Read a previous review and had a totally different experience. Went to lunch with two others ,all had great meals, service was very good and very friendly staff. Will definitely go again.Considered an enjoyable experience.
Came in for brunch to this little lovely cafe in Epsom. Ordered corn beef hash cakes and creamy mushroom - they’re scrumptious and really filling. Coffee was ok and awesome service !
Raven & Cook is a small cafe in Greenwood’s corner with great coffee and brunch available daily.
There’s a good selection of cabinet cafe food, muffins, scones and slices as well.
I frequent this cafe as it is close to my house and love their salmon eggs Benedict, they use salmon fillet instead of the packet salmons (the picture is of the vegetarian eggs benny, but it was a bit on the salty side).
It does get quite hot in the cafe during summer as the kitchen is close to the seating area.
I’ve been going to Raven and Cook since day 1. I love the coffee, counter food and exceptional service. I just wonder if you would consider varying the food choices a bit. I love your salads but just a bit tired now that that is always the same.
More importantly for me is the state of the kitchen and back area near the toilet. It looks messy and I saw a wet towel resting in the handwash basin as you walk to the loo. The washing area across from the toilet also looks messy. I don’t mean to be pedantic but overall tidiness = hygiene to me and I think is vital for your cafe’s image. Lastly, leave the old tiles on the wall as they are, that is the beauty and quaintness of the whole cafe. It was an old fish and chips shop and the tiles have history. There isn’t a need to adorn the walls with colourful flower art. Minimalism is good too. Good luck.
Best coffee around, and toasted paninis, are again the best, service and staff friendly and attentive need supporting in an area overrun by cafe's as they were one of the first
Came to raven for breakfast with a friend, ordered a Chai latte and scrambled eggs on toast with bacon and avocado. The portion size was huge and the food tasted delicious, specially recommend the scrambled eggs and bacon, probably one of the best I have come across in a cafe. It was a wonderful breakfast and looking forward to go back and try other items on the menu.
Awesome food, Awesome service, Awesome place & the coffee is to die for!!!!!!!!!!! Nice location, covers all bases whether it’s a light snack , brunch or coffee on the go
My husband and I have been to this cafe many, many times. We love the coffee which is always consistent. The people are great, service is excellent and the food is always fresh. The cafe is too small and they should do up out the back which would be a great place to sit in the sun
My experience at Raven at Cook was great. The staff were so nice and welcoming. I'm quite a simple gal so I don't really look for the service of who bring me menu's and sits me down? I like to kinda do it myself. Plus I checked Zomato before I went and knew what I was getting.
I was so satisfied with my meal. I had the "Smashed Avo". The flavours in this dish were so good. The mushrooms were sautéed perfectly. The only thing I will say which I did mention before I left was that the crust of the sourdough was a little too rough for me to cut with a knife which ended up being fine cause I like using my hands anyways 😂😂😂 but great meal, great service.
I had the smashed avocado and a side of pork and fennel sausage - both were nice. The coffee was also great as was the friendly staff. We sat at the bench table facing the shop window, it was quite nice to watch the outside world go by as we enjoyed a nice meal inside this tidy cafe.
Stopped in here to meet a friend in the area. Food was great. Menu was decent with good options. Coffee was so good i had to have two! Will be back next time im in the area
Booked for dinner with a meal for 2 Groupon voucher. We were entitled to one starter, one main and one dessert. It was absolutely delicious and all meals were stunningly presented. I started with the Scallops, they were cooked perfectly and well presented. I then had the tuna, once again perfectly cooked, seared on the side and juicy in the center. Topped it all off with a chocolate fondant and a glass of chardonnay. There were 4 of us in total and every plate was left empty. We all felt guilty it was so cheap!
Great STuff Raven & Cook. We will be back!
Had a regular size flat white for $ 4.00 there. Very pretty foam, but the coffee was a little bit tasteless to me. Very friendly staff, especially thanks to the staff member who pulled out the door for me.
Raven and Cook serves free range meat. I came here because they have quite a few of gluten free options. I ordered the pork belly with quail eggs and my boyfriend got the steak and avocado. They were very generous on the avo, which is always a plus. The food was delicious but the portion was a tad small for the price you pay.
The service was good, they were really friendly and always smilling.
Today at Raven & Cook, we started with roasted potato & onion soup with crispy bacon & char-grilled sourdough, and pan-fried scallops, fennel & orange salad with crispy pancetta. Both were good, but I liked my scallops better. For mains, we had lamb rack & Scotch fillet with salad & roasted kumara croquettes. Quality of beef was not impressive, gravy too thin - in a word, bland. The lamb was a lot better. Mango coconut pudding with tapioca sago & passion fruit granita was nice; chocolate mousse was not smooth. (Food - 3.5/5; Service - 3.5/5; Ambience - 3/5)
So one of the nicest little cafe's I have eaten at. Soft fluffy Pancakes, a massive big breakfast with a straight and true smoothie. So worth the money i spent, coming back for more with Paula Alviola. DO A TIP BOX.
Now opening nights from Thursday to Sunday, their menu has expanded to include delicious mains like steak. I know Valentine's meant to be spent with those you love, so I chose food to be my lover and it surely didn't disappoint. Had the fish main from the new dinner menu and the mango pudding as dessert. Friend had the steak main. Fish was done well, portion size was good, good balance of fish and sides. The steak was beautiful - juicy and perfect medium rare. The pudding was definitely the highlight - it had a runny mango filling! So creative and definitely worth it - huge portion for the dessert!
We visited Raven & Cook for breakfast...allthough outside looked like as if it was a saloon inside is very appealing..ordered banana bread with almond butter and lime chicken sandwich..food was delicious and fresh... plus coffee is great and not to forget whitakers hot chocolate.....service was good... parking can be a problem in evening..wanted to try eggs benedict....but was priced at $24 ....thats the only negative...other items priced reasonably
Good services, staffs were really nice and make me feel like home.
Coffee was great and food were superb. The special menu was really nice.
Love that little place differently will come back again.
Went for a quick brunch this morning and was pleased to be welcomed into a cute cafe. I had the banana coconut loaf with almond butter and ricotta, in which the loaf was gluten free, dairy free and sugar free! The cafe has a lot to offer including gluten free and dairy free options for those who are looking for those meals. There are a few healthy options which is always good aswell as the classic eggs bene, eggs on toast etc. enjoyable meal and will be back again.

Waited 50 minutes for food when there seemed to not be many even eating around us they were mainly on coffee and muffins, both meals had burnt mushrooms and its a pricey big breakfast at $26 too, very disappointed sadly. I was full and the bacon/ eggs were great but the wait and price will stop us from returning sadly and we went as they have black pudding on menu but was not available :(

Had a great Brunch here last time!!!
It was such a rainy day, cold and freezing outside but we are welcome with a big smile by the waitress, she made us some really nicely done coffee to start. The menu is really impressive as for breakfast I always look for something that has a personal touch which is ingredients. So many people don't even noticed it but there is quite a few ingredients there that you really have to forage or grow personally to be able to have it on your menu like nettle leaves and dandelion. Thumbs up as we like fresh and exotic ingredients.
The meals we had was an omelette with spanner crab which is nicely done, the colour was perfect and had generous crab meat in it, also the home made cornbeef hash with perfectly poached eggs has got that lightness and is perfectly seasoned to start the morning right. I wish it could just be a bit warmer on the decor and heating system, i also waited for like half an hour but I enjoyed everything so we will be back.
Keep up the good work!! Hepibreaky!
Went for an early morning breakfast (7am). Good and pleasant service. Great menu selection with all day lunch. Toasted bread was the highlight.
Verdict : will try again
Just discovered this new edition to Epsom and glad we did. Cabinet food delicious, well priced and generous. We didn't order this time around from the menu but amazing variety and twists on the classics. A must try, we will be back for sure.
Oh my fabulous brand new patisserie filled choux pastries which included caramelised popcorn sounds sweet but was just perfect well worth visiting just for one of these
Delicious food. Organic and gluten free choices. Good service. Friendly staff. Clean and tidy cafe. Cafe worth checking out.
This is the best cafe I've found in Auckland for a very long time. Delicious, innovative food, lovely staff and no sweaty Lycra clad customers an added bonus!
Spectacular scallop, sorrel & nettle soup - sounds odd but so so good. And the apple and parsnip soup was equally Delicious. Generous portions and good prices. My 9 and 7 year olds were very happy too. Great coffee. Ill be back for sure.
I have been to this cafe 3 - 4 times now and loved it every time. I am a big fan of Allpress Coffee so needless to say the coffee is good. There is a good range of yum cabinet food as well as a great menu with generous portion sizes. The staff are always friendly and service prompt. I'd recommend this cafe to anyone.
Wow, tried this new Café out on the way back from the airport, was hanging out for a decent coffee! I am so glad I stopped as this area has been crying out for a nice Café, staff were very friendly, service was great and the coffee excellent. Decided to come back a few days later for Brunch and the eggs were excellent. I highly recommend and hope they do well.
I visit this cafe at least once a week, every time i come in I'm greeted by the friendly staff behind the counter. The Barista remembers my coffee order and makes it perfect every time. The food is always yummy and i love how they have new specials regularly, with something unique every time. I would defiantly recommend this cafe to family and friends! Keep up the good work guys!
Raven and Cook is my favourite café in Auckland. It has everything a great café should, great coffee, delicious cabinet food and a relaxed atmosphere. After recently moving from Wellington, Raven & Cook reminds me of my local cafés there. Their chocolate brownies are amazing, as are their donuts and brioche (both sweet and savoury). Yum! They have an interesting brunch/lunch menu and the specials change regularly. Definitely a great place to visit for a coffee date or brunch.
