Very friendly wait person. Generous strong coffee and delicious filo tart with homemade tomato relish.
They do a great pancake with cream, maple syrup and such nice fruits on top, like five different types of fruit! You can get bacon instead of fruit if you’re not a fruit person.
This place seems to have upped it's game since another cafe opened across the road. The coffee is more consistent and the food is more inspiring. The courtyard area should be lovely but feels neglected.
Good family place to relax and have a coffee if you live nearby. They also have a courtyard where you can go with your dog. Good food and friendly staff.
I am a regular here and have only had positive experiences. The owners are always friendly and the cakes are amazing, so much better that what you'd get from a chain cafe. They are always patient and welcoming with my very needy little dog too! Great local cafe to support.
I seriously suspect that some of these negative reviews are not authentic, especially since the wording of some reviews is suspiciously similar to others - almost as if the same person is writing them. The coffee is better than most places and the food is excellent.
This is my local and I come here semi regularly. It's a small cafe so it can fill up quickly, usually on a weekend morning it can be hard to get a seat. The food is great and the coffee's good. Dog friendly and good service.
Thought we would try this small local today as I was craving pancakes. OMG not sure I've come across a better or more tasty home made food place. Great portion sizes for the price and everything was delicious.
Could do with an update if you cared but if you are there for the food then tables don't matter.

I was a restaurateur and had a 150 top restaurant from Cuisine mag. Internet review sites are usually a megaphone for the foolish, arrogant and uninformed, and as such results in moaning, negativity and bitchiness. Restaurants are not there to solve your life problems or enhance your ego, but many subconsciously think they are. This is the only review I have ever posted, and will possibly be my last.
There is something special going on here in this cafe as the chef owner is producing the food he grew up with. France should be so very proud of this hard working and dedicated gift to new Zealand. All the food is hand made with fine French tradition, that is why everything one can buy there is just that much better. Croissants are hand made on the tiny premises (just try this at home!), this is something one has to experience. Fine French food has a magical balance of ingredients and technique, and if you are a person who can tell the difference (which some below obviously cannot, and please do stay away as there are very few seats) treat yourself at an unbelievable bargain price to this wonderfully simple and unpretentious cafe; its just like the real France! I know why your eggs were microwaved: French scrambled eggs should be served slightly 'snotty', this is not always to the Kiwi liking, but is how it is done in France. So, your complaint was met with a like response in my opinion. Would you go to Japan and complain your sushi was room temperature and the fish raw? I once shielded a complaint from a woman that her red wine was room temperature; it is amazing what things a restaurateur has to endure.
I simply love this cafe!! The service is friendly and always welcoming, and the food is amazing. Great coffee, lovely outdoor seating, and THE best lemon tarts in the whole of Auckland!! Make sure you go, you can't go wrong with this place :)
Initially I was a bit apprehensive after reading the below however this cafe is very nice. Visited on a sunny sat, excellent parking available, friendly staff and tables outside. Ordered the bagel with tomato, which was reasonably priced and tasty, good coffee. Staff were attentive with water etc. I feel this place has been given a bit of a hard rap and given it's the only cafe in Beach Haven it needs local support. It is also dog friendly.
Au Bon Coin is one of the gems of our unique Beach Haven community. Great place to go for authentic French Quiche and great coffee.

Staff very friendly and efficient. The food was a real discovery. I had a delicious salmon tarte flambee, similar to a pizza, liberally covered with smoked salmon, cream cheese and spinach, magnifique! A big meal for only $13. The coffee was strong and hot, and the homemade patisseries are to die for. The café is small, with only two indoor tables, a bit shabby on the inside, and unattractive on the outside. But the food is great value and beautifully presented with a real French flair.
The food here is dangerously delicious. I never imagined a wrap could taste so good. Coffee is always made to a high standard. Portions of the dine in meals are generous. Happy to have this as a weekend staple!

Go here mostly Fridays as I work from home and live just ten minutes drive. Friendly owners. Nice bon coin cafe with good hot chocolate, coffee and slices.

Supporting Local! The Chocolate Caramel Slice and Almond Mocca from Au Bon Coin Cafe Patisserie were divine. Love all of their gluten free treats. Have also enjoyed cooked breakfasts on the weekends which are always generous portions and so yummy!

Today I had a lovely coffee and the most wonderfully delicious pastry (feijoia and almond) I have ever tasted. The food is baked by the owners and is always super yummy. This cafe is one of the jewels of Beach Haven imho.
A local place for local people giving a taste of a proper French Patisserie. Great choice of tarts and menu. Mushrooms on toast with a side of bacon is fantastic, although friends had French toast and that looked brilliant too.
This is the locals favourite. Delicious coffee, French bakery treats and snacks for puppies too.
