We just had the most amazing experience at Hans Herzog! We stayed at their beautiful cottage. The impeccable service by Hans and Therese was personalised for us. We enjoyed a barrel tasting, library wines, and a lovely lunch cooked by Hans & Therese, which was very delicious. Also breakfast brought to us each morning. So many wonderful memories! Thank you!!
We had an absolutely incredible stay at Hans Herzog. My wife and I stayed for her birthday during our honeymoon to New Zealand. Everything about our trip was magical - from the perfectly decorated cottage to the incredible breakfasts and wine makers platters filled with local goodies to the delicious wine. The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming. It was such a treat to stay on their vineyard, and we highly recommend the experience to anyone who catches an opening to stay with them.
My mother and I were blown away by our visit to Hans Herzog. We booked a tour of the vineyard and a tasting in June, 2023, and it was by far the highlight of our trip to the South island. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable, including Hans being active working in the vineyard while we were on the estate. The tasting room is very clean with the views being second to none. We left with bottles of the best wine we had on our entire wine trip and will absolutely be ordering more when we return to the states. 100% recommend!
We stopped in for a classic wine tasting and had such an incredible experience. Maria was our guide and she was so informative and pleasant to speak with. We ended up buying a delicious white bottle and then she gave us a bunch of recommendations for our NZ stay. She was an absolute treasure, and we’re so happy we stopped in! We will be back!
Lovely personal vineyard. We had booked but arrived an hour early and they managed to accommodate us, saving us from a rainstorm. Great knowledge about the wines and also very impressive the way the staff switched effortless between English and German while serving.
A wonderful 2 nights in the most delightful "Rose Cottage", an idyllic setting amongst the vines, a short walk from the winery and family home, we enjoyed a wonderful wine tasting set in the garden in late afternoon with dappled sun shining through, little fantails hopping from tree to tree, like being in a Disney movie! The cottage itself was immaculate with many antique and original features, and the rooms were serviced beautifully, indeed we enjoyed a "Vineyard Platter" on our deck one evening and of course the wine. Super location, we loved it!!
Absolutely exquisite! This cottage is absolutely stunning. Would highly recommend, so much character and finesse, from all the little details (high end linen, bath robes, coffee, arrange of tea, fresh flowers). Beautiful interior design. The team at Herzog were so friendly and welcoming. We made the most of using the bikes they had on offer to pop around to the local vineyards. Highly recommend the breakfast option, delicious! We hope to return in the near future!
We were part of a wine club group who had booked a tour and tasting. Fascinating story of the founder (who was working away in the vineyards behind us) and the passion and precision that drives him to offer an astounding array of wines from a very modest plot. Herzog have a very different offering to what are considered "Marlborough" wines and is all the better for it. Great host/guide (Thanks Maria) who was very knowledgeable, very entertaining and engaging. The tasting itself was well thought through in glimpsing some of the wines on offer. Highly recommended.
I had a pleasant experience, even better because I was attended by a compatriot (Chilean), passionate about wine and with a lot of energy to share and show the quality of the vines. I did the wine tasting, totally recommended. My favorites ones were the Mistral and the Riesling. Thanks to Gerald for his great kindness and good energy.
Awesome wine experience, highly recommended! Gerald was a great host, knowledgeable, answered all my questions, showed me around and explained me how everything started here in Marlborough for Hans Herzog (I actually got to meet him too!). Comes without saying the place itself is amazing, nice, chilled vibe in the relaxing garden, could have spent the whole day there! ... and the wines!!!!
Lovely experience in the cottage and great service from Maria, arranging a special birthday cake that was waiting for us as we checked into the cottage.
We had a wonderful food and wine experience yesterday. Highly recommend having the wine tasting/tour before Lunch. It was so informative and having the person who works in the vines also explaining everything to you was fantastic. Food was gorgeous (Salmon and Pea risotto-yummy) and service perfect. Thank you Hans and Therese and Herzog's Team-my guests were blown away.

I just had the nicest dinner at the Bistro. The food was excellent. Alex selected the finest wines by the glass to compliment my dinner. He was extremely knowledgeable and selected the perfect Herzog wines to match each dish. The blueberry tart was just delicious.
We enjoyed a fabulous night in the Rose Cottage and a most excellent dinner in the restaurant. The Cottage is a very special experience and I highly recommend both it and the restaurant. The Herzogs are lovely hosts, the staff are welcoming and attentive, the food is divine and the wines even better.
