Alpino is a gorgeous Italian restaurant in Cambridge. This bustling restaurant was full of people and chatter as soon as we walked in, we were greeted at the door, and the staff were nice and friendly. I ordered a Limoncello margarita, but sadly, I never got to try it as it never came, but everyone else at our table got their drinks and seemed to be happy. I didn't want to make a fuss. I ended up having a glass of wine, which my friend offered me from the bottle he ordered, so it was all good. The young man who took our orders was lovely and friendly. We ordered mozzarella balls and two pizzas. The pizzas were delicious, especially the prawn one. We loved the complimentary chilli oil they brought to the table, so yummy. We were so full from dinner that we didn't need dessert but we had such a lovely time and enjoyed our meal with friends. Please visit this gorgeous restaurant, the food is definitely delicious and the atmosphere is great.

This is a great restaurant. We enjoyed our lunch very much. Have to say the new layout from my previous visit when this was a bar is far better. Well done and thanks.

A hidden GEM!!! One of the best Italian food spots in the country. Fantastic welcoming comitee, We felt like we were at home the second we entered. Food was just soooo full of flavour. Staff were awesome, friendly, very very well done. I will be booking my next 5 occasions there for sure. Make sure you book to save yourself a spot..... Highly recommended. It takes a cracker to recommend one of these... But Alpinos' definately deserves it.

Visited with a group of nine and not one bad word was spoken. The male host was so energetic and enthusiastic nothing could have gone wrong. The lady who served us was exceptional. No notebook, just remembered the whole order and gave excellent service. Thank you from the team at Machinery House.

The food is not bad especially the ham platter. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and design, and the waiters are really friendly. The spaghetti bolognese was just a bit weird but besides that it was all good.

Managed to enjoy an impromptu New Year’s Eve dinner on our road trip back home. The friendly Italian (Ricardo we learnt after hearing other patrons leaving wishing him well) found us a table & we were lucky to be served by Laura who provided a great dining experience. The meals didn’t disappoint, compliments to the chefs on some fine Italian 😋 Will definitely return here! Grazie

Food is very good and comparable with what you get in Auckland (which is reflected in the prices) and overseas. We had the ragout which was well done - very rustic style so you could see the pieces of carrots and celery. The pasta (which was fresh) was well made. We had the truffle pizza which was good. A hybrid Roma/Napoli style. The squid was really good and showed great technique as it was cooked just enough but not raw. So that was good. The kids bolognese was good too and they took out the tartness of the tomato sauce for kids so appreciated that. I would have given this 5 stars apart from the water glass which had visible lipstick on it - a little off putting. Hopefully this is a one off. We’ll be back again next time we are in Cambridge.

Such a great find! The vibe was amazing, the staff are super friendly and the food was absolutely incredible - the pasta was the best we've had at a restaurant in a long time! Would 100% recommend dining here.

I really enjoyed this restaurant... BUT they loose a star! The food was very good and the wine list even better. At the start I talked to the floor manager (probably owner) and flagged that the night was a 50th Birthday dinner for a local. I asked him to arrange anything special he could muster for dessert. He agreed on a plan of 2 things depending on what would happen. Yaye. Then the time came and they completely forgot!? The service became non-existent with a half hour to go and our reminder of our time slot. We did not even get a chance to have an Amaro and for 20 mins we could not flag a staff member down for this. So paid and left. Frustrating end to a lovely dinner and venue.

Nestled behind an unassuming frontage in Cambridge lies a hidden gem that promises an exceptional dining experience: Alpino Italian. As you step inside, the tasteful decor and elegant atmosphere transport you to Italy, setting the stage for an unforgettable culinary journey. The menu boasts a variety of Italian delicacies, each bursting with authentic flavors that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. The impressive culinary prowess of the kitchen staff is evident in every dish, from the perfectly cooked pasta to the mouthwatering sauces that adorn them. The waiting staff are equally impressive, providing top-class service and expert knowledge of the menu, making for a seamless dining experience. The only slight drawback we experienced was the relatively small portion sizes of the pasta dishes we ordered, which left some members of our dining party feeling slightly unsatisfied. However, this was a minor flaw in an otherwise exceptional meal that left us eager to return and try more of the restaurant's culinary offerings. Overall, Alpino Italian is a must-visit for any discerning foodie looking for an authentic Italian dining experience in the heart of Cambridge.

This is the only Italian Restaurant that I have been to in NZ that absolutely matches all the fabulous ones in Victoria, Australia. They were busy but the Italian host was welcoming beyond words. The service we received was absolutely impeccable. We ordered a pizza and it was incredible. I highly recommend this Restaurant. After living in Victoria for many years, you get to taste amazing Italian meals and Alpino rates up at the top!

The lamb shoulder was awesome, Charlie, our host was also great, very attentive and had a good idea on the pairing ideas for the veggies.. All-in all a great dinner for my son's 21st birthday. Will definitely go back.

I had heard lots about Alpino from friends, so we were really keen to check it out. We drove from Taupiri to Cambridge for dinner, and the food didn't disappoint! We had the caprese salad and carppacio for starters and the spaghettini and the ravioli for mains with zucchini on the side. The caprese salad, zuchhini, and the ravioli were our favorites. The service was lacking slightly. We had a seat at the bar, and we were not offered water at any stage, so that was slightly disappointed. I would suggest a table over a bar seat as you feel like you are in the way of the bar staff at times. Overall we were happy with the meal and we would definitely dine again.

Great spot if looking for something nice. Looks like an ever changing menu of skilfully crafted dishes. Pizza dough was light and chewy, the kids menu reasonable, and all the mains we tried were tasty and interesting. Wasn’t too much selection in the way of salads, but didn’t seem to need one. Kids loved the dessert pizza. Staff were friendly and attentive - well done Cambridge, could be a regular stop on the way back to Auckland.
