Amazing service and delicious food! One of our favorites.
Our favourite local: dog friendly, kid friendly, staff are friendly. Great kids menu and the adult food is generous.
Absolutely loved this place! The cafe itself is beautifully decorated and spacious. Lighting was amazing and if you sit outside, it’s rather nice. Had their eggs bene with a iced matcha green tea. Food was delicious and their service was amazing! Loved the lady who served us, thank you.
came to dine here with my girlfriend this afternoon after a day out at the park. The server was very nice. This place was very inviting; the ceilings were pretty tall and the seating area was very spacious ( with the option of outdoor and indoor seating .)
We ordered the goats cheese, a side of fries, juice of the day and the creme brûlée.
The goats cheese meal was very satisfactory. No complains here. The goats cheese was sweet and creamy. When combined with the salad , grapes and bread - it was a flavourful explosion in my mouth.
The fries were probably the highlight. They were seasoned beautifully, and when dipped in the sauce, *chef kiss* brilliant.
The juice of the day was pretty yummy , ginger & carrot. I really liked the combination.
The creme brûlée was delicious , made very well. It was my first creme brûlée so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but my girlfriend rated it a 4/5.
Lovely ambience , food and service. I have no complaints.

Located right in the centre of Pt Chevalier Rd , Auckland , very spacious cafe with dine in and outdoor seating facility. Ambience is good , food served in a very presentable manner and delicious food.
Good atmosphere. We came 6 for a brunch. We had to wait at least 20 mins to get the food (was Sunday brunch time). Coffees came too early (we had to order another one). Prices average. Food was very good. We’ll give it a try again...
Really great food, and a nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the food came out quickly despite it being a peak time. Will definitely be back in the future
Ok coffee. Huge menu with lots of variety and choice as well as some counter food. Very hispter staff but all very nice. Brought some colouring pencils and paper for my son. We arrived early morning and it was pretty busy when we left.
Point Chev brunch games continue strong with this new addition to the neighbourhood. A thoughtful, modern, rustic interior with a dash of art décor gives the place an appropriately classy feel — think intricate geometric inlays and stark white walls paired with rich wooden accents. If reading this makes you think of Petit Bocal and Woodworks then you’ve hit the nail on the head, this is co-owners Matthieu Gosset and Julian Able’s new baby. The menu is a rich array of offerings ranging from traditional brunch eats (spot the charming French influences) — to the 3pm Farmers’ Platters and a glass of red — all the way up to the bistro hard-hitters (helloo, slow cooked lamb ragu). Be wary of the pricing though, as they are indicative of the sizes of the item — the ceviche was divine but not enough on its own. Other than that, we’re loving this beautifully minimalist space, and can envision Ambler hosting many functions and good times in the coming months!

Good food, nice atmosphere, and super friendly staff. Food was reasonably priced and salmon bagel was delicious (good portion size) salmon was fresh and buttery and all the flavours complimented the dish really well, left the meal feeling full and satisfied yet light and fresh. Clean menu design too.
This place is a god send to Pt Chev. It was fairly busy when we went for lunch today but the service was super quick, staff very attentive and friendly and the food was amazing! We had brunch and were in and out within an hour and the place was 3/4 full - we were happily surprised how quick and seamless it was! I have the breakfast bruschetta and it was divine! The other half had food envy!
We can’t wait to try dinner, the wine list reads nicely 😉
Bloody delicious, great menu, great wine. Get the fries!!! Went for lunch and so many tasty choices it was hard to decide, can’t wait to go back!
Warm and classy cafe in Point Chevalier. Their menu has a lot of choices for different tastes. The service is excellent and I really enjoyed my meal of Smashed Avocado on Five Grain Toast with Creme Brûlée for dessert. A bit pricey, but well worth it.
A really nice evening with friends made special because of the staff at Ambler. We were seated and about to have food delivered when another couple arrived.
No room at our table of 8? No problem, the staff smoothly relocated our party of 10 , drinks, place settings etc to another table.
Did I mention the food? Loved the goat cheese, the roasted broccoli with mashed peas, steak cooked to perfection. And the cream brûlée!! Go before the rest of Auckland finds this place.

Thought we'd try Ambler again and was very impressed.

While I enjoyed my usual meal, my friend ordered a tuna dish (pictured) that was disappointing.
The tuna was cut too thickly and difficult to cut, borderline inedible.
The potatoes were dead cold and there was also no dressing.
We received a discount which was appreciated but still a waste of a meal that could have been amazing.
Rookie error on the chefs behalf.
Great coffee, food and friendly staff.
Amazing place, cool guys and great customer service, food, drinks and salad was so delicious. Definitely will come back. Don't miss the burger.
Lots of floor space indoors with outdoor seating as well.
Nicely lit, table service with friendly staff.
Pastries were good and coffees were nice and strong.
If you like sweet coffees but you're not into mocha or straight sugar, they don't have syrups as an option so just be mindful of that.
Pleasant experience overall.
We had a group booking for 10 and we were really well looked after, just the right amount of service interaction. Food was lovely; as we picked 11am we had the option of the both the brunch and main menu. Really nice spot.
Trying out a new place (drive past lots) did not look busy but always has people there once we went in you could see why it's a big place lots of seat's and staff just as lovely as the food
First time visit for lunch, and there was a bit of time waiting for everything (table, staff, menu, food). However, the food was good. Loving the cheesy Croque Monsieur😋 It was a lovely place to catch up with friends, but there were lots of flies flying around which was quite annoying😂
Food and Service were exceptional. But the front door doesn't close properly, so we sat in a constant draft.
A truly hidden gem in Pt. Chev. The exterior looks a bit dated, and hard to find the cafe sign whereas the layout inside is nice and cozy. Been here three times and becoming a regular for brunch on the weekend. Scrumptious food, superb coffee, and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Dear Ambler, as a local I’ve always tried to support you. You hit a rough patch a few month ago, and after a number of visit of average food, missing ingredient and short staff I thought we were going to have to cut ties. But alas I came back and so glad I did! Wow have you given things a shake up, new menu, new food. Quinoa bowl was 9/10, the parfait was a 8/10 - even that’s improved! Just wish there was more bread. The fish ceviche wow wow wow! Did honestly not expect it to be that good! trifle desert was a very unnecessary but totally enjoyable extra
Great local cafe, well service as well. Love the layout and the bar.
Ordered crispy chicken burger for lunch. Everything was well cooked, the portion of the crispy chicken was a bit smaller than expected. In general it was very good.
Coffee is as good as other cafe’s around the block.
Lovely place with great tasty food and good strong coffee. I always look forward to a social catch up here with friends and family as I know it will be delicious.
Went in for a late lunch after 1.30pm, quick byt friendly service, although it took a long time to read and choose from the menu! The Eggs Benedict & Smashed avo on toast really hit the spot as I was craving breakfast food. Coffee was great too!
A nice spot to catch up over coffee/wine.
Lovely cafe, beautiful spot in PT chev, plenty of parking. Great service, most of the workers are French so a great place to practice your French. Has a great all rounded menu lots of options for meat eaters, vegans, gluten free options. Coffee is the best here, always consistent and their matcha is great too. My favorite is the smashed avocado and you must try their lamb sausage it's delicious! Their Buddha bowl is great if you're wanting something on the lighter side and they have a great variety of wine for those who like good quality wine:)
Food was delicious, great customer service as well.
Great communication to book our table (need to call vs book online for groups 8+) Good brunch meals and coffees were delicious!
