellent, with crispy cashew nuts & anchovy, and it really was my 5/5 pick. The dessert of red ginseng & beetroot ice cream ended our lovely lunch on a high note.

Han is beautifully fitted out and has an excellent intimate atmosphere.
The portions are substantial. The Venison tartare is fresh and so full of flavour.
The military stew has that wonderful smokey flavour and could easily be shared between two.
When was the last time you had sago in an entree in an Auckland restaurant.
The Beef main with caramelized beetroot and asparagus, and the Pork belly with broccolli and
kumara like you have never tasted before, are a testament to chefs talent. An inspired meeting between korean and western flavours.
Dr Loosens Dry Riesling went perfectly with the food.
An excellent addition to Parnells dining scene.
