Delicious authentic food, fast service, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and great prices.
We had such a lovely time there with amazing service and food!
Food is the best! Great Service as well. Worth a visit or 3.
We have always loved Little Tokyo. We try to visit as often as we can and love the way we are treated like family. The food is superb. The takeaways are fantastic also. Great hosts.
Amazing food , great service Richard and Sunny make you feel at home A++++ for the ambience and interior design. Thanks to a friend I now know about this quaint lil gem tucked among the Highland Park Shops.
Fresh food. A huge selection and awesome service. What more could you ask for?
Awesome food, great service with its own unique atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Thank you for a lovely meal, great service and great atmosphere.
Excellent food really friendly people and so cheap. We loved it. Definitely go again. Shaz, keith, Andrew and Carol x
What a great evening at Little Tokyo ! Great food , great service and great value. We will definitely be back :)
My new favorite restaurant. Fabulous stratosphere, fresh food and terrfc Service .... 'll be back
Delicious. And great service
Great food, great prices (Lunch special) their sushi is delicious and their side salad with yum yum sauce! My favorite Japanese spot in East Auckland
First time here today before going to a nearby gym, I decided to have something to eat. Ordered the steamed gyoza, fried squid, and takoyaki. The gyoza was good, a bit average. The squid and takoyaki were nice. A bit pricey as I paid $28 for everything but overall I got really full lol. 🤭
Came here for a quick lunch and got the chicken katsu don for $9.90 as it was the lunch special. It was super tasty and very filling! Comes with miso soup and a salad so it's very good value. Will definitely come back here!
Ambiance was soo nicee! I loved the cherry tree decorations. The photos everywhere looked so nice! Sadly, when I went with a friend we didn't get to have one tho.
Pamela and I decided to try Little Tokyo for lunch. What a great choice, we had spicy pork fried rice and a soup dish FANTASTIC. The staff were great and the food very tasty. Can't wait to go there again this time for dinner. Well done

owner was super friendly !! The food was amazing, would come back here again, great customer service and the prices are good for what you get!!
Would recommend! Has a cute decor, excellent service and staff are very friendly. Worth the price. Miso soup and rice are also free, which is a bonus. This restaurant is great for eating alone and for eating with friends, as it's cute and a little tucked away from all the noise
This is the most adorable little Japanese restaurant ever! The atmosphere is is warm and friendly as the owners are so welcoming and had plenty of great suggestions for us to try, also the set up is aesthetically appealing with the walls and sealings covered with cherry blossoms & branchs with Polaroid snaps of many happy customers smiling back at you.
The food is affordable, tasty and perfect for sharing between two people, so I Would highly suggest this restaurant for date night! You won’t be disappointed:)
The place, the food, the staff, the aesthetics were all top-notch and amazing. This Japanese restaurant is instagram worthy. If your looking for a restaurant where the food looks good on camera, then this is the place for you. The ambience and atmosphere of the place is all top-notch. The staff were super friendly and accommodating, especially the tall, korean guy. The food were also amazing. It's a fusion flavours of Japanese and Korean, and the flavours blended super well with each other. One of the best Japanese restaurant in Auckland. I would for sure go back here with my friends and family.
----A MUST TO GO HERE!!!!--------
If you like cherry blossoms, the aesthetics of this charming place will make your heart swell! It feels like you're picnicking at Cornwall Park when it's cherry blossom season 🌸🌸 there's also a really cute wall filled with Polaroids of previous customers.
The teriyaki beef don was pretty good value, considering it came with heaps of rice, a side salad and a bowl of miso soup. For something named teriyaki beef don, I was expecting more beef and was kinda confused when my rice came out with a giant fried egg on top. It was really nice - pretty much a bit of teriyaki beef, and some lovely carrot and onion mixed in with a fried egg - but I thought I'd get, a fair bit more meat and some sticky teriyaki sauce.
The cool katsu set was a bit more expensive than the donburi, and not very filling. The way it was served looked very Japanese, and really captured the novelty dipping experience of tsukemen.
Love this place :) a regular visitor with my boyfriend and the food is cheap and tasty plus the staff are lovely too! Highly recommend the curry chicken
Awesome little place that is very nicely decorated with decent sized portions at a great price. Have visited many times - would recommend the don buri, chicken katsu curry and side of tempura. Service is great, however food doesn't come out as fast as I'm used to - but it's worth the wait.
The food was ok and I went to here at least 20times. The service is good and people are friendly. Not cheap , 2 Koreans run this little bar. I mean the food is ok but not tasty.
Hidden in a corner at Highland Park is a korean/japananese fusion restaurant. Ordered curry katsu and teppanyaki beef. All was tasty, mains come with a serving of salad and rice. Parking is aplenty so yay!
Looking for a place to eat between late appointments. Stumbled across Little Tokyo. Find!
Lovely little Japanese restaurant, lovingly decorated, and most importantly, lovely food.
Very gracious hosts.
Food (chicken bento) very quickly made and beautifully presented. Aragato
I play badminton at nearby Lloyd Elsmore Park on Wednesday nights, and my friend picks me up here before we go (as I catch the bus from the city after work). The restaurant is in a bit of an obscure location, wedged in a retail block between the two Countdown stores. Beautiful decor (particularly the cherry blossoms worked through the ceiling area) and clearly many very happy customers, judging by the hundreds of instant photos all over the store. They do dine in or takeaway. The food is very tasty, I would recommend their curry which is delicious. The man who runs the store with his wife (? I assume) is very friendly, and given I have been here a couple of times now on the same nights, he recognises me when I come in and I get the same table. Will definitely keep coming back as I work my way through their menu!
The owners are so lovely, place is welcoming and beautifully decorated. Food is delicious and excellent value, would definitely return again.

Nice little local restaurant with good food. My dinner bento set was excellent. The tofu entree was delicious. Chicken katsu ramen was good. I was surprised that food came fairly quickly even though there was only 2 people running the place. The owner seems to have to do everything. So overall I am happy with the service and love the food. Will come back.
Great place for Japanese food! Got the lunch box, fried udon and donbiri. All was pretty good except the udon was a bit salty. Otherwise, a nice little place with great ambience and service.
I live 10 min from this place and I can't believe I've never been here before. The decor inthisbolace is so beautiful! The flowers hanging from the roof and the pictures in the wall make it so quaint :) the food is delicious too! I got the salmon donburi, good amount for the price as well :) I would definitely come back
Cute little place. Decor gives it a nice atmosphere. Food is freshly made and is affordable. Highly recommend if you're out for a good mix of Japanese food!
What can I say? Top food, great attentive service, nice atmosphere! Katsu chicken? Great! Tempura prawns yummmm!! Just need slightly larger portions and then they would have been 5/5.
I love this place great food, quiet and scenery is beautiful with a cherry blossom tree and the waiter takes note of his customers which is amazing :D#zomatostudents
A cute little Japanese place that serves pretty good food. The highlight of this place would be the ambiance. Love the cherry blossom trees placed by the ceiling, creating an awning as we eat- wish I remembered to take a photo.
Last night we got the teriyaki chicken noodles and the prawn Katsu don. I really enjoyed my don. It was surprisingly tasty in that tiny bowl, I just wished they put the prawns on top and not under the egg as it lost a lot of its crunch.
The teriyaki chicken noodle also had nice flavour but we did find some unexpected ingredients in there- beef. We didn't mind it, but it wouldn't have been a nice welcome for someone who's allergic to beef. Not very attentive on their part.
Service is okay. Mainly run by the owner who had to run around a lot. Overall, not a bad place to dine. May be back some time in the distant future :)
Great little place- good food. I had the $14.50 fish katsu and my husband had the dinner box. He thought the spicy pork was a little too spicy for his taste.Came quickly. More than enough food. Came with miso soup, rice and salad included. Great little local place.
Lovely food. Some of the best Japanese I've eaten in Auckland. There were 5 of us there for lunch today and we ordered Bento boxes with teriyaki chicken, Ramen noodles and teppanyaki chicken. The manager is wonderful and along with amazing service, took our photo for the photo wall which I love! Have been to Little Tokyo once before and will definitely be going back again. Totally recommend.
Went there on Thursday night to celebrate my friends farewell dinner - I love to have sushi and i had the salmon and avocado one and by far Little Tokyo is the best place i have been to for any Japanese meal:-) - and great value for money too - totally recommend it:-)
Amazing food! And great service ? so cheap considering the quality of the food! Ordered the mixed tempura, chicken fried rice and yakatori chicken and all i can say is WOW.! So filling too! The ambience in this place is just great! The flowers hanging off the roof and photos of customers hanging from wall to wall with notes. Lovely staff!
Will deffinately be back for more.!
Nice cheap easy meal compared to other Japanese places around east Auckland! Will defiantly be going back in the near future.
We love Little Tokyo and the service is beyond compare. I always feel like I have been invited in to their home to eat. The food is beautiful and have never been disappointed by anything we have eaten there. We have tried most things on their menu and it is all amazing.
My husband and I have recently moved around the corner and were on a hunt out for a local Japanese place. Little Tokyo certainly did not disappoint! Delicious food (their agedashi tofu is incredible) and amazing, friendly and personal service - during our first visit they took a photo of us for their photo wall (which is full considering they only opened late last year) and asked for our names. Will definitely be back, couldn't be more impressed.
Lovely people and great food.
One of the best Japanese restaurants I've been to!!
I have visited the few times at the beginning of their opening and been frequently visiting these days when I want to eat out. Their food quality and service is still wonderful.
I did see that they changed the menu around a bit and I love it even more.
They have great price for the quality and quantity of food you get.
I have and would highly recommend the restaurant to my friends.
This is so far our favourite restaurant in Auckland. While out for a drive around the bays, we stumbled across it when looking for dinner for us and our 2.5 year old. We live 20 minutes away so not exactly our local. However it has been our best find. This is a small family operated business (run by a lovely family who now remember us) and delivers beautiful Japanese food every time, along with the excellent service which we have come to expect at a Japanese restaurant. We regularly make a special trip just to have dinner here. Cannot fault the food, the bento box is superb value for money and they are soooo accommodating with requests for children, such as half portion of sushi or noodles. Ask them for their rice balls which aren't on the menu. Perfect bite size rice balls which they produced for my son on our first visit and he has asked for each subsequent visit and then demolishes. The sashimi is also delicious.
Check out their photo wall. They have been taking Polaroids of customers ( which you can write a comment on) since they opened and these have increased tenfold since we first dined there. Word is getting out and so it should. We really love dining at Little Tokyo.
Delicious food. Affordable prices. Excellent service, and food comes out quickly so we don't have to wait too long. My favourite Japanese restaurant to go for dinner! Can't wait to show my friends and family this place.
Very good place to eat some lovely food. May be a bit on the pricey side but the portions are big and very good flavors Service was quick and the chef owner was friendly enough. Will go again and highly recommend this place if you want some authentic Japanese food. .
Great little Japanese spot. The times we have been it has been quiet. The food is fresh and not too expensive. Also cool is they have Polaroids hung up of past visitors, and if you ask them they'll take a picture of you!
I'm writing this review many years to late ... I first went to Little Tokyo in 2015 when a friend of mine invited me.I've been there many times since. The first thing that struck me was how well the space was designed . The Cherry Blossom tree with the photos made the experience unique. Richard and Sunny were great hosts, welcoming and friendly. The food is well priced and delicious. I had the KatsuCurry with a fee of the starters . They get really busy so it pays to call ahead if you'll are a big group. Our family recently(July end 2018) went to celebrate my sisters birthday, we called ahead and were even given complementary dessert when they realised there was a birthday in the family. If you like a limited menu Japanese Restaurant that is ambient and well liked out in East Auckland , this would be your spot! Thank you Richard and Sunny :)
We found this place by accident. Liked the cheery blossom tree decor with the instant photos which attract us into the restaurant.
The food was delicious and filling with friendly service and we'll definitely will be back again.
Extremely friendly service, atmosphere is nice. Food is great, pricing is okay, but the portion size is a little small for its pricing other than that great place
Friendly, fast service. Best Japanese food in East Auckland. Obviously a subjective view.
The food is really good here with very friendly service . Great table seating
Lovely food and polite service. Will definitely become a regular destination for us
The taste of every dish is increadable. Highly recommend.
Impressive sized special lunches, delicious katsudon and sesame salad.
