I've always been a bit partial to Greenland bakery. I started coming here several years after they won their coveted pie awards.
Apart from the fact that the awards are many years ago now, I quite like their pies. However that said, I don't think they can still be considered 'award winning'. Their not bad but don't stand out compared to other pie places.
Probably the most I can say regards their pies is that they have several flavours not found elsewhere. For example Pork and kumara.
This is my second visit in two weeks. The Eggs Benedict is amazing value for money ($14.90 including a free coffee!) and utterly delicious. Clean, great service, good ambience / background music - and they also make amazing pies too :)
Went on a recommendation from a local friend as a place for above average café for brunch. We both ordered Eggs Benedict, mine with Smoked Salmon and hers with ham and two hot chocolates. I wanted to have a Monin soda but was told they were out. It was quite small and busy when we went but were able to grab a table before the rush. It was a bit tight as the middle tables with chairs are almost back to back with the others and on the other side is the cue to grab pre-prepared pies, sandwiches, and baked goods. Even though it was on the busier side we still got our food timed out together pretty well and it was pretty good overall! The hot chocolate was more on the warm milk side than chocolate but still balanced well and the eggs bene was delightful on a hungry stomach. The smoked salmon was a great choice with it and Im glad the bread the salmon, eggs and hollandaise sauce was on was not soggy in the least. I also enjoyed the pesto spread artfully around the edge of the dish. Overall, pretty pleased with my experience with the food quality and timing of the dishes. I recommend it as a decent place to stop at for a quick bite or a sit down when not too busy.
Excellent pies! Nice place to sit and have some brunch and coffee. A convenient place to stop for food while shopping in the town centre. Highly recommended.
I think I've found my new favorite local cafe!
Have been here in the past but only to try the pies, which are nice but way over priced. Recently however I decided to try their eggs benedict special with free coffee.
I ordered a salmon eggs bene and upgraded my mocha to medium size for an extra 60 cents. All up it cost just $16.50.
Coffee arrived promptly and hot, and breakfast soon followed.
The hollandaise sauce was rich and creamy, eggs perfectly poached and they even included half a grilled tomato and a basil drizzle which was a little odd.
Overall the food was great and even better was the price, especially when other chain cafes nearby like Columbus and Coffee Club charge through the nose for essentially the same thing.
Next time I'd just request to have it without the basil I think.
I've always loved their mince and cheese pies as the cheese is always so stringy. Only downside is that it's a bit pricy for a pie since there are much better ones for cheaper.
The big attraction here are the pies which have won awards in the past. I stopped eating them a few years back when I started watching my weight, so this time I just got a mince savory which was excellent with crisp, flaky pastry.
The slices always look so precision perfect that you wonder if man had any hand in making them, still it all tastes as you'd expect.
Coffee is good enough and the place is kept very clean. The staff are constantly refilling the cabinets and making sure the food is displayed attractively. Lots of customers buying pies to takeaway keep this cafe busy. I don't like the seating arrangements here so tend to avoid as it's a really tight squeeze when busy.
Had the yo yo (melting moment) and a couple of mini mince pies...mate .... outstanding bakery I must say ..... delicious yes indeed👍😊. Definitely coming back to this place.
Not my first visit. But awesome pies. Steak n cheese are the bombs. Quiches are averrage though. Coffee. Ummm. New beans so better than earlier but needs a bit more work . A little weak

Being so close to home, I frequently stop by Greenland Bakery and Cafe for their award winning pies. Located inside the Botany Town Centre complex, this bakery/cafe has a popular following and is always packed with locals enjoying a cup of coffee and the various items from their heated cabinet.
Their mince and cheese pie has always been my favourite. A decent size pie with plenty of filling, I really enjoy the crispy pastry. The coffee is slightly mediocre so don't expect a great cup of Joe. Apart from pies, my parents and I also like some of their sweet treats such as caramel slice and assorted muffins, and if we were feeling healthy, we opt for their readymade sandwiches and bread rolls.
Service can be rather slow at times and the tight and crowded dining area meant that it is often a struggle to get to one end of the cafe to the other. Sometimes, it's nearly impossible to get to the self service heated cabinets. It is because of the rather uncomfortable seating arrangement, I tend to buy the items for takeaway, which works out just fine!
I love their pie ESP mince n cheese
N service is top nod not the cheapest
But the best that all it matter.
We like their pies, tried a few of their award winning pies and it was pretty good. Coffee's alright but i guess that depends on who's working it that day.
Awesome Burton's coffee, nice pies too. I've found a new coffee place in botany.
I have had too many bad coffees lately and these guys, although a little shy, make the creamiest strong (double shot) coffee.
I am quite a cafe snob; I get put off with ones that has mall-foodcourt-alike decoration. See, for me going to a cafe means spending $$ for overpriced food and coffee for the ambience! Greenland's decor is pretty straightforward. Bright lighting and foodcourt lookalike tables, with hot food and dessert cabinet alongside their wall.
I heard that their pie is super tasty and award winning too (this I need to sample next time I come to visit), but I had eggs benedict because I was so hungry and wanting a complete meal. I am actually surprised by how tasty the food here is! For $14.90 their benedict is huge; they're generous with portions, and very very tasty. Their hollandaise is creamy, buttery and tangy. The coffee is awesome as well, a perfect cup to start your day.
I would say if you're in Botany area it's a straightforward place to go for decent brunch; I can't think of any cute cafes around here anyway, so why not go for a surely tasting meal here.
Steak + cheese pie, chicken bacon + mushroom pie all filled with CHUNKY HUNKS of meat. Full of flavour, one of the best pies around
Great place for pies. Very tasty! A must to visit if you're a pie lover.
The lemon meringue pie and the chocolate caramel brownie were scrumdiliuptius that I gobbled it all up🥶 the chicken and bacon pie meal with peas and mashed potato’s was also 10/10 🤘🔥
We got a steak/cheese pie "DELICIOUS" also ordered a cappuccino "DELIGHTFUL" came to my main dish "CREAMY MUSHROOM ON CIABATTA" "AMAZING" Amazing place, I'd go back again.
Breakfast us great reasonably priced and great pies to take home.
This place has ruined me for all other pies!! They ha e the absolute best pies I've ever tasted. Steak, cheese and mushroom is my fave. Highly recommend if you're after a good kiwi pie.
Oh WOW what a delightful discovery.....We enjoyed the most delicious homemade pies (mine was bacon and egg, and my friend enjoyed steak and cheese)
We devoured these delicious yummy pies "alfresco" watching the world pass us by......DELIGHTFUL
100%SATISFACTION
Five of us went for breakfast all of us enjoyed our breakfast and coffee was good. Price was reasonable and affordable. Well worth a visit tip pies also gold awards 👌 😀
Love the pies (award winners) and the coffee. In my personal opinion, they have the best pies around the Howick area. Good strong coffee too.
Popped in for morning tea as my usual was closed.
The Steak, Cheese and mushroom pie was full of flavour and the pastry was flaky and golden. The coffee was a let down.
I'll be returning for pies but definitely not for coffee.
The food was excellent as well as the service was excellent. It has a lovely, calm atmosphere in the shop. I would definitely recommend the shop to anybody.
Love their pies, they're top notch. The team were also helpful and friendly.
Nice food and good prices.
Awesome pies, I got the steak and mushroom pie with a caramel thick shake, very tasty. I'll definitely be coming back, thank you.
It is delicious. Although a little bit pricey the pies are the best ive ever tasted and are definitely up to standard from back in 2013 when they won the supreme pie award. Coffee's not that bad but the pies are absolutely stunning. Been coming to this place often and everytime my expectations are exceeded with crispy outer and delicious meat
The best pies in the East and fresh counter food at reasonable prices. A relaxed, homely atmosphere with friendly service. Menu items are also available at very reasonable prices but we haven't been able to go past the pies!
This was one wonderful café, best lunch I've had in a long time, good service and food 👍 Thank you so much.
Although a bit pricey, the selection of food was good, it was reasonably tasty, and the staff were friendly. It's noticeable when the owners also serve customers, as they often have a better attitude and are usually more engaging. Coffee was average, but acceptable. Eating area was quite clean and tidy but felt a little cramped. Not much "atmosphere", but to be expected in this type of eatery. Good location but no "view". Seating was ok but not "comfortable" per se.
