I don’t eat out much in Auckland but this place seriously was the best dining experience I’ve had. The food was insane and so good for sharing. So flavourful and tasty. Also hands down the coolest toilet experience I’ve ever had too. Has to be said. Has enough variety for simple and more experimental dishes. Well worth the price and experience. They also made my dads birthday super special and Aneri the owner was so lovely and made the night so special. YOU MUST GO HERE! GET THE LAMB CHOPS TOO! LAMB LAMB LAMB!

I came for a meal with a group (7) last night, and enjoyed a superb meal. The selection of street food options is varied, delicious, and beautifully presented. Who'd have thought cauliflower could be so good! Everything was full of flavour; the butter chicken and fish and prawn curry, next level! Shared dishes is the way to go, to try lots of different flavours, but save room for dessert. This restaurant is tastefully cool but relaxed. (The toilets must be mentioned too. An experience!) Great people, excellent service, fabulous food, wine and atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

Very cool restaurant with amazing ambience on Ponsonby road. Busy but wasn’t overly loud despite this and it was still easy to hear your guests! We tried most of the vegan options, with the cauliflower Manchurian being the absolute highlight! Well presented good and we certainly left feeling full. Hopefully more vegan options will come on the menu so we can come again soon :) p.s you also must check out the toilets. It’s like being transported to Mumbai

I absolutely can't contain my excitement about our incredible evening at Mumbaiwala in Auckland! It was an absolute delight from start to finish. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the service was simply outstanding. Our entire experience was beyond exceptional, and we're over the moon that we chose Mumbaiwala during our time in Auckland. Without a doubt, we'll be returning here in the future. It was a night to remember, filled with happiness and delicious memories!

Had a dinner date here. Nice clean restaurant, love the theme & lighting set the ambiance. we were shown to our table where we looked at the menu's. After ordering our drinks arrived quickly with our entrée not far behind. Ordered cauliflower Manchurian based on other reviews, and it was so delicious! Our mains arrived about 15min later and were ok. Servings were good size too.

I cannot recommend heading here if you haven't already been (or again if you have, it's that good). We took our parents and, I'll be honest, pleasing Pakistani parents who know their 'desi' food inside out is a difficult task - especially when you have a mother whose authentic Pakistani cooking is beyond what you'd find in any Indian restaurant! I don't think I've seen our parents so pleased with a meal from start to finish. Genuinely stoked to see them enjoy it because they often don't go beyond in terms of culinary adventures outside of their usual comforts, so this was a victory to say the least. We ordered a plethora of items from the Small Platters and Tandoor, with stand outs being the Lamb Chops, Sev Puri, Tandoori Broccolli and Prawns but honestly, there was no loser. Moving onto the more bigger dishes - Murgh Makhni (i.e. Butter Chicken) that is hands down the best butter chicken I've ever tasted here that doesn't shy away from a bit more spice and texture than what you'd usually expect. Flavour on point, not overly sweet. Bloody gorgeous! And then the Paneer Karahi, which definitely turned up the heat a bit and was cooked so well, melt in your mouth paneer and flavour just everywhere. We also got the Chef's Special Chicken Biryani, which was a delight. We had no room for dessert but I'll having the Cardamom and Coconut Kulfi next time. Exceptional food. Stomachs full. We will most certainly be heading back soon.

The place is live and energetic just like the city of Mumbai. Really loved the aesthetics and interior of the place. It will take you to the Mumbai visit for a brief time. You can see a glimpse of Mumbai in stainless steel glasses to the staff uniform. The food is delicious and the menu is full with hand picked items. Specifically the “Dabeli” which is hard to get in this part of the world but glade to see it in the menu and, satisfied after having it. Good options for vegetarian people. kadai paneer is must try dish. The customer service is excellent. Staff and the owner are very polite & professional. A must visit place.

Not bad. Had the lamb curry and plain naan. Nice ambience. Could be more authentic. Too catered for local taste

Lovely vibe to the restaurant! Food can be a bit better, the chat items taste good but the food portion is really small. The mains and the cocktails can be a bit better in taste. The food portions don’t do justice to the price. Giving 1/2 a star extra for service.

Have been meaning to try Mumbaiwala for a while now. Always looks like a happening and busy restaurant. Ther service is kinda slow and needs basic improvements but the food is quite good. We were not too impressed the starters of mumbai chicken and aloo chat but the mains were divine. Would not recommend the Butter chicken if you don't like sweet curries as it was quite sweet and no where near a good one. The Sali boti and lamb chops are way too good and definitely made up for the starters.

Very good food but made all the better by the staff and decor. Especially rate the toilets. Lots of them, clean and nice but the decor makes them look like authentic Mumbai Train Toilets haha 👍 Recommend.

My partner took me here for my birthday last night. It was awesome. Everything we tried last night was really great. I bit overpriced but i also believe is the location. Overall good food and nice service from the staff. I loved the aloo tikki and the tandoori paneer. 5 starts for the naans. <3 we will come back.

It was a beautiful nostalgic moment to visit a place close to India. The food is halal and authentic Indian. However, the tea was not up to the mark, and the person serving us asked us to pick the dishes when we were done with our dinner. Not a trait of good customer service, especially in the hospitality industry.

Take a trip to Mumbaiwala, Ponsonby’s latest modern Indian restaurant. 2 kingfishers later and an array of South Indian inspired delights Dahi puri, deep fried prawns, tandoori lamb cutlets in a spice that is not for the spice shy but super tasty nonetheless. We finished with a fish and prawn curry from goa, chicken biriyani and a classic garlic naan. I took a quick trip to the lavatory to discover one of the most unique bathrooms in Auckland. The sound of trains on a track was playing on repeat through the speaker and the toilet had a chain to flush which was added to the experience. It felt like I was in an old coach travelling across India. Desserts were next level: chocolate naan was the most memorable but the chai was a bit of a let down unfortunately. All in all was a good night out and definitely worth checking out. Sterling Arnet Kakapo Business Sales

Loved their curries, Mumbai chicken and garlic naan! Would definitely come back here, one of the best Indian meals I’ve had in Auckland.
