It's not somewhere I'd go to hang out but the chocolate cheese cake is worth a stop in. The lady behind the til is lovely and friendly so waiting for takeaways is easy. I also recommend the award winning chocolate milkshake, a bit expensive when you buy it but once you taste it and realize how much chocolate went into it and you'll understand the price.
Absolutely love their ice creams, milk shakes, coffees and pastries. Whenever I visit, I like to try something new and I'm never disappointed.
I’ve lived in Avondale for years and meant to pop into this place on the strength of their “award-winning milkshake” banners but never quite made it. What a mistake! Despite the odd, dark-looking location next to a roundabout the shaded verandah was perfectly cool and breezy on a hot day, and the sweet treats in the cabinet looked AMAZING!
I only intended to get a real-fruit milkshake for my daughter, but somehow also ended up ordering a slice of Whittaker’s Dark Ghana cheese cake which was to die for - rich, creamy and just sweet enough. The milkshake was pretty good too.
My husband later joined us for a iced coffee and muffin - disappointingly the blueberry muffin seemed to only have blueberries on top, although the texture was otherwise nice.
Also a hit was the little plastic toy slide on the verandah which kept Miss 2 entertained for AGES!
I’m definitely planning to return when we need something cold to get us through a hot summer’s afternoon.
Friendly staff and awesome ice cream, can't go wrong! Been there several times and have yet to be disappointed. Lovely selection of sweet treats that keep each visit exciting.
Amazing place to visit :-) there are only few places where you can food of your choice and this is one of the best one .

Even the staff is so helpful and so soft spoken . that we would definitely want to go here again and again.
Every time I pass by the Great North road I make a point to stop by this very cosy shop @ the corner of Avondale Roundabout. Now it’s kind of getting a habit lately. Weired!!!
My recommendation is Whitakers Chocolate Milk Shake which is surely a heavenly divine for which they have won the 1st prize. I would be surprised if they wouldn’t have. But the friendly staff enlightened me that this is the second year in a row winning the 1st prize apparently last year they won for Strawberry milk shake. Which is really great as their R&D team is surely doing a good job. I am sure they must have the top notch team to come up with even better products every year.

Cute lil place on the corner of a busy road. Best parking is behind one of the roundabout exits.
We ordered the baklava and a slice of their triple cheesecake. Both were delicious. The shakes came out quickly and omg. You just have to try it. It's. Chocolate orgasm in your mouth. You can definitely taste the Whittaker's Dark Choc but there is no bitterness as if nicely balance with a dreamy creaminess.
I did not scoff mine down. I savoured every sip, even on the way home and once we got home!!! It's that good.

Stooped for a real fruit ice cream on way to New Lynn. Shop looks bit dark from outside but inside it's OK. may be black color or very old building..

I have bought mango ice cream, they made fresh for me.. big and yum..
My partner have tried their choco dream.. Whittaker's chocolate milkshake... have to wait but worth it... Devine...they are winner of NZ's best milkshake for a reason. .. haven't tried their award winning milkshake yet.. may be next time..

Very good place.Very friendly and welcome owner. We ordered the green Chicken tikka kebab with safron rice and tandoori Tikka. It was bloody delicious. Big solid chunks of meat and very nice nutty salad with amazing mint yoghurt condiments. This topped off with a real fruit strawberry icecream omg was amazing. Highly recommended, the owner puts alot of work into quality, hand makes the cakes even. Really did not expect this amazing food at a cafe. be sure to try the tasty Northern Indian style chicken on thursdays to saturday. This is not a promotion. I simply just had an amazing experience.
