Cozy, friendly and delicious. I’ve been told they’re the best German sausages in Auckland. The dishes are fantastic and are pretty authentic. Waiter was very attentive and kind. Interesting location as it’s in the middle of an industrial park but there’s a ton of parking.”
Great place for kids, too.
I went by myself a year ago. Owner was very pleasant without being pushy with me and looking at the menu. I ordered the full pig knuckle and it was really worth it - couldn't finish the whole thing and took home like half of it. The ambience was really nice and mellow and comfortable, almost homely.
I went again yesterday with some friends, and neither the standard of food nor the services have changed. We really enjoyed our time catching up. We got sausage platter, and a dessert each. The beesting was interesting, though a friend thought it was a bit too hard (like the texture was off)
It's really decent price for the portions and quality of food.
Came here for lunch recently. Pleasant place. Friendly atmosphere. Spacious and comfortable sitting arrangement. Suitable for family gathering. Service was friendly and we liked the food. If you are in the area and keen to have some delicious German food, do not miss this place. I know you will have a good time.
‘Zere is no doubt zat zis restaurant ish qwuite ze interesting pick. Mitten Drin vas our choiz because of its capability to accommodate a zubstantial group of people. Und it deed not dizappoint in zis regard. It also managed to deliver exquizite bratwurst, shnitzel, und ztroghanoff.

Exceptional food. Not good, bloody amazing. The beer sauce is like the nectar of the gods. The mashed potato can't be faulted. It's perfect. The sausage was tasty, well seasoned and made with love. My wife had the $13 pork schnitzel. It was huge and came with chips, sauce and coleslaw. Just amazing.
Great service and great food.
Wholesome food at a good price.
We were allowed to bring our puppy to the outdoor section which was very accommodating.
Pictured: lamb shanks, chicken salad, chicken burger.
Everyone loved their meal and not a bite was left on the plate.
The chicken burger had a large crispy chicken patty and the cheese was melted in perfectly. The buns had butter (maybe herb or garlic butter) melted in which is a tip I will use at home.
Fantastic food, great value for money and very family friendly. Nice big portions and friendly staff. The sausage trio with the soft pretzel and sauerkraut is to die for, and even better washed down with some nice German beer. Everyone else loved their dishes too, as well as the desserts.
A wonderful restaurant and we’ll definitely be back.
Authentic German meals with matching drinks (German beers and non-alcoholic beverages). Cozy and clean restaurant. Family friendly with toy box for small kids. I very enjoy the pork knuckle, schnitzel, sausages. Simply yummy. Definitely will visit again.
I recently visited Mitten Drin, a German restaurant in my neighborhood, and had a great time. One of the things that stood out to me about the restaurant was its funky interior design. It had a cool, modern vibe while still feeling authentically German with its wooden beams and cozy alcoves.
The service at Mitten Drin was excellent. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that you could order electronically from your table. This was especially convenient given the current pandemic and the need for contactless options.
When it came to the food, Mitten Drin did not disappoint. I ordered the pork hock platter and was blown away by the generous portions and the quality of the meat. The sausage and sauerkraut were also delicious and tasted like they were made with traditional recipes. To wash it all down, I had a big stein of beer on tap, which was cold and refreshing.
Overall, I had a very enjoyable evening at Mitten Drin. The food was great, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was fun and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a taste of authentic German cuisine.
All I can say is I need to go back to try more dishes. The Big Pork nuckle with a beer sause was OUT OF THIS WORLD. 🤤🍻
Finally made it to Mitten Drin and now wish I would have gone a lot sooner! As this was my first visit, this review is based on a small selection of the food only.
The pork knuckle (Schweinshaxe) is really good, crispy and crunchy on the outside, juicy and tender inside and well, but not over-seasoned nor is it too salty. Very delicious!
Pretzel aka Bretzel is authentic with substance and seems like it was well made from scratch. Even though I really liked it, it was outshone by a very simple, yet impactful “knuspriges Knoblauchbrot wie von Mutti” (crunchy garlic bread just like mum used to make) that wasn’t soggy or dripping nor too dry, but just right instead… Yummy!
With great sadness I have to report I was way too full for desert but had three bites of the Apfelstrudel anyway. Very nice!
Beware! I will be back! Next time I’m really keen on a Schnitzel and want to check, if the fantastic claims about the Tiramisu can hold up.
Managed to barge in on a super busy night, yet staff were really friendly and onto it. Respect.
If I had to nitpick, I’d say, I wish I would have had a steak knife or similar to better deal with the delicious pork knuckle crackling.
Tschüß und bis demnächst 🤝 (bye and see ya next time)
You know a place is good when you want to come back before finishing your meal!
My partner and I came here for Dinner on a Friday evening. Food was so delicious! The sausages definitely the winner on the menu here. Excellent value for money too! A lot of food for the total cost.
Wasnt too busy either being a Friday. This place has a nice feel to it as well, feels homely and warm. The decor is very cute! Excellent service here too, very friendly and welcoming.
What a gem of a place, will definitely be back the service was amazing so warm and friendly. The food was amazing, especially loved the little salad 🥗 you get great surprise. We came for mother's day and wasn't disappointed. We had the sausage platter and the beef schnitzel so delicious and the serving size was large. We also had a German beer 🍺 that was so refreshing 😋

We love their pork hackle, sausage, and also a dessert to share for 2. It's great to have great food even late afternoon. Quality and valuable. Easy to park a car. Highly recommend.
Good atmosphere and kids friendly. Very big portion and nice taste. Its my first time having German food and will definitely come again.
If you look for authentic German food, go here. Weisswurst or Meatloaf or Rouladen or bratwurst, pork knuckles, you get it all with an really authentic taste. German beer makes it a real German experience.
Tasty and authentic meals. Lovely staff who genuinely enjoy their job and provided an easy solution for my DF, GF friend. Great value for money. A smart restaurant doing important things well. No fuss, easy access setting where you can actually hear your dining companions! Delicious sausage dual and the pumpkin walnut waffle was a revelation. Thank you:)
