The place was nice and clean. Its a priper dinner place fit for an elegant date. Ordered the tea leaves salad which was excellent. Also ordered the beef curry and the chicken & coconut milk soup. The beef curry is rwminiscent if malaysian or indonesian beef rendang. The burmese is less tasty though. Apparently this is how it's done in Burma. The soup is like tom kha but tom kha is more up my alley. Prices are a bit pricey and you dont get a lot in a dish. The tamarind sorbet ia good

Rangoon Ruby used to have a 'sister' restaurant but now Rangoon Ruby is the only place I can get my burmese food fix. We were seated in the upstairs area - good choice as we had a particularly active 2 year old with us. We enjoyed our favourites - tea salad, marinated fish, and papaya Salad. They're happy to adapt most dishes to keep the vegetarians happy.

Absolutely stunning meal. Flavours were beautiful. Well balanced where each flavour was clear but they worked so well together. Service was good and attentive but not overly so. Ngā mihi for the great experience. We will be back

We LOVED everything about this dinner! Delicious, and different food! Not like anything else we’ve had. So fresh and light and full of amazing flavor. We loved all the little plates so we could try a bunch of different flavors. Can’t wait to return and order totally different things! From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but inside it is cozy and lovely and has relaxing, cheerful atmosphere. We can see ourselves coming regularly, and bringing all our friends!

Not very often you come across amazing, new restaurant. What a nice discovery- Just wow ! If you like Asian food and not afraid to try something new it’s a must visit ! Located slightly off the main CBD in brand new renovated quarter is this nice and cosy Burmese restaurant. Very beautifully decorated in authentic style with authentic genuine chef and food from Burma it’s a real treat ! Everything is really delicious and very different taste from what you may be used from other Asian kitchens. It’s just good to try something new and refreshing. Most importantly for us was a great selection of vegan options- just make sure to mention that when you order, so no fish sauce is added to you food. Absolute Must try is famous tea leaf salad, which is beautifully flavoured. Tohu Thoke - yellow pea tofu with salad is delicious followed by several other small dishes to share such as Ciandi Thoke- eggplant or Beidi Thoke- green beans. End the evening with delicious desert, strongly recommend Shweji Mot cake! Service is very polite and efficient, just as it should be! Reservations are strongly recommended as place gets quite busy, but you have to call or text as there is no online booking. Can’t wait to get back !

Really unique and subtle flavours. The tea salad was delicious with a deep, umami flavour throughout due to the fermented tea-leaves. The fermentation renders the tea-leaves almost a fishiness that was surprisingly pleasant. The various nuts and legumes gave it a freshness and texture that was varied. The beef curry was very mild and the meat amazingly tender. Grilled eggplant likely had the fermented tea-leaves mixed through it and was savoury and delicious.

It was a great dinner with friends. Everything on my reviews except the desert are recommended (not bad, just too sweet for me). Love the raw fish, prawns dish, and lamb best!!!! A bit noisy on the second floor. The manager is so kind to make me a note on the menu so that next time I won't forget what I had before and which one I wanna have again.👍

God quality of food. The flavor is very exotic and interesting! Tea salad and papaya salad were my favorite. Only one downside is that their portion was very small considering the price. Also, the service was very slow because we ordered 10 dishes and after first salad arrival we waited almost 30 minutes for the next one. This was kinda unreasonable for me. Otherwise, good service.

Burmise cuisine is beautiful to look at and to enjoy. The tea salad was so good I am now obsessed. The crispy chicken was light and beautifully spiced. I enjoyed every thing we ordered and my girlfriend s and I enjoyed the atmosphere and the staffs impeccable hospitality. Do yourself a favor and make a time to experience this gem, and you must try the tamarind sorbet! Exquisite! I shall most definitely return.

We had a wonderful dinner, everything was tasty and perfectly cooked, we had never had Burmese food before so it was a new experience. The waitress was lovely, helpful, and with a sense of humour, you can tell everyone working there had a real pride in the food they were preparing and serving. Even the dessert was perfect.

I order a take-away lamb curry for the first time. The flavour exceeded my expectation. I’d love to invite family/friends to dine here with me in the future.

Excellent fusion Burmese food. Best dishes are Tea Salad, Papaya salad, raw fish salad and their lamb skewers. Definitely have to book before going, especially weekend. Their tea salad is unlike anything you will experience in terms of a perfect blend of flavours. Certainly a must in one's life.

Great food- simple and tasty- was a bit noisy upstairs and we kinda got forgotten. But the guys were super friendly - Obviously started eating before we could take any photos All the food was super yummy 😋

An excellent beautifully flavoured dinner and great service. The Cabernet blended wine I had glass of was just a little sharp. I suspect that it needed more time to mature. I forget the name but it was the only Cabernet blend on the wine list. However, I am not complaining but just bringing my opinion to the restaurants attention. Burmese food has quite a unique Asian flavour and composition. It's thoroughly enjoyable.

Burmese restaurant in Christchurch, definitely surprised by that and decided to give it a look in after reading the reviews. The dishes were different and tasted nice, the only dish which I'm not a fan of is the Table Salad. The portions are quite small which is a downer given the price. Thus we had to order 5 dishes between 3 adults and rice separately.

One of my favourites in Ōtautahi. Whenever I have guests in town Rangoon Ruby is always at the top of the list. Menu is meant to be shared as the dishes aren’t huge but they are packed full of flavour. When out with my partner we usually get 3 entrees and a main all to share and leave comfortably full. With a beer/wine each usually sets us back between $65-$90 depending on our choice of drink. Our top picks on the menu are: Tea Leaf Salad Chicken salad Marinated fish entree Crispy tofu Squid main Crispy chicken main Chicken curry

This place made me cry! The food was some of the most delicious I have ever had in a restaurant of this standing! I even had the ceviche and crumbly fish….. loved them both and I’m not a fish eater. Make yourself happy and go there for dinner
