Found this lovely establishment while on holiday during February, from Scotland to New Zealand. Good location for us - like a wee hideaway from the bustle and noise. Great welcoming staff and superb coffee, muffins to die for, open sandwiches and when on menu, eggs Benedict were just perfect. There is only one problem - rather a long journey for daily visits. Just have to hope we can return soon
I stumbled onto this cosy refuge on a miserable wet day. Greeted with warm friendly atmosphere and a complimentary glass of warm lemon and honey water. The coffee was great. Menu is limited to breakfast basics; the quality and service is great. As a traveller missing my pet dog, I was pleased to make the acquaintance of Basil the Schnauzer, who accompanied another guest into the cafe. Dogs are welcome at Hyde, with water bowls and treats provided.
I had a grilled octopus and eel pâté in two different occasions. The food was excellent, expertly paired with drinks. Outstanding service. A cozy place.
Really great spot with good wine list and sunny courtyard. Just tucked off Ponsonby rd. Will be back!

We had the awesome Lamb on pea humus and the chef let me sneak a peak on how to hit the lamb with some heat. Dining in the courtyard was super romantic too.
My friend and I discovered this gem on Saturday morning as it was basked in sunshine and full of happy brunchers. We came back for a late dinner, as the menu looked so good. We were not disappointed. The vegetarian dish of the day was gnocchi with truffle mushroom and cream sauce, was very good and perfect with the venison carppacio and kingfish which were also fabulous. The maitre d was delightful, the service fantastic, and the wine was excellent. We also had a lovely chat with the owner. This is my new go to!
This place deserves way more recognition than it has. It's on the non-busy end of ponsonby road, and in a little courtyard off the main street so if you don't know about it it's very easy to miss. The inside is modern and sleek yet cosy. I came here for a weeknight dinner with 2 others and shared a platter and a plate of 3 sliders between us. The platter is meant for 2 but was easily shared between the three of us leaving us all satisfied. The staff were attentive and friendly, topping up our water even after we had finished eating, letting us sit and chat for ages after our meal. Not a huge place but lovely ambience - it's perfect for date night or catch up with a small group.
Such a nice and quiet environment. Love open beef sandwich so much～ Tea is also great. Enjoy sitting in the sunshine and chatting with friends there. Will visit again!
Down a little alley off Ponsonby Road, enjoyed this venue small courtyard, wine and good food in the sun. Does have indoor seating as well, but most enjoyable suit. Manager popped out and chatted most convivial.
Very pleasant informal place with great tasting dishes. Something different for Ponsonby Road with wine 'specials' by the glass..just $10.00. Good for breakfast/brunch too!
