This is by far the best Heritage Centre we have ever visited anywhere. The guides are really good at interacting with you such that you feel you are on a personal tour. Nice little cafe too. Very thought provoking video at the end of the WW2 exhibition…. Do both WW1 & 2.
Well worth the admission price. I visited the 1st World War Exhibition, Peter Jacksons war plane collection. It was beautiful & I'm not an aviation nut. Great staff Toi.
Great museum. We visited the WWII side, the aircraft are great, the exhibits are fantastic! Highly recommend if you’re into aviation or WWII history.
The Mosquito is a highlight!
We only saw the WW1 museum as the WW2 one was closed for an event, however this is one of the best of its kind I have visited. The planes and artifacts were imaginatively displayed, the guide we spoke to was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended
Such an excellent setup and collection. The aviation enthusiasts who are all volunteers are more than willing to share information on the aircraft on display. I found it interesting how many aircraft are still air worthy.
What an important piece of history this is, displayed in a unique manner, each hall telling the story of the two greatest conflicts of the 20th Century.
We enjoyed reading the personal stories that shaped the Wars, learned things about each that were unknown to us and our guides were extremely know
Great to see vintage planes, the early first world war planes were specially interesting, these men were really special to go up in these machines. Time just flew by, some great dioramas.
Absolutely brilliant day out, both the WW1 & WW2 exhibitions are incredible, definitely worth it. The shop is also great with friendly staff
This museum is amazing, true hidden gem of the South Island. We toured the WWII exhibit, so much personal history and stories from the region & era. 100% recommended.
The best Aviation museum I have visited. The WW1 exhibition is amazing! The attention to detail is phenomenal.
