The staff have been very good and the steak is vell cooked.

The Good Home is damn average. Been here so many times and never had bad food or amazing food it's always consistently average. A good place for a family to eat at as it's not too pricey and has a good selection of food for kids. The staff are always very welcoming. x
The staff was very friendly, food came quickly, the portions were good and the environment had character. It had smoking areas and non smoking ones for outdoor sitting which was handy because I didn’t want to smell cigarettes during my lunch time.
The menu is new and has a good collection of different flavours.
I tried the vegetarian options: grilled veggies and my partner had the venison burger which came with the shoe string chips.
Prices a bit high but to be fair they use quality products. Overall a good experience
I do love a good Caesar Salad, so my standard here is high. I had it with chicken added and yes, went with the anchovies. I was certainly not disappointed and neither was my wife with her salad which included jalapenos (too hot for me). Great and attentive service!
Good Home has nice atmosphere, good to take family together. very good priced food especially with grab one voucher. Hope they can join zomato gold.

had my 18th here and they had such amazing food and service!!! kudos to them for making it all happen. i only recommend that they could maybe label the food on the platters only because some people wanted to know what was in it before eating. but even they loved it
On Friday night, I hosted my 21st birthday at The Good Home. I chose this venue, as I've had a great experience every time I've been there in the past. The staff are friendly, on-to-it and make sure you're comfortable and enjoying yourself. When organising my 21st, it was a super simple process. The beer battered fries and their cocktails are incredible.
Awesome vibes and got seen to straight away. I love the deco at this place its just amazing! Each little corner has its own vibe and it all comes together quite nice. Food was really good add a little bit more chips as there wasnt quite enough with the meal other than that brilliant. The cocktails were nice as well. Will be back again cheers!
Great place to catch up with mates to watch a sport event or just a quiet beer. The steak night is great value and the staff have been very good.
Incredibly good food. I really enjoyed the homely feeling you get when walking into the restaurant/bar. I ordered the crispy pork nibbles and chips and they arrived relatively quickly. The pork and the crackling were perfectly cooked and the crackling had that nice crunch to it. Overall really nice.
The staff are friendly, the drinks are good, ambience is pleasant, it's quite inviting, the screens are especially good when there's a game on and the atmosphere is really great when it's busy. Haven't tried the food.
Have had mixed experiences with The Good Home, but thought I should give it another shot. Glad to say I was surprisingly impressed. The food was tasty and hearty just what I was craving. I had a $10 cocktail and beef burger, both were on point. I would recommend a visit if you are after a reasonably priced drinks and decent pub food.
Our 'local' - we love it here. Friendly staff, great decor, amazing food.
Would love to have the Fish Pie back on the menu though - disappointed when it was left off the menu earlier this year.

Very warm and inviting space, it genuinely does feel like a 'home' when you're in there. The staff are super friendly and regularly check on you throughout your time here, one particularly guy (probably the manager) always makes sure he personally has a chat with as many customers as he can. Cocktails are yum! As is the food, so far I've been here maybe a 8 times and had pleasant experiences each time. Burgers are 👍👍👍
Really good atmosphere, really friendly staff, pretty good food, not much vegetarian options though and took a while for the staff to wait on us. Well worth it for the interior atmosphere, so much bigger than expected
Such a cool bar/restaurant! Loved how it was set up, was super busy when we arrived yet we were still seated very quickly. The food came quickly and was very yummy. Will definitely be back again soon!
From the outside this place looks so small but you'll be surprised when you walk in to find its massive! Loved how the place is laid out and decorated. We were seated to a table pretty quickly and served by the waitress while it was busy quickly too. Our meals arrived in good time and were really enjoyable! This seems to be a really busy social place and would be a fun place to come with a group! My only thing was the chicken in the burger had some grissley bits, otherwise I left really satisfied! Eaten and drank here a few times, service is average, atmosphere is ok most of the time depending on what you are looking for. Food has been average on a couple of occasions and on one occasion below average, we ordered a tasting plate which was advertised with I think 5 items, we only got 2 and nothing was mentioned when ordered or delivered. When we asked if the other items were coming separate they then said that they didn't have the items so we could maybe order something else aswell to make up for it, so it was rectified in the end.
Scallops wrapped in bacon were very nice.
Lovely spot for a casual bite. Staff are always very pleasant and efficient. We have worked out what we like off the menu a little by trial and error! We have been many times and will continue to be regulars. Absolutely recommend - great improvement on the old noisy pub on yesterday.

Nice ambience, good selection of food. Good service friendly staff. The scotch steak was cooked to perfection. Pizza is more than enough for one. The pork roast skin is not that crispy. Ita a little pricey though without the voucher.
Went in for one beer, stayed all night! Really great service, i felt like a regular by the end of my first night! Have been back plenty of times since and had great experiences each time. Decor is very cool, very fresh and clean. The food is top notch to! Def worth a stop off if your in the neighborhood!

Been here a few times for lunch and I love the decor of this place. Service was always pretty good.
The burgers were massive and came with a big basket of chips. The chips are the chunky kind were weren't my favourite but the burgers were great. They have a variety of food on the menu such as pizza, burgers and large plates.
I liked their small plates menu and if you can't decide what to order, I recommend the tasting platter which has the best from the small plates menu. The pork belly bites, chicken nibbles and salt and pepper squid were yum. If you're in the Birkenhead area, I recommend this place.
Occasionally when you dine out the planets align and you have the best experience ever. This happened to me and my wife recently at the good home. Been to this venue a few times over the years and never been inspired to return. Boy what a change , the food and everything was spot on. Love the place. I am scared that if I return that I may not leave with the same view as I have now.

Perfect option for a substitute homemade meal. As good as I have had at a local pub.

Been here a few times and love the interior, love the service staff and the food is really delicious - you can get small plates or large plates depending on what you feel like. Really recommend the roast chicken! The only problem I had with this place was the waiting time for the food! Came at a time it was quite busy and the food took ages to come out and I thought it was because of the rush of people but came again when the place was virtually empty and it still took close to 45 minutes to come out.
The Good Home never fails to put on a great feed with good atmosphere - had dinner with my partner, she had the Al's Fish and Chips and I had the Bacon Chicken and Avo, we shared the Squid Rings as a starter. Squid rings were awesome, great panko and dips. My burger was spot on and my partners FandC was impressive. Great portion sizes and the chips are the best around. Highly recommended.
15 of us had Sunday lunch here on the 15th February. I liked this place when it was the Slipp Inn but since the re-furb it is even nicer now. The food is as good as ever but prices have risen a tad since last year I think but not so high as to deter me going again. Attentive and prompt service, with a smile....overall, a very positive experience.
Great kiwi style pub food & drinks. A total make over from the old Slipp Inn and 10 x better. Prefect place for a relaxed night out or after work drinks with a fun & interesting layout.

This is a great spot! It is an excellent addition to the Birkenhead eating scene which seems to have every nationality represented except some good Kiwi food, with a relaxed bar feel as well. I went here with a mate for a couple of beers and a meal. I'm looking forward to going back as soon as I can. The staff were friendly and attentive and made us feel welcome, like a good home. The meal was very nice, I had a burger and chips. At first it appeared a bit small but as I got eating, it was the perfect size, no leftovers and not left wanting. Great beer selection for a place this size. Would highly recommend, and waiting to go back!!
Local friends took me here for dinner. The lamb shank is tender and falling off the bone, but the flavor is just plain, only savory taste and nothing else, which makes it less interesting after a few bits. The seafood and chips are okay, dried fish tasted better than the fried shrimps.
$20 schnitzel night, got the steak one... first time steak schnitzel. Highly recommend. Got the chimichurri sauce. Great pairing. Came with fries and salad which were okay.
The watermelon margarita special was sweet but good. Don't normally like sweet drinks.

We had our Daughters 21st Birthday. Management would answer any questions i had about the night. Staff were so amazing, always available when needed, food was on time, helped with the music, able to use the television for slide shows. Perfect for a small gathering of approximately 35 people. We were able to decorate the room nice and early, then it was closed to the public.
Great night and kept everything kept within budget. Highly recommend
The team at the Good Home hosted our studio Christmas party recently and the staff were awesome! They brought out awesome function food, catered for us to run a quiz via the TV, were super accomodating with drink subsidies and just overall made the process of having an event so easy! Thank you guys we appreciate all your help!!
We recently had my partners 50th birthday here. Duncan in particular gave such excellent service leading up to and on the occasion. Staff on the night were super friendly. Nothing was too much bother and everything was well taken care of. Highly recommend! Everyone loved the sharing platters.

Came here for a fundraiser pub quiz night and enjoyed the experience. They have a $20 rib night on Mondays and that was pretty good. I enjoyed the fact that it filled me up but didn't make me feel gross like so many other meals at pubs. The quiz was good, though it did run a bit long.
Great yummy dinner tonight. Food was fresh, tasty and good portions. Gastro pub menu. Staff were really really lovely. Might have to come try the Barbie Cocktail once it's on the menu!🍹😜💞

About what I expected and overall it's still feels like an everyday gastropub (i.e. Macs beer bar) that you can find in any suburb, except this one is themed with more of a home lounge vibe from a few tall back chairs to carefully arranged, colour coded book decor. Mains like burgers and tacos get extremely messy but are still good. Shoestring fries are the same old thing. But, to be totally honest, whenever I'm here again someday, I'm going straight for the mozzarella garlic bread starter and maybe just getting two servings of that.

Went for a birthday for a friend, was my first time there. The food, decor and the atmosphere were great. I think I had the pasta of the week, which was chicken in a creamy sauce.
The staff were super friendly and we didn't have to wait very long for the food.
You know, some of the really important things about a "Home" are that it's there when you need it, it's comfortable and comes with really good food and company.
So it is with these folk - it's a well named spot for a regular visit; especially when you want to join some enthusiastic supporters to watch a big ABs game or BC match!
My BFF John and I are regulars here and Always enjoy excellent service and the good wholesome food... Warm Glows all around. 😋🍻👍
From the waiter to the chef, they all went the extra mile and delivered an exceptional dining experience for me at The Good Home Birkenhead.
I didn't expect anything fancy available as I'm a vegetarian with special dietary requirement. The waiter was very friendly and helpful, and was back and forth between the kitchen and my table trying to find something I could have from the menu.
Just after I ordered some chips as it's the only thing I could have on the menu, he came back and told me the chef would cook me something special. It turned out to be one of the nicest vegetarian food I have had in a pub/cafe.
