I came home from semester at University last week and was delighted by the idea that we would be going to one of the most noteworthy foodies in Blenheim for dinner. The elders and my parents all visited for an interesting dining experience and we were greeted by the wonderful Brazilian waiter that everyone had been raving about. He came bearing menus of all different easel types and a reading light specifically for the less sight capable. For started we ordered what was essentially Sheppards pie except in Brazilian Escondidho is the act of hiding something beneath a blanket .(or so we were educated.) For mains I ordered the pasta of the day which was a large (really large) bowl of cabonara, tomato relish, garlic and basil pesto with a round of parmesan and other assorted cheeses. My parents setup with both a steak, which was far too rare for medium, whilst mum soaked in the chicken breast with a special sauce that I analysed to be of coconut and garlic juice used to marinate the chicken and then put onto the potatoes as a gravy overall the restaurant was very exciting and constantly changing. The menu isn't too expensive and the age group is pretty non specific so you could expect anything from bubbas to old grand parents. A really special place can't wait to go back again.
This establishment is a gem. From the moment I walked in until I left I felt welcome and accommodated. The menu is a masterpiece layout of Brazilian cuisine, with a large list of specials to mix it up. The staff beat the food, every person was very happy to be there and helped with every question from our table. Even when one person from our group was being too picky, I never saw a frustrated face as they did everything in their power to accommodate. It's nice to see a restaurant work so hard at making it look so easy. Well done.
My partner and I went on a Friday for my birthday. What a wonderful evening we were accommodated when we asked to sit at a different seat by the window..the service of the wait staff was impeccable with them ensuring everything was to our liking the fillet steak was amazing and the best steak my partner had ever had truly divine. I had the chicken fillet so lovely. The dessert of mocha cheesecake was divine. I didn't know places like this existed in Blenheim as has class and wonderful food at reasonable prices. We will definitely be back well done to gramodos and thanks for making my birth day so special.
A great place staff and owner are super friendly, the food is fantastic. Are catering for gf options. Nothing seems a bother to them. Keep up the fantastic work. I will most certainly be back. I have recommended to a lot of my friends.
Amazing! Fantastic service, fantastic food! Worth more than one visit that's for sure!! The food is Brazilian style but plenty of western style food for those fussy ones among us! The owners make great hosts and the chef actually comes out to chat yo you and tell you all about the menu!
I travel the entire South Island every month for work. I eat at Restaurants 4 nights a week.
One of the best things about the trip is eating at Gramados ... the food is fantastic and the staff are great.
Possibly the best restaurant in the South Island
Finally made it over to Gramado's and wish we'd gone sooner! The food is excellent and the service warm and welcoming.
Must comment on the black beans and rice. I've had this prosaic-sounding, but addictively delicious dish in restaurants around the world. When done perfectly - as it is here - it's not only addictively delicious, but lets you know that there's a master hand in the kitchen.
Best food-best service-best staff in Blenheim! Am annoyed we waited so long to go there. The atmosphere is amazing, and the food is cooked to perfection. I don't have a bad word to say about our dining experience!
Visiting Marlborough for the first time. Our motel owner recommended Gramado's and we are glad he did. Very good food, courteous staff. A very nice dining experience without a hefty bill.
Well done Gramado's
Awesome vibes, great food, amazing hospitality from the staff!!!! Absolutely enjoyed everything we ordered! Luckily they were able to accommodate us for a last min reservation I made on the same morning, definitely make a reservation - must come when in Blenheim!! P.S they even have proper lighting set up for a group photo!

Didn't know that I needed to make a reservation as I am just visiting Blenheim but the staff tried to accommodate me despite the busy evening at the restaurant. The steak was cooked to perfection! They made Caipifruta mocktail for me because I do not drink. It was sooo good! They also gave me a small chilli platter for free! But wait, there's more! The waitress asked me if I wanted to have some dessert. I told her I was so full because I had rib-eye steak, cheesy potato gratin, and salad for my main meal. Then she came back with a well-plated chocolate truffle - for free! Apparently, nobody leaves the restaurant without having something sweet ❤ I wss on my own when I visited tonigt. Will definitely come back with my family when we visit Blenheim again! Awesome food, perfect ambiance, great service!
I took my wife for her birthday. I heard it is challenging to get a reservation but we got one just three hours before. Gramados treat their patrons well, especially if they know it is your birthday. The price is a bit expensive but you will feel at home. We spent like two hours here. The food was tasty and they have a huge beverage selection. We enjoyed it and I am sure you will too.
I always love coming here. I save Gramado's for very special occasions now as it is an amazing experience and has a special charm. I love the flavours, everything is cooked to perfection and bursting with flavours. Staff are always polite and friendly and explains the menu well.
Tonight I have tasted the best dessert ever in my life at a restaurant. Brazilian Pudim is a must try dessert. It is homemade, egg & condensed milk base. Beautifully balanced, smooth, light, flavoursome, melts in your mouth feel. Cannot recommend this enough.
My main, Porco Loco, slow cooked pork belly was delicious. The beautiful fat still in place just melted in mouth with the meat. It had a guava sauce which was balanced well between sweet and spicy.
My entree Escondidinho was a great starter which I shared with my wife. We both agree it was the best way to start a Brazilian fusion food experience. It was layer after layer of delicious flavours. From mozzarella, cassava mash to beautiful amount of crab meat and prawns to name a few layers.
And always fun to try the condiments of chilles. The kawakawa green mix sauce was our favorite. Followed by the ticking time bomb and the first on the list which was a pepper/onion/tomato.
All in all, the best experience and once again it is a 10/10. Great job Saulo, Roger and team for the wonderful night.
One of the best restaurants I've been to. A very memorable experience 😉
What an amazing experience! Extremely friendly staff who are all having a good time and ensuring that you are enjoying yourself as well. The atmosphere is well matched to the food which is also excellent. Their cheese balls are famous and a must try. The wines are mostly local and they cover most varietals. Not surprisingly, they are busy so make sure to book if you're in Blenheim.
Best food and best customer service in town! The restaurant is family friendly, the staff got our child's food out super speedy so she wasn't waiting and getting hangry 😆 the owner even offered for our three year old to go and help him make dessert 🍨 every time I have been here I have always recieved the best customer service! Thanks guys, will definitely be back again soon.
Ps. The Pork belly and the sauce that goes with it is to die for 😍😍😋😋
Amazing experience! We had a great night here with amazing dinner! Saulo is a full of humour and makes everyone happy. Also he got some brilliant ideas to make your night with suprise!🤣🤣 Definitely the rank 1 restaurant in Marlborough!
I don’t have much Brazilian food but I found Gramado’s food fantastic. Loved the chilli tasting plate. The hospitality is great, Saulo and his team has made my night very special. Thank you for the birthday song, the dessert and the special rum☺️
MAKE RESERVATIONS!! Otherwise you may not be able to get in, as they can be fully booked for days at a time.
My (Brazilian) husband and I absolutely loved our meal here. Everyone working here was really kind and friendly, and all seemed to be in a good mood, which makes the whole experience so much more fun.
The food and drinks were great. I'll go in order of the meal:
1. The caipirinha tasted exactly as it should.
2. The pão de queijo was indistinguishable from what I've had in Brazil, and the spicy guava sauce on the side was amazing. (Brazilian husband reports that it tastes like his childhood, but he had never paired it with PdQ before).
3. The escondidinho was delicious. Never having had it before, I loved it and would absolutely order it again.
4. The Brazilian old fashioned was really good. Personally I'd just order a second caipi next time, but I'm glad I tried it!
5. The moqueca was the only place where I can complain at all. It was delightfully creamy and flavorful, but the portion was quite small. It was maybe 1/3 the size of my husband's order of feijoada.
6. The feijoada was really good and even came with orange slices, which is familiar in Brazil.
7. The pudim (Brazilian flan) was super tasty. I'm not a sweets person, but I really enjoyed it anyway. My husband describes it as "richer and more complex than the Brazilian ones."
In closing: both my husband (Brazilian) and I (American) loved this meal. He says the flavors were very familiar, and I say it was delicious. Thanks, Gramado's, for a great meal!
