Absolutely our favorite place! Great food and great service, we'll worth the 50 kilometre drive.
Always amazing food I've been going there for years now it's my sons favorite we now go there every year on his bday to celebrate its always his first choice! Family friendly and the staff are awesome!
Great value for money - delicious food too !!
First time trying Chois, owners are very friendly, well priced for the potions. A variety of side dishes. Interior prob needs a little reno. All in all good local korean bbq joint
Speed: 4/5 Quick
Taste:4/5 Delicious $10 Meals
Place:4/5 Old but clean
Price:5/5 Cheap $10 for lunch
Staff:5/5 Very Friendly To us because we are regulars
This will always be my fave restaurant and fave owners! Missing you Mr. and Mrs. Choi! Tried Korean food for the very first time from them and I have not stopped falling in love with Korean dishes! And the Choi’s special sauce to go with bbq meat??? Maaan so good!! definitely recommend 😍
This is a cute small restaurant - first time visiting today with my partner and baby ( we had #11 and 4 cans of sprite). The side dish portions look small, but by the end of the meal we were very full! Loved the service from Mrs Choi who kept checking how we were doing. Also love the special sauce, havent had anything like it yet! So yummy.
Choi's would be in my top 10 favourite places to eat. Very simple food but so tasty. Meat is all ways fresh and cooked on the table. This places is prefect for gym goers who want to eat a lot of protein and low carbs. I normal eat here once a month with 2 of my mates and it cost us around $50 each. Never had a bad experience so far.
Choi's Korean bbq is a cute little restaurant, and has a very quiet atmosphere.
We ordered the chicken, beef and pork 3 meats dish which included your standard sides of kimchi, sweet potato, seaweed pancake, sprouts and coleslaw and a side salad.
The marinade on the meats was minimum so the flavours weren't that exciting, but the meat was prepared well and was cooked at your table for you. The chicken was my favourite, being the most flavoursome of the 3 meats. They refilled side dishes and rice bowls on request free of charge and the food was brought and prepared in a timely manner.
Overall a pleasant dining experience but nothing too exciting or stand out. I'd say this place would be good for a quick group dinner where you want something different that will still please everybody.
They used to have $10 lunchtime specials for most of the cooked dishes which was really nice because the servings were large. Sadly, the prices have risen last time I went but the food is still great and you'll definitely leave feeling very full.
Great, place, I'm much like Louise down below. Have been coming here for a few years now with family and highly recommend this restaurant for a fix of Korean BBQ. Mr Choi has not changed over the years, he knows his regulars, and is loyally cordial with them in his own special way. All of the dishes are tasty, full of flavor and the right mix of salads and entrees make food from here, quite delicious. Long live Choi's BBQ in Meadowlands ! :) :) :)
Love the portions here at choi bbq he helps
You cook the food! Great service and good food just sad that he charges you for extra side dishes
Visited Chois on Friday night, was quite busy so had to wait just under 5 minutes for a table. Lacked communication probably due to a significant language barrier but it would be cool if someone fluent in English would be able to greet us and give a possible waiting time for a table.
We got the $36 beef, pork and lamb platter also came with different plates of vegetables and Korean delicacies such as kimchi. Also ordered two sodas for drinks. The drinks and food came out quickly which was good as we were quite hungry. The only let down on the food was we felt the meat was not marinated enough (or at all) which was quite bland but the side sauce gave it a bit more flavor.
Overall the portions were really good for the price we paid (we didn't end up finishing it all) and both left really full.
Would definitely recommend this place rather than other Korean BBQ places (especially those in town that are very expensive and less portion sizes).
Fresh, fantastic service and will definitely come again! We ordered a seafood BBQ for two pax, bibimbap and tofu soup. The side dishes could be better.
Love the service, food and free water and soup. We had the 35 dollar two person meal and it was great! I loved this place. Would go again. You could choose what you could get and the variety was good and the food was fresh and cooked well. The lady would help you. I've been twice.
Haven't dined at Choi's for a while, but we must say the quality and service are always consistently good! Place is always very tidy and clean, and food arrives promptly and well cooked by the owner himself (we ordered BBQ set for two people, which were cooked in front of us). The 5 entree dishes are always delicious, too. Nothing beats excellent customer service and good food on a Sunday evening, when you just want to sit back and relax. Will definitely be coming back with the whole family.
Great Food and Service
What a great little restaurant. Yummy authentic food and great value. Will be definitely be going back soon. Cooked on a hot plate in front of you with many side dishes and dipping sauces.
We decided to come here for something hot for a change. Had the lunch special squid, Beef and seafood BBQ grill. Loved the food and service was excellent.
Portion size was big, side dishes are fresh and good for value.
Always love going to Chois and getting the Hot stone bowl and a number ten, its a quaint funny place and Mr Choi really does make you feel welcome.
Yes you would think it is a cook your own kind of deal but Mr Choi doesnt want you getting ill from undercooked food so expect him to come over and tell you when its OK to eat what has been cooking in front of you
I have been to Choi's Restaurant for over 14 years now. The food is still as great as ever. Mr. Choi remains mysteriously the same after all these years! He hasn't changed at all I swear! Mr. Choi is still serving us with that funny, cute, gruffness. That's what makes him so endearing.
Portion sizes are a bit smaller, I've noticed, but that's understandable considering the inflation in food prices over these years. Despite this, I still felt really full from my meal. The quality of the food is still amazing as ever. I'm definitely going to remain a loyal old-timer of this place.
This place has to be one of my favorite Korean restaurant in Auckland. The price is really reasonable, and Mr and Mrs Choi are always smiling and their service is amazing. I really love their secret sauce. I love ordering fish, pork and beef bbq plate and dipping it in the sauce... so delicious!
If you haven't been to this place, you should definitely check this place out.
This has to be our fav place to eat. The price is fantastic, the food is amazing you just need to learn how to use chopsticks to really enjoy it! Choi is such a nice host and same with the rest of the staff. I reckon he will have to look for a bigger venue soon because everytime we go (even on days that most people don't go out) it always gets busy! Word is getting around about this place... and the soy sauce? It's the one thing my husband says he goes there just for that! It's that good. Great place to have a date night or a couple of mates to dine with.
I eat at Choi's most weeks. Service is always pleasant and speedy, food consistently good and well priced, boiled dumplings are delicious. I have now brain washed my three young children who now love the dumplings too.
I have been going to Chois Korean BBQ for over 10years and the food is always great as is the service. It's the kind of place you always bump into someone you know and once you take someone there they will always want to go back.
The Beef is to die for as is the Ox tongue and the Stonebowl Rice is another favourite
great for a $10 lunch special of korean bbq beef with chilli served with rice and side dishes!
not quite the value for money for their dinner menu though
Even before I started with google review this was already one of my favorite places. Now I am back here again. Although there had been a change of management but all the traditions have been well followed and maintained, still is the same delicious BBQ flavor as I remembered. It is very lucky for both the restaurant and for me!
Have been going here for a couple years now with my partner. Literally the best food. We go every week on a Friday or Saturday and the price is really good. Recommend getting a stone bowl ( fried rice) and beef, lamb pork on the hot bowl.
Phenomenal Korean Food. The staff are really friendly and will give suggestions for those new to Korean Cuisine. The Korean BBQ dinners are a phenomenal meal. The Squid dish is a must try
A cheap and cheerful. Haven't been for a long time but has simple food that's healthier than most. A good spot to take kids.
Excellent spare ribs, beef and chicken! Very attentive service and good sides/condiments. We’ll be back!
Great food my favourite Korean BBQ.The only thing sad is they cook the food for you they should have a option.
Delicious. Prepared at the table. Tender, sweet, succulent, fresh, moist... Homey...Go 7.30ish Sunday evening
love chois. been going for 8 years. new owner has done a good job so far since Choi retired.
The food and service was really amazing. Kimchi’s great and I love the prawns.
Traditional Korean dishes, Authentic and really good taste at a very reasonable price.
Amazing meal for a group! Everything's so nice and Mr Choi is great!
Mr. Choi will serve and bbq your food too...good food & good service!
Bbq in middle of table, so you can watch your food being cooked. Quick easy food.
